Gilly Gets Gullied

Motley Crue and Poison

2011-07-18T20:49:00.000-04:00

The old metal band Motley Crue was in town this weekend, and they had Poison open up for them! Wasn't too excited about Poison, although they did put on an excellent show. Once Crue came on, everyone went wild. They must've performed for over 2 hours and and were relentless. Tommy was on some kind of "Gyro-Machine" while playing drums, so he was playing upside down and sideways.

True rock and metal is not dead, as seen in the video I'll attach with this blog. Kick ass show.

The Long, HD Video.. Fireworks

2011-07-13T11:39:00.002-04:00

Here is the better video as promised: A 12 minute recording of the awesome pyrotechnic display in Epcot.

Odd Sink..

2011-07-12T18:39:00.001-04:00

This was in my laboratory in High School... a very interesting sink and the water came out weird. Not one of the better videos I'm uploading, those are still rendering. But here is a tease to amp up the excitement... Just kidding, but seriously.. check out this unusual sink.

Busy Week

2011-07-12T15:50:00.000-04:00

As soon as the fun stops, all the work begins. I've been busy editing some videos and preparing them for YouTube, and by tonight I should have them all uploaded, maybe I'll link one here. Also been doing a little Flash programming, not getting very far but it's definitely a start. Maybe tomorrow I'll show you all what I've been working on. It's hard to keep up with this blog, but I haven't forgotten about. Besides all my personal work, I do have a job that's almost full-time.

Been a good weekend!

2011-07-06T12:24:00.000-04:00

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday celebrations these past few weeks! From mortars and sparklers to burgers 'n beer, June/July has been exciting so far. All good things must come to a close however, and I write this as I just finished registering for my Fall Semester courses. Now that all the partying is done (mostly) I can get back to work with Flash and focus on productivity for at least a few days :P.

Once September rolls around there will be no more time for side projects, gotta wrap it all up in August.

Jeep Repaired

2011-07-01T14:27:00.000-04:00

After messing around with the jeep, and all the BS troubleshooting, the '98 Cherokee runs great now. After installing a new alternator, replacing the fans and checking the CPS, I can safely say that the source of most of the problems was the fuel pump. Very low fuel pressure caused stuttering and poor performance starting. Ohhhh well. Also have a new head unit for the radio !

Moving On

2011-06-30T01:50:00.000-04:00

I've realized i'm going to run dry with just photoshop as my posts, and the quality is stale anyway. It's summer time and I've recently fallen into a bunch of time in my mornings and late evenings. I need to relearn java script, and convert some old knowledge over to flash. Working on a side-scrolling platformer with sprites and animations with a buddy... will keep you all updated.

No picture for today's post

Hehe, funny joke.

2011-06-25T10:21:00.000-04:00

This next picture was something I just threw together in a few minutes, more as a joke between friends. It's not very high quality, but I figured i'd share and someone might like the theme.

It's been a while... more photoshop!

2011-06-25T00:32:00.000-04:00

It's been a while since I tried messing around with photoshop, and after seeing an image with fire as a main theme, I became inspired. I also just recently watched the movie 300. Spartans and fire were my inspiration for this image, as you can tell. This took me about 35 minutes from start to finish, a lot of my time was spent finding good materials. I'm becoming more and more proud of my work, and I still would like more feedback or tips and suggestions from you all to improve myself.

Ocean Water

2011-06-18T09:12:00.000-04:00

Ever since I made that other water image, I thought it needed a more realistic touch to it. Yeah, the bluesy kind of color and overlay looks nice, but I wanted to use a real image. The inside fill of the letters is now an actual ocean wave, and I'm pretty satisfied with how it came out.

Back to Work

2011-06-14T23:42:00.002-04:00

Time to ease myself back into working and studying.. Here's an easier thing I tried to edit with photoshop, it looks as though the letters are filled with liquids.

Next I'm going to try and make it so that there actually is a liquid image in the letters :P

Final Vacation

2011-06-13T13:31:00.000-04:00

I just got back from my second and final vacation for a while. It was less of a vacation, and more of an extended party. The Jersey Shore is a place of non-stop action and parties this time of year, and i'm exhausted just from 3 days there. I was living off of macaroni and cheese and potato chips.. very healthy. The ocean water was very nice though, and the midnight dive was well deserved. It's time for a lunch break and nap though, back to work tomorrow! Perhaps more Photoshop tonight.

Also, I'm going to try and add a poll.. bare with me.

Once More, With Feeling

2011-06-08T22:39:00.000-04:00

I've been listening to Johnny Cash lately, and one song in particular inspired me to alter some images with Photoshop. "When the Man Comes Around" is a song I find to be catchy and meaningful, and the words that come with it carry some serious weight.

This image is what I came up with, again practicing my skills. Still open to tips to anyone who has experience though. I don't really have an eye for art :P

A little sun, a little fun, a lot of tan and burn.

2011-06-07T10:46:00.000-04:00

As said in my previous post, I was down in Florida for 5 days. I do not usually travel south, and the humidity almost conquered me. However, I did have a great time with a few of my friends as we went on roller coasters, safaris, and water parks! My skin is almost done peeling off now that I burnt it, and a decent tan is forming :P. I have over 100 pictures from this trip, most of them animals from the safari. Kangaroos, Lions, Fish, Rhinos, Alligators, etc.

I had a great time and visiting Disney World is definitely worth the time and money. They had an awesome display of fireworks and waterworks combined with special lighting tricks over a lake at night. I was able to enjoy this with my Chinese dinner one of the nights, and a group of friends with dessert another night.

The above picture is me and a few of my buddies on Tower of Terror. That ride was so awesome we went on it 4 times. For those of you that don't know, it brings you in an elevator to the top of a hotel tower, opens the doors, and drops you from the top to the bottom!

Disney Break!

2011-06-07T00:43:00.000-04:00

Sorry for my lack of posts, I was just at Disney World in Florida for about a week. I'm way too tired to make an educated post right now, more on this tomorrow, along with pictures! :)

2011-05-31T22:56:00.000-04:00

More messing around with Photoshop, this time using a ton of layers and blending options. Too many squiggly lines, but I enjoyed making this one. It's also a little patriotic for those of you Americans.Once again, I'm always open for tips and advice :) I appreciate the comments

More Photoshop attempts

2011-05-31T14:59:00.000-04:00

I can definitely say I've learned a lot of little tricks and understanding to how some Photoshop magic is done. I won't say i'm anywhere near professional or good at this, but I'm proud of how my work is turning out so far. I am completely open to tips, hints or even recommendations by anyone! Just leave me a comment :)

YouTube!

2011-05-26T20:37:00.000-04:00

Seems I forgot to mention I have a YouTube account! You'll find some of my work, fooling around and just random videos there. Video games, some music, the works. Check it out some time ;)

Just dabbling with Photoshop, very new to this program as well... took me a good hour but I figured some tricks out, with the help of a guide or two ;) . Maybe I'll stick to planets for a bit. Suggestions?

Wow

2011-05-26T19:45:00.000-04:00

Completely forgot about this blog.. I had a lot to say and do, but I'm gonna get back on track with this. It's time for my re-entry to the blogging world.

Adobe Flash CS5

2011-02-02T10:56:00.000-05:00

I'm going to try to teach myself Adobe Flash, with ActionScript 3.0. I have a little bit of experience with Java, so hopefully the syntax and language is similar. Dunno what I'm gonna do with the program yet, perhaps I'll follow some tutorials. Eventually, I hope to create a platformer sidescrolling game. This will be glorious.

First Blog Post

2011-02-02T09:16:00.000-05:00

Well, this is my first blog. Ever. And I guess you can call this a test post. Today and over the next few days I will be redesigning this page, and inspiring myself to write new blog posts.
