So, I’m sure by now some of you are wondering just where the hell I’ve been and why the comic hasn’t updated in quite awhile. Well here’s the honest truth, I simply don’t have enough hours in the day to do it right now. I posted a break down of my current class schedule plus the hours of work that comes with that a few strips back. At the time, it seemed like a real challenge, around week 5 it was starting to effect my mental health. The constant workload, the stress of always having 3 more projects that needed to be done yesterday and not sleeping… well let’s just say it was making me “cranky.” No, that’s not fair to those that have had to deal with me. The constant strain on me actually gave birth to legit panic attacks and several, deep breathing “everything will be alright” cool down sessions.

So now you know the why, but what about the future of Gin and Comics? Believe me, I still love this comic, in fact, I love it more now then when I started the thing over a year ago. The comic will be back, and it will come back looking better then ever. Consider this the dreaded “hiatus” for the comic. It was something I was really hoping to avoid, but honestly, if I’m being productive, it’s not such a bad thing. I don’t have an exact date the comic will be back. When it does I plan on having a large buffer, a site redesign, a couple of character design tweaks and a few other surprises. In order to fit all of this in, with my still hectic schedule, I’m thinking it may take me around a month or so. I will still be posting though, mostly here in the blog, also, the archive will stay active right up until the site is ready to close down for the upgrade.

Lastly, some of you may be wondering where this hiatus leaves the Non Con.  Well the Non Con is one of several projects I’m doing that has caused me to make this decision. So yes, the Non Con is still on schedule.

Thanks for your understanding folks, again, this is just a break and not a death sentence for Gin and Comics, I’ll be back and making stupid nerd jokes before you know it.

In this pic you can see my INCREDIBLY tiny little monitor off to the left there. Also, the action figures going around the ceiling line are of course TMNT. I have all 4 turtles as well as Casey Jones, Shredder, Both versions of April and Splinter on the cards from the first series up there. I also have the Bebop from the 25th anniversary reissues. Next to those are all the turtles from the 2003 toyline followed by all the turtles and Splinter from the TMNT movie toyline. Also, you can’t really see them in this pic (they are on the very right edge of the photo) but I have all of the TMNT sans Leo and She-Dragon from Images release of turtle toys designed by Jim Lee and Erik Larsen.

The other notables in this pic are probably “The Artist’s Decision Tree” by Sheldon’s Dave Kellet and the animation cel featuring Leo vs Shredder from the original cartoon.

Here’s a closer look at my wall. Oh hey, I forgot to mention the original Archie strip by Bob Smith there. As it stands down it’s the only original comic strip art I own.

This pic is of the other side of my office. Aside from the awesome 60′s sleeper couch I think the comic spinner rack is the hero over here (at least it is to me) Honestly, I love that thing to death. I’m sure I’m not the only comic nerd that has dreamt about having one of those in their house, I just think it’s pretty sweet I got one Over here lining the ceiling are some of my CGC books including Deadpool’s first appearance, Watchmen #1, Wolverine Origins #1 and a very cool ECCC exclusive Marvel Zombies variant. Over here you can see my official member ship into the TMNT fan club ( yes folks, I am that awesome) as well as some original animation cells from the Marvel Action hour. As you can see I also have a few loose action figures as well as some bobbleheads. And that about sums it up. I do love my work space. I’m a pretty happy nerd.

So yeah, generally this is where I give you a little update about things over here in Ryan-land (I assure you, it would make a terrible theme park) but I’m gonna level with all of you. I’m cranky. Like super-duper burn a hole in your face with my eyes- cranky. So rather then say mean things I may regret later, I’m gonna tip the hat I’m not wearing and call it a night. Later folks.

Please tell me I’m not as ancient as I feel right now. You all still remember the TV show “Early Edition” right? I’m not… I’m not becoming “that guy” that makes references to things that no one remembers anymore am I? Huh? Now that I’m thinking about that, I should see if that show is available on Netflix or something. I really did love that thing…

This is a simple fact that I’m beginning to learn about myself. Whenever I get a chance to meld two well loved properties into one hilariously odd amalgamation… well that’s some low hanging fruit I’m gonna pick each and every time. Still though, perhaps I should be ashamed of this… I say perhaps because really I’m not. Again, this is just something I’ve about myself… something that for some bizarre reason I felt like sharing with all of you fine people. Alright well, it’s time to call it a day. Judging my the awful taste in my sinuses and the ache in my muscles, I have a hell of a cold to wake up to in the morning.
