Gina K. Designs New Release Blog Hop- Day 3

Hi Everyone!

It's our final day of new release inspiration and today, the design team is showcasing beautiful projects featuring the new Fruit of the Season StampTV Kit! This kit is now available at www.ginakdesigns.com in the What's New category.

This kit is filled with two large 6"X8" stamp sets, two die sets and 24 sheets of Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury card stock. If you didn't get a chance to see the release party presentation video, you can watch it here:

The cards in this video were made with the Sparkling Snowflake stamp set.

Snowflakes have always been a favorite of mine because they not only make beautiful holiday cards, but they can be used all winter long for all kinds of card projects!

Here are two more cards I made using the Fruit of the Season stamp set:

If you look closely, you will notice a typo in the first card's greeting. We already know about that and your kit will include a replacement stamp with a note about it tucked inside a little bag. We didn't catch it in time to replace it prior to manufacturing so we included it in the kit for you to replace. Just throw out the other one as the word "Thoughtfulness" is spelled incorrectly.

In case you missed it, I shared a couple of projects in a video featuring the new Holiday Wreath Builder and one of the techniques I showed you was how to create a wreath on a longer card panel. Many of you have asked how to use the Wreath Builder to created an A2 size card and this is one of the ways to do it.

I used the Holiday Wreath Builder along with the Scripty Holiday stamp set for the greeting but you can use any longer greeting along with bottom for this style card.

I have some exciting news for you today! Gina K. Designs and ThermOWeb just released our new Autumn Stamp-n-Foil line! We have two beautiful Stamp-n-Foil collections and two brand new background pattern packs.

CRAFTING WITH COMPASSION + INTRODUCING CELEBRATE YOU

I am so honored to part of this blog hop!

Today, a bunch of us are helping to promote a new stamp set and die set available at Neat & Tangled that was designed for a very special reason.

We are showcasing the new Celebrate You Stamp Set and Celebrate You dies and they are now available for purchase HERE in the Neat & Tangled Shop. All profits from the sale of both products will go towards helping families in need receive financial assistance at The Neurologic Relief Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The donations will be made to The Burning Limb Foundation, who works with The Neurologic Relief Center directly.

My friend Danielle owns Neat & Tangled and here is a little bit about why we are doing this blog hop and fundraiser today. (I made a card featuring these items and you can see it at the bottom of this post.)

Neat and Tangled owner Danielle Walls father, Dan, became unexpectedly ill after a routine knee surgery. He had a series of complications following the procedure and then developed and was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) in March of 2017. CRPS is a complex, progressive disease of the nervous system. The pain is characterized as constant and extremely intense. The pain is often accompanied by swelling, skin changes, extreme sensitivity, and in most cases is debilitating. You can read much more about his journey HERE.

It is difficult to put into words how much of a nightmare CRPS is, so please take a few minutes to watch this short video to get a better understanding of how life altering this disease can be.

After several failed attempts to heal through traditional medicine, at the end of their ropes, Danielle and her family discovered Dr. Katinka van der Merwe and The Neurologic Relief Center. Dr. Katinka specializes in revolutionary, non-invasive, non-pharcaeutical therapies to treat patients suffering from CRPS. THIS is a great article written by Dr. Katinka outlining what it is they do. Treatment at this center is costly, as insurance will not cover most of the therapies they provide. It is also 10-12 weeks of treatment, and requires living in Arkansas near the clinic for the duration of the the treatment.

Because of the kindness and compassion of friends, family, and the crafting community, enough funds were raised so that Danielle's father was able to receive care at the Center. He arrived in Arkansas in August of 2017, and at the end of October 2017, with Danielle by his side, Dan was able to ring the bell at the completion of his treatment. You can view the video of his bell ringing ceremony HERE, please keep in mind that when Dan had first arrived in Arkansas he had lost significant weight, was depressed and anxious, was unable to hold conversation and was easily confused, and was almost completely immobile. To see him smiling, standing and speaking just 11 short weeks later is nothing short of a miracle. In December of 2017 he was able to return to work full time, and he is just enjoying life each day now! I encourage you to take a look at the rest of the The Neurologic Relief Center's Facebook page to see interviews with patients, and question and answer videos from Dr. K and her staff.

Most patients with CRPS have exhausted their funds trying any and all other treatments some causing more harm than good, most have put themselves into great debt seeking healing. Many are just unable to afford the cost of care at The Neurologic Relief Center to begin with. If it were not for the help of fundraising, Dan would have left the center in extreme debt which is such a burden to overcome.

It has been on Danielle's heart ever since then to pay it forward to others who are in a similar situation. The biggest help in Dan's fundraising, was when Simon Says Stamp donated all the sales of Neat and Tangled's 2017 STAMPtember set to Dan's GoFundMe, you can see more about that HERE. So many of you bought that set, and had a hand in Dan's healing whether you knew it or not! Using the same idea, Danielle has started the Crafting With Compassion campaign, and designed the Celebrate You stamp set and Celebrate You dies to help this cause. All profits from the sales of these sets will go directly towards CRPS patients in financial need at The Neurologic Relief Center, and also those who are still waiting to get to the center due to financial limitations. If you wish, you can also just make a straight donation with no purchase necessary on the Neat and Tangled website. All funds raised will be donated to The Burning Limb Foundation, who in turn will work with Dr. Katinka to distribute the funds. The purpose of Crafting With Compassion is to remind us that not only should we feel empathy for those suffering, but we should also take action and do something about it.

Please realize the power we have when we all come together. Even if everyone just does a little, it can add up to a lot. Because of the compassion of others, Dan's life was truly changed. Now, let's help change some more!

I had a lot of fun using these sets! I mixed them with the Rose Lace Background stamp by Gina K. Designs and did a little emboss resist to add the color. Then, I embossed the smaller greeting and die cut the large Celebrate You to great the focal image of the card.

I'm really excited about these new Foil-Mates designs. Here is a look at all four new options:

I made a lot of projects featuring this new line and I have a new video that's a little bit long, but there is so much fun to share!

In my first project, I used the new Better with You Sentiment Pack along with Bold Backdrops for the background. Then, I used the negative piece to create a second version! This really expands your opportunities to use every bit of foil in beautiful ways!

In my second project, I made a birthday card and some matching tags. I used the new Birthday Bash Sentiment set along with the new Tag Borders for the tags. For the backgrounds, I used the Time to Celebrate backgrounds along with Stars and Stripes. I mixed in some of the Time to Celebrate Stamp-n-Foil System and my project was ready as a card and a matching tag to hang off of a gift! In my video, I show you how easy it is to use two colors of foil at one time for a multi-color effect.

In my third project, I used the new Label Borders and I mixed in an older Gina K. Design stamp set called Spring Blessings. I also used the Vibrant Vines Background pack to create a rich leafy backdrop. I love how you can mix any of your stamps with the new Tag Borders and Label Borders and cut them our with the Tag and Label Dies Sets. This is a great way to add a little sparkle to your every day stamping projects. And they also are great for framing out photos for scrapbook pages.

I have been into watercolor lately! So for my project, I chose to use the new Rose Peonies from the Sunshine and Love StampTV Kit.

First, I watercolored my images with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

Then, I stamped a greeting from the Painted Autumn stamp set and cut it out with Double Stitched Ovals dies and layered it on top of one of the Single Stitched Ovals dies. Then, I arranged my bouquet with adhesive and foam squares to add dimension. I created the texture in the background using the large 6 X 6 Gauze Background stamp and stamping it with Moonlit Fog Ink.

Here is an up close shot of my flowers. By embossing them first with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder, it made it easier for me to watercolor and stay inside the lines. It's my favorite way to use watercolors.

Here is the card that I created for today's hop. I focused on the woodland creatures and chose the Ocean Mist, Sweet Corn and Moonlit Fog color scheme. These are the closest colors from our Gina K. Designs brand.

I did a little woodgraining on the strip of my card and used a new background stamp coming to Gina K. Designs this Thursday night to create the yellow texture. I used the GKD stamp set called Bounty of Blessings to stamp the owl and greeting. I also added a little button with twine and colored the owl with Copic Markers.

Personal Update- Life has a way...

Hi Everyone,
Just a disclaimer- this is a personal post with no real crafting involved so if you aren't interested in that sort of thing, carry on with your day and thank you for checking in! XO

For those interested, here's an update.

Life has a way of bringing the right people together at the right time.

Lately, life has been a bit crazy. My beautiful mom, Ruth, celebrated her 91st birthday last week.
Here is a photo of her at the DMV a couple of weeks ago. She finally decided to surrender her driver's license which was very hard for her. It made her feel sad. I am sure she liked knowing that she could jump in her car anytime and go somewhere without help. But it was time and I am proud of her for admitting it. There is so much dignity in surrendering rather than having something taken away. And it's a mature and thoughtful decision.

My mom's health has been failing lately and she really needs someone to take care of her. We talked about assisted living but she is totally against it.

So Tom and I decided that we would sell our house and buy a different house that had a first floor bedroom and full bathroom so my mom could come and live with us. And I would take care of her.

We close on our new house on May 7th and my Mom will move in around the first week of June. I am a little nervous because I have never done this sort of thing before. But I also never took care of babies before and somehow, love helps you figure it all out.

I am moving my studio, office and craft room into my home so I can start doing videos from home as well as work on designing new products and projects. I am actually pretty excited about that!

I think it will be good. My Mom tends to eat a lot of microwave frozen foods because she can't lift her arms due to bad shoulders so I am looking forward to cooking her healthy, yummy meals. I am also looking forward to her being close by so at night I don't have to worry that she is laying on the floor with nobody to help her. (I'm thinking of adding a baby monitor into her room so I can hear her call me at night if she needs me.) I am also excited that she will be part of my every day life and the girls will get to see her whenever they come home. I know they are happy about that too. They love her so much.

Here is a photo of all of us this past Christmas in our current house. We currently live in a tiny two bedroom condo.

This past week, we headed out to Philadelphia for a wedding. We were so excited to go because BOTH of our girls were coming in for it and it was a little bit of family time for us.

Then it hit. Poor Rina got hit with what we think was food poisoning. That was TWICE in a matter of four weeks. I guess it takes a long time to come back 100% and you are especially vulnerable to anything that a healthy person could tolerate for awhile after you have been poisoned.

So Rina spent the entire weekend in bed at the hotel and then we moved to a hotel by the airport and I stayed an additional two days with her until she was able to fly again without being sick.

We actually tried to leave and Alicia agreed to stay with her, but our flight got canceled due to weather and when we got back to the hotel, she was bad enough to want to go to the hospital.

I am so glad she is feeling better. She was so worried about not doing her Monday video. I told her it had been two weeks since I did my last video and every single one of my subscribers are the kindest people on earth and would never be upset!

And here is one of Alicia and Rina together during a moment when Rina felt good enough to come down and meet a few relatives she hadn't yet met. (That lasted about 1/2 hour.)

So like I said earlier, life has a way of bringing the right people together at the right time. I am so thankful my flight was canceled and I could be there to take Rina to the hospital. I am so thankful my mom is coming to live with us and that I can do my job from home. And I am SO thankful for your patience with me as a very behind and somewhat frazzled YouTuber.

I know things will get better soon and the inspiration and videos will flow again. I actually postponed my new kit a couple of weeks so I can get caught up. Once I am settled into my new space, I will give you the grand tour.

I am so excited today because our new colors are here!

I first want to show you some special collections and then I have some photos to share that will show you how our new colors compare to the rest of our collection.

All of the ink pads, ink cubes, reinkers, card stock colors, pre-cut card stock and envelopes are available in single colors packs. But we have some special collections along with one limited edition, exclusive collection.

You can get a card stock assortment that contains 3 sheets of each of the new card stock colors.

And you can also get a matching envelope assortment that contains three of each of the new envelope colors.

Also available is an ink cube collection that has eight of the 10 new ink colors. Not included are Sandy Beach and the new Jet Black Amalgam Ink. But they are available separately.

For a very limited time, we have an exclusive collection of eight of the new full size ink pads. Not included are Sandy Beach and the new Jet Black Amalgam Ink. But they are available separately as well.

All of these new colors will continue to be available as part of our regular line and no colors are currently being discontinued.

Sandy Beach is available in ink pads, ink cubes, reinkers, card stock, pre-cut card stock and envelopes.

Our new Amalgam Ink is available in ink pads, ink cubes and reinkers. Amalgam Ink is a new ink that works with Copic Markers, Watercolors and Colored Pencils with Gamsol and will not bleed at all! Now you can mix all three coloring types together on one project with no bleeding. And you can pre-stamp tons of images and not have to wonder which ink you used when you are ready to color them. Great for travel, this one ink will cover all the bases. It's crisp and jet black. I know you're going to love it as much as I do!

Now I'd like to show you some photos of how the new colors compare to our existing line. I have placed an asterisk next to the new colors. I did add Sandy Beach as a new color because of the new ink that coordinates with the card stock and envelopes. For Amalgam Ink, Black Onyx is a perfect match.

*Monitors vary from computer to computer so use this as a guide to see the differences between the colors rather than an exact replica of the color. On my screen, they look exactly like the card stock colors in real life.

I hope these photos are useful in helping you determine how these colors will fit into what you already have.
