A gang of ninja broke into the studio and…Oh, wait. No. That’s what happened at my last book club meeting.

Jeff and Lisa from MITN Lansing chatted about their e-waste recycling event on Jan. 26th. This is a free event, and they will take pretty much any sort of computer, gadget or jet-pack you want to dispose of (OK, maybe not jet-packs. But I will take THOSE).

From the MITN site:

[...]cell phones, batteries (of all kinds), computer accessories (keyboards, mice, cords, cables, software), computer monitors, desktop/tower computers, laptops, tablets, TVs (under 32″), and video game systems.  (Donations are limited to this list.)

The drop-off location is St. Stephen’s Community Church located at 1007 Kimberly Dr., in Lansing just west of Frandor Shopping Center.

First Segment (00:00 to +/- 15:00) Live, from the Lansing Public Media Center (recorded 12.06.11) Kat Cooper and Daniel J. Hogan (along with Melik the producer) chat with Betty Erik and Veronica about their plans to survive a possible Zombie Apocalypse. Topics include: supplies, where to hide out (strip clubs make a good spot, apparently), and weapons of choice.

 Second Segment (+/- 15:00 to End): Tim Schmitt returns for another edition of Tastes Like Schmitt. Tim shares an easy recipe for chicken turnovers. Tasty!

Ingredients:

1 cup, cooked chicken breast

2 tbsp chopped onion

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

salt and pepper to taste

2 tubes, crescent rolls

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 375

2. Shred cooked chicken breast. Combine, onion, shredded chicken, and cheese in a bowl. Season to taste.

3. Unroll and separate crescent rolls. Slightly stretch each one and put a big spoonful of chicken mixture in the middle. Wrap the crescent roll up, sealing edges.

4. Bake for 15-20 in the preheated over, or until just browned, but not crunchy.

Kat and Daniel have “gone fishin’” –metaphorically that is. This week’s show is short and features an improv game Daniel cribbed remembered from his days in an improv comedy group, called “Every Other Line.”

Daniel improvs a scene while Kat reads every other line of dialogue from a play. Hilarity ensues! Maybe.

Kat and Daniel had photos taken for Geek the Library, and will be featured on posters and signs (their photos were taken by Dave Trumpie).

Lansing blogger Suban Nur Cooley comes back to share an update on her blog, Poppy on a Kite. Look out Kat, Suban is about to venture into fashion territory! Meanwhile, Daniel rambles on about Duran Duran, the Monkees, Liquid Paper, and how they relate to MTV.

Daniel finally gets the episode number correct, and keeps going on and on about taking part in the Hawk Island Triathlon. But, he’s dedicated. He even bested a flooded River Trail to continue his bike training.

Meanwhile, Kat’s chihuahua, Ollie, is an “escape artist”–which leads to hilarious results. And ruined carpet.

Shannon Rolley, from the Old Town Commercial Association, shares the scoop on Old Town winning a Great American Main Street Award.
