Messy bun with hair extensions

Today I want to show you how to make a messy bun with hair extension...

Clip your hair extension to the bun, I've used one 3 clip weft and 1 two clips weft; remember not to use to much extension because we need to fit out ponytail trough the hole in the bun as well

Once you've clipped the extension to the bun put the hair inside the donut, spread it all over it and secure it with a bobby pin

Pull all your hair up into a high ponytail and don't worry: it doesn't have to be neat, also the higher the ponytail the higher the bun will be. (If you want your bun to sit right on top of your head and have trouble with a high ponytail, just tip your head upside down, this way it will be so much easier).

Put your hair through the hair donut.

Flip your hair all around the donut covering all sides of the bun, take another hair tie and put it around the donut/bun, then take the hair sticking out and wrap it around making sure to cover the hair tie and the wefts -is they are still visible- finally secure it all with bobby pins and hair spray.

And you've done!

Foxy Locks extension: six months update

Today I want to talk about Foxy Locks extension. As you may know these extensions are available in three different sets all of them 20 inches long: Regular (125 gr), Deluxe (165 gr) and Superior (230 gr). I bought the Regular one last January and after six months of wearing them basically every day, I'm ready to tell you if they're good and worth your money or not. So let’s jump right in and start with:

The clips: they were (and still are) my biggest disappointment.Over all they are not bad clips: they're small, thin, with a silicon band underneath to make them more sturdy but there is a teeny-tiny problem:they BROKE! Yes, you've heard it: they start to break in the corner and everytime you wear the extension the little crack will get larger util the clips break for good and don't stay in your hair anymore. To make things worse the clips started to break after only 2 months of using them (around March) and it wasn't my fault because I don't spend all the day clip and unclip them in my hair , I put them on in the morning and take them out in the evening, so I don't "stress" the clips too much, they are just made with poor plastic, that is all. I've changed already 10 clips.

I also noticed a bit of shedding and from January till now these extension have lost 25 grams of hair, leaving me with only 100 which is slightly enough for my hair. But I think that it's not a huge problem: we are talking about hair sewn onto a weft so it's normal that everytime we brush it some hair will fall down even if we are as gentle as possible in using our brushes/comb. I've read and watched tons of reviews on Youtube and other blogs and many people were saying that their Foxy Locks had lost so many hair leaving them with a set of extension with little hair attached to the wefts, but honestly this isn't my case, the shedding is there but it's not massive. I think they will arrive at the end of the year when I'll buy new ones.

The hair quality: it's not bad, but it's not good either. The extension were probably coated in a layer of silicon, because straight out of the package they were REALLY soft and smooth (couldn't stop run my fingers through them), then, after the dye (I bought them in the colour beach blonde) and with a couple of shampoo, this silicon coat went away leaving behind it still soft hair but not as soft and smooth as it was in the beginning.

When I touch the extension and my own hair I can't feel any kind of difference, but I've noticed that if I let them air dry with rollers in it, the hair will feel like doll hair, which is no good. So my advice is: if you want to curl them, go ahead and do it, but with a curly iron or hot rollers, just use a good heat protectant on the hair and you won't have a problem, but definitely don't let them air dry with rollers in it if you want avoid doll hair. They don't tangle at the nape of your neck, but if you’re planning to be out all day take with you a brush and comb the hair every once in a while, just to be on the safe side.

In the end I think Foxy Looks aren't bad, especially if you consider the amount of hair that you get for the price you pay, but the company could definitely improve the quality of the clips and give a better attention to little details (no more hanging pieces of thread, please!). If you are new with clip hair extension and you want to give them a try, Foxy Locks is a good place to start, but there are definitely better quality clip hair extension out there.

Review: Echosline Colour depositing mask for ginger hair in Fire Opal

Those of you redheads out there well know how hard it is to watch your beautiful and hard achieved colour go down the drain every time you wash your hair.

Since I've embraced the red, or better, the ginger side, I've tried tons of products to make my colour last as long as possible in between dyes. Here in Italy, where I live, the choice is little, in fact there are fewer depositing colour products for red hair (or for other colours too for that matter XD) than in Country like the UK or US and the biggest part of them or is too expensive or it's not effective.

But recently I've stumbled upon a product that has become a holy grail for me when it comes to make my ginger colour more vibrant and long lasting: I'm talking about the colour depositing mask'Color-up' by Echosline, an Italian brand specialised in professional hairdressing products.

What I love about this, is its very easy and foolproof application, in fact the consistency of this mask it's a perfect match between liquid and dense, so when you're going to put it on your hair it's very hard to make mistakes or to miss a spot.

The smell is amazing (like raspberries),but it might be too strong, so if you don't like fragrances stay away from it, even though the smell in your hair won't be so intense once you've dried it.

I apply this mask every time I wash my hair, because I like having an intense result, but you can totally use it just when you feel like your colour is starting to fade away.

How to use it: after you've washed your hair, towel dry it (I recommend to use an old cotton tee for this, because it's more gentle with your hair than a towel, just wrap the tee around your head and leave it on for a couple of minutes so it will absorb the excess of water), then apply the mask, if you want you can help yourself using a wide tooth comb to distribute the product all over your hair , from roots to ends.

Then you want to leave it on from 3 to 20 minutes, depending on the intensity of colour that you want, after this, thoughtfully rinse the mask off your hair till you can't see lather anymore. Blow dry or leave them air dry and you've done! It's also a good conditioning mask: your colour will be renewed and your hair will be soft ans smooth, things that don't happen with other similar products. It's a win-win situation here, isn't it?

Be careful because the mask stains your hands and your chlotes so be sure to use gloves and on old towel and to wear an old T-shirt as well.

This mask is a pretty sweet deal between results and price (the price is around 6 to 17 €, depending on where you buy it, you can find it even for more than that, but in that case I won't recommend buying it) and even if you're not in Italy you can easily find this it on Ebay.
