Dear diary!

Am I the only one who does this random action?

When i'm in town I usually look through all stalls, and when I see a stall full of sox and random crap, I understand that the guy is new and dont know that the sox is worth 0, I always buy a few items to get him some gold to get started on the server, same for consignment, always buy elixirs that I dont need to feed ppl some gold so they dont quit due to povery, and put in tons of stones into consignment just so ppl can find what they need? I think its a easy geasture thats healthy for the community and more should do it, if you see a newb, help him out, even if you know you'll npc the shit you jsut bought from him

So friday was a active day on the server I heard, I was out all day due to good weather, meaning my guide in previous post failed.

There was 3 parties at naiad ksing eachother, I really enjoyed it, more fun not knowing if you'll get the kill or not

In the evening we decided to level our lowlvls that we recruited from another private server(not naming it but you all know wich one I mean:) )

and we got some thieves coming in invis/stealth zerking us over nad over for a good hour, was fun to combine grinding with pvp, they even whiped us twice meaning it wasnt 100% secure, making the cave fun

When I heard they where adding the job cave, this is what I imagined, thieves and hunters going back and forth slaughtering eachother, and it will get even better with the uniques!

I just must add. This guy "Devils" keeps running around asking me when im going to return his garment egy set that I scammed from him. Reason he started saying this is because I was killing Monsters over and over for stealing a 2hand when he was in Infensus union, calling him a scammer, about 5min later I got the hole SaintSinner cough I mean SainktSinner guild standing around me telling me to return a garmetn set xD

I guess it's a great tactic, if someone accuses you of something, accuse that person of the same thing!

As for some server news. I've seen less and less shadow, but instead i've seen another guild called DarkDivision wich is made out of ex-infensus, a new thiefguild wich is doing really great. They got a good 20* Zenobia told me in the ravine today with 4 people. Guess they should be counted as a threat since they can kill and steal, I hope they'll keep growing, they got a good core, wich is the recipe to a good start for a guild.
Also I'd like to say WB to Vaya, him and naira are like the good and the bad,they are both wizards, running around in the jobcave all day zerking/offering ppl one is a hunter, one is a thief, both loves jobbing.

I love to see this, and also i've been monitoring activity on server. I like the boast its gotten from Legend 4 first patch, lets hope it keeps going this direction. Only concern is that homesite is going up and down, making less peopl ebe able to find us, download us, join our community. So lets hope it stabilizes asap.

Stop the Internet Blacklist Legislation

I just emailed Congress to urge them to oppose the Internet Blacklist Legislation, known as the PROTECT-IP Act in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House. This legislation seeks to give the executive branch power to conduct slash-and-burn campaigns against websites that allegedly host – or even link to – content that infringes on intellectual property rights. That would “disappear” whole domain names, fundamentally undermining Internet security, and/or choke off their financial support. The Internet Blacklist Legislation puts more sites than ever at risk, effectively upending the DMCA safe harbors that have been crucial to the growth of Internet innovation and creativity.
Sadly, these short-sighted and dangerous bills won’t do much to stop online infringement – but they will jeopardize our ability to speak and read online with the kind of freedom we cherish in the offline world. Deep-pocketed Hollywood lobbyists are aggressively pushing to control and censor the open Internet, willing to sacrifice free speech and our Internet culture in hopes of controlling how people view their movies and products.

About a level 70 cap:

High level caps create a huge gap in the community between the start of the game and lowest sustainable party level. A 70 cap server would put the lowest sustainable party level somewhere around crabs, which is something people wont mind soloing to on a 4x solo exp bonus rate. After crabs, parties should be plentiful on a 70 cap legit server. A cap of 80 puts the party level at sungsungs, 90 puts it at the ice, and 100 kills low level parties altogether leaving only power-leveling as a viable way to level up. We want to avoid repeating the mistakes of iSro and that begins with a 70 cap that will not ever go up.

What about higher level content?

Since the files are unlikely to ever be released again, the 110 content we currently have is the only content any vsro based pserver will ever be able to provide. Which means with some reworking, we can tailor fit that content to a 70 cap and offer a vast endgame of repeatable fun content without having to ever raise the cap!

What is unique about Silkroad Salvation?

Silkroad Salvation aims at taking Silkroad to the next level. We want to eliminate the grind treadmill and turn silkroad into a viable game for both casuals and hardcore players. Our main focus is PvP content. We did this by moving Battle Arena onto a 2 hour timetable replacing the lame campfest of CTF. PvP players will not need to grind a second past 70. All there gear will be available via battle arena along with the tablets and elixers needed to pimp the gear out.

PvE players are not left out. We are adding mini-uniques all around the gameworld with drops worth fighting for. PvE instances such as Roc and Pharaohs Tomb will drop gear equivalent to the PvP gear. No matter your playstyle, you will be able to enjoy the game and be competitive.

Yeah I can admit it. I just work now. XBox tech support has eaten up my life! The Kinect launch was crazy, I worked like 65 hours a week. The overtime was kickass tho.

I wish I could give detailed stories about being an Xbox tech support agent. The job is mostly cool, chill ppl who game. But there is this dark part, that small percentage of women who are the unfortunate mothers of 13 year old boys who have access to credit card information. They make my blood run cold. Yes, I have heard perfectly sane women say things like, "Xbox is stealing my CC information, not my darling child who would never, EVER do that without my permission." Yes lady, an xbox agent broke into your home and stole your CC information to character assassinate your dear boy. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight....

It seems an old image of mine has resurfaced again. The thread is in SRF somewhere, but here is the original image. LINK I made that for my BFF and it just keeps popping back up in the strangest places. lol

I also got a chance to beta test a game called Rift. It was OK I guess. They call it some revolutionary game design but I didnt really see it. The PVP was less than satisfying and really, that is always the most fun part of any game. I thought the skills were pretty sluggish feeling and they had a universal cooldown which is always a bummer. I hate waiting for skills to recharge.

Still waiting for TERA and GW2 to come out so I can test drive them, I have high hopes! Forsaken World kinda sucked and Rift says it is going P2P. Really, in order for that to work, it would have to significantly change.

Other than that, there isnt much going on. Work and more work. ^^

I am a naughty, naughty blogger.... I have been way too busy! You want to know the worst of it? I have a job now. *ducks* Yeah, I know, the perennial gamer chick has capitulated and gotten a real job. But it is a gamer girl job! No really, Im working at home doing tech support for XBox Live. No, you can't call me.

Also, Fly and I are quitting Aion and going off to a new game. It's not so much that Aion really has any problems, it's that Aion's makers have decided that their game would be more successful as a PVE oriented game and not a PVP oriented one. They killed rifting by giving the a buff against rifters, they added a new system that you can only meet up with the other faction under special circumstances, they increased the requirements for AP items but reduced the opportunities for earning AP and made medals untradeable. Almost all 1 v. 1 encounters (and they are rare) are won or lost based on RMT (para proc, who jumps who first) or gear based with it being, if you have good gear you can faceroll 90% of the population and the other 10% just based on chance. Here is the last shot of my char. T__T

But instead of concentrating on this past, Im gonna talk about the future. First, we are really looking forward to playing Guild Wars 2. While no one really knows when this is going to be released, pre-orders have just recently gone on sale on sites like Amazon and Game Stop. A lot of the Aion Avalon group is going to be playing this. Also, we are going to try TERA but unfortunately there is no real ETA for this one other than next year some time.

Oh, a lot has been going on but I just havent had the oomph to do much blogging lately. So here is a basic rundown of what's been up.

I got a job. OMG! It's just part time and it started out just because my vaccume cleaner broke and I wanted a really expensive new one. But the job is OK, I think ill keep it for a bit.

I've been going outside. WTF? It totally goes against everything I stand for as a gamer, but yeah, there have been some great outdoor adventures. You can check out my latest adventures here on my flickr account. All of the recent ones are from Mount Erie on the island next to mine, Fidalgo. It was a nice day hike and the view was kickass. RL has the best graphics...

I discovered Squiby. It's annoyingly fun. I have always liked those little adoptable websites where you level up some little creature through forum clicks but this one is the mother of them all because its not one artist creating lots of adoptables, its thousands of them. Most aren't that nice looking but a lot of them are awesome just cause they are all different and unique looking.

I don't really watch much TV anymore except True Blood and First 48. Now that ninjavideo is gone, I do my watching on icefilms.com. I have even chitchatted on the little chat in there a couple times cause I was bored. Speaking of True Blood, if you watch it, tell me, was that sex scene where the chick got her head turned around backwards a bit over the top? I read all the books and that DEFINITELY wasn't in there. I'm not saying it shouldn't have been, it was just "dot dot dot" for me.

I'm still playing Aion. They merged a bunch of servers together which seemed cool at first cause there would be more people to play with but they didn't really take into account balance when they did it. Now Aion has two Elyos dominated servers, one kinda balanced one and one Asmo dominated server. Doesn't sound too bad until you factor in the free server switching. Yes, free. So you are getting roflpwn'd on your server? Go to one where your faction dominates! Instead of being a little out of balance, now they are wildly out of whack. On New Vaizel Eloys are outnumbered 5 to 1. The good part? Dredge pops instantly, dailies aren't really a problem and LFG is always full of people talking (OK, QQing, but who's counting).

Oh and on a side note, I got this coupon code from artscow.com for a free mouse pad. Mine was old and shabby so I made one. I got it in the mail on Saturday and it's kickass. I also sent one to Fly cause the 2nd one was only $1.99. I <3 being able to make stuff like this and artscow.com is massive, you can make all kinds of things. You should check it out and no, this isn't a paid endorsement, I just like the site. Pictured left is the actual image of the mouse pad I made. The screenshot I used for my pad is an old one from taking artifacts long before merge. Good times!

I have to admit something to put this post in perspective. I haven't bought a single CD or song in over 5 years. Yes it's true. I'm not going to admit to anything here, just keep that in mind. It's not that I don't think most musicians deserve the money, I guess some of them do, its just that most music isn't that good or it's managed by corporate dildos like WMG who block half of Youtube in a misguided effort to keep me from hearing the sounds their artists make. I oblige them and don't listen. That's my story and Im sticking to it.

But then I accidentally stumbled upon Auto Tune The News. Funny, funny, FUNNY. At first it was funny cause they are making stupid politicians sound amazing. But then the tunes themselves kinda grew on me. I even tracked them down on AmieSt and bought one of their songs.

Yeah, it's addicting and there are 11 of them. You can plainly see the progression as they get better at the sound (The green screen needs work, I love you guys, but really...) going from ATTN #1 through ATTN #11 (shown above). You kinda have to watch the whole series cause there are running jokes through them all like the badly treated gorilla suit and a fascination with charts. I even bought the song called "Space People From the Future" because I found myself singing it when I was bored, at a stoplight or listening to my mother on the phone. Just kidding, I love you Mom. It's insidious.

If you want to learn more about these guys, cause really I think they deserve the backlink, check them out at The Gregory Brothers website. And don't pirate their music cause if you're gonna stick it to someone, stick it to the man, not the victims of Space People from the Future. That is just wrong.

My take on it:

I liked the lack of classes, the open skill set and the ability to put your stat points wherever you want. The map is fairly large with lots of areas to explore on my cow... yes, you heard me, on my cow.

Like most F2P games, they give you free premium items when you start so that you get used to the feeling and purchase them when they run out. So they give you a dairy cow rental mount. It is faster than walking. I found the endless quests to be inhibiting and the skill casting style to be strange with an SP meter that charges with common attacks. You use the SP to cast your skills, so you have to be able to take some dmg. Im not sure I like that every battle with nearly every mob is pretty epic and kinda slow. The quests aren't demanding but they are spread out so you spend a long time in each area running from this place to that place. While I like the fact that the quests give you a direction to level in, I dont really like playing the new MMO called Mailman Online. The server also had some issues with crashing inexplicably and the official forums are full of scary complaints.

Overall it was a nice distraction and I spent a day or two on it. It wasnt a particularly good game or a bad game, just another mediocre mmo.

How to make a website FAIL

Use Vbulletin 4. That is all you gotta do. We thought that upgrading our legion site from vBulletin 3.8 to 4 would be awesome. We were promised great things like blogging and a CMS, all perfectly integrated into the forum. What we got was a mess and bleeeeeehhhhh! The CMS was super ugly and hard to work with. Despite it's convoluted permissions and posting rules, it was plain and not that functional.

The forum itself was slow and clunky. My host shut it down on a regular basis because it went over the amount of queries it was supposed to have. It also threw up tons of errors and filled my inbox. Most of these errors came from mods that werent installed anymore.

So we deleted it. Yup... DELETE.

We went back to our old setup of Joomla + PHPbb3. It looks nicer, has no errors, has way less queries and someone using 56K can load it in a reasonable time. It's a shame the legion wasted it's money on vB 4. We just assumed that if vBulletin 3.X was good, 4.X would be even better. NO!

Avalon also has a new domain name, tho it's not functional quite yet. http://avalonguild.com will be the new home of Avalon. We didn't bring the forums with us, we literally just deleted them, so if you want to sign up there, you gotta make a new account.

Pretty in Pink

The Koreans love to put female chars in ridiculous clothes. Sometimes, its okay. Plate armor is generally skimpy but still kinda badass looking. But I'm a sorcerer and for some reason they think I want to look like I'm on my way to a 6 year old's birthday party.

ZOMG frilly, pink, butterflies and bows... ARGH! That is NOT BADASS looking. I come charging across the Abyss at someone and I look like the estrogen fairy, not the harbinger of death and destruction! But I made the best of it. This week NCSoft came out with a frivolous magazine subscription drive that included bubblegum pink wings and I bought them to complete my estrogen fairy ensemble.

Oh yeah.... Now they will fear me and run from my evil pinkness!!! Nope... no matter how you look at it, pink just doesnt seem very scary. Silkroad was pretty good at giving you armors and such that were grownup looking and they tended to avoid pink. I remember it fondly for at least that.

Joymax is a company existing under the laws of South Korea primarily involved with the development of computer games. The Defendant, and others associated with him, appear to be residents of the country of Poland. Plaintiff alleges that the Defendants stole their source code and launched a duplicate online game website. Joymax also alleges that it has invested over $10 million in the development, marketing, and distribution of its online game and that the source code is a trade secret.

Plaintiff has sued for copyright infringement, false advertising, trademark infringement, and theft of trade secrets. The Plaintiff has requested preliminary and permanent injunctive relief, damages according to proof, an order for the reassignment of Defendant’s domain name to Plaintiff, costs of suit, and attorneys’ fees. TERA! Behind bars

The Story:
In terms of Lineage 3's code disclosure lawsuit, the South Korean court has recently ruled that the 4 core developers of Lineage 3 (including the former development director) and their current employer Bluehole Studio should compensate NCsoft by 2 billion Wons.

This is the civil ruling, following the criminal one in which the core developers of Bluehole Studio were found guilty (on Jun. 26, 2009, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced the former development director of Lineage 3 - Mr. Park to a fixed-term imprisonment of one and a half years with a 2-year suspension of execution for malfeasance and disclosure of business secrets). According to Bluehole Studio, they're not satisfied with the judgement, and will lodge an appeal immediately.

On Jan. 28, the civil department of the Seoul Central District Court rendered a verdict and required the 4 involved defendants including Mr. Park to compensate NCsoft by 2 billion Wons. Meanwhile, the defendants were also ordered not to disclose NCsoft's business secrets to any others, but clear up all related data in hand.

Though at present, NCsoft wins the lawsuit no matter in the criminal judgement or in the civil one, it's still unknown if the MMORPG TERA under development by Bluehole Studio will be fatally affected.

Mr. Park, formerly in charge of Lineage 3's development, got in touch with a Japanese company in 2006 with the aim of attracting investment, and disclosed certain plans related to Lineage 3. Mr. Bae, who was responsible for other projects at that time, was also involved in this matter. Moreover, the former developers of Lineage 3 including Mr. Kang and Mr. Yo switched over to Bluehole Studio after the cancelation of Lineage 3, and applied certain technologies originally adopted in the development of Lineage 3 in Bluehole Studio's new project - Project S1 (currently named TERA) Story from: MMOsite

My Take:
This story makes me cry... I was really looking forward to this game, trying it out. Now it's future looks murky! Fly and I both talked about testing it out when we could cause when we found it long ago, we were really impressed with it. There hasnt been much news on the western website about this game in the last year, just an unmoderated forum where people playing the KR beta are posting news and screens. Ill try to keep up with this and let you know what is going on with this beautiful looking game.

About TERA:
Tera Online is an upcoming 3D fantasy MMORPG. Tera intends to set itself apart with its lack of targeting, giving players full control over each move instead of targeting or hotkeys, emphasizing skills in combat. Additionally, the world will not be instanced, placing all players in the same space. This is also significant since player influence will play a huge role in shaping both Tera's economy and its community.

There are set to be six races, with eight classes to choose from, each locked in an ongoing war to protect his or her kingdom. The game is currently in development and scheduled for a release in 2010. It will be subscription based.

So, its been forever since I updated my blog. I've been a busy gamer girl. Ill start giving you tidbits relating to Aion a lot more often now that I have capped out and am settling into a routine. Let me tell you what's been happening.

First of all, I really liked my gladiator char, Nightbloom. It was tough and simple, straightforward fighter and for me, a bit boring. I thought that would wear off but as I leveled (all the way to 47) I liked it less and less. It was slow to me and kind of useless in a party. Not totally useless so dont start sending me hate mail all you glads out there, but it seemed I wasnt as strong as a tank and didnt dish out as much DPS as a Scout class. People will add glads to their party if they need a spot filled but I spent most of my time kinda regretting my char.

Fly and I talked about me rerolling and after much soul searching (ok it was more whiny than I let on) I thought about some games I played lately that I really liked and the last one was Twelvesky 2. The game isnt that good, but I loved the PVP arena and my glass cannon build. So I decided to roll as a Sorcerer.

Let me tell you, after beta 3 through 6 and leveling to 47, rerolling is pretty easy and fast. Sorcerers in Aion are more burst class than straight DPS with some heavy duty crowd control thrown in. Staying alive is frisky business, let me tell you. I love dancing around people who are trying to kill me and turning them into old trees (Curse of Roots skill). Also, partying is so much more of an engaging thing as a sorc. Unlike my glad that just whacked at the mob the party has targetted I am forced into a far more active roll which is so much more attention hogging.

So that is my sorceress, Nokomis. Yes, this game has beautiful graphics with some help from an image editor. (Minor help, I assure you.) Nightbloom the Gladiator has been retired to her own legion, TheEMPIRE of my early gaming days to await my future interest should I have any. Im sure I am not done with her completely. I still love the idea of the Silkroad glaiver in Aion with my spear toting Amazon warrior woman.

Like I alluded to above, I will endeavor to be more attentive to my blog. There are a lot of things to talk about in Aion and I will try to give you a few.

Gaming All Day and Night

Well no, not really but I did when Aion opened. A lot has happened in the last couple weeks. Avalon is of course the largest legion with the most Abyss points on our server. We hold a fortress which we defend nearly every evening. Aion doesn't work the same way that SRO does because it's faction vs. faction. We defend our own plus any other fortresses that are held by Elyos. That was three till last night. (I'll get into that later)

I leveled up to 38. That is not super high level but it's at the head of the curve. I am constantly distracted by the multitude of other things to do in this game. Crafting takes up my time every so often, gathering has to be maintained and Ive been kinda leveling my aether gathering up when no one is looking. I'm playing with the Broker, trying alternative ways to make kinah on other chars on my account. Ill make a post about it once I get some solid ideas.

Currently, the bane of my existence is KRALL MOLARS. Innocent little drops from Elite mobs that give blue gears. I want them all. Im leveling too fast in that area tho and I think you kinda outlevel the place around 42. Im getting closer.... Right around 35, till around 42 the game gives you grindy ways to get a full set of blue gear. While anyone can get the same gears, most throw up their hands in disgust at trying to get 100 or 150 krall molars or each piece (in a group that means you get 1 for every 6 mobs). I am determined. I have the pants cause I wanted them more than the shoes but the shoes and hands are next. The messed up part is you do it all over again in another area for blue jewelry. Right after that you do a campaign quest and get a blue helm. Viola, full blues.

So here are some screens from the last week. They start with an image from a cutscene I just thought was cute cause it showed the actual party (yeah, in order from L to R that is AkillerX, me, Spanktastik, Corrupt, KanjiX and Fly) and go through fighting in instances, fighting bosses, winning the fort, the Dredgion and some nice scenery.

Im so sorry for offending you. Im glad that whatever your mental disability is, it doesnt prevent you from reading my blog. I wont be removing Evony ads, I like that game. I also think that the female body is quite nice and makes for great advertising. Just because one is a girl, doesnt mean one has to be a militant man hating feminist. Sexism only seems to bother ugly women in my experience.

I think that we made the correct leap of faith, leaving Silkroad Online before that ship sunk completely and swimming over to the little tropical island of NCSoft's Aion. Avalon the legion is huge. We lead the Elyos in Abyss points and size and even if we weren't huge, the game would still be incredibly fun. I have leveled to 27 and been rifting, in the Abyss, done my first instance ever and been in Vent with 50 ppl.

While Silkroad Online wasnt my first MMO, it was close and it was the one I played the longest. I also experienced a lot of "firsts" in SRO. My first guild, made my first movie, made my first game site etc. The quest to recapture that first feeling is impossible. I have tried so many new games over the last 5 years, but after a week or so, the urge to play kinda dwindles and I ended back in SRO.

But Aion has been different. I havent even thought about SRO. I have made movies in Aion, written guides and read page after wiki page of information. I havent been this enthusiastic about a game since the 60 cap on silkroad Online. This game really has everything. I tried my first real instance where our group killed a raid boss and got a rare drop. I dyed my armor blood red to match my cape. I climbed mountains like we did in the old days of SRO. I PVPed for hours and hours in the enemy lands. I have made so many new firsts and the game isnt even live yet! So much of the fun of gaming had been drained out of SRO that I'd lost my grip on why we play at all. SRO was about proving a point and die trying. Aion is just pure fun.

A few former SRO people have followed me over and tried to bother me. lol I should take some screens and post them but I never remember to cause they always seem to bug me when I'm doing other things. I hope that more SRO people leave that dead end game and come to Aion. Even in SRO you cant have a guild the size of our Legion. All are hardcore PVPers from other games like WOW and Warhammer. New people are everywhere. The game is beautiful and that really helps. Come join me on AionArena and check out Aion.

Because our legion is a Ventrilo using legion and has been for many years, we get into great discussions that I wish I could record and share with the public. As anyone who knows me knows, I played Silkroad Online since it opened and recently quit because it is apparent that Joymax does not really care to solve the botting issue to anyone's satisfaction. There are now very few actual legits playing the game and I think that JM really has no reason to clean up. Their user base is nearly 100% botting and botters dont want botting to be banned. Joymax is so completely ignorant of the situation that we have incidents like this... [GM]Gargamel wears a bot company logo teeshirt at GNGWC '08

So here is a list of the reasons why Silkroad Online players specifically will love playing Aion Online and find it's style familiar.

1. Open PVP - While Aion does have an arena, it also has rifts and the Abyss. They give it a new name (PvPvE) and make it basically involuntary whether or not you want to be a target or not. You can and will be PKed by the other faction while you train. Silkroad had open PVP as well but with a penalty and using cape/jobsuits. Aion removes the conditionals and just lets you have a free for all. After level 25 you can train in the Abyss... actually both factions train in the Abyss at the same time. Think of the possibilities.... Korean gaming models own PVP.

2. Community - Because when you create a char on a server and it stays on that server for life, you always know the people you are fighting against and with. In the opposite faction, you get to know names and legions even if you cant understand what they are saying specifically. Friction is going to happen because the competition is open and encouraged. Sro also had that before the jobbing system was changed. You knew who was robbing you. In Aion, you know who is ganking you. You can see their name, look up their legion and see their stats. If you want revenge, there is another rift opening up somewhere....

3. Common Area Bosses - While there are some instanced bosses, most are just open. If you want to kill a named boss, you gotta camp him. In the Abyss, you have the aggravating factor of the opposing faction to deal with. Even in some instances, both factions can enter. In Silkroad Online competition for bosses was epic. Aion is the same way. Check out the description of "Dreadgions" here. Aion boss killing in the Dreadgion is like killing Medusa and everyone is in job suits.

4. Fortress - Aion has those. They are wild too and more than one per server. It's not just Elyos vs. Asmodians either, it's Elyos Vs. Asmodians vs. Balur. Yeah there is a third faction that is AI controlled. From what we understand, sometimes the Balur help you, sometimes they help them, sometimes they fight both. Reminds you of silkroad doesnt it? FACK MATHER! There are real bonuses for being the faction that owns a fortress too, not just sitting around collection money and fighting twice a month. You get access to a dungeon and special quests that come with it.

5. Death Penalties - Once you get high level in Silkroad dying becomes painful. You wince when you see that 5% loss because you know that it's gonna take you hours to replace it. Aion has that plus soul sickness wich means you can gain some of that lost XP back (not all) at a very stiff price. Why is this good? Because when someone does something dumb to get the party wiped, it's not just "oh well" and move on. There are real incentives to being on top of your game. You try not to die because it starts to hurt after a while. Earning money in Aion is hard!

6. Botters - Unlike SRO, there are none. That isnt familiar but it certainly is a reason Silkroad Online players will love the game. At least the old school legit ones.

7. Responsible Management - Aion has that. No absentee company that ignores you and feeds you form messages with heavy engrish overtones.

8. GMs - I have personally seen more than one of these in Aion and the game hasnt opened yet. I also have both CMs on my twitter. They actually RESPOND when you talk to them. No shit, it's true. GMs that are more than a pink message telling you that the server is going down for maintenance. O.. M.. G..

9. Queue Login - When the servers are crowded (and they will be for OB) Aion doesnt have a fake queue system that makes you wait for 5 hours or ask you to pay for a idiculously overpriced ticket to log on. They have a real queue system that counts down and gives you an ETA for login.

10. P2P - We all know that while Silkroad Online calls itself F2P it is in fact not. In order to be competitive, not have to grind for hundreds of hours at a time, pick up your drops and defend yourself in PVP you can easily spend $50 a month in silk. Aion costs $15 and that is all you have to pay. For $15 you are always on even ground with anyone else in the game. They have costumes you can buy at NPCs, res scrolls, reverse returns, etc and they are all obtainable with Abyss points or basically the more you PVP, the more speshul stuff you can buy.

In Silkroad Online legit players were choked out by the mechanics of the F2P, bot mecca atmosphere of the game. People who couldnt afford to pay real money for lots of silk were grossly overpowered next to those who could. Real players couldnt level in bot infested areas and botters didnt mind because they werent there to see it most of the time. The mass infestation of gold bots made buying gold both easy and cheap driving the market into a tailspin overpriced ridiculousness. New players cannot join the game and replace those who quit because as a legit quits playing (or playing legitly) he is instantly replaced with a botter and his or someone else's 20 goldbots.

It's been both boring and eventful lately. My cat got her first shots. She was a brave kitten and didnt bite or scratch ANYONE. I was impressed. My once Silkroad Online website is now completely devoted to Aion Online. That involved a lot of deleting (which I must say was TOTALLY difficult). I still have a lot of SRO resources that are up for grabs like a complete Wiki and all my silkroad renders and images Ive collected over the years (image kits). I'm not ever going back to SRO. I dont have it on my comp, I only saved a handful of screenshots. Its like getting a divorce. SRO and I have been together for 5 years but we've lose that lovin' feeling and it's gone... gone... gone... whoaoaoaoaoaw. (If you dont get it, watch this video)

We have organized a donation drive at Aion Arena. We used our first bunch of donations to get a Signature Generator. It's super easy to use and takes absolutely no skills at all. You can just generate text, drag and drop it where you want it on the backgrounds. There are 115 backgrounds and growing so everyone should be able to find something they like. Not everyone can make their own graphics so this is good for them.

I also made a new flash for the main page of the webiste. It has a story behind it too. I made one and didnt like it at all. It was my graphics and even I thought they were hideous but I had a creative drought. So I asked Fly about flashes or sites that he liked and after a few minutes of him sending me sites, he found some article about website trends. The number one trend is embossed lettering. So I read the whole article, noticing that big text and plain backgrounds are also a nice trend. I go online and look for a tutorial on how to make that embossed lettering. I find one, make the panels for my flash and get it up. The first thing that Cruor says, "It looks like the CS4 icons." I go and look at them and yeah, they do. MUTHAF****A! I dont care though, I like the flash and it's staying. ^^ Damn Adobe and their trend setting icons!!!

So we are all still sitting around starting at eachother, waiting for Aion to start back up again. It does so on the 6th of September. See ya on the Triniel server!

OMG Chaucer as a badass former angel kicking ass... Mean grandmas... Avenging angels... Biblical Horror... I am so watching this movie.

This film is directed by a first time director, Scott Stewart... who was a big deal with the visual effects house, The Orphanage - which did incredible work on films like SIN CITY, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, THE HOST, SUPERMAN RETURNS, the last two PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and IRON MAN. He also was the Digital Mastering Consultant on JACKASS: THE MOVIE. Odd credit, huh?

JOYMAX Co., a Seoul-based online game developer and publisher, hopes to tap markets in countries where the online game industry is underdeveloped, the CEO of the company said yesterday.

The company is best known for Silkroad Online, or MMORPG, a multiplayer online role-playing game. International game players from 180 countries spend real money to purchase items to customize game characters or accelerate the process of the game.

More than 95 percent of the company's 32.9 billion won ($26.5 million) revenue in 2008 came from overseas sales, but the CEO said he is aiming higher.

"We should go further to expand business in the global market. We will boost overseas business in the Middle East, South America and East Europe where game content is relatively less developed," CEO Jeon Chan-woong said in an interview with The Korea Herald and The Herald Business.

"In China, too many developers are jumping into MMORPGs," he said, adding that he does not want to tap the Chinese market.

Making inroads into an underdeveloped market is particularly important for online game developers because popular content can come and go in a single day in the saturated, highly competitive market, Jeon said.

The Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe lack both game content and payment systems for consumers because the regions are at an emerging stage in terms of online game industries.

"Securing those markets first would help us save marketing costs, as well as create a strong brand image relatively easily," the CEO said.

Because JOYMAX provides Silkroad Online directly from the main server in Korea for users in different countries based on the "global direct service" platform, it reaps four or five times more profits compared to other game developers, who have to pay marketing and settlement commissions to publishers, he said.

The game developer's net profit came in at 17.1 billion won on annual sales of 32.9 billion won in 2008.

Silkroad Online generated 8.2 billion won in revenue out of the total revenue of 9.2 billion won in the second quarter, which was up 31.4 percent from a year earlier, according to the company.

In July and August, JOYMAX signed contracts to export Silkroad Online to Russia and another online game, Bumpy Crash, to Thailand.

From October, the company plans to offer Silkroad Online gamers multi-language services including Spanish, Turkish, German and Arabic to help them more conveniently interact with each other in the virtual game world.

For the local market, the company will launch Bumpy Crash soon, Jeon said.

Analysts said JOYMAX's stock price has a lot of upside potential because its shares are undervalued compared to other local game developers.

"The company's net profit is expected to hit 22 billion won this year and its price-to-earnings ratio is very low, at 9.1, compared to the local online game developers' average PE of 15," said Kim Seok-min, an analyst with Dongbu Securities.

"Such factors are expected to give extra momentum to the company's stock prices," he said.

Stock price of JOYMAX rose 4.17 percent to close at 59,900 won on Tuesday.

As if anyone needed more reasons to leave SRO. JM is riding on the international market's ass, raping it over and over for massive profits and yet they still provide grossly substandard service and can't even rid their servers of a single bot for more than a few hours. I'm sure Mr. Chan-woong doesnt lose a single wink of sleep in that enormous pile of won he is sleeping in at night either.

Yeah, we are really loving this game. So far, the community has been top notch, not what we are used to in Silkroad Online. Avalon is steadily growing larger and the people we have been meeting are fantastic. Ive taken lots of screens. You can see a lot of them here: My Picasa and at WeGame also. I hope every single gamer out there has made an account at WeGame. They have added Aion to their huge list of games and are building up a real catalog of videos and screens, mine included. The quaility is also far superior to anyone else's.

I also made a quick video of us goofing around. I was testing the new computer's ability to record nicely. It does fine.

Oh also, my cat really likes Aion, she was really into it.

Do you know how hard it is to play with a cat head in the way? I should probably give you more information about game play than I have been doing. But really, Aion isnt that unique in the way of gameplay. It's like the hybrid offspring of a Korean MMO grindfest and a Western MMO Quest based model. It's attraction is it's graphics, it's PVP and it's polish. Even in the beta there arent that many bugs. I think the worst thing I can say about it is the fact that you can fly and not swim. You would think that they would be really similar tasks! I did read somewhere that they will work on swimming but dont quote me cause I dont remember where.

Livestreaming Aion All Day

So I discovered LiveStream and it was pretty fun to have my friends who didnt have the Aion beta key yet watch us all play. It sends a live feed with a 5 second delay of my game to the internet where anyone can log on and watch. When Im not live, it streams old Silkroad Online movies I made cause I didnt have anything else to put on there and its a good history of the guild Avalon anyways. I was online broadcasting for about 7 hours today and will be doing it again in the morning.

All the old Avalon gang is together also. Asyamura bought the game, Corrupt is downloading it as we speak and I heard to Khaara is supposed to join us before this beta weekend ends. So grab your popcorn and join Avalon on Aion.
