Pricey, but very cute. I would love to have one in Oliver (or Wyatt's) room, but i just can't bring myself to spend $48.00 on a nightlight, even if they are by Jonathan Adler. Yes, you don't have to re-read that last sentence, I said $48.00. for a nightlight.

Do you ever have that one website or blog that you can't get enough of? I typically become a little stalker-ish when I find a new blog or site I love and then it slowly fades away. Not so with Sunrise Hossegor. It's like your best childhood friend that you haven't talked to in a long time, but when you do you feel immediately at ease, and like no time has passed. You feel satiated and completely understood at the same time. Sound weird to describe a blog that way? If you take a look you will see what I mean. I have been coming back to this blog for years, with sometimes weeks or even months in between, and I never feel let down for lack of inspiration! If you follow me on pinterest, then you will see I went a little crazy this afternoon :)

Are you guys superstitious? Or is it a little more subtle, where maybe today you just avoid say, walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror? Either way, I hope it's a great day and nothing negative happens to you! After all, it's the weekend. And not just any weekend - but it's the Golden Globes! Next to the fashion (obv.), I am most excited to see Ricky Gervais, as I laughed pretty hard last year. I kinda feel bad for the guy, it will be hard to live up to all if the expectations and talk. In addition to those big Sunday night plans, We will be painting little Wyatt's room (grey, if you must know. I know Grey is sooo 2011, but I still like it) and hanging some art.
AS we head into the weekend, here are a few things I have gathered on my desktop:

~ I look forward to this movie, as are legions of others, I am sure. You can see about 2 seconds of any movie of his and know it's Wes Anderson, right?

~ I so agree with this mama advice, and have guilt-ily felt the same.

We made Chicken tortilla soup last night, which always triggers memories of San Diego, and probably always will. Funny enough, the first time I ever had it was not at some awesome hole-in-the-wall taco stand, but when Ollie was born! Our friends meme and barrett came over to make us dinner and this is what they made, so I always use her recipe. I was checking out her blog this morning and fell in love with this picture:

trying to get back into the swing of things

I know that so many people have resolved to update their blog more..but I really am! :)
I have a new baby, am through the holidays, and I'm on my way to setting up sort of version of a schedule!
It is a different beast with 2 little boys. But I will find my footing.

First on the list is getting reacquainted with what all of you have been up to! I need to find that inspiration again.
Also, today Wyatt is one month! I plan on starting to take a monthly picture so I can see his growth. Sadly this is something I thought about after Ollie was born. :(
I will share the pic sometime soon. I have been so exctied to see all the different ones out there! Pinterest has been great for that, as well as Making It Lovely, but then Melanie was nice enough to go and round them all up for me!!

may I introduce you to Wyatt Owen?

In case you were wondering what I have been up to...Wyatt finally graced us with his presence on 12.6.11 - his due date was Thanksgiving! Oliver has had a few bumps, but I have to say has been a champ overall.
As for me, well I am resting and recovering, thanks to my mom and Chris. One day I will share my birth story ;)
I have so missed what is going on with all of my blog peeps. I haven't watched the news and I have no idea what is going on in the world! I have been snuggled down with my early Christmas present!
Can't wait to share more as I start to feel better, and I can't wait to get caught up on all my reading with your blogs!!

I am definitely getting into the holiday spirit. I LOVE that I am hearing Christmas music playing (yes Haydee!!) and I am slowly acquiring vintage Shiny Brite ornaments and bottle brush trees. I have yet to buy baby's stocking - wasn't that # 1 on my list like forever ago?!?!? - but other than that I am loving this time of year despite the 80 degree weather we are having!

Do you have any plans for the weekend? T-Giving prep? I will be giving the house one last scrub down (ahem, nesting) in anticipation of family coming, and hopefully soon a baby!
I have been working on visualizing. No seriously. I just keep thinking about the birth and how I want the baby to come now - even Oliver has gotten in on it. He likes my shirt to be up a lot so he can see my rather large belly and he says "come now, baby!" It's pretty cute.

I have a bad habit of doing that. I think it must drive my husband crazy, and seem unorganized, but to me they are my little inspirational photos. A mood board if you must. I tell him not to forget, I used to create mood boards for a living at the Russe, so I have to still do it sometimes!!!

what I have been up to...

...is nesting, nesting and more nesting, of course.

I painted our living room, made a Greek diner I was craving, made s'mores with Oliver and my husband Chris, and made a pom pom wreath and garland. I have also begun to return phone calls to my friends, and started to clean the house since my mom will be arriving for thanksgiving and to stay and help out with the new lil one that will be here any moment.
And it's weird the little things you obsess about before a baby comes - I HAVE to get this baby a stocking, I want a pedicure, and I want the nursery in complete order - even though he will be sleeping next to our bed for awhile! Strange right?

I got the pom pom wreath idea from James over at Bleubird Vintage - I thought it was adorable. I just strung my leftovers into garland since Oliver was so into them. The tutorial that James recommends is great and easy, and the way Kristen over at domestifluff actually used her pom poms by attaching them onto sticks is what I will do with the other leftovers :)

But yes. I am suddenly obsessed with them, as anyone who looks at my pinterest will know. I love the crocheted ones, the patterned ones, any and all. Becuase, I think it is the cutest thing for winter, since well, last winter. ;)

A couple years back one of my close friends, designing at the time, traveled to Japan for inspiration and brought back the coolest pair. Navy, with a a sort of scandanavian pattern by the knee, and then - get this - poms poms - at the back of where your knee bends so you can see them above your boot! How adorable! My favorite that I am eyeing right now:

Happy Halloween everyone!

I hope you have some spooky plans. Oliver and I already carved 2 pumpkins this morning - the baby's and his. When Dad gets home we will do ours. Wielding a knife around a 2 1/2 yr old is interesting. Plus, I always feel so generic, our pumpkins are like triangle eyes, upside down triangle nose and a grin with one or two triangle teeth! I have been looking around the web and seen some masterpieces out there! sheesh!

I wanted to mention last week that I went to the Design*Sponge party and book signing. Guys, Grace Bonney is even more cute and gracious in person. It was fun to force myself to get out at this stage in my pregnancy and just walk around downtown. Then, my inlaws came to town and Oliver had fun making Halloween cookies, etc with them.

I hope the rain stays away and we get to trick or treat a little tonight! I hope everyone has a safe adn fun Halloween!!

You guys.
I am so, so pregnant. And I am not even due for another month! Plus, I was almost 2 weeks late with Oliver, so I am thinking that is how it will be this little guy too. Every day I wake up with new pressure and aches and pains. Meh.
Plus I made these. Like, what the heck? When I told my sister she said you are soooo pregnant! Now don't get me wrong, I like to bake and indulge as much as the next person. But Were these brownies really necessary? Rather, the question should be: were these brownies, cookies and ice cream all at once really necessary? ugh.

On anoher note, let's talk about makeup for a sec, shall we?
I have been on the look out for the perfect grey nail polish. I am over the sort of taupe-y grey I have been wearing that was big in years past and just want plain grey - not too light and not too dark. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of this color from Nails Inc., but am scared to order it online without seeing it in person. I find nail color to be especially hard since it varies so much with skin tone. they have it online at Sephora and it is called Porchester Square (dove grey).

I got my new In Style yesterday (don't know if I am still receiving them late because of my change of address) and my normal routine for magazines and catalogs is like this: flip through immediately and skim here and there. Then shut it, and at night start reading it front to back. I know, silly. Anyway, I immediately skipped my routine and went straight for the article on Gwen Stefani. First, she looks really good on the cover (I thought) - I liked her pink lips and softer look, it is a nice departure. And in every outfit she looked awesome. The Miu Miu dress in the first shot, the Francesco Scognamiglio dress, and the the little undies with the Armani beaded jacket were my faves. But most importantly, everything is on track for the Target line in another couple of weeks. My favorite thing about the article though, was this quote:

My hair color is L'Oreal, but I won't reveal the number. And I do my roots as often as Marilyn Monroe did hers. I'm serious, I found out

I know it is shallow, but I thought it was cute and telling. Anyone else excited about the target line, or is it just me since I will be having boy # 2 any day now???

Anthropologie does it right.
I haven't been on their site for a while so I don't know how long it has looked like this, but I love the new feel. I have to say, my favorite time at anthro was around 2007 - maybe like 2005-2008? Whoever was there at that time deserves a pat on the back. Especially in their home dept., as I feel they blended mid-century with that feminine/soft feel perfectly.
The new site is fresh, but with an edge - take a look for yourself.

I realize that this blog has been pretty baby~laden these days, and if you are in no way interested in that, I apologize. :) I just sort of write about whatever and that has definitely been on the brain lately! 34 weeks and counting....
So I have always thought of collecting shells as something that old ladies and tourists did. Not really my thing. But I have to say, I have been fortunate to have traveled to some pretty beautiful places and I always end up picking up shells at some point or another. Especially now with Oliver, we like to walk and see what we can find, but then it becomes the age old question "what the hell am I going to do with all of these???" So I end up just leaving them. Well I finally bit the bullet and bought some labels and decided to put them in some random jars from thrift stores, etc. I still don't know what I will do with them, since my home isn't necessarily decorated as a seaside retreat..but I will find a home for them eventually.

I want your opinion...did you hang a mobile above your baby's crib or changing table? I did not for Oliver, I felt it was too fussy/cutesy. But I was looking around etsy and there are some pretty darn cute mobiles out there? From felted and other handmade options, the possibilities are endless. You could go traditional or hipster or classic. So tell me, did you (the baby) use one? Did the baby seem to respond to it? Did it ever work as the distraction you needed at the time?

That is how Oliver says pumpkins. Kind of endearing if I do say so myself ;)

As promised, here are some pictures from the weekend. Oliver was really into picking out a pumpkin for the baby, so much so that he kept picking out more and more. I guess that is why we have like 10 pumpkins on our front porch right now. There were some animals and a hay ride, the usual pumpkin patch kind of thing. It was nice to take a break as a family from the the craziness that has become normal around here. It is constant little projects trying to get stuff done around the new place. I seriously cannot believe there will be another little person here soon. I don't feel ready. Part of me feels sad that our time (just Oliver and I) is over. I feel like he is my best little friend and I will be taking that from him - this is, assuming that feeling is reciprocated :) In a weird way I feel selfish? Does anyone else out there know what I am talking about?!

What is everyone's plans for the weekend? I am finally getting to picture hanging mode and will work on that and the back porch. One break will be to drive out the quaint island towns of either Wadmalaw or John's Island to pick pumpkins. Both areas are pretty rural and have farms to "pick your own ___" whatever is in season. Oliver is excited this year and can't wait to go get "pumpky's". Wadmalaw is further, but has the added the benefit of this sweet tea vodka, which I know I will want once this baby comes! ;) But John's island has Angel Oak, so we will see what time allows for and pictures to follow!
