<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>It has been a long time coming but I can finally scratch our bathroom remodel and redecorating our bedroom off our list! There were times I really thought we would wind up on <a href="http://www.hgtv.com/holmes-on-homes/show/index.html" target="_blank">Holmes on Holmes</a> during this process, but it is done besides having to deal with replacing the hardwoods downstairs (a result of the a pipe that did not get crimped correctly running from the shower) and I like the overall look. Still a few minor things to do, but I thought I would share some pictures.</p>
<p>The shower was the main reason for the remodel. Our original bathroom was not awful, but it was very standard builder for 20 years ago, very white, and the shower liner was either eroded or missing so we were having moisture issues.</p>
<p>We splurged a bit on the shower, we picked out beautiful hardware (which we used everywhere in bathroom), and got four jets installed. It is a semi-frameless shower; we would have preferred a totally frameless but the layout of our bathroom dictated this. Still a big improvement over what we had before. The paint looks different colors in these pictures but it is a soft blue with a hint of aqua.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ee14970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Shower closed" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ee14970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ee14970b-500wi" title="Shower closed" /></a></p>
<p> Here is a picture with the door open:</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ef34970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Shower" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ef34970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464ef34970b-500wi" title="Shower" /></a> </p>
<p>My favorite part of the shower: this cute niche with the mosaic glass tiles:</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f61d970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Shower niche" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784f61d970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f61d970c-500wi" title="Shower niche" /></a> </p>
<p>This is the countertop area. We had a custom dark cherry cabinet made with those great glider drawers and a granite top. The mirrors are from Pottery Barn and kind of cool because they tilt. we are going to put a little round towel holder in the center and maybe a picture.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f0d6970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="IMG_9631" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f0d6970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f0d6970b-500wi" title="IMG_9631" /></a> </p>
<p>Close-up of sink - we chose chrome for all of our hardware though the bathroom designers did tell us polished nickel is the hot thing right now. I like the shininess of chrome though so I just went with it.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f238970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Sink" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f238970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464f238970b-500wi" title="Sink" /></a> </p>
<p>I forgot to take a good picture of vanity, but I like it a lot - and loved picking out the hardware for everything.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f43b970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Cabinet hardware" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784f43b970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f43b970c-500wi" title="Cabinet hardware" /></a> </p>
<p>We kept our original tub but had them tile around it and add some of the glass mosaic too. The warm but light tiles, work well with the cooler toned paint and dark cabinets.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f52b970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Tub" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784f52b970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f52b970c-500wi" title="Tub" /></a> </p>
<p>We have a tall wall at the edge of tub (the other two walls have windows). We used a vintage mirror and little shelf we already had on it.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464fc05970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bathroom wall" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f464fc05970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f464fc05970b-500wi" title="Bathroom wall" /></a> </p>
<p>I am always picking up vintage bottles at the flea market; these colors worked well in here:</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f839970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bottles" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784f839970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f839970c-500wi" title="Bottles" /></a> </p>
<p>We have been working on our bedroom since December! We did not have a lot to spend on it since we knew we were going to have to redo the bathroom. Our biggest purchases were the bed, the tv stand and the tv. I wanted to use some blues, browns and whites to make it a nice transition to master bath. The paint is a light taupe, but my husband says a more accurate desription is the color of a chocolate milkshake! <br /><br /><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f9bd970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bedroom" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784f9bd970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784f9bd970c-500wi" title="Bedroom" /></a> </p>
<p>I debated over the bed style. I had originally wanted a sleigh bed (we had a four poster), but kind of fell in love with this one. I wasn't sure if I would still like it a few years from now, but now I LOVE it. I got the blue bedding on sale at Macy's (Martha Stewart) but brought in a brown pillow and throw (from discount stores) to keep it from looking too feminine. The mirrored tables are from Target. </p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784fd87970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bed" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784fd87970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784fd87970c-500wi" title="Bed" /></a> </p>
<p>This is our old dresser which was oak, and had a very country looking mirror attached. To give it a more modern feel, we painted it white, removed the mirror and used this one that was just taking space in out attic, and replaced the knobs. I used a bunch of my flea market finds on the dresser top along with some pictures.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650478970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Dresser" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650478970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650478970b-500wi" title="Dresser" /></a> </p>
<p>Another of the old dressers painted white with more flea market finds on top. My husband actually picked out this chandelier - it has kind of a cool look. We got it from Overstock which is my favorite place for lights. The drapes are from Bed, Bath and Beyond which is my fave because they let you use a coupon for each item you purchase!</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784ff1c970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Dresser 2" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e201348784ff1c970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e201348784ff1c970c-500wi" title="Dresser 2" /></a> </p>
<p>I felt like this wall needed art that was big and a little more contemporary than my normal style - I found this piece at HomeGoods along with the chair. The chair is great for an extra spot if the kids and dog are all in our rooom with us. I thought abut a table next to the chair, but I found I like the space a little more open.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650723970b-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="IMG_9623" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650723970b" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20133f4650723970b-500wi" title="IMG_9623" /></a> </p>
<p>This is the entry to the bathroom. The mirror was a yard sale find we had but were not using - it is perfect for seeing a full legth viw before you leave the room, and I like the casual look of it just sitting there. The vintage sconces were a flea market find.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e2013487850357970c-pi" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bathroom entrance" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e2013487850357970c" src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e2013487850357970c-500wi" title="Bathroom entrance" /></a> <br /><br />There you have it - a few pictures need to be added, but it is pretty close to done (at last). Now just to put final touches in the living room and kitchen and I will be a very happy camper.<br /><br /><br />On an unrelated but fun note, for all my scrapbook friends, we started somwthing very cool at the <a href="http://websterspages.typepad.com/" target="_self">Webster's Pages blog</a>. The co-onwer of the company is learning to scrapbook! Each week I come up with challenges for her and she posts her results and does a product giveaway. Check it out if you can! We also have some fun things coming up on our<a href="http://websterspages.ning.com/" target="_self"> Ning site </a>too.</p>
<p>Also, I am terribly excited to have been asked to do an assignment for one of my favorite scrapbook magazines. I've been fortunate to have many things published before but this was my first assignment and I was nervous and excited at the same time. I love the way my project turned out and will let you know when it hits the stores. Currently I am working on new products for winter CHA while I am very much enjoying seeing what people are doing with the summer CHA releases. I am in awe of the talent out there. If you haven't seen the new Webster's Pages products yet, you can see them <a href="http://www.websterspages.com/" target="_self">here</a>. <br /><br />Thanks for stopping by!</p></div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Well I had the best of intentions of keeping this blog up, but life once again got in the way. Thought I would do a quick update for anyone still reading this (hi MOM lol).</p>
<p>Several months ago I developed intense foot pain. I have had many twists and sprains over the years so I just figured it would go away on its own after a while. It didn't. I was diagnosed with tendonitis and plantars fasciitis, and started going to a physical therapist. My physical therapist discovered my legs are different lengths (who knew) and <span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 13px">that I am a severe overpronator which actually sounds kind of disturbing but just means I walk <span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 13px">with <span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px">my <span style="FONT-SIZE: 9px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 13px">lower legs rotating inwards. I also have some arch issues. So I got measured for custom orthotics to correct some of those problems, but when I went back to my orthopedist he referred me to a surgeon that specializes in foot and ankle issues. So I went to the new doctor, who said Good News you don't need surgery because Bad News your nerves are damaged in your lower legs and feet and there is not much surgery can do to fix it. </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 13px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 13px"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 14px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 9px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 13px">Deep sigh at this point...I am relieved I do not need surgery, using my new orthotics (goodbye all my pretty shoes - by the way my daughter who wears the same shoe size seems a little too happy about this aspect), and just trying to manage the pain. Things could always be worst - mostly I just miss taking my dog on long walks and hope to get back to that point soon.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Last week we had snow in NC. That is always a big deal here. Pat had a hard time getting his flight to China, the kids spent most of the week home due to school cancellations and lots there was a lot of sledding! Not too much snow left but it was fun while it lasted (well the first few days were fun after that we were going stir crazy!). My husband is back from China which always makes me happy and we are watching all the snow up North and feeling very sympathetic to everyone there. Pat's family is all in the Baltimore area and I have family and friends up that way too. We are thinking of all you! Here is one of my favorite pictures of Phoenix from the snow:</p>

<p>We are having a cool event at inspireME this week. Webster's Pages did a product trade with Tattered Angels and both of our design teams have been working with products from both companies. Today was my day and you can read about my experience creating the page below page <a href="http://websterspages.ning.com/forum/topics/february-11-fourteen-year-old">here</a>. We also have a giveaway combining some Webster's Pages and Tattered Angels products so make sure to enter that.</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20128778f9b63970c-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline" /><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a8bc1837970b-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline"><img alt="TerriHpubsign" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20120a8bc1837970b " src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a8bc1837970b-500wi" /></a> <br />  </p>
<p>Finally, if you are a soap fan, you might get a kick out of <a href="http://www.welovesoaps.net/">this list</a> of the 50 best soap actresses of all time. I love lists! I like Soapnet because I have insomnia and this past year I have started watching Days of Our Lives once in a while. I used to watch this in middle school! I also watch General Hospital, and go between loving it and hating it lol. </p>
<p>Okay, that is it for me. Have a great week and if you are dealing with bad weather, please stay safe!</p></div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Hi everyone! I am excited to share a sneak peek of the new Webster's Pages collection called Seaside Retreat, debuting officially at Winter CHA. This paper is called New Discoveries, and if you are playing our game today at <a href="http://websterspages.ning.com/" target="_blank">inspireME</a> this is clue 6. </p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05708970b-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline"><img alt="New Discoveries" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05708970b " src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05708970b-500wi" /></a> <br /> </p>
<p>I think this is my favorite paper in the whole collection - the yellow really makes me thing summer, and I think the "b" side is pretty cool too! I have already selected the photo I am going to scrap with it; this picture of Sarah from Aruba:</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05a69970b-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline"><img alt="Sarah canoe" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05a69970b " src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05a69970b-500wi" /></a> </p>
<p>So here it is, the entire Seaside Retreat collection, just the thing to get me out of the winter doldrums!</p>
<p><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e20120a7d05cb2970b-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline" /><a href="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e2012876d2d75c970c-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline"><img alt="Seaside_retreat yahoo" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d834553f0669e2012876d2d75c970c " src="http://girlonthewing.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834553f0669e2012876d2d75c970c-500wi" /></a> <br /> <br /> Thanks for stopping by (and look two blog posts in one week lol)! </p></div>
