While I don’t get to dress up every day, I do still need to draw inspiration, from fashion, photos, music, and other sources for my own creative purposes. When I was younger I would rip out every image in a magazine that I loved, but the piles just kept growing, and growing, and became overwhelming. Now with the luxury of the internet, and all the amazing things online, it is so easy to put together a collage of inspiration without taking up any physical space.

I am setting a personal goal for myself to start creating groupings of images and other things that I love at the moment for inspiration in the future. Sort of like a scrapbook, to capture a mood or idea I have,  through music, pictures, film, anything that catches my eye! I hope to make a few a week, but we will see as it goes along.

Where the hell did this week go?! I had so many plans and things to accomplish over Spring break, and so far I am no further ahead than I was a week ago.

I do know that I have had some fun listening and discovering new (to me) music.  Turning the music up a little too loud makes cleaning the house just a little less awful. So I have done a lot of cleaning, sorting, and donating.

I really need to buckle down and work on this painting I am doing. It is due Monday, and so far all I have painted on it this week is one measly tree.

She & Him - I Was Made for You

Well this post is getting online a bit later than expected. Ten hours to be exact. Last night I went out to see Lady Dottie and the Diamonds with my cousin and friends and stayed up a bit past my bedtime. Getting out of bed was a tad more difficult than usual this morning!

I did some work for a friend this morning, then decided to do some thrift store shopping for the remainder of the day. I went to three of my favorite stores, and really scored big time! I got two of the most incredible hats, a stack of books that will take me the rest of the year to finish, a precious lacy apron, and a gorgeous floral hankie. Tomorrow during the daylight I will snap some pictures of my finds. I am in the middle of debating which book to start first!

Yesterday marked the first day of my Spring Break, and boy am I ready. I feel so overwhelmed with school and everything else going on, it will be wonderful to finally have some time to catch up. This weekend I plan on celebrating, by having a picnic in the mountains.

I started out the day at the thrift store, where I filled my arms with all sorts of goodies, including two of my favorite books (which I can’t believe I didn’t already own!). I also got a really darling dress, which surprised me when I saw the Gap tag on the inside. I guess I should have known, as it is khaki colored. It is cute though, I swear!

After that I went to the nursery and picked out four little succulents. I just love succulents. I am not very good with plants, but I can keep these little guys alive! As you can see from the photo, I am short a pot. I may have to hit up the thrift store again tomorrow!

I bought these boots last Wednesday. I can honestly say it is one of the most exciting thrift store finds I have had in several months. I saw them from an aisle over, and made my way to them quickly. The size said an entire size small than mine, but I was determined to make them work. I tried them on in the store, and much to my surprise they were a perfect fit. Everywhere I go I get stopped and complimented on them.

This year has truly been flying by. The weeks are so much a blur to me now that I find it really hard to believe that we are only a few days away from April. It has been ages since I did a Friday Favorite, and I feel it is the appropriate time for me to start doing them again.

This weekend snuck up on me so quickly I didn’t really have time to plan anything out. My dear friend Angi is flying away to Europe soon to be married, and tomorrow there is a bridal shower in her honor. Besides that though I suppose I will just play it by ear. I really hope to get a lot of painting done on my current piece. I won’t give away the details yet, as it is in it’s early stages, but I think this piece is really helping me find who I am as an artist.

Well, here are a few of the things I am loving right now:

♥ I just came across this fantastic new online magazine, Antler.

♥ I keep meaning to buy some goat cheese at the market, because I desperately want to try this Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Cornbread.

♥ I am in love with this artist’s work. I found it through Juxtapoz, but it is so fun and playful. Queen of the May.

And probably the most exciting thing I saw this week is the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are. I have watched the clip several times already, and am more excited than ever for it!

I had a lot of fun downloading new brushes for photoshop. Hey look, I taped my photos to my blog!

This evening Russ and I are walking over to our friend Leasa’s house to celebrate the Equinox. I am so excited about Spring beginning. I have a really hard time dealing with cold and grey weather– and always have. When I was growing up in Washington (state) I used to get really severe depression whenever it would rain. I still get it from time to time, but living in San Diego it is limited to the Winter months!

This afternoon I walked over to Balboa Park from my house. I had a field trip to the museum of art with my painting class. I love going to the museum, but because of how many times I have gone, I really do not like going with a docent. Often they only hit the most obvious paintings, and tell you very little that you haven’t already heard.

After the museum one of the sweet girls in my class, Dani, offered to treat me to a drink at the Prado. Well, we ended up ordering a carafe of Sangria and talked for two hours. It was such a lovely and fun afternoon, and I am super excited to have a new friend on the horizon, since as of this month all but one of my high school friends have moved out of town.

This is the outfit I wore today. I bought this darling little pocket watch about a week ago on etsy, and I absolutely adore it. I have worn it every day since it arrived!
