Heavy Rain in Karachi

A thunder storm has occurred in Karachi. I have never seen this kind of lighting in my life! It's like Allah is saying that you had been asking for this since May, and now you get it!

Heavy Rain in Karachi

May wasn't a very pleasant one in Karachi, it was extremely hot and we all were sweating heavily. The heat was intense, and my classmates and I were praying to God to have our vacations soon. Since our classroom doesn't have much space, especially when 30 students sit there, the heat become unbearable!

First, when the rain started, we were very excited, that finally God is pouring down his blessings on earth. Or should I say Karachi. But then the weather got harsh, and the lightening started to fall on the ground. I've seen this kind of rain before in Canada, and I remember I wasn't that scared, but now, I feel A LOT scared. Rain doesn't occur usually in Karachi, but when it does, you feel like praying to god to stop it.

In the end, I'd like to say, O Allah, do not kill us out of Your anger, do not destroy us through Your torture, and protect us before anything happens.

Multiple Sclerosis - help Pakistani Patients by sending medicines

I heard from someone about a disease called MS or Multiple Sclerosis, so I decided to search about it. I looked it up on the internet, and it's a scary disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, resulting in loss of muscle control, vision, balance and you feel numbness if you touch anything, i.e., loss of sensation. This is called an autoimmune disease. The body immune system destroys the harmful bacteria, but mistakenly it attacks normal tissues or organs. MS attacks the brain and spinal cord.

This horrifying disease is common in young, according to what I have heard, in Pakistan. There are many medications of this MS, but only one medicine is available and made in Pakistan, which is hard for the poor people to afford and even if we do import it from a foreign country, people will not be able to afford the medicines, because one month's medicine will cost a fortune for them. I request to any organization, if there is any, to send Pakistan medications for this scary disease, to send it to Aga Khan University hospital so it can send the medications for MS at an affordable prize, because it is one of the best hospital in the country, and it helps poor people if they are not able to afford medications and stuff like that, for that I really appreciate. Pleased help these people and the younger generation of Pakistan.

Earthquake in Karachi!

So that was earthquake in Karachi!
My Grand mother is telling me and aunt also that everyone started reciting the first kalma and then Allah stopped the earthquake. It was very dangerous as Karachi is 7 feet beneath the sea. If the earthquake was severe, god forbid, we all would be dead! May Allah keep Karachi safe from any harm. AMEEN.

As you all may know, that an earthquake occurred in Karachi a few minutes ago on 16th april, 2013. Thank god it was not severe, or we would all be dead. the weather today was not a very pleasant one either. this is a sign that shows that an earthquake may occur. another sign is that birds start flying into their nests really quietly, and specially crows. some of the main precautions are that you should check all the gas pipe lines and you should turn off all your electrical appliances. you should not stand beside large and tall building and you should repeat some Quranic verses or that dua for when an earthquake, god forbid, occurs. schools should train students, whether if the school is big or small, if an earthquake occurs and what precautions you should take. may Allah keep Karachi and Pakistan safe from these natural disasters. AMEEN.

that's it. that's all I got now. And I'm ok too. In-fact, I'm feeling really healthy.

Humans Have A SUPER BRAIN!

Some of you think it's crazy, but actually, it isn't! It's completely true!

Our brain can store unlimited memories. So, if some event occurred in the past, it's still stored in your brain, even if it happened years ago! The only problem is that you just don't remember it! When that event occurred, a link was created in our brain that made us remember when this event occurred, that happened at that event, and where it occurred.

Whenever we try to remember it, that link made us remember that event! If you forget that event, don't worry, it's still stored in your memory! The problem is the link which made us remember that particular event, got broken. If we get a little hint of that event, for example, where it occurred, I'm sure we all slap our thigh, and say, "now I remember!"

When that hint was given, the broken link got connected again and you remember that event.

So, as you can see, god has created our brains an unlimited storage place in which we could store unlimited memories! We should thank god for all the blessings he has given us.

Malala Yousafzai – She was Promoting the Teachings of Islam

I am shocked why Malala Yousufzai was shot in her head and neck? I am confused who wanted to kill her for such a wonderful thing she was promoting? Perhaps I do not understand the issues around us – But that makes me feel uncomfortable! She is only 14, three years older than me –

Education is the right of every Child. Islam also says so, no matter if you are a girl or a boy. That is what Malala Yousufzai had been promoting. She wanted every girl to go to school, get the best education and become useful part of Pakistani society.

She was promoting the teachings of Islam. If Muslims are not educated, they cannot compete with the educated world. Their future will be bleak. My father told me that girls are about half of Pakistan’s population, if they are not educated, they cannot make their kids as effective citizens of Pakistan.

Everyone is praying for her quick recovery – Not only in Pakistan, the whole world is praying for her. She has become a role model for everyone. Madonna dedicated a song to Malala.

I think girls must get education. This is not Western culture at all. It is the duty of every Muslim to educate children. Perhaps, those opposing this are not educated themselves!

In my view Malala is the ray of light and hope for Pakistan. May Allah Save Her!

Please Take Care of Our Beach and Marine Life

I have been to the Sea View at Clifton several times. But I cannot stand the smell which makes nauseous. There is trash of all sorts that makes this smell. Lifeguards do not have enough equipment and there is no marine life!

People visiting the beach do not even care about that. I remember my last trip to Canada where I went to Lake Ontario. It was so clean, water was transparent and pollution free. Lifeguards were well trained and fully equipped.

I think God has given us sea, why don’t we take care of it?

My suggestions are:

Give lifeguards good training and also equipment.

People must not through trash, those who do it must be punished.
Trash that is there must be taken out of city limits.
Food stalls should me moved into a clean food court styled place.

We can do it, it is not the government’s fault, if we do not through trash on the beach, and it will stay clean!

It’s our beach, we all must take care of it – Clean beach is good for marine life and also for us!

Advernture of Finding two Books | Thanks to Uncle Ashraf Chaudhry

I have been reading lots of books during summer holidays. With my father we went to Liberty Book Shop at Dolmen Mall Clifton. I saw two books that I wanted to purchase these were "All American Girl" and "They Princess Dairies - Ten out of Ten" - But the salesman did not give any discount. My father told him that Liberty always give him 10% discount, but he refused.

So my father told me that he would buy these books online from Liberty to avail the discount. But when he checked online, the books went out of stock.

I really wanted these two books!

My father requested on facebook to check if these books are available in any other city of Pakistan. His friend Uncle Ashraf Chaudhry was kind enough to find these two book from Readings in Lahore. He couriered these books to my father's office.

It was a surprise for me when I woke-up, I saw these two books on my bed. I really enjoyed reading books. And with this, I would like to thank Uncle Ashraf Chaudhry for his kindness.

The Lost Girl!

This is as true story - I guess about 2 years ago I went to Park Tower Mall with my family. It is a mall in Clifton, Karachi. When we went in, my grandmother saw a girl only about 5 years old.

This girl was standing with a female guard at the main door and crying. My Grandmother stopped and asked her what had happened. Girl said that she lost her mother in the crowd. My Grandmother asked her when did she last saw her mother. She said long time ago when her mother was buying dresses at a shop in that mall. She said it is so crowded that I can not see my mother now.

My grandmother stayed with that girl until her parents met her. My grand mother asked this girl if these are her parents. She said yes!

At that point my grandmother handed her over to her parents and we went in for shopping. I feel some parents are careless!

I Want to Have The Best Summer Vacations Ever!

Me and My Laptop

So summer vacations have started. Two weeks have already gone. This time summer vacations started a month earlier and will finish a month earlier too. Some schools are following the old schedule. But my school has been closed from 1^st July.

I have lots of plans for these vacations. Purchased five books that include:

Mary-Kate and Ashley - Two of a Kind Series
Enid Blyton’s - The Magic Faraway Tree
Princess Daisy - The Tiara Club, At Silver Towers
Enid Blyton’s - The Twins at St Clare’s
Enid Blyton’s - Second Form at Malory Towers

Already finished the Twins at St Clare’s and The Tiara Club. Now reading The Magic Faraway Tree.

Tomorrow we are planning to go to our grandma for a week, not exactly a week actually 4 days.

The other plan is to write some more blogs and learn about internet. I have discovered Google Earth and learnt how to use it. Google Earth is amazing. I could locate my house in Karachi and also my uncle’s house in Toronto.

Another plan to is to learn some baking! My Aunt has been kind to agree to teach me how to bake cookies. I like home baked cookies, so after I have learnt this, I can do my own baking.

But one can only do this if she is not sleeping until late. I wake-up by 8am, so that I can do my breakfast and start reading the book. Rest of the day is also well planned.

My suggestion for kids is to plan their vacations well, so that they learn few things during summer break.

How Can we Become Responsible Citizens

This morning I was reading Dawn Young World Magazine and came across an article "Time to Grow up".

As we grow-up, we have lots of duties and responsibilities, as student, siblings and citizens. We all should fulfil our duties and responsibilities. But unfortunately, most of us do not understand what are our duties and responsibilities, and fail to fulfil those and end up being irresponsible or get scolding from our parents and teachers.

In order to fulfil our duties and responsibilities we should as a student study well and get good grades and complete our home work on time. As a citizen, we should obey the law and save the environment. As children, we should help and respect elders and as a sibling, we should take care of our family members.

We should fulfil our duties and responsibilities to become a responsible person. If this happens our world will become peaceful and also beautiful.

iCarly is a Funny Show for Kids

iCarly is my favorite TV Show. Carly, who is the main character of the show is a 13-year old girl. This character is performed by Miranda Cosgrove who has her own website show as well by the name of iCarly.com. She lives in Seattle, USA with her big brother Spenser Shay. This character is performed by Jerry Trainor. Spencer is an artist.

iCarly

Carly has two friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Nathan Kress). Sam is the co-star of the web show, while Freddie is the technical producer of iCarly.com. I a member of iCarly.com. The show is funny, I always laugh a lot while watching its episodes.

The web show is also very interesting. There are videos, one can submit a video and there are also very interesting games on this site.

I like the TV show because it is funny and the site is very interactive and interesting. I recommend kids to watch iCarly on Nickelodeon and register of iCarly.com.

Blogging Made me Famous!

When I started blogging last year, I did not know that by writing blogs, one can become famous.

Last week when my father told me that he received an email from ARY TV in which they wanted to invite me for an interview recognizing me as Pakistan's Youngest Blogger, I was really surprised. The program was sponsored by Omore. But before going in front of camera I got confused!

The host of the program Uncle Khalid Malik was so nice with me. He started talking to me which helped me a lot in gaining confidence. Soon I was okay. I learnt that one has to be relaxed in front of camera and the answers come so naturally in your mind.

In my next blog, I will write about my experience of this interview, what questions were asked and what were my responses.

One thing for sure, blogging made me famous!

Wrong Teaching Approach!

This morning I was reading my favorite magazine "YOUNG WORLD". The article struck me was about teaching methods in Pakistani schools. The article suggests that in Pakistan, most schools do not have the right teaching methods. One of the biggest reason for this is the lack of training of teachers. Particularly in the government schools, the situation is really bad. Even in private schools, only few leading schools have quality teachers.

Teachers usually try to discourage students to discuss, debate and share opinions. This is too bad! How can students develop the right thinking approach if they are discouraged at school level.

Teachers think that their job is to teach from the book and students must learn what is written in the book. I beg to disagree, they should try to open student's mind by sharing knowledge beyond the book and also encourage discussions and debates.

My father tells me that in most of third world countries have poor education system. But he said that Sri Lanka has over 90% literacy rate. People are really aware in Sri Lanka. I wish Pakistan also increases its literacy rate and children in villages get good education too!

Forgiveness is a good human quality

I have a school friend who by mistake took my computer work notebook home. When I returned from the school and could not find the note book in my bag, I got so worried. I searched everywhere, but naturally I did not have it. Next day, I had a test and without note book, it was challenging for me to score good marks.

Suddenly I remembered, that she borrowed the notebook from me and forgot to return! I told my mother who called my friend's mom and shared the story. My mother and I together with my father went to my friend's home and got the notebook.

My friend said sorry, and I forgave her, because I knew she did it by mistake. She did not steal the book and that's what I told everyone at home too.

It just happened that I got ill and hospitalized for three days. Doctor advised me two weeks leave from school. When I went back to school, my friend helped me with my homework. She lent me the copies and I was able to complete the school work that I missed during my sick leave.

I was right and forgiveness was the greatest thing that I experienced.

The Sun is Heating Fast!

I was reading an scary article in Young World Magazine about Sun and how it is heating fast. The article says that we feel that the Sun has been around forever and is not changing, but that is not true. The such is actually slowly heating up and becoming 10% more luminous every billion years. My father tells me that billion year is a very long time.

But I still think that heat from Sun might become so intense that it starts burning our skin! The article suggests that it might happen that due to heat, water which is 70% of our earth might be evaporated and there won't be any water. If there is no water, how living beings will survive?

And the cause of this is that human beings are polluting our mother earth! I request you all to stop this for the sake of our future. Thank you!

How to get Good Grades in Exams?

Every kid wants to get good grades in exams. I have seen many use wrong methods for studying. Let me give you suggestions for perfect study for exams:

1. Freshen-up your mind, take a bath and choose a comfortable place to sit.

2. Takeout your books or copies and read questions and answers loud and listen your voice carefully with attention.

3. Do not take breaks. I never take breaks. If you are stress, just say that “I am not stressed” and stress will go away. And if you have listened to your lectures properly, it will be lot easier.

4. Drink plenty of water during longer study periods.

I always use the above method and stand first in my class.

Education for Every Child!

Everyone knows that education is important, but why not all the kids go to school? My father told me that for poor, it is not possible to send kids to school. But there are government schools why they do not go to those schools? I do not understand!

I have seen many poor people sending their young daughters aged 11 or 12 to work as maids. This is wrong, but how can this be stopped, I wonder?

My mother told me that they need money to buy food, and this is the reason they need to work from young age. But what I liked was that my Aunt teaches the maid who works at our home. Once she finishes her work, my Aunt brings out books and teaches her how to read and write. At least she will be able to understand something!

But the best thing at our home is that our maid is treated well. My grandmother takes good care of her health when she is sick and also for her clothing needs. But I wish every kid is able to go to school and be happy!

Love Pakistan Its a Beautiful Country

Our country is beautiful. If we love Pakistan, no enemy can hurt our country. So if we say nice words for our country, we can make it more beautiful.

This blog is for adults and children both. I request them that from now on, let’s not say bad words for our country. Always use positive words because these words are full of love and love can change our country as a safe place to live.

If we love our country, killings will stop and every one will be happy.

Exam Fright

When exams come near, kids develop an unknown fear. Some feel sick, some have grumbling tummy. They all believe that exams will never end. Off course exams are just for few days. I enjoy exams as I know that they will end soon and after that I will have all the time in this world to play, read books or watch TV.

When kids start their exams with fear, they never improve grades. If they really want to improve their grads, they need to take exams as fun and look forward to post exams vacations.

I never had exam fright. I always study hard and during exams, I stop watching TV or readying story books. I study my course material only. That is the reason I am constantly improving my grads to A+.

Please work hard in your class; our future depends on how good we are in our studies.

Reading Books is Fun

If you wish to go to a fairyland, you can go there by reading a story book. Reading books is so much fun for me that I have developed a whole library of story books. My younger sister has also started taking interest in reading story books.

Children mostly stay glued with computer, playing video games. My question to every child is that why don’t you read books.

I think books are our best friends.

Experience of Making my First Breakfast

Few days ago my mom and dad went somewhere and came quite late in the night. My sister and I went to sleep before they arrived. I woke-up early in the morning and felt hungry. My mom and dad were still fast asleep, I decided not to wake-up my mom because she was tired and made my first ever breakfast!

I never used stove before and I did not know how to use it. So I looked at the table and there was a loaf of sliced bread, I thought “how about a cheese sandwich?” I took out a plate and a knife from the cabinet, put two pieces of bread on the plate. Opened Fridge and took out a packet of cheese. Cheese packet was unused. I saw a red opening strip, and pulled it to open the packet. Took a small piece of cheese, spread it over bread and my cheese sandwich was ready. I ate that tasty sandwich and washed the plate and knife.

I was so happy to make my first breakfast and my mom and dad were happy too!

My Father

I love my father very much! He works for us day and night to earn money. He travels a lot for his work, most all over the world. When he is out of Karachi, I really miss him. He was recently away for two weeks in US and UK, and brought some nice gifts.

My father helped me develop confidence and I started blogging only because of him. Kids usually talk a lot about their mothers, but only few talk about their fathers.

I like to talk about both because they both love me and care about me. I know that my father would do anything for me.

Summer Holidays

Our summer vacations started from 1^st June. During the last week of May, we started planning for our holidays. My schedule is full of fun. Plan is to wake-up around 9am, brush my teeth and take breakfast, do school home work and spend about 2 hours on computer.

Lunch around 1pm and read books that my parents have bought for me. Take a nap around 3pm and watch TV from 4pm-6pm.

During school days, we get-up at 6am like soldiers and get ready for school quickly. Now for the next two months, I will be relaxed.

I will also be reciting Quran during my summer break. I am sure summer vacations will be full of fun.

Stop Polluting Please!

I had my Social Sciences class today. My teacher explained the effects of pollution and how it is spread and what can we do to reduce pollution.

I have noticed a lot of pollution in Pakistan. There are large rubbish heaps and these are burnt which causes air pollution. Rubbish is also cause of water pollution. I learnt that we have rules in Pakistan but no one follow these rules and keep throwing litter on the roads and in open spaces.

I think children and adults both must understand that we must stop polluting our environment, improve it by growing trees, recycle waste materials and dispose rubbish properly.

This will make our country a clean and green Pakistan.

Eating Healthy

Food is essential for us; we eat food to stay alive. It helps us grow. Our teachers tell us not to eat junk food because it is harmful to our health. We all know what is junk food and the affect of eating healthy or junk. But when children go out with their parents, they usually like to eat burgers or French fries. And parents forget to follow what they teach us at home.

I do not like eating junk food at all. You will be surprised to know that I have never tried any cola or other soft drink in my life. When I go out with my parents, I like to eat properly cooked chicken and drink fruit juice. If I want to eat a burger, it is always homemade, because I know that home cooked food is the safest.

If kids want to stay safe from diseases, they must stop eating junk food.
