Initially, it scans the results and present the results according to the priority. The domains with highest number of visitorship, excellent content and comments, makes it apex web page in terms of results. If two content are similar, then most likely Google will notify the one with better elements. This might be one of the reasons why always scraped data do not win on the Search Engines.

Unfortunately, this could be the most valid reason that why Google reveal the results with some misconceptions. There are some sites that steal the content from the original ones and Google starts giving the wrong results because it works on the concept of optimization. Consequently, It perceives the entire matter as authentic and wrongly, emphasize on the fake web domains. The user who is quite innocent doesn’t understand the major complexities of fake web domains and he blindfoldidly, starts visiting these websites.

However, the scraping has fight for its survival because Google may come to know about these fringe activities from other sites and can take strict action against these websites who are involved in breaking the ethics of cyber world.

So, if you want to implant your website on top pages then you must consider the importance of pouring fresh content in it. This will make your web dome special and most transparent of all. Your website will always be accredited genuine by the users.

Simultaneously, this is the complete process by which Google scan its results:-

- From

pings.

repeated crawling.

sitemaps.

other links pointing to the site.

This will force user to go through your website and it is assured that these pages will be approached daily. Google will always choose the web domain as the rarest of all because transparency holds certain value in the web world.

And it has always been said that adding dates to the URL is not necessarily telling Google that the content is fresh. And we webmasters don’t really need to do it, rather focus on the content upgradation, although adding dates on the webpage/URL is a nice usability tip !
Technorati Links

This is infact going to be an increasing phenonmena in 2009 because if you go by statistics, the shipments for smart phones are set to grow by 29% around the globe, not to forget that there had been a sharp downfall of 9.1% in mobile handset market. And if you think it happens in developed nations only, then you may be perhaps taken by surprise to know that a web-enabled mobile phone is more saleable in the so-called developing nations thus making it attractive market for companies. And in such scenario, the experience of mobile web users should also be given attention and importance as it would affect the busines directly. Moreover, now a user will share his/her experience in real n virtual world as well.

Like if a teenager finds a certain website not so appealing and friendly on her phone, a client is lost for the site and she would share her frustation with her pals straight away online. Guess even worse, she can express her irritation by showing that site to her friends on her iPhone also. Hence the credibility for brand increases( or decreases) as per functioning of your websites.

And with that some points comes to mind, like:

• What is the impact of mobile users on your business?
• Who are the users of mobile web ?
• How can you bring out a mobile-specific website that works wonder?

If you do not have a technical bent then you can look for the ways you can develop a mobile strategy and if you are technical expert then you find these solutions as a solid base for moblie development.

Browsing a website on a mobile device generally reduces the conversion rate, mainly because of usability issues:

• In a mobile device, navigating the web pages is quite tedious as the users are confronted with a small screen and some touch screen controls.
• Web pages designed for traditional desk-bound users are often too bloated for our limited cellular network, resulting in laborious / terminally long page load times.

A user may not wish to buy something online while browsing your site on his mobile phone though there are chances that he may come back with desktop/laptop browser to complete his transaction if he find initial information interesting and captivating.
For instance, Paul may visit your website over his airtel to check out the price of a sweat shirt, because he is looking forward to get a fair deal, though he may be standing near a sports apparel store. In such scenario if the desired webpage takes too much time in downloading then you have a potential buyer as well as his future visits will also become doubtful.

Top Design Tips for Mobile Sites

Users want a familiar experience, so take your design cues from the navigation styles on mobile handsets and not from the conventional web experience. On a mobile device, users feel more familiar with drilling down through menus to access the content, rather than just having navigation and content on the same page, which will definitely make it crowded and messy. This way a more attractive and user-friendly mobile website can be made.

We find a good range of mobile phones screen resolutions - maintaining design as minimal and linear as far as possible to optimise the experience for all, whilst maintaining page load times really low. Keep in mind that users don’t have to jump around the page. Many devices still only have up or down functionality and non-linear design will make the user experience a nightmare, resulting in low conversion rates and poor ROI.

Make the most of your real estate by avoiding large pictures or logos. Page real estate is so valuable on a mobile site due to constraints in screen resolution and the need for large, clear buttons and boxes: images will add little value to most pages.

Always warn the user before you transfer them from mobile to traditional website. Don’t link to the full site from your mobile homepage: all content important enough to be linked to from here deserves to be redesigned for mobile.

Conclusions

Understand your mobile users even though you cannot visualise a mobile-specific web presence for your brand as for now. Because the world of mobile web users is going to grow fast.

There should be difference in the traditional website and the mobile site of your company, keeping in mind the core users of both. Mobile users will judge your site by the way of their simple and immediate goals and how rapidly they are met, and they will judge your site in the mean course. Also if you fail to live upto the users' expectation, there is much possibility of brand failure and that too publicised in the world of web.

Right now, only a few mobile websites are offering flawless services. Thus, having a good knowledge of users and their goals will not only give the edge over others, but will also ensure a strong customer base.
Technorati Links

Nearly 80% of traffic to the average site comes from search engines. About 30 million visitors enter queries in Google.com per day. Anyone arriving at your site through a search engine is looks for a particular product or service and thus is a potential client. There are three major players in the search engine market: Google, Yahoo and Microsoft Live. with unique site positioning algorithm that analyzes and sorts the results by specific order.

If someone types a specific query in the search engine and your site appears in the results for that query, there is much greater probability that he will click on your site. Most searchers don’t browse after the third page. Recent research has shown that most of users, if they click, will click on one of the first seven listings in a search engine.

For instance, if someone searching for "Fiat Grande Punto" car details and you find your auto portal on top listings in search engine, there is greater probability that your site will get good click giving good traffic to your website.

As a site owner, your target is to get into the top 30 results for specific queries. The higher is the position in the search engine result pages, higher is the traffic. You may have invested in professional and beautifully designed site, but if it is not ranked high on search engines, potential clients are lost to competitors having a higher ranking.
Technorati Links

Upon integrating with another addition known as “Firebug”, it helps web developers make their page faster. As per Google "Page Speed is a tool we’ve been using internally to improve the performance of our web pages,”

Page Speed is a combination of Firefox Add-on integrated with Firebug which we’ve been using internally to improve the performance of our web pages. When Page Speed is run , one gets immediate suggestions on how one can change web pages to improve their speed. For instance, Page Speed automatically optimizes images for you, giving a compressed image that you can use immediately on the web site. It also deals with issues such as JavaScript and CSS loaded by your page that wasn’t actually used to display the page, which reduces time the users spend waiting for the page to download and display.

In order to make use of it, after installing Page speed and restarted Firefox, expand Firebug and switch to the Page Speed tool tab. Move to your page, then click the “Analyze Performance” button. Soon you will get a handy list of things you did right, and things Google thinks you did wrong.

The latter can be expanded so you can read up on the help provided in regards to issues like “Leverage browser caching”, “Remove unused CSS”, “Combine external JavaScript” and so on also, you can click on the entry to be taken to a longer explanation.

Several tests are performed by Page speed on a site's web server configuration and front-end code. These tests are primarily based on a set of best practices known to foster the web page performance.

Helpful suggestions on how to improve performance and set of scores for each page, are the information webmasters get, when they run Page speed.

Advantages of using Page Speed :

* It makes your site load faster.
* It keeps Internet users engaged with your site.
* It reduces your bandwidth and hosting costs.
* It improves the web! "

Alternative to Yahoo's YSlow, but there are some differences beyond the fact that it is Open Source which will hopefully allow a community to grow :). Infact, Steve Souders, one who developed the first version of YSlow at Yahoo is now working with Google. Don’t know if he is been involved in this project but he has got a wealth of experience in website speed optimization, so hopefully they picked his brain a bit when designing Google Page Speed.

Find more on How to use Google Page Speed and Download Page Speed.
Technorati Links

The real power of Twitter is the data in the aggregated form. Whether it is Google or any other company they all are interested in Twitter. Why? Not because they are the flavor of the month but because belief, fidelity which companies possess for Twitter. So, Twitter is paralleled to data, everything depends on data.

The most interesting is the beginning of Twitter Search in linking where people may tweet and index. Like if we want to get index Maruti Ritz on Twitter, all we need to tweet it. this step would update twitter search. It states that the twitter page would no longer be only textual tweets but millions of web pages be embedded into it. There would be spam, may be more as in comparison, but the curiosity of the user would nurture it.

Similarly the Twitter search will be indexing the contents of the web pages. This is what Google is doing. Well, Twitter search will not be indexing as many pages as Google does. But the point is that Twitter Search is a different engine in its own way and is not been launched to replace Google. Twitter Search is comparatively a small, potentially curated and real time engine.

The biggest plus point of Twitter Search is the time. It is faster than Google as tweets can be send faster in comparison to the web page which are slow to be build. Well it is not clear that how twitter is going to use web page data in search results.

But the thing which is clear is that Twitter is looking better options to tailor search results. twitter launch would be real interesting in the coming months until and unless Twitter is single and stands still and not Google buys it first.
Technorati Links

Evaluate your goals and priorities. Determine your plan of attack. After you implement a solution do not expect immediate results. Don't be tempted to go straight for a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign such as Google AdWords to promote your site. As I pointed in the Introduction section, what determines your site's placement involves more than one factor.

"SEO Implementation Lifecycle"

Why links matter

PageRank is a value that Google gives to a page based on the number of links pointing to your site. So how do you get other sites to link (or backlink) to your site? You can try the following methods:

Register with major search engines (Yahoo, OpenDirectory, MSN).

Send press releases about your product or idea that generates free links.

Hire an expert to write something positive about your product and publish in an industry newsletter, magazine or a local newspaper.

Ask to be a featured or sponsored client in a major portal site.

Ask employees to mention you and your products

Make reciprocal link requests
Mention your site in major Blogging sites, Yahoo Answers and Google Groups
Respond to blogs or queries in Yahoo Answers (just don't over-do it)
Syndicate your content through external RSS feeds to different sites
Consider ad campaigns through Google AdWords

Re-engineer your site content

Here are a few basic things you can do to clean up your site and make it Search Engine friendly.

1. Site Hierarchy and text links

Most sites employ DHTML, Flash, Frames and other fancy objects to enhance the end user's experience. While these objects are great to captivate the users attention, Google and other search engines can't understand them and will have trouble interpreting them while crawling your sites. Google introduced the concept of Sitemap that enables Google to discover your site, structure and diagnose any potential problems. Sitemap is especially important if your site has a lot of dynamic content, is brand new, has a lot of archived pages that are not linked well.

Once you created your sitemap, you upload it to your web server's root directory. Use Google's WebMaster tool (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/) to add your new sitemap. Next time when Google spiders your site, it will index all the URL's it finds in the Sitemap.

To see the specific URLs included in the Google index, do a Google search for site:[yourdomain.com]

2. Use Targeted Keywords

Create a narrow targeted keywords list that you think identifies your site properly.
For example, one would taget new cars in india for a cars website, and tata nano price for a Tata Nano page on the website.
Now Once you identify the keywords, what do you do with them? One obvious thing to do is to add them inside the Meta Keywords tag. In addition, use the keywords generously throughout your page content. Search Engines love a site with fresh descriptive content filled with keywords. This means constantly updating your site with new, fresh content is vital to your overall SEO strategy.

How do you measure SEO?

Measuring your returns on SEO investments is crucial. But once you made the enhancements to your site, do not expect to see immediate results. It could take anywhere from a month to 3 months to see any significant impact on your traffic numbers (assuming you implemented the right SEO steps).

Use a Business Optimization tool like Google Analytics or Omniture to analyze visitors and traffic source data. On Google Analytics, you find a section on Traffic Sources. It provides insight into how visitors find your site, whether through
a) keyword search,
b) or backlinks or
c) people directly typing the site url.

Google Analytics also allows you to see other traffic variables such as
a) Absolute Unique Visitors
b) Page Views
c) Bounce Rates
d) Average Time Spent
In addition you can also set conversion goals to determine how many of those leads converted to an effective sale, which is a key way to measure ROI.Tracking in helps you evaluate the efforts of your marketing strategy whether it is a PPC campaign, banner ads or natural SEO. Tracking also allows you to gain visibility into your end user's behavior and time spent on each page, which allows you to make a decision on where to place ads.

Where to go from here?

After you implement the SEO techniques and realized the improvement in your site ranking, you can't expect to sit back and relax. You need to constantly monitor your ranking and your competitor's ranking and take appropriate steps to stay on top of the list. A continuous enhancement to optimization techniques, keywords tuning, site content, blog entries is necessary to keep your site rank higher in the search results. To outdo your competition, you have to keep your content fresh. This will not only bring new visitors to your site, but also keep the visitors returning to your site.

Some Useful links

Google WebMaster Tools - http://www.google.com/webmasters
Google Analytics - http://www.google.com/analytics
Google AdWords - http://adwords.google.com
Yahoo Answers - http://answers.yahoo.com

Technorati Links

Some points are covered here to know how well your landing page engage dropping visitors.

1. Does the headline on the page follow the same theme as the keyword phrase and ad creative?

Continuity::Maintaining continuity through the entire search life cycle will increase conversion.
Try to have separate ad creative and landing pages that match each of your major keyword phrases.

2. Does the headline sell a benefit and make the reader want to continue reading the copy?

Engaging Headline::The primary purpose of the headline is to attract attention and persuade the visitor to read the copy, and ultimately convert.

3. If you have a form, is it requiring only the absolute minimum amount of information?

Minimize Form Fields::The more fields the visitor has to fill out, the lower conversion rate you'll likely experience.
If there's optional data you'd like to have, try asking for it on the "Thank you" page after the visitor has already given you the must-have information.
Also, make it easy for your prospect to fill in their information by automatically moving the cursor to the next field in fixed format fields, and test populating the city and state fields based on the zip code entered.

4. If you have optional fields, have you clearly identified required versus optional data entry fields on all forms?

Identify Required Fields::Since you'll want to limit the amount of data input required on your forms, if you have fields that are not required, be sure that your visitor clearly sees these are optional fields by using either the customary asterisk or bolding on your required fields.

5. Are all data entry fields clearly labeled with examples if necessary (555-123-4567) and contain format validation with appropriate feedback?

Field Labels::Some studies have shown that placing the field label above the field allowed users to "capture" both the label and the input more easily, resulting in faster completion times.
The drawback to this presentation, though, is the need for more vertical space.
Try to keep your formatting as accommodating as possible.
If you do require a specific format, such as a phone number, specify clearly the required format on both the form and the error message that pops up if the field is completed incorrectly.

6. Does it take 2 or fewer clicks to complete the desired action?

Minimize Clicks to Action::Don't force your visitor to do anymore than the absolute minimum required work.
Every additional click may decrease conversion.

7. Are all images optimally compressed and does the page load quickly?

Page Loading Time::There are more factors besides image size that impact the load time of your page including total page size, number of externally linked CSS files, number of external scripts, hosting company and more.

8. Have you limited navigation away from this page other than a privacy link and a link to your home page on your logo?

Limiting Navigation::In most cases, removing navigation improves conversion.
By giving your visitor navigation options, you give them an easy way to jump away from your offer and result in possibly reducing conversion.

9. Are credibility/trust indicators apparent above the fold or near the submit button?

Building Credibility::Affiliation with industry associations and organizations that advance marketplace trust such as the Better Business Bureau, increase the comfort and confidence level your visitor has in doing business with you.
Prominently display these insignias/logos close to your form.

10. Does your action button convey the benefit, e.g., Download Whitepaper, or Get Quote Now, instead of Submit?

Descriptive Action Button::The action button is the last chance for your interested prospect to change their mind.
Reinforce the deliverable or, even better, the benefit in the text of the button.
Also, including other buttons such as a "Reset" button may hurt conversion.
When you've successfully gotten your prospect to complete the form, make it absolutely clear what to do next.
For e.g. Check out the Get Discount button on Mahindra Xylo webpage to convey visitor to get discount.

11. Does the action button stand out and call attention to itself?

Prominent Action Button::The action button should be quite a bit larger than the surrounding text and stand out on the page.
There is no definitive color that converts the best across all applications; however, you'll want to at a minimum test a green, red and plain grey button.
In some circumstances, such as an offer for a higher end service or a B2B whitepaper, a non-promotional looking plain grey button might perform the best.

12. Do you have a short compelling message immediately above your call-to-action?

Tell Them What To Do::Conversion rates tend to increase when you place an action statement at the top of your form, for instance, "Start here to receive your free 10 minute online consultation".

Related Reads on Landing Page Analysis:
- 10 Tips Marketing Effectiveness
- Offer Clarity
- Readability of copy
Technorati Links

Here are some points to be considered for Readability of copy for a landing page :

1. Is the information displayed in a summary format using short paragraphs or bulleted text for quick absorption?

Information Display :: By summarizing your key selling points, you give the visitor a quick and easy way to understand your unique selling proposition.
Remember that most visitors are expecting to find a solution on your page within a couple seconds.
Forcing them to read lengthy copy may suppress your conversion rate.
Generally, try not to exceed 4 to 5 lines of copy in each paragraph.

2. Does the prospect have the ability to easily drill down to gather more detailed information without leaving the page?

Providing Detail Information :: Visitors are looking for information provided in a summary format with the ability to easily drill down for more details.
Using AJAX scripts, you can allow the visitor to pull up the detailed information without leaving the landing page.
A Beautiful example depicting detailed information at drill down can be viewed for Read Review on Maruti A-Star.

3. Is there a moderate use of white space to aid in the readability of the page?

White Space :: White space makes it much easier for eyes to read the content and helps group your content into meaningful chunks.
Be cautious though of any white space at the bottom of the fold, which might erroneously imply to the reader that they are at the end of the page.

4. Are the lengths of your lines of copy narrow to promote easier reading?

Line Lengths :: Your lines should not exceed approximately 60 characters wide.

5. Are you using black text on plain white or high contrast backgrounds and easy-to-read web fonts in your copy?

Choice of Font Colors :: Indisputably, every study has shown best readability with dark text on light backgrounds.
White text on black may look cool and high-tech, but it may reduce your conversion rate.
The three most popular and easy to read fonts are Verdana, Arial, and Trebuchet.
Font sizes for your copy should be between 10 and 12 point face.

6. Are you using bold text, exclamation points & colors sparingly, for emphasis only?

Attracting the Reader :: Carefully select what headlines or page elements you want your visitor to see first and test the use of different colors and fonts sizes.
Remember to use this discriminatively, though.
If too many elements are vying for attention, they lose the power of attracting the reader.

7. Are you using underlined text for links only?

Underlining Your Text :: Underlined text looks like a link and will confuse the reader if you're using the underline to highlight the copy.

8. Are you using no more than 3 columns on the page?

Limiting number of Columns :: Generally, the fewer the columns used, the higher the conversion rate.

9. Is your copy left justified?

Copy Justification :: People are most used to reading left justified text.
Headings can be center justified.

Related Reads on Landing Page Analysis:
- 10 Tips Marketing Effectiveness
- Offer Clarity
- Engagement with Visitor
Technorati Links

Some points are covered out here to ensure your webpage Offer Clarity as :

1. Is there a strong, compelling incentive for the prospect to take action?

Provide a Compelling Incentive::The offer should have a specific incentive to motivate the prospect, such as a free premium or service or other valuable consideration that might otherwise not be available free of charge or during another time period.

2. Is the offer clearly explained?

Explain Your Offer Clearly::Be sure to articulate the details of the offer including answers to when, how and what the prospect is entitled to in a clear manner.

3. Is the main call-to-action above the fold?

Cal-To-Action Placement::Studies have shown that when the prospect must scroll down to reach the main call-to-action, conversion drops.

4. If there is copy below the fold, do you repeat the call-to-action in a prominent place below the fold?

Repeating Your Call-To-Action::If your call-to-action is above the fold, yet your copy continues on below the fold, you'll want to repeat the call-to-action also below the fold so your prospect remembers the objective of their visit.
Don't necessarily rely on them to scroll back to the top of your page.

5. Is there a sense of urgency in the offer compelling the prospect to act now?

Sense of Urgency::To increase the likelihood of conversion, you should stress the prospect needs to act now.
This can be accomplished by simply adding the word "now" or "today" to your call-to-action.
Check out how the offer on Get Discount on Tata Nano stress the prospect needs to act now.

6. Is there only one product or service featured on the page?

Limiting Offers::Too many promotional offers on the page may dilute the primary purpose of the page and may make the prospect have to work too hard on a decision.
Most prospects are looking for your guidance and a quick easy solution.
Highest conversion rates typically result from individually targeted pages featuring 1 product tied to the keyword phrase.
If the keyword phrase is not specific, try to arrange the most relevant products in order of either relevancy or popularity.

Related Reads on Landing Page Analysis:
- 10 Tips Marketing Effectiveness
- Readability of Copy
- Engagement with Visitor
Technorati Links

Have you prominently displayed all available ways the visitor can contact you?

Contact Options :: Make it easy for prospects to contact you via phone, email and chat with any questions or concerns they may have.
Also, some visitors may have a mistrust of forms and feel more comfortable providing information in a phone call.

2. Is the company's unique selling proposition (USP) clearly communicated?

Unique Selling Proposition:: You need to articulate 3 things:
First, you must clearly state the benefits the prospect receives from doing business with you.
Second, the benefit needs to be unique from your competition.
Finally, the proposition needs to be strong enough to motivate the visitor.

3. Does the copy focus more on selling the benefits versus the features of the product or service?

Benefit Driven Copy :: Benefits are more usually tied to emotions rather than facts.
Focus more on how the prospect will feel after buying your product or service and somewhat less on what and how your product or service works.

4. Does the copy focus on the visitor ("you"), and not company ("we")?

What's In It For Me? ::Your copy should be singularly focused on the visitor and the benefits they'll receive from your product or service.
Refrain from proclaiming your company as being the best in the industry or being committed to customer service.
These are meaningless statements that will destroy credibility.

5. Are you comfortable that your usage of any attention-attracting features such as animations, video and audio do not distract the visitor from your main selling points?

Minimize Distractions :: All video and audio should only play upon user action.
Conversion will tend to decrease by automatically playing these types of rich media upon page loading.

6. Do you have an image that either shows your product/service in use, or depicts what the visitor will receive or how they'll feel?

Primary Image :: An image creates an anchor point for your visitor's eyes and usually will grab their attention before your copy.
Captions underneath images are also very powerful and should help sell the benefits of your offer.

7. Does the image help draw the visitor's eyes onto the key selling part of the page?

Image Direction ::People's eyes tend to follow a path similar to the main direction of your subject in your image.
Have the images focus their attention toward the inside of your page.

8. Is the page focused around one clear objective?

Focus on One Objective::Maybe you may want the visitor to purchase a product from you and sign up for your newsletter.
Focus your message on the objective of primary importance and save the promotion of the other objective for the thank-you page.
Promoting both objectives on one page may dilute your efforts.

9. Are guarantee, privacy policy, and/or return policy prominently displayed?

Privacy Policy::Many times including a statement such as, "We value your privacy and will not sell your information to a 3rd party" is just as powerful, if not more so, than including a link to your privacy policy.
Usually, prospects aren't interested in reading your privacy policy; they're just looking for reassurance that you'll use their information responsibly.

10. Is the company's logo placed in the upper left hand corner of the page and not overbearing?

Logo Placement::Upper left hand logo placement is the standard.
Any other placement may be just enough to throw your visitor off-track and decrease conversion.

For e.g. - You can visit cars in india and find all applicable points are covered with the webpage design.

Upcoming Related Reads on Landing Page Analysis:
- Offer Clarity
- Readability of Copy
- Engagement with Visitor
Technorati Links

They declare, in all the good details on their blog, but in brief, if you have multiple versions of a page can use this tag to say that all these urls should now be the only one with the canon of SEOness and PageRank to that one URL.

Let's take an example of a site cars in india. Imagine that your preferred version of the URL looks like this:

http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata_Nano

However, users can access previously created Tata Nano page through other URLs also like :
http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata-Nano

<a href="http://www.site.com/page.html">

Now, you can simply add this <link> tag to specify your preferred version:

<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata_Nano"/>

inside the <head> section of the duplicate content URLs:
http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata-Nano

And Google will understand that the duplicates all refer to the canonical URL:
http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata_Nano.
Additional URL properties, like PageRank and related signals, are transferred as well.
Technorati Links

We will get to some of the unique properties of PageRank and how certain changes to your site, the PageRank distribution.

ADD LINKS TO IMPORTANT PAGES :
Many SEOs and developers focus too heavily on incoming links from external sites, and we neglect the links that we have complete control over - our internal links! It is no coincidence that a website on the homepage of the rule the highest PageRank value. The high level of PR is not only incoming connections from the outside. It is also because any page on a Web site usually links to the homepage. Most sites have a number of important sites, earning high rankings for relevant terms - not just the home page.
Thus emphasize the important page by increasing the number of pages that link to it. The increase in pagerank to the important page is accompanied by a decrease in pagerank to the other pages.

SUBTRACT LINK FROM UNIMPORTANT PAGES :
If you own a website to show the unimportant pages on its Web site, they will probably try to tell you that all your pages are important. Of course, they are provided with a definition of "significance", which offers its on-site users, but probably not to the people who start at search engines. For the purposes of PageRank sculpting, we need a definition of utility, revolves around a search engine, especially Google. Google wants to rank pages, regardless valuable to Google users. In other words, if a user in a query, they are looking for something specific, and Google wants the user to perform a click.
For example, if a user searches for Mahindra Xylo, Google wants to deliver Mahindra's page about Mahindra Xylo--not the car prices in india home page or their sitemap or any other page that would require the user to click unnecessarily.

So our definition of "an important page is one that's unique content, is the most likely to be one of our keywords. For our purposes here unimportant pages are those that have little benefit for the search-engine users, such as contact pages, About us pages, etc.
Thus emphasize the important page by decreasing the number of links between unimportant pages. The important page is now receiving 1/2 the PageRank the unimportant pages are distributing.

ADD CONTENT :
SEOs often say: "Content is king", but what exactly qualifies as "content"? With regard to the PageRank sculpting, content refers to the pages. The more pages you have on your website, the higher is the maximum total PageRank.
Remember that the creation of new pages creates new PageRank, and if your site is well connected, then each new page offers a PageRank value of 1 in total on the website. (As a side note, do not forget that Google PageRank only on pages that they know, and that meets certain criteria of quality. In other words, the one million blank pages is not to increase your site total PageRank because Google is not to index one million blank pages. When we talk about "a page," it is assumed that the new page will be valuable and indexable, according to Google.)

SUBTRACT CONTENT :
Deduction is by far the most difficult PageRank sculpting concept to understand. Once you know that Google ranks pages - not websites - you can understand why we would be willing to sacrifice some level PageRank site for the sake of raising one side of the PageRank. If we remove a page from a system, as long as the system remains well-connected, then the whole system PageRank only decrease by 1. This is the same amount of PageRank, which added to a system if we are to add a new page.
In some cases, remove the page we have a PageRank value, which is higher than 1, but it makes no difference: The rest of the PageRank is redistribution to the remaining pages. As long as there is an increase in PageRank of other sites important to the entire system decline is warranted.

Thus the PageRank distribution and the choice of categorization are both aligned with the search activity of users.
Technorati Links

You can find out about your rank using ranks checker.
This blog stays put at PR 3, Our site for cars in india saw a fall from 4 to 3. I am figuring out why the penalty as we have not used any black hat seo techniques. I will post an update why. Sometimes you may blame it for the web crawling or something very related to that. One way you know it well and good that you own a very capable website but it is not coming in some of those front search pages where most of the searchers look after, then make sure that there is no use of making a front lead with the concept, since no searcher would be able to find the site and even its contents. When the competitors hold a higher position on search pages then there is no use of making a link to compete with them. Evenly there are some conceptions also regarding the Search engines.

It is to be noted that the search engines are not always operated by people working in the offices. In order to handle the various search information available all across the world, search engine companies have created some automatic programs which work for the various searchers working through-out the world. All it reveals that the individual holding the website need to look the web net according the view of the search engines. Then only the best positive out-come will be obtained.

Here are some ways given, moving according to them would never let you confront any problem related to search engine results pages. It is to be noted that all search engines work on following four referral tasks :

1) Web Crawling : Automated programs sent out by search engines are often called "bots" or even "spiders". These automatic pro-grammes work on "crawling" technique of hyper link structure of website. According to the beliefs of some of the experts search engines probably work best on the "spiders" program for the crawling of the pages of the site and to know how many pages indexed for the website, you need to give in search query as "site:websitename.com".
For example, when finding for cars in india as "site:cardekho.com", i found 5680 pages indexed by google so far.

2) Document Indexing : After the automated programs crawl the relevant page, it becomes important to put the necessary content in format so that it becomes cool for the reader to have a look to the contents. These data's of the different pages are stored in giant, databases all through which is made the search engine index. These search engine indexes hundred and millions of documents, all which are delivered to the readers from through-out the world within a moment they are searched.

3) Query Processing : Search engines examines the indexes each time a query is made to search or for all the day the different queries are made from all through-out the world and ultimately tries to find out all the relevant pages or documents. Sometimes it might be confusing
when the same looking queries come out to be different from their contents. Taking example for the search engine phrase, when we search for the "silver jewelry" or "Tata Nano, without the quotes one time and with quotes the other time we obtain some different result each time. At one time we obtain a number of search results and the other time we obtain some very less results from the previous one. This is one way the site search can be modified to give a different database, which can surely prove to be a better idea for the very same relevant page search.

4) Ranking Results : It is another point to be noted that the Google do not always shows all the pages on the same page. Even if tries to do so it then becomes important for Google to look that which page is to be posted on the first and which later on. To solve this riddle search engine run a algorithm to find out that which website content is most relevant and most important than the others. After the search overs for the most relevant page, they are shown accordingly to their refrain.
Technorati Links

These long tail keywords are much more targeted than the general or main keyword topic and they literally embody a visitor’s need for specific information.

Here is an example. ‘Cars‘ is the general keyword topic and long tail keywords within this niche includes terms such as the following:

* cars in india
* new cars in india
* used cars in india
* upcoming cars in india
* car dealers in india

These Long Tail Keywords are what people exactly search for, therefore optimizing your site and creating content to match these search queries will allow you to attract visitors who search for information via these and similar search terms.

Benefits of Long Tail keywords

1) Higher Conversions : Visitors reaching via these search phrases might be more likely to be converted. By targeting these long tail keywords, you are effectively targeting a market of potential buyers.

2) Easier to rank : It is much easier to make your website rank well on search engines for long tail keywords because of the generally weaker competition.

3) More Visitors to your website : Aiming long tail keywords will progressively result in more search engine traffic since you have good number of pages indexed and ranking for specific keywords related to your website. This means increased visibility and therefore a good amount of search engine traffic.

4) Higher Monetization Potential : Search Engine visitors are very important since they are targeted individuals who are seeking specific information and hence are more likely to click on contextual ads or subscribe to your site newsletter or blog feed. This increases your audience and allows you greater monetization potential in the long run through product sales or the use of third-party ad networks.
Technorati Links

As such both of these are parallely important to the success of any website, but at times they seem at odds with each other. The solution is very simple, if not well known. Use the “nofollow” tag on the ‘click here’ links and make sure you also have a descriptive link with keyword-rich text available as well.

While the “nofollow” tag was originally set up as a spam fighter, it can be used with surgical precision to increase conversions, without hurting your SEO campaign. It helps because it will tell the search engines not to count or follow the link with the nofollow attribute. This means the keyword-rich link, without the nofollow, will be followed, helping the destination page’s link popularity.

How do you use nofollow?

Normal link:
<a href="http://www.site.com/page.html">Click Here</a>

Adding the nofollow attribute:
<a href="http://www.site.com/page.html" rel=”nofollow”>Click Here</a>

Using it on your site might look like this:
Click here to read more on Fiat Linea.

The HTML code would look like this:
<a href="http://www.site.com/page.html" rel=”nofollow”>Click here</a> for your
<a href="http://www.site.com/page.html&quot>Horoscope</a>.

Finally, SEO and Site Usability living in perfect harmony, until we start talking about graphics vs. text. ;-)
Technorati Links

While designing part helps in grabbing the attention of the users, SEO helps in driving traffic to your site.

Even though both are essential for the success of a website, yet they employ very different techniques and ideas.

Designing Part

Any experienced web designing company, whether based in the UK, the USA or Asia, would keep one objective in common while designing a web site – and that is what is the purpose of the web site and who is it being made for.

In keeping with Web 2.0 trends, a web site today needs to be designed keeping in view the users perspective. It is a user-driven economy on the web now and all web sites must conform to what users want. It is not enough to have an ideal pleasing website design or any attractive animation and flash work on the web site. The website also needs to offer enough engaging inputs to the user through related information, communicating features, user-friendly web design and navigation structure.

SEO Part

If the designer is responsible for making the website look appealing and be user-friendly, it is the job of the SEO experts to make its presence felt amongst its target audience. SEO helps in driving traffic to a website to increase its visibility.

SEO does not only mean placing relevant keywords at the right place. It is a complex and toilsome process involving indexing of pages, directory submissions, link building, talking about the web site in relevant social forums and networking sites and so on.

Which one is more important?

The credit for overall popularity of a website can’t be given singularly to either designers or SEO experts. It is a joint venture and there must be a balance between the two. Without the support of the other, one alone cannot set up the brand indivisuality of an online business without the support of the other.

Suppose, the SEO experts have successfully driven traffic to your site, but what happens if the user doesn’t find the site upto the standard? Again, what’s the use of a good website design if its online presence is significantly low?

The web designers must understand the basics of Search Engine Optimization and on the other hand an SEO expert must realize the importance of designing elements required for branding. It is essential for both to understand and meet the expectations of the web site’s target audience. Users want both search visibility and appealing design and this in turn helps the web site in establishing a strong online presence.

Last but not the least, it is essential to find an affordable web design company which also provides SEO services.
Technorati Links

They abide by the rules laid down and play it safe. White hat methods are the legal technique of search engine optimization.

Black hat SEO techniques are just the opposite of white hat SEO. Here the rules laid by search engines are not followed, but instead changes are made in the website that can get links to a site. The customer experience is not given much importance. Instead, the concern is only to score better in search engines. It is an illegal method for search engine optimization.

White hat SEO Techniques-

a) Content creation - Every professional SEO consultant knows the importance of good content for a website. Content rich websites are easily crawled upon by the search engine spiders. Content creation should be to the point, meaningful, have relevant keywords, and be informative in nature. Choosing the proper keyword phrase is essential. One must choose specific and relevant keywords and optimize the homepage using those keyword phrases.

b) Site optimization - Effective site optimization leads to better website promotion. It covers all important aspects like Meta tags, titles, content, etc.

c) Reciprocal linking - This type of linking also fetches backlinks to your website and can help generate extra profit. It is advisable to allot reciprocal linking to sites that are related to that of yours in some form or the other.

d) Internal linking - Assigning appropriate and clear internal linking within the sites is equally important. Avoid using visual pictures or logos for internal linking as they cannot be identified by search engine spiders. Use text links at the bottom of the homepage along with a sitemap of your entire website.

Black hat SEO Techniques -

a) Interlinking - There are multiple websites that are interlinked to each other for link popularity. This is a rather difficult tactics to be detected.

b) Hidden text – Some websites incorporates text whose font color blends in with the site background. Such websites are easily caught by their competitors, and the site will get blacklisted.

c) Doorway pages - It is the most dangerous form of inserting a doorway page, simply to target specific keywords or phrases with little or no value to the user.

d) Duplicate sites - Some webmasters create duplicate sites for their original site for website promotion purposes. They think that it would outrank their original website. This is a totally banned practice.

e) Stuffing of keywords – This is the most common black hat SEO technique. Here the webmaster inserts large amounts of keywords or phrases repeatedly without having any relevant meaning. Thus text is extremely uninteresting to read. They are usually placed in smaller fonts at the bottom of the page.

f) Cloaking - This method refers to the use of many black hat SEO techniques simultaneously for submitting varied information to search engines, which are invisible to the visitors. They sometimes go undetectable but can be identified by the competitors, and will result in the banning of the website.

To conclude, all reliable and genuine search engine optimization companies practice White hat SEO techniques that have long-term positive outcomes. Black hat SEO can fetch quick results at the start, but when detected, it leads to the blacklisting of your website.
Technorati Links

They are so good that a simple one-word search would display 20,000 pages!

If you're an average researcher who needs ideas on how to use the power of search engines to your best advantage, you've come to the right place. This guide will give you tips and techniques on how to search for better result.

To illustrate, let's do a search at Google.com.

Exact Phrase

· Open Google.com in your browser.

· Type "Chevrolet Optra Magnum" in the search box, then click search. Alternatively, you can press Enter on your keyboard. Enclose the phrase in double quotes. This will tell the search engine to look for the pages that matches the exact phrase.

Google.com will search for the phrase found inside the quotes and will display all pages that contains the exact phrase Chevrolet Optra Magnum in the site's title or description.

Synonyms

If your search terms have synonyms, you might also want them to include in your search results. You can do that by putting the tilde character (~) before the search term.

Typing ~mobile plans in the search box will return sites that talks about or contains 'mobile plans', 'cellular plans', 'cellphone plans' in their pages.

Excluded Words

Say for example you want to search for 'silver jewelry'. Typing in 'silver jewelry' in the search box would give web pages that contains the word 'silver jewelry' on it.

If you want to filter your search results so that sites related to gold won't be displayed, use the (-) operator. This will exclude all sites related to gold jewelry.

Multiple Words

The OR operator will return web sites that contain multiple words in your search term. For example, typing 'Mahindra Xylo Discounts or Offers' in the search box will show pages with the word 'Mahindra Xylo' and either 'Discounts' or 'Offers'.

If you will incorporate these simple, basic tips in your searches, you'll be a much better and informed searcher than most Web users. Your searches will be more specific you don't have to waste time looking for irrelevant information deep in the results pages.
Technorati Links

If you high for organic results, it is ranked (usually) long lasting. So, at this time / money you spend to help you move the ranks, while the PPC campaign is relatively constant over the money is spent and again.

2. Click on organic results is more especially for a very well educated crowd of more than paid results. The more educated your chances, they reduce to click on the ad are a possibility. If you are selling for a high school, you should buy CPC ads. If you are selling to engineers or professors, because you think that's where the volume of SEO is a need to think more about.

3. Organic clicks and also the paid clicks convert. But on an average conversion remains 4.2% vs 3.6% for paid.

4. Reports say that in the b2b environment, less than 1/4th of b2b buyers go for a paid listings in their first try at accessing information.

5. Many consider of Google as a company for searches, but I think of them as a modern media firm with an ultra-efficient mechanism for selling advertisements that work particularly well in the long tail. Like other media companies, Google benefits from efficient pricing of advertising. As more and more niche companies start to advertise on Google, their prices will become more efficient and their rates will become less and less attractive relative to other media outlets.

Organic SEO versus benefits of buying CPC ads :

1. It is fast. You can be up and running with paid ads the very same day you are inspired to move.

2. You can experiment cheaply. The good thing about advertising on Google is that you don't have to create a huge budget for advertising, you can throw as little money as you want, experiment efficiently, get the ratios where you want, and then expand.

3. You can send the clicks to custom landing pages crafted for just the words you bought. This should dramatically increase the conversion rates relative to organic results that more often than not land on your home page.

There are benefits from both sides, so I suggest going for both CPC ads as well as organic seo . To get maximum benefit, I recommend optimizing around some keywords for organic results and buy other keywords.
Technorati Links

Here are a few tips that Obama’s political campaign can teach about search engine optimization:

1) Never be over confident : Uphold some modesty and keep in mind that it doesnt matter how good things look for you now, there is much more work to continue.

2) Don’t keep all your targeted terms in one basket : Barack Obama knew that to win an election meant campaigning in a multi-tiered fashion. You can’t target just one region. You must keep hold on every segment of your market in terms that they can understand.

3) Begin early : It has been since 2 years Barack Obama campaigning for it. For Online, age is a factor. Start up early and hold a top position.

4) Newcomers can beat old veterans : First it was Hillary Clinton then it was John McCain. Just because the other guys have more experience doesn’t mean that the guy with new ideas can’t come out on top. For eg. considering cars in india , we find cardekho on top upbeating various old players.

5) Don’t spend all your time in areas you know you’re going to win : You must target the swing states - that is, there are segments of the marketplace that can go your way or move closer to your competition. Focus on those segments and make a strong case for yourself.

6) Build up a team that covers up for your weaknesses : Obama selected Biden which made a big difference. All Obama where lacked, was in experience which was make up by his running mate. Build up your team in a similar manner and lead ahead.

7) Be positive : It doesnt matter what the enemy throws at you, stay positive and be focused. Always have a ray of hope.

8) Change : Make sure that if you offer change that it is change we need.

Remember, SEO is not a zero sum game. Barack Obama has lessons to teach us all - about Search Engine Optimizations and about life.
Technorati Links

But, one wrong move can ruin your entire future. If you choose the wrong web host – you will end up with a bad status and wastage of money. So, make sure to inquire and put forward all the necessary queries attached to your website in front of your hosting company.

   1. Technical Support: When you go for a web host, the first thing which is very important is the technical support system. This technical support system should be available 24/7 for a website. You can make inquiries like – How well-equipped is the support team? Are they enough members to manage the site and customers? Is there any additional charge for this support system? Once, this is sorted out with satisfactory answers, you can move on to the next aspect which is security.

   2. Security: Security in any form should be of top-quality and servers with proper backup along with storing data in remote places where recovery shall be easy. Firewalls should be well-incorporated. If your web host is providing all these features then you can be sure your site is never going to suffer from any crisis like identity or data theft or failure of power. You can always request for a few company names that are on their servers to check and know their opinion on the provider’s services. You should always opt for a host that features many websites on its servers which is a proof that the security system is indeed good.

   3. Space: Space is the next concerning factor after security. The storage or space for your website on which it is going to be hosted on should be enough for the site. The space that the company presents you with shows the potential of your website can expand further. A normal website uses space anything ranging from 20-30MB. Also, keep in mind it is always better if more megabytes (MB) are available so that incase your site expands in the near future, you will have the extra space. If you get 100MB it is indeed a good bet.

   4. Domain Name: Domain name is very important for a business to prosper. Incase you don’t have a domain name as yet then do find out a few things before you finalize the hosting company like - Does the hosting company take care of the registration process on the Internet? What is the time period for the completion of this process? And is there any additional cost for this purpose? Even before finalizing out domain name for your website, one must go for a search engine friendly domain name. As if you are going for a cars in india website, the keyword car and india must be engaged in the domain name. Or if going for a astrology website, then keywords astrology and horoscope must be considered while selecting a domain name for better search results.

5. If your site is on the planning stages then you need a web design to get it running. There are ways to get it going.
* Get a web designer to make the entire site
* Get a web design template which is cheap compared to any other option but changes cannot be made much

   6. E-mailing: E-mailing is an important aspect as it shows the interaction the website has with its customers. There are basically two types of emailing – POP3 which is joined to the domain name and can easily downloaded to applications like Outlook. Second one is an email can be sent to the domain email ids which will further go on to another email id. You can put forward a certain number questions like these – What is the amount of e-mail ids provided in the plan and the price for additional emailing options?

   7. SEO Services: Putting your website on search engines like Yahoo and Google can indeed get you more success. Find out from your services provider if SEO services is included in your plan and how does it perform its task and does a team manage the site for such purposes.

The remaining three factors which need to be looked into are – price, competition and contract. Are there any costs which might later on surface? Is there any contract which binds you to the company? What extra features are provided by the company to outshine their competitors?

Once, all your queries are answered then no need to think twice. Just go for the deal!
Technorati Links

First of all, make sure to backup your template. You never know what might go wrong.

Then go to Template -> Edit HTML and paste the following code into the page header:

Save it, and then click the Expand Widget Template checkbox.

Scroll down and find this code :
<b:if cond='data:post.labels'> <data:postLabelsLabel/> <b:loop values='data:post.labels' var='label'> <data:label.name/> <b:if cond='data:label.isLast != true"'> </b:if> </b:loop> </b:if>

Change the above code to:

Save it, and then click the Expand Widget Template checkbox.
Find the HTML widget just entered and place it after the main widget.
Then change code in the widget code to :
