It has been one amazing year that has allowed us to meet so many supportive people in the Give A Fluff community from within the US and around the world - as well as allow us to financially help some amazing organizations and people through the sale of our Fluff. All made possible by you! 

It all started with Tammy, Focus the rescue dog and Corgi Love. It didn't take long after the first post on Instagram, for people to see the Corgi Love t-shirt and fall in love with Give A Fluff designs and what it stands for. 

Things gained momentum with lots of new friends, some of which asked if they could be a part of Give A Fluff. So a small team formed, lead by the creative genius of Tammy. We're spread out across the country, and across the world, but we all have a place in the team using our skills to help with communications, the website, getting orders ready to ship - and most of all moral support for Tammy when things get crazy busy! 

The first Give A Fluff website launched at the end of October, 2014, and it allowed us to manage orders a whole lot better as we started to add more products to the range and more people wanted to order.

We have launched over 17 apparel designs, plus stickers and magnets over the past year. And we have been continuously making changes to keep improving the Give A Fluff experience. 

And our community grew too, so finally we got to the stage that we could look to make donations to people and organizations that help animals in need. In the past year Give A Fluff has, through the sale of various products, been able to make one off donations to the following:

• Pupsquad, Houston 
• Aussie and Friends Rescue, Arizona (via the #GiveAFluff2014 competition)
• Domino the Corgi
• Churchilly the Corgi Mix
• Gaisha, Tundra and Spirits Place, Florida 
• Shark Savers
• Dachshund Rescue South Florida
• Plus other small donations to individual dogs in need

But really and truly, we wouldn't be here without the amazing community that supports Give A Fluff. On Instagram where it started, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter, and those that buy our Fluff. We love hearing from you, getting your feedback and seeing you in your Fluff in the wild.

We are looking forward to the next year where we have lots of plans for getting out into the community, launching new products and continuing to support animals in need. 

So we give a big thank you to all our friends, supporters and customers, and celebrate this first birthday with you!

That’s what our Patched Hearts collection is all about – championing those who patch the hearts of animals in need. We will be donating a portion of proceeds from each design to a related rescue group who exemplifies what the Patched Hearts collection stands for.

True to our roots, we chose to feature a corgi as our first Patched Hearts design (shout-out to our friend @dudleycorgi for being the inspiration!). 20% of proceeds will be donated to Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue (QBSDR).

QBSDR specializes in getting special needs corgis and corgi mixes out of Southern California’s high kill shelters and from those looking to re-home their dog and placing them with loving families. Susan Luong (the founder of QBSDR) and her volunteers work closely with the rescued dogs to rehabilitate them and learn about their personalities and needs in order to achieve their main goal of pairing each little stumper with the best furever home for them.

QBSDR is also dedicated to educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering, shelter animals, the importance of training, adoption, and the need for fosters and rescue volunteers. They’re very active in the corgi community and were most recently involved in the highly popular So Cal Corgi Beach Day, where they held a successful campaign that brought in 500 pounds of donated dog food for their low-riders. That’s a lot of stuffed bellies! We support everything that QBSDR stands for and are thrilled to have them as our first Patched Hearts donation recipient.

The biggest threat to the shark population is finning, and the demand for shark fin is driving sharks to extinction. An estimated 100 million sharks are killed each year and nearly 75% of those are killed for shark fin soup, a delicacy in Chinese culture. Shark fins are one of the most expensive seafood products on the market, while shark meat is much less valuable. Because of this, the fishermen who participate in the shark fin trade harvest only the fins and toss the remainder of the body back into the ocean in order to save space on their vessel, often while the shark is still alive. The shark then dies a slow death from suffocation, blood loss, or predation by another species because it is unable to swim or defend itself.

Is the death of an entire species worth a meal that lasts but a few brief minutes? Give A Fluff doesn’t think so. We created our special-edition "Shark Sweets" line to celebrate Shark Week and the sweet side of sharks; the side we don’t typically see or think about. While they aren’t cuddly creatures that give you kisses in exchange for belly rubs, sharks are incredibly important to the ecosystem. They are apex predators – at the top of the food chain – and without them, the food chain would be thrown out of whack and the health of the oceans would be at risk.

There are a number of organizations across the globe that focus on spreading awareness of the threats humans pose to sharks, creating shark sanctuaries, and fighting for shark fishing bans.

After much consideration, Give A Fluff has decided that 10% of proceeds from our “Shark Sweets” line will be donated to Shark Savers, a program of WildAid. Shark Savers' mission is to save "sharks and mantas through building awareness, education, and action," which is exactly the kind of organization Give A Fluff wanted to support. Their various initiatives include:

• "I’m FINished with FINS" – a campaign aimed at informing consumers about the negative consequences of eating shark fin soup and persuading them to stop eating it in order to reduce demand.
• Shark Sanctuaries – a program that focuses on creating laws, community outreach, and offering alternative livelihoods to those reliant on shark fishing to give sharks safe havens in areas around the world.
• SharksCount – any scuba diver who regularly sees sharks can join the team to log, count, and identify sharks they see during dives in order to contribute to shark conservation research.

The Give A Fluff team is incredibly excited to be able to back these initiatives, all thanks to those who purchased a "Shark Sweets" shirt to help us do our part to save sharks. "Shark Sweets" is just the first of many Give A Fluff wildlife designs to come. Stay tuned for more in the future!

We've been teasing you on social media about launching the Superfluff Collection. Well, it's finally here.

Thunder Fluff, Captain Fluff, Hulk Fluff and Iron Fluff.

We're starting with pre-orders for a Unisex and Women's t-shirt, and a Unisex tank with all four of the Superfluff's in an outline silhouette. 

And then there are individual stickers, or the sticker pack (not pre-orders). Stock is limited though, so get 'em quick!

Don't worry! There will be a lot more Superfluff coming later!

Geo Line Collection

We are also really happy to support huskies with the launch of the Geo Line Collection in a husky design.

And to make it even better, we'll be donating $2 from the sale of each pre-order to Gaisha, Tundra & Spirit's Place. Based in Florida, they rescue huskies from around the country to be cared for and adopted. 

The Geo Line Collection will include other breeds and we'll be launching those in the future. 

Since then, he has undergone further surgery and has been poked and prodded and woken in the night for scans. I'm sure you agree that he is an inspiration, because through it all, he has managed to keep up his beautiful smile and charmed all the doctor's at the hospital! 

The good news is that Churchill is doing well and will soon be going home. The not so great news is that while his mom had insurance for Churchill, that has been maxed out. She didn't particularly want to ask the community for help, but people started asking if they could donate, and so she started a gofundme for Churchill. Via that page, and despite all that's going on, she has provided daily updates to keep everyone informed of Churchill's progress. 

We respect all that she's done for Churchill, and especially how she has done it, so we have created a Team Churchill sticker that is available now for pre-order. This is a special edition item, and $3.50 from the sale of each sticker will go towards Churchilly's enormous vet bill. We think it captures him and his smile perfectly!

UPDATE: The stickers have now all sold out. Thank you to those who were able to buy a sticker to support Churchilly. (July 2015)

As well as the sticker, we have donated a one off, special edition t-shirt that will be auctioned by @corgsandeats. This design won't be sold in our shop, so get yourself a real Give A Fluff collectable for a great cause! New Fluff added to the shop

The wait is over to pre-order the Fantastical Collection! Whether you're all about Weeniecorns or trying to rep your side in the #unicorgvscorgon battle, we've got you covered. If you're really a true fanatic, we have opted to make the Fantastical collection our next special-edition box sets, which allows you to save on all the Fantastical offerings that will be in the shop later.

If you were hoping to find some of the other designs for which we've shown the development process on social media, don't worry! They're still in the works, just not ready to go yet. Many new things are still brewing!

We’re proud to announce that with the Give A Fluff Community’s help, we were able to raise $1,490 to support @DominoTheCorgi!

Domino is a seven-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who suffered from a ruptured disc in his back that, if left untreated, could result in permanent paralysis, the loss of bladder control function, and the threat of being put down. Just one year ago, Domino experienced the same problem and was able to recover after a major surgery on his back, which he would now have to go through again. His family launched a GoFundMe campaign and Domino’s followers stepped up to help however they could.

The Give A Fluff team decided to help out by launching a t-shirt campaign (of course) so aptly named “Save Domino’s Butt”. $10 from each shirt sale was to be donated to Domino’s fund, which ended up accounting for over 50% of the profits.

After a discussion with Domino’s family about how much they needed to reach their goal, it was decided that $1,200 of the funds raised would go toward Domino and his medical costs. Thanks to the tremendous response to our campaign, we were able to help Domino’s family exceed their fund goal in less than a week! HOW FRAPTASTIC IS THAT!?

As for the remainder of the money raised, $100 was donated to Pup Squad in Houston (home of Give A Fluff HQ) and the rest will be split between a donation to @hippy_the_corgi, who is suffering from Congential Heart Failure, and another rescue, which we are still in the process of deciding on.

While our efforts are usually focused on rescues and animals with no one fighting for them, we’re proud to have made a big impact on Domino’s fundraiser and wish him a quick recovery!

It’s that time of year again! The holiday season is upon us and it’s time for wrapping presents and baking goodies for our loved ones. This is Give A Fluff’s first holiday blog post and our first edition of Kaylie’s Kitchen. We’re kicking it off with some tasty treats for the not-so-hairy buddies in your life. We’ve all seen the "Pinterest Fails" of various designs for baked goods and some of us have even been the victim of it. This will be a fool-proof, fun and easy design for the busy pet owner who wants to make a special treat for the holidays.

The Snow Pupcake

What you will need

1. White frosting (Homemade or store bought both work)
2. Jumbo Marshmallows
3. Pocky (can be found at the grocery store in the Asian Foods section)
4. Mini M&Ms
5. Wilton decorator icing bags and icing tips (size 8 round tip and a drop flower tip)
6. Baking cups
7. And cupcakes of course

Step one

Make sure your cupcakes have cooled overnight to ensure they will be easier to handle and to prevent the icing from melting. For this design, the recipe you use for the cupcake can be pretty much anything. I chose to go with red velvet cupcakes, as they are festive and yummy. If you are in need of recipe suggestions here are a few to get you started.

• Red Velvet cupcakes
• Chocolate cupcakes
• Nutmeg Feather Cake

Step two

Spread a layer of icing over the top of the cupcake to a medium thickness. You don’t want it to be too thick because then things will slide from the weight.

Step three

Place your marshmallow vertically on top of the cupcake. Make sure it is nestled in the icing well enough to keep it secure.

Step four

The first step in making our cupcake look like a pup will be giving it legs and a tail. Take a stick of Pocky out of the package and using a knife, cut off pieces to use as two front legs, two back legs and one tail for our snow pup. Place the longer sticks as the back legs along each side of the marshmallow, tucking the back of the stick under the marshmallow. Next, tuck the top under the front of the pup for both front legs so that legs stick out in front. Then stick the tail on the backside of the cupcake so that it is wagging happily.

Step five

Get out your icing tips and bags! It’s time to give this cutie a face and ears! Using the small circular tip, put a little dab for two eyes and a bigger dot for the snout/nose. Then make a little square patch of icing on either side of the pup’s head for the ears.

Step six

Cut six small pieces of Pocky to be used as ears and pick out your M&M’s for the face. Place three pieces of Pocky on either side of the head and place the eyes and nose on top of the icing.

Step seven

Now we need to give this little fluff a hat! Grab the icing tip we used before and make a ring going around the top of the marshmallow. Then grab the icing tip with the grooves so that we can give the hat some texture. Using the drop flower tip, squeeze out icing into a circular pattern up to a point. Think of how you would do frozen yogurt as an example. Then go around the edge with mini M&M’s and one to add the little fluff ball to the top of the hat.

Now you are done and you have an adorable and unique treat to bring to holiday parties or give to friends! Decorating all of the cupcakes should be an easy and painless process. The most important part is to have fun and enjoy the holidays. So cuddle up with your family, both furry and not furry, and enjoy this holiday season!

Mother-daughter duo, Joan and Gabby, are raising funds for CorgiPals and Hope For Paws Animal Rescue with their 2015 “Napolean’s Adventures” calendar. The star of the calendar, Napolean, is the quirky and adorable @napoleanthecorgi on Instagram.

The story behind this fundraiser began almost seven years ago when Napolean’s family decided to get a pet. They spent countless hours at animal shelters and researching different dog breeds in hopes of finding their perfect match, but all that went out the window when they met a corgi puppy on a family outing. Wasting no time at all, they found Napolean’s breeder and traveled over 100 miles to bring him home.

Making videos of Napolean performing tricks and posting them on YouTube soon became a fun family hobby, which eventually grew into Napolean having his own Instagram account. But they never imagined that he would gain such a large following. Now they’re putting his “fame” toward a good cause to help dogs in need.

“Although we got Napolean from a responsible breeder, we have always wanted to adopt another dog. There are so many dogs in need of homes, and since we are so fortunate to be in a position to help them, we decided to create this fundraiser,” Joan explains. “Due to the amazing support from other corgi lovers plus the gradual rise in Napolean's fan base, a calendar of his adventures on Instagram seemed like a great way to help raise money.”

The pictures for each month were chosen by Napolean’s Instagram followers, who voted on which pictures they loved best and wanted to be included. As an incentive, his followers were also given the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a package of goodies from Petbox to be sent to their local shelter. Some time this month they will be sending some much needed items to a shelter in Texas!

Because of the organizations’ histories with success stories that were made possible by donations from the public, Joan and Gabby chose CorgiPals and Hope For Paws Animal Rescue as the fundraiser’s donation recipients in hopes of making even more success stories possible. Both are non-profit organizations working to fund payments for much needed veterinarian care and rescue missions. The goal of the calendar fundraiser is to raise $200 in donations, as well as spread more awareness about the importance of these organizations. Joan and Gabby believe that “all dogs deserve a second chance and we can provide them with this chance through donations and support.”

While “Napolean’s Adventures” 2015 Calendar was only available for a limited time, we hope to see Joan and Gabby make this fundraiser an annual event so we can all have Napolean’s smiling face in our homes in 2016!
