Fifa president Sepp Blatter inaugurates AFC Challenge Cup 2012 , Kathmandu

AFC challenge cup has been inaugurated by Fifa president Sepp Blatter today.Minister for Youth and Sports Kamala Rokka, National Sports Council Secretary Yubaraj Lama, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Chairman Ganesh Thapa, among others, welcomed Blatter upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). This is the first time that a high level official of international sports has visited Nepal.

Blatter has met President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattari. Blatter will leave for India after completing his two-day Nepal visit.

What is Kony 2012?
KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.Kony received a surge of attention in early March 2012 with the release of "Kony 2012", a thirty minute documentary, was made by filmaker Jason Russell for the campaign group Invisible Children Inc. The film's aim is to make Joseph Kony famous, since fame would justify the United States getting involved in Kony's capture. Personally, I have never seen an outpour of support from people on my Facebook news feed like this.

Holi , is a religious spring festival celebrated by Hindus. Holi is also known as festival of Colours. It is primarily observed in Nepal, india,and countries with large Indic diaspora populations following Hinduism, such as Suriname, Malaysia, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad, United Kingdom, United States, Mauritius, and Fiji.

The main day, Holi, also known as Dhuli in Sanskrit, also Dhulheti, Dhulandi or Dhulendi, is celebrated by people throwing scented powder and perfume at each other. Bonfires are lit on the eve of the festival, also known as Holika Dahan (burning of Holika) or Chhoti Holi (little Holi). After doing holika dahan prayers are said and praise is offered. The bonfires are lit in memory of the miraculous escape that young Prahlad accomplished when Demoness Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, carried him into the fire. Holika was burnt but Prahlad, a staunch devotee of god Vishnu, escaped without any injuries due to his unshakable devotion. Holika Dahan is referred to as Kama Dahanam in South India.

Holi is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna (February/March), (Phalgun Purnima), which usually falls in the later part of February or March.

In most areas, Holi lasts about two days. One of Holi’s biggest customs is the loosening strictness of social structures, which normally include age, sex, status, and caste. Holi closes the wide gaps between social classes and brings Hindus together. Together, the rich and poor, women and men, enjoy each other’s presence on this joyous day. Additionally, Holi lowers the strictness of social norms. No one expects polite behavior; as a result, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and joy.

Every year, thousands of Hindus participate in the festival Holi. Waiting for the day after the full moon in the month of Phalguna, or early March, These men and women are ready to spread the joy. Holi has many purposes. First and foremost, it celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring. It also has a religious purpose, commemorating many events that are present in Hindu mythology. Although it is the least religious holiday, it is probably one of the most exhilarating ones in existence. During this event, participants hold a bonfire, throw colored powder at each other, and celebrate wildly.

Originally, it was a festival that commemorated good harvests and the fertile land. In addition to celebrating the coming of spring, Holi has even greater purposes. Hindus believe it is a time of enjoying spring's abundant colors and saying farewell to winter. Furthermore, Holi celebrates many religious myths and legends.

Rangapanchami occurs a few days later on a Panchami (fifth day of the full moon), marking the end of festivities involving colours.

In Nepal, Holi is celebrated in the month of Falgun and is also called as the "Fagu" and is celebrated on the Full moon day in the month of February. The word "Fagu" represents the month of Falgun and the day is called the "Fagu Poornima" which means (full moon day in the Falgun).

In Nepal Holi is regarded as one of the greatest festivals as important as Dashain (also known as Dussehra in India) and Tihar or Dipawali (also known as Diwali in India). Since more than 80% of people in Nepal are Hindus, Holi, along with many other Hindu festivals, is celebrated in Nepal as a national festival and almost everyone celebrates it regardless of their religion, e.g., even Muslims celebrate it. Christians may also join in, although since Holi falls during Lent, many would not join in the festivities. The day of Holi is also a national holiday in Nepal.

People walk down their neighbourhoods to celebrate Holi by exchanging colours and spraying coloured water on one another. A popular activity is the throwing of water balloons at one another, sometimes called lola (meaning water balloon).[10] Also a lot of people mix bhang in their drinks and food, as also done during Shivaratri. It is believed that the combination of different colours played at this festival take all the sorrow away and make life itself more colourful.

Our tourism and civil aviation minister Lokendra Bista was arrested at the Abu Dhabi airport transit along with his wife today. Bista was going to Germany for a tourism conference but without a German visa and was almost deported back to Nepal.Bista and his secretary including other member couldn't recognized the difference between visa note and visa sticker.Foreign ministry wrote and note/letter saying to help in visa process which Bista including his members thought as a visa which wasn't actually.What can you expect from International departure in Nepal.They wouldn't have checked his passport at all.But when they reached arrival department in Abu Dhabi they got caught. Later, when the officials verified that he was in fact a "minister" they let him and his wife stay at their transit hotel. Our "honorary?" minister will now apply for a German visa from Abu Dhabi itself. He wanted to do it today, sadly the office time was over and so he will be spending the night at Abu Dhabi tonite. But seriously, why the act of such supreme foolishness?

Babarmahal bombing:How did it happen

Six persons have been arrested Saturday for involvement in the capital’s bombing last month, However, the alleged mastermind of the explosion, Dev Raj Lama, aka Bishwokranti, is still at large.All the six are cadres of the underground outfit, the Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha (SJMM).

This is the mastermind of the explosion and Head leader of SJJM Dev raj lama ( CHOR PAPI!)

According to chief of investigation bureau Deputy Inspector General of Police Upendra Kanta Aryal, Bhim Bahadur Tamang, 35, and Nima Dorje Tamang, 30, are central committee members of the SJMM. According to Aryal, the duo planned the blast and worked under Lama’s direct supervision.“We found Golay took charge of selecting the place for explosion, while he was also involved in making the bomb,” Aryal said. The others arrested are Prem Tamang, 28, Sagar Lama, 20, and Suresh Lama, 20, placed the bomb in front of the Nepal Oil Corporation office at Babarmahal. “The bomb was made at Sinamangal,” Aryal said.

According to him, the blast was a result of 10 days of planning and that it was planted at Babarmahal one hour before it went off, killing three persons and injuring seven. Police said the sole aim of the SJMM was to come to the limelight and terrorise people to make the group’s extortion drive more effective. “There seems to be no political motive behind the blast,” he said. He added that the persons who died in the explosion had no hand in the blast.

The first word came out watching this trailer was "Oh god!!".This is an another pure example of sleazy nepali movie aiming to sell 'sex' , delivering vulgarity on our nepali film industry as Chapali height.

Starring Shovita Simkhada, Introducing Puskar Jung Thapa and Suresh Chaudhary Xenium Media House presents "The Last Kiss"... The trailer describe movie as the unique love story, But i can't find any other story than those vulgar scenes and dirty dialogues..

Do you guys recognize any of the actor actress?...neither me!!

The movie seems totally based on narrow-minded commercial concept.The trailer and the scenes and those vulgar word might motivate people to go and watch movie..the movie might earn profit.....but at end of the day...."KHATAM NEPALI MOVIE !!! KHATAM ACTING !! CHAY KASTO MOVIE !! YESTAI HO NEPALI MOVIE!!...it will never be appreciated ....come one film makers !! actor and actress!! make something that will be appreciated ...that makes you remember!! it might not have earned that much but movie like "BASANTI", "BALIDAN", "LAHURE" ..have different prestige ..those stories have lived in our heart ...we salute those actor, actress and film makers.But when people see whoever has made this movie( the last kiss), whoever have acted in this movie in the street people will say " TEI TORMA LAST KISS MA KHELNA ..THAT'S IT!!"

I wonder why filmmakers don't make any movie based on Prithvi Narayn Shah , movie based on Anglo war and movie based on Gautam buddha..AS we all know we have great history of gurkhali!! We've the natural beauty around us...But who and when these aspects are going to be captured in camera!!

Prince Harry not going to come Everest as planned

We had an very good news about prince harry coming to Nepal to join Walking with the Wounded organization .But unfortunately news has come that Britain's Prince Harry won't be climbing Mount Everest this spring with a group of wounded servicemen as planned, his spokesman said .

The 27-year-old royal made a four-day trek to the North Pole with members of the Walking with the Wounded organization last April and was expected to reunite with them to scale Everest this May.

"He won't be going to the Himalayas because of his military commitments. Naturally, he is very disappointed that he won't be able to join the Walking with the Wounded team," Harry's representative told The Daily Telegraph.

Guinness World Records announced Sunday, The world's shortest man is Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Nepal.His name and fame is spreading like wildfire around the world.Right now if you go to google and search Chandra bahadur dangi , you will find 1 crore and 45 lakhs of webpages, 26 lakhs of images and 1 lakhs 47 thousands of videos about him whereas if we search same for indian prime minister we will only get 26 lakhs of webpages and we will get about 28 crore for US president Barack obama.In comparison to well-known nepali politician this is thousands times more figure.Thus , the whole world is dying to know him the shortest man in the world, 72 years-old, 12 kg weighed from Dang district Nepal.It has also heightened our country's name and fame around the world .

At least three people were killed and seven wounded in an explosion near government offices in Kathmandu on Monday, police said, in the first bomb attack in the Nepali capital for three years.A little-known organisation calling itself the Unified Ethnic Liberation Front Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha-Bishwokranti (SJMM) have claimed responsibility, Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchadar said, although their agenda remains unclear.

"We will take action against the group. This is a political group which the police are investigating," he told reporters.

Talking with local news channel Sagarmatha SJMM claims responsibility of bombing here is what he said in video:

It is true that there is corruption everywhere , and it is true that we should stand up and get together to stop it , but is that the way!!? These guys deserves to go to hell whoever did this...killing innocent people...Petroleum price hike is realistic!! we can't produce it ....we have to buy from india ..and petroleum price is increasing everywhere ....what can government do if the economy is weak!!!!!! even if they decrease the price government have to get it fill from tax or VAT!! The one who called to Sagarmatha channel and owned up the bombing seems to be very proud of killing these innocent people.Nepal police have recently found it out that this man with name Vishwokranti is Devraj Lama from Kavre district who has already been accused in Dhading Prison because of his criminal activities in 2067.

The highest start to a marathon is for the biennially-held Everest Marathon, first run on 27 November 1987. It begins at Gorak Shep, 5,212 m (17,100 ft) and ends at Namche Bazar, 3,444 m (11,300 ft). The fastest times to complete this race are, men 3 hrs 50 mins 23 secs by Hari Roka (Nepal) in 2000, and women 4 hrs 35 mins 4 secs by Anna Frost (New Zealand) in 2009.

Bomb goes off outside NOC, three killed, SJMM owns up blast

(Ekantipur)Three people have been killed and other five injured when a powerful bomb went off outside the gate of Nepal Oil Corporation's central office in Babarmahal in the Capital on Monday.

The bomb went off at around 1:05 pm this afternoon.

Among three, two died on the spot and one while undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital. The injured have been receiving medical treatment at the same hospital, sources confirmed.

The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha-Bishwokranti (SJMM), an ethnic outfit, has owned up the blast.

The NOC office is situated just three meters away from country's main administration Singhadurbar where security personnel are deployed 24/7.

It has been reported that a meeting of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on fuel price hike was underway when the explosion took place.

Shortest man ever recorded in the world history Chandra Bahadur Dangi

On Feb 4 we posted that Guinness World Records officials are to travel to Nepal to measure Chandra Bdr Dangi to find out whether he is the shortest man in the world.And i am beyond happy that it has finally been confirmed that Chandra Bdr Dangi from Nepal is the world's new Shortest Living Man, measuring 54.6cm (21.5 in).Not only that he is the Shortest man ever recorded in the history.Chandra Bahadur Dangi, who says he's 72, earned the title with a height of 54.6 centimeters (21.5 inches), Guinness World Records announced Sunday.We are so proud of him aren't we? Now we haven't only got Highest mountain Mount Everest but also shortest man in the world.

Guinness editor-in-chief Craig Glenday traveled to the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, where he oversaw the official measurements of Chandra at medical clinic.

The Guinness World Record guidelines required three measurements of Chandra's height taken over 24 hours, which included his length standing and lying flat.

Chandra is more than an inch shorter than the current holder of the "shortest man living" title, Filipino Jurney Balawing, who is 59.9 centimeters, or just under 2 feet. Balawing was awarded the title in June when he turned 18.

Guiness has also awarded Chandra the title of "shortest man ever." The previous record holder was Gul Mohammed of India, who measured 57 centimeters. He died at age 40 in 1997.

In contrast, Sultan Kosen from Turkey, who was awarded the 'tallest living man' in February 2011, is 2.5 meters, or 8-foot-3.

Chandra lives in Rhimkholi, an isolated mountain village some 400 kilometers west of Kathmandu.

A forest contractor who was cutting timber in Rhimkholi brought Chandra's height to the attention of local media, Guinness said on its website.

Chandra has five brothers and two sisters, according to Guinness. He is a weaver by trade, but also cares for his family and helps look after the village's buffaloes and cows.

"I'm very happy that I'm being recognized by Guinness World Records and that my name will be written in book," Chandra said after he was awarded the two Guinness certificates. "It's a big thing for my family, my village and my country. I am very happy."

According to Guinness, Chandra claims weigh 14.5 kilogram, or 32 pounds.

Despite his age, he claims to have never taken any kind of medication or to have ever been examined by a doctor, according to Guinness.

"I'm continually amazed that this record keeps getting broken," Glenday said. "Just when you think it's impossible for the record to get any smaller, Mr. Chandra comes along and astonishes us all by being the shortest person ever measured. What I find equally remarkable is his age -- if he really is 72, he is by far the oldest person to be awarded the shortest-man record in Guinness World Record's 57-year history."

According to Guinness, Chandra said he will use the experience to make his country "proud." Chandra and his family plan to start a charity that will support him and his village.

The world's shortest living woman is currently 18-year-old Jyoti Amge from India at 62.8 centimeters, or just a little over 2 feet.

Personally i watched Loot in Greater union cinema, Melbourne ...it was just awesome..i felt like it was the best moment i've ever spent here in melbourne.Throughout the movie i never felt bored..i didn't have time to go to toilet ...really it was great humorous and beautifully made movie .Characters were great..as the movie comes to end it gets interesting and interesting just awesome!!

· Loot is a story revolving around the gruesome street life of Kathmandu. An ordinary Bhatti Chalaune man now popular as Haku Kale plots a plan to rob a bank with 5 young guys.· And while, the ending of the story makes for quite an interesting event to watch, it is the journey to the climax that is just so undeniably good. My favorite feature of the movie is how the story of LOOT incorporates the day-to-day humor of life, making people genuinely laugh in between the thriller/action sequences. A relief from the otherwise annoying, wanna-be-funny- sound-induced comic scenes- the popular format used by many Nepali movies and television serials alike.

· Loot is a conceived idea of the talented 31-year-old Director Nischal Basnet who told that he came up with the idea of loot one ordinary night, out of the blue. He sat up writing the first draft of the movie from 10PM at night to 4AM. This was some one-and-a-half-years ago.

So guys if you haven't watch this movie yet ...you should!!

Money and the political power could change the rule and constitution.But today it has been changed and brought us indefinite happiness and hope.First time in Nepal's history the supreme Court convicted a sitting minister for Information and Communications Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta, sentenced him to 18-month jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 8.4 million for amassing wealth disproportionate to his income.The police later took Gupta to the Dillibazaar prison.

The court also recommended that the Judicial Council take action against Special Court judges Bhupadhwoj Adhikari, Komal Nath Sharma and Cholendra Shumsher Janga Bahadur Rana, who had “illegally” acquitted Gupta of all corruption charges on June 7, 2007. They made “grave mistakes”, the court said.

Gupta, the court said, amassed wealth by abusing power during his various stints as minister. The court also ordered confiscation of his property worth Rs. 8.4 million in addition to the fine. A division bench of Justices Shusila Karki and Tarka Raj Bhatta announced the verdict in the case that was in the SC since November 8, 2007.Hon'ble Justice Mrs. Sushila Karki (Subedi) is the first women Hon'ble Justice of Nepal.Proud of her and the justice to Nepal she had made.

Today,Shivaratri (The great night of lord shiva)is being observed by millions of hindus around the world.Nepal, Land of the god and temples, land of Lord Shiva(Lord of all Lords)for here you can feel his presence everywhere.The temple of Pashupatinath in Kathmandu which is considered as one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus, glorifying Lord Shiva, thus receives more than 100,000 worshippers during the festival of Shiva Ratri. These worshippers come from far and wide to pay their respects and homage to Mahadev on his sacred day.Even in the sacred texts of the Hindus it has been stated that Mt. Kailash in the Himalayas is the abode of Lord Shiva or Mahadeva as he is also known. Shiva the Destroyer of Evil is among the most praised and worshipped of all the gods in the Hindu religion. Hindus all over the world know him through different names and forms. The country has thousands of idols and monuments, which glorify his name, the most common one being the Shiva Linga or the phallus of Shiva that represents him. For it is the Shiva linga that Hindus regard as the symbol of creation, the beginning of everything.

Maha Shivratri ,is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. Alternate common names/spellings include Maha Sivaratri, Shivaratri, Sivarathri, and Shivaratra. Shivaratri literally means the great night of Shiva or the night of Shiva. It is celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day of the Maagha or Phalguna month of the Hindu calendar. Since many different calendars are followed by various ethno-linguistic groups of India, the month and the Tithi name are not uniform all over India. Celebrated in the dark fortnight or Krishna Paksha(waning moon) of the month of Maagha according to the Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama or Phalguna according to the Vikrama era. The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael or Bilva/Vilvam leaves to Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil. In accordance with scriptural and discipleship traditions, penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's summum bonum steadily and swiftly. A week long International Mandi Shivratri Fair held at Mandi in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh every year is one of the major tourist attractions in the state.

According to a legend, Parvati performed tapas, prayed and meditated on this day to ward off any evil that might befall her husband on the moonless night. Since then, Mahashivaratri is believed to be an auspicious occasion for women to pray for the well-being of their husbands and sons. An unmarried woman prays for a husband like Shiva, who is considered to be the ideal husband. Another legend of the day is that Shiva and Shakti married each other.

There is one more legend of shivaratri associated with Samudra Manthan, a process in which the asuras and the gods joined hands to churn out amrut(necter) from the depths of the ocean, using a mountain and a snake as a rope. Among many things that came out, a pot of poison came out of the ocean and on the request of gods, Lord Shiva drank the poison. The poison was so potent that it changed the color of His neck to blue. For this reason, Lord Shiva is also called Neelkanth.

Sudan Scam: Biggest corruption

Sudan Scam was not just corruption it ruined Nepal and it's prestige!!

FEB 13 - The Special Court on Monday convicted five persons including three former Inspector General Police (IGPs) and two suppliers on charges of corruption in the multi-million dollar Sudan scam.

A special bench headed by Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki and comprising members Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Chalise issued the verdict on the biggest high-profile corruption case in the country’s history. However, the court gave a clean-chit to 31 police officers who were accused in the scam earlier.

Each of the convicts have been sentenced to two years in jail along with fine--ranging from Rs 40 million to Rs 280 million.

The Special Court has slapped a fine of Rs 170 million on former IGP Om Bikram Rana, Rs 60 million fine on ex IGP Hem Bahadur Gurung and Rs 40 million on former IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri.

Likewise, the court pronounced a two-year jail term and Rs 280 million fine to Director of London-based Assured Risks, Michael Rider, who supplied the Armoured Personal Carriers (APCs) and other logistics for the Nepal Police Peace Keeping Mission deployed in Darfur, Sudan.

Proprietor of Bhagwati Traders, Shambhu Bharati, who was the local agent of Assured Risks Limited, has been slapped a fine Rs 140 million along with the jail term.

In June last year, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a corruption case against 34 top police officers and two suppliers on the charge of misappropriating millions of rupees during the purchase of APCs for Nepali peace keeping mission deployed in Darfur, Sudan.(Ekantipur)

It is so disgusting!! .....The trailer just looks like someone is trying to ruin prestige of kathmandu & Nepal. First of all poor performance....disappointing dialogues & story line...The movie says "Based on current situation "..but it doesn't seem to be able to reflects that ......Which mother of Nepal says"go and do whatever you want but don't get pregnant ...or don't inform me unless you abort it"...It is so hateful!!!The movie just looks money minded showing dirty scenes & dialogues!!!...."Kathmandu ..The city where Anything can happen" .....what does it mean? ....This kind of movies just discouraging them who are dying to see Nepal...!!
