Using Yahoo Mail With Your Favorite Mail Apps

I am a Google Mail user, but before it, I was using Yahoomail first. I really didn't care about Mail Apps before, never used one for free mails. I've used MS Outlook, but it was limited to my office POP3 mail. And for those who were old enough to have used Netscape, you may be familiar with Eudora as well. Never mind those who said "Nets... what?", you where too young to access the internet then.

Here is where the problem comes in. I've been using my Mac Mail with GMail for quite some time (um, ever since I've switched to Mac). It worked perfectly, since this was already my primary free email. I was contented with my Yahoo Mail as a browser only mail, since I only use my Yahoo account for messaging. So contented that I didn't even bother integrating my account to my Mail App... Until today. My wife asked me if it was possible to have her email integrated in the Mac's Mail app, since she was used to just having her email pushed in her iPhone.

Hmm, I haven't tried that out yet, I bet it would be as simple as setting up my GMail. Not! It turns out Yahoo wants you to pay extra for the POP3 server, its called Yahoo Plus, and I have no intention of paying for a free email.

By default, Mail automatically determines what email you are using, and when it finds out your using Yahoo Mail, it will automatically connect you to the Yahoo Plus email POP3 and SMTP servers. Here's what to do:

1. When you add an account, fill out the Name, Email Address and Password. But uncheck the Automatically setup the account.

2. On the incoming server choose IMAP as the account type and not POP.

3. Replace "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" with "imap.mail.yahoo.com". You username and password should work, no need to replace it. If it doesn't try using your username without the "@yahoo.com"

4. Click continue, and replace "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" with "smtp.mail.yahoo.com".

5. Click continue, and that should do it. Wait for the mail to come.

These are the same settings that the iPhone and Android Phones use. So I thought, if it works on the iPhone, it should work on the Mac too, and probably on Microsoft Outlook as well.

Logitech today launched their first Solar powered wireless keyboard. This means no more changing of batteries, and a much slimmer profile. The keyboard can be powered by both direct sunlight or indoor light. On a full charge, it can last up to 3 months of no light (if you intend of typing inside a cave). It also uses Logitech's unifying 2.4 Ghz unifier receiver, which means using only 1 USB port for your new keyboard and a Logitech mouse.

The Logitech K750 keyboard is projected to sell at $80 at PC stores near you. Works with Mac and PC too.

If it came in an aluminum body and glass keys, it would probably win an award from Greenpeace.

Using your Android Device Part 1

New technologies always come with new experiences. And new operating systems come with new UI (User Interface). This is because manufacturers think that their design is better than the competition or sometimes they just do it to distinguish themselves from the pack.

Google Android OS is one, they are positioning themselves as the new Smartphone Operating System. Challenging Apple's iPhone iOS, Microsoft's Windows Phone, RIM's Blackberry and Nokia's Symbian. Android is more closely knitted to Apple's iOS, which features some similar functions of the iPhone, like Maps, Full Browser and an App Store, or Market as they call it in Android.

To make it a little simpler, we will compare some aspects that may be similar to a PC function.

The Buttons

Android devices unlike the iPhone or the iPad has 3 major buttons as compared to Apple's famous Home button. These are the "back", "menu" and 'home", these can either be hardware or software buttons depending on the hardware manufacturer.

Back Button - is a button used to return one step backwards, it is sometimes used in some applications that uses a back function. A good example is a browser, the back button can be used to return to a previously visited website much like the back button of a PC browser. Some eBooks also use this to return to a previous page. The button function goes beyond the program itself, like if you press too much will bring you to the Home Screen.

Menu Button - will show menus of a particular application. This is comparable to Windows' or Mac's famous "File, Edit ..." drop-down menus when using a program.

Home Screen Button - this instantly bring you back to the Home Screen, no PC equivalent for this one. This is a smart phone / tablet thing.

Finger Gestures

Aside from the 3 buttons, you must also remember the basic finger gestures of the device. These are "swipe", "long press" "tap" and "double tap".

Swipe - is when you hold down your finger and slide it across the screen, this can either be done vertically or horizontally depending on the application or program used.

Long Press - is holding down your finger a little longer than 3 seconds. This launches some other menus similar to the mouse's right click.

Tap - is the term used in touch screen devices as the equivalent of clicking the mouse. You can run or start an application by tapping the icon.

Double Tap - is like double clicking, but it has a slightly different function in some application. In maps and browsers, double clicking is used to quickly zoom in and sometimes zooming out.

The Screen

Upon booting, you will be greeted with a Welcome screen with time and date. Depending on the OS version, there are 2 ways of logging in. For the Android 1.6, you have to press the home button for 3-5 seconds. For Android 2.1 and 2.2 you slide the lock button from left to right.

Once you have entered or logged in, you will see some icons or "shortcuts" and sometimes may include "widgets" like the Google search bar on top. The Home screen also features a tiny arrow, either on the bottom or at the right side, this contains "All Applications" (programs) installed in the device, similar to the "All Programs" in Windows or "Applications" on a Mac.

By default you have 3 desktops, this is used to organize shortcuts and widgets. You can access the additional desktops by swiping left or swiping right.

Organizing and Using Android

Basically, the default setup of every Android device gives you access to the following : Mail, Browser and Contacts, these are the basic use of Tablets or Smartphones. But you may wish to rearrange, add or delete specific shortcuts. You can do this with the "long press" gesture.

To Delete a shortcut from the desktop "long press" the icon you wish to delete (Notice the icon's slight lift, and the small arrow on the bottom or on the right side becomes a Trash Bin icon), drag it to the rightmost or bottom side, where the Trash icon is located and lift your finger as soon as the icon is on top of the Trash. This deletes the shortcut, but not the application (more on installing and uninstalling applications in Part 2).

Rearranging icons and shortcuts are much similar with deleting them. But this time instead of dragging them to the Trash bin, you drag it where you want it located.

Adding shortcuts to the desktop is done by first accessing the "All Applications" arrow, and long pressing the icon you want to place on the desktop. As soon as the icon gets lifted, the "All Applications" pane will slide back to show the desktop, lift your finger on where you want the shortcut placed.

The New Macbook Air Now in 11.6 inch Models

We all remember Steve Job's statement "we don't know how to make a $500 computer that's not a piece of junk." Apparently referring to a barrage of netbooks swarming the market today. But Apple didn't say it wasn't keen on making its own version of the netbook. This is where the new 11.6 inch Macbook Air positions itself, a no nonsense netbook.

Boasting of a more regular processor (1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo) and a SSD (Solid State Drive) storage in a sleek, ultra-thin aluminum unibody shell. Its specs are more closely related to a regular laptop, have an nVidia GeForce 320M, and shunning away from the cheap Intel Atom processor. This baby can run decent gaming that netbooks. Of course this doesn't come with a price, starting at $999 for the entry level model, its a clear contrast to a $299 Acer Aspire One netbook.

Performance was very good for its size, the only thing you would be missing, is the limited storage space. I comes with 64GB for the entry level and 128GB for the higher model, in a world where 320GB drives are the norms in netbooks. This is primarily because of the more costly Solid State Drives, that Apple decided to fit in the Macbook air. Which gives it a near instant boot experience, faster processing and longer standby time (upto 30days) at a lightweight package.

Overall I would consider the new Macbook Air as a premier netbook for a mobile person like me. The new Macbook Air also comes with a 13 inch screen model with a slightly higher specs (1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, 128GB up to 256GB storage and SD Card Slot)

Facebook for Android is Now Better

Since shifting to an Android device, one of the most sought after app is Facebook. I was delighted to see Facebook in the Android Market, and immediately downloaded and installed it. It was ok until you click on a video or a picture. It links you to your browser and asks for your login information. Coming from iPhone, this was a real disappointment for me, WTF is the Facebook app for, if it links to a browser?

Finally Facebook addressed this problem before I got to remove the app from my phone. The new version features a better looking layout, an integrated photo viewer with commenting but no tagging, a video viewer that links to your phone's media player, and a carousel at the bottom of the home screen that features new pictures or media updates. The controls were a bit different now, to access the home menu, you have to click on Facebook, as the default view is the News Feed portion which gives you just a search button and Facebook.

Just wished chat was already available in it too, to save me some space in installing other third party apps for chat.Over all it was great, can't wait for the next update.

Configuring your Huawei MiFi e5830

So you've finally purchased your spanking new MiFi to use on you Wifi devices. This is a short guide to the Huawei MiFi interface.

Note: This is a guide to unlocked Huawei MiFi Units that has been reverted to the original firmware (customizable) and not the locked 3 model.

Here is a quick video walk-through of the MiFi modem.

Once connected you can access the device via any browser, and pointing it to http://192.168.1.1 like any other routers.

The home screen will show you the status of your connection.

You may opt to use the Quick Setup for a step by step configuration

Press 'Next', then fill up the necessary information.

After filling up the necessary info, press next. Specify whether you want the device to connect automatically (start when powered on), manually (by pressing the connect button on the unit) or on demand (when a connection request is received). Then click 'next'.

The succeeding menu will be about setting up the Wifi part of the modem, fill out the necessary info if you want it customized (ie SSID, WPA passkey, etc.). If you decide to stick with the default, just press 'next' in every menu.

After everything is done, you can now enjoy your wireless internet.

It All STARTed 15 Years Ago

START. 15 years ago this button gets introduced to the Windows GUI. It will be the start of 15 years (or more years) of clicking this button. It had several transformations, from redesigning it with an eye candy look, just leaving the logo, and making the logo button a little bigger. Even with these changes, the fact remains is that it became Microsoft Window's trade mark. It was to become the distinction of the Windows' GUI from the Mac's. And people started learning and getting comfortable with this button.

The launch of Windows 95 was mixed with those who loved it or hated it. Some didn't like the change, but majority liked it. This was one of the best launches Microsoft had, people talked about it and got all excited with it.

It came at a time where the PC market was evolving and Microsoft had the momentum, PCs were upgrading to faster machines, and CD-ROMs where a staple on the Desktop (imagine installing Windows 95 in floppies). This was also the time "plug and play" was introduced, although didn't work 100% (until now). Also, using 32bit computing, this Operating System also paved the way for new and more interactive applications. I remember we had a Grolier Encyclopedia installed on out beige 486 machine, Solitaire was different, games also improved, like Test drive, Where in the world is Carmen San Diego and many others. Truly the PC had become a multi media machine, and of course who could forget the videos that was included in the CD, that taught us how to use the Media Player.

Microsoft took quite a bet and quite a number of resources pulling this off, I just hope that they would be daring enough do something really different with Windows again. Maybe we should ask them "where do you want to go today?"

Apple's Working on Something

The iMac design and interface is already showing its age, in terms of the look and feel of the whole OS. It has undergone lots of facelift from the time Apple switched to OSX. And clearly the OSX will needs something new, an OS XI perhaps? And clearly they are up to something again, patents provide proof.

To adopt with the changing times, Apple is trying to do its touch screen version of the PC. Sure we've seen HP do it, but Steve and the gang are doing something different.

The patent details the hardware and software features of the concept iMac. This includes a tilting screen which uses the 2 hinges to make the device slightly lying on its back. This makes more sense for using the computer as a touch screen device as opposed to the HP touch PC design which makes user touch an upright screen.

To make the experience more sensible, some sort of OS switching may take place when tilting the screen. An accelerometer/gyroscope will be embedded on the screen to sense the position of the screen. This will trigger the OS switch.

The OS will feature an iPhone or iOS feel, it will share the same concept for manipulating objects from the desktop. And when the screen is standing, it will shift to the regular desktop interface.

Getting Online Without Wifi

For iPhone, iPad or Android Phone users, getting on the net is one of their primary reason of buying their phone or tablet. Sure there's wifi, but what if its unavailable, here are some tips on how to connect wirelessly using 3G or HSDPA.

First, you should know where to look for the settings on your device.

For iPhone and iPad (3G) users, here is where to go:

Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network

Make sure Enable 3G is on, otherwise you'll be connected to GPRS (which is like a 33.6k modem) instead of the faster 3G connection.

For Android users, here is where to go :

Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

if there already a preset APN, you may edit it by selecting it and change the APN

Magic Jack not so Magical Anymore

After a while of not using my magic jack, I didn't have an idea on how much it has changed since the last time I've used it.

Since the very beginning, Magic Jack and my Apple Mac didn't really get along that well. Every time an update become available, upgrading the Mac version has always been a mess. I always wonder, why the heck do they need to update the software that often? I just needed to make calls. For the past months I was able to somehow get around it. But it wasn't easy, specially for a non tech savvy person. I didn't rely on the automatic updates it got. I've always downloaded the latest one from their website, and install it manually.

This time, its a bit different, after updating and re-registering (for the Nth time), I wasn't successful. I tried manually downloading the update from their website, and it took soooo long for it to get downloaded. For an 11.6 MB software, 30 minutes to an hour of downloading was way too much. I don't have a slow connection, I can download other apps like Quicktime or iTunes from Apple faster, and those were much more than 11 MB.

In the end all I got was a message saying that my OSX version is not supported. WTF? I'm just using a OSX Leopard version, it can't be that old? How come Yahoo and Skype still supports my Mac?

Their website says, "works with Intel Macs", apparently not all, they could have just said "only works with the latest Intel Macs ... so old Intel Mac sissies, this is not for you". So, if your a 100% Mac user (not using the latest Macs), stay away from Magic Jack, they have a crappy Mac support.

I still don't get it, they have XP support but not Leopard? XP is like a pre Intel Mac. ... sorry, can't get over it, looks like I have to call my Dad over my cellphone again (rack up the bills).

An i for an eye, an Apple for an Android. It is not very often that I switch cellphones. For one, the transition is really pain in the ... like a bleeding hemorrhoid. Like, transferring contacts and messages, tinkering with settings and customizations that don't work (because you didn't read the manual), and stressing over it, and finally having them work well altogether again.

Ever since the cellphone and the PDA was commercially available, it was always my dream to have them both in one device. I used to have an Ericsson R320 and an Palm IIIc on my pocket. These are the 2 most important stuff I never left home without. I used to browse with my IIIc using a browser named Blazer over IR on my GPRS enabled R320, or when I needed quick internet, I would just use my phone to browse WAP websites. I used to get obsessed with it, that my phone bill skyrocketed. I also did some WAP publishing experiment myself.

After a year, I had read in some cellphone rumor site, that Sony and Ericsson will be working together with some phones, and one of them is the soon to be released Sony Ericsson P800. This was a dream for me, as I was looking for the perfect union of phones and PDAs. Knowing that this will be a reality, I immediately started saving up for it, and when it got released in December, it was the perfect gift that I could give myself. After selling my IIIc and my R320, and a little savings I would become one of the first few owners of this phone.

I would use this phone for some years, new upgrades will be available soon after, like the P900, P910 and the P1. But I wasn't lured to buy them, sure they are gorgeous phones but I was waiting for something more different, something more unique. I was gunning for the iPhone, it was already in the rumors mills, but nobody really was sure how and what it looked like. When it was launched, I remember watching Steve Jobs in awe as he presented Apple's newest toy. People lined up for it, I didn't, I bought it from a black market store. Yep it was expensive, but still I was one of the few who bought it and fully took advantage of what it can do. For the first time, I was able to browse whole web pages, not WAP site. I was very happy with it. I've set up my emails, and installed some applications from the web. Soon after, I found myself as an iPhone guru, people who bought the phone later would always ask me questions about their phones. When my brother came, he had the Palm Treo with him, I wasn't that impressed with the phone, and I guess he wasn't also after he saw my phone. He later purchased an iPod touch, it was good since, the Treo didn't do websites as well as the Apple counterpart. Soon after 2 generations iPhone passed, and I wasn't lured to buy them, even though it had 3G then later, had a faster processor (3GS). I felt it was just a minor upgrade, it wasn't enough for me to give Apple my much earned money. I was happy with my phone, as I have Wifi at home and in the office, so really, I didn't need 3G.

I had my iPhone for about 3 years now, I was one of the ones lucky enough to have the first iPhone. For all those years my phone served its purpose well. Make calls,send SMS, check my email and browse the net. I was also able to tinker with it for a long time, I was able to Jailbreak it, updated it, Jailbreak it again and swore never to update it again. But spending those sleepless nights downloading firmwares and breaking it was worth having the much coveted "copy and paste". And I must admit, that every time I upgrade the OS, it give my phone an new lease of life, and making it indispensable for a while. It felt like using an new phone, without the 3G or the faster processor. But now my iPhone is now stuck with OS 3.2, as the new iPhone 4 was unveiled, I realized that my phone was already aging. No more further updates will be available for the 2G model, but I'm not alone, 3G users are stuck with it as well.

And so it came to me that I needed to update.

This time it is different, many things have changed. I am a dad now, so gadgets just became second on the list of things to buy. Apple may be the game changer, but I am a changed man. Being practical is the priority now. And I still feel that Apple iPhone 4 wasn't worth drooling over, I feel it's just an iPhone 3.5Gs, placed in a glass casing (which needed bumpers for cushion and for the antenna issue) and runs a slightly upgraded version of iOS (the new name for iPhone OS).

Considering this, I decided to keep my iPhone a while longer. Because I didn't need a retina display, I needed a larger display to have full web pages load better. I'm fine with seeing pixels, I had been working with them for years now. iPad was the most logical choice to buy next, but practicality and another thing struck me.

Apple's iPad sure looks great, but its too darn costly, its an expensive way of watching movies and browsing the net in your hand. That was one reason I didn't buy it, the other thing that struck me was, there are alternatives that run other OSes.

Steve Jobs once said, that "it is in the software", and the iPhone is all about software. That made me thinking, sure the my old P800 looked great, but the P900 looked better, the iPhone 2G was good, but the 3Gs looked better, what made me switch was "software", looks wasn't really enough to persuade me to junk my old device.

And so I decided to take a leap from Apple iOS to Google Android OS. I will need to decide on which device to buy, here's a hint : "practicality".

Gizmanila, now has a new look and feel. The site now has a cleaner layout, that is easy to navigate and read. These changes has been made to make way for the next generation devices that will browse the site.

Mobile computing has been on the rise in the past months, with the launch of iPhone, the iPod touch, iPad and now a slew of Android powered devices. Truly this era has been all about mobility these days. We opted deviate from the mobile version as we think that this is just a watered down version of the website. We feel that mobile users still want the "full" experience, but access it quicker and clearer. This is why we decided to "lighten" our website, by reducing the unnecessary graphics in the background, and making the website into just 2 columns for easier zooming for mobile phone users.

The Internet’s most popular encyclopedia, WIkipedia gets $2 million donation via WIkimedia Foundation, the non-profit group that oversees the seven year old volunteer-driven reference tool. Google, Inc., known as the most profitable company in the Internet, announced yesterday its support by matching the $2 million donation of Ebay six months ago.

Wikipedia is an advertising-free website that gets its revenue from donations and contributions from its readers and sponsors. Google in its statement through co-founder Sergey Brin, acclaims Wikipedia as “one of the greatest triumphs of the Internet”.

Alright kids, the iPad is official. So I'll just get right to it. Here's the easy to swallow facts, divided into, the Good and the Not So Good and the Specs of this device.

First up is the Good :

The Device

- If you've used an iPod Touch or iPhone, then surely you'll be familiar with the iPad's interface.

- The screen is great, a 1020x 768 pixel resolution. This gives you a wider viewing area for reading books and webpages.

- The processor feels super fast, no scroll lagging, apps launch is fast, it was breezy and more responsive.

- New apps will be developed to maximize the large viewing area and the fast processor.

- Made with glass and aluminum, much like the first gen iPhone, but with tapered edges like the Macbook Air.

- 10hrs. Battery life

The Apps

- With fast processor comes complex and more functional apps.

- An example is iWorks for the iPad, it is nearly as functional as the desktop version.

- Keyboard looks great, and keys are as big as a typical apple keyboard.

- Visual presentation of almost all embedded functions look great, together with the multi touch functionality of the screen.

- Some examples are the new Calendar, Phonebook, Map, Photos and the new iBook app

- Legacy iPhone/iPod Touch app run on this device, meaning you don't need to buy previously purchased apps.

- The iPhone/iPod Touch app runs seamlessly, and can be used with the original size or the larger full screen version.

The Bad :

- Slightly heavy on the hand for a e-book reader.

- No multi tasking, meaning no application can be run on the background.

We're at it again, news about the new Apple product has hit the news mills again. Several names for the product also sprouted tech blogs everywhere, as iPad, iSlate or iTablet. A recent interview with Mc Graw-Hills' CEO Terry Mc Graw over CNBC, he admitted that they are working with Apple for quite some time for e-book contents on the upcoming iPhone OS based tablet. Recent posts from engadget shows a supposed "leaked" image of this upcoming product, this time it looks very real, than the other photoshopped ones.

One thing's for sure, we'll get to see the real one tomorrow 10 a.m. PT, hope to see Steve Jobs deliver this personally.

And now the much talked about photos of the tablet which appears to be enclosed with a leather like casing to conceal the actual appearance of the product.

Would Steve Ballmer sign a Macbook?

Yes, he did while visiting Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. He was approached by a student and ask him to sign his laptop, that was apparently a Macbook Pro. Steve, eliciting laughs from other students signed his name and scribbled "Need a new one?" on top of his signature.

Shoot Like a Pro Using iPhone

Chase Jarvis a professional photographer take us deeper to the core of real photography. Many of us don't always walk around with out high end SLRs, but most of us carry phones. In his case he has an iPhone which he uses to shoot stunning pictures of everyday events. With just a 2 megapixel point and shoot camera loaded with his customized iPhone app the Best Camera, it allows him to put multiple filters for that near SLR effects to the shots, and send it over directly to Facebook, Flickr or his email.

For him the best camera is the one you have on you, because capturing the moment is what's important.

Lenovo U1 Hybrid Tablet is a Megazord

CES has showcased lots of great stuff coming this 2010. One of them is the Lenovo U1 Hybrid Laptop / Slate. Their take on the tablet is totally different from the previous tablets in production. The U1 features a detachable screen as opposed to other manufacturers with rotating screen. Looks like somebody from the RND department is watching Power Rangers a little longer that he should.

The Hybrid laptop features 2 OSes, Windows 7 and Skylight OS. As a laptop you will be able to use it as a normal laptop and use Windows 7. Once detached from the body, the OS switches to Skylight OS, a Lenovo customized OS based on Linux. It would take about 3 seconds for the switch, not bad for switching hardwares as well. As a laptop it will maximize CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) Processor, while the slate will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Chip (similar to Google's Nexus One). Set to be released this April, final specs will be available by then.

The demo Megazord, um I mean laptop comes in a glossy red finish. So its Lenovo U1 Red locked in, gooooo Lenovo! Right!

Google's Nexus One Gets Official

Yesterday (January 5, 2010) Google launch the much talked about iPhone rival, the Nexus One. The phone sports the Android OS 2.1, not yet found on any Android based phone. It runs on a 1 Ghz Snapdragon CPU by Qualcomm, 512MB of RAM and ROM, has a 3.7 inch AMOLED captive touchscreen display, with 480x800 pixel display, sadly multi touch is not available on this phone.

Just like the iPhone it runs on 3G but only supports T-Mobile's 3G in the US as it only runs on UMTS Band 1/4 and 8 (2100/AWS/900) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz), meaning you may be able to run the phone on other networks but won't have access to their 3G (sorry AT&T). It will soon be available to Verizon Wireless subscribers (sorry again AT&T). More features include Wi-Fi 802.11N, digital compass, GPS, stereo bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, a camera with LED flash, and a microSD card slot, comes with a 4GB microSD card and is expandable up to 32GB of storage. It's got 1400mAH batteries, that promises 5 hrs of browsing and 7 hrs of talk time.

The coming killer iPhone app will be Flash 10.1 running on the browser. Google and Adobe is already working together in bringing Flash 10.1 to the Nexus One, something lacking on the iPhone.

Handbrake for Mac now Supports 64bit

Handbrake, recently updated their application to 0.9.4, and brings 64bit support for Macintosh users. The new release also includes old releases to legacy systems such as 32 bit OS X 10.5 Intel and Power PC Processors.

The Windows version was also updated together with Windows 7 support and the older Vista and XP systems.

Syncing Nokia 2730 Classic

I just got a new Nokia 2730 Classic the other day from Globe Telecoms. While tinkering with it I found 1 very big problem. It didn't sync with my Macbook, iSync doesn't work. I was hoping that I can cut the time copying contacts and calendar entries from my old iPhone to this new phone, and have the two phones in sync. I did some searching the web but the Nokia website says that iSync currently isn't supporting the 2730 Classic model. So, I did some googling, and came across this plugin. The website noted that the product was only tested on a Mac OS X Snow Leopard version (ver. 10.6), I'm running Leopard (ver. 10.5) but everything worked fine. Here's how I did it.

First is download the installer [2730-v1.pkg.zip]
Run the downloaded installer, and follow the instructions
If you are already running iSync when you did this, you need to restart iSync and relaunch it.
iSync will be searching for the device, make sure both bluetooth devices are on (the phone and your Mac)
It should successfully detect the phone, and display an image of the phone
There are some additional options when you click the phone image (for advanced selection)
Then press Sync Devices, everything should work without a glitch.
