What to expect at Apple's WWDC next week

iOS 6
iOS is one of the big reasons WWDC has become a hard ticket to nab by developers. The software, which powers the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and even Apple TV, is also home to the App Store where developers can sell apps. It's typically given a big update once a year, and this year is no different.

As for what to expect, the talk of the town has been an overhauled mapping application. Before your eyes glaze over, the word on that has been that there will be 3D features similar to the ones Google demoed earlier this week.
Perhaps a more exciting iOS 6 rumor is that it will add Siri -- at least for iPad users. A report from 9to5Mac last week made that claim, suggesting Apple was keen on adding the voice assistant software, which so far has been an iPhone 4S exclusive, for owners of Apple's latest tablet.
Other things that could show up are integration with Facebook (something we've heard before), and a handful of small tweaks to system apps like Safari and e-mail, all based on changes found in Mountain Lion.
When to expect all this is another matter. Given Apple's track record, it's safe to say you won't be able to get it Monday, that is unless you're a developer. Apple tends to run through several beta versions of the software with developers ahead of a public release. There's a good reason for that too: the software often has bugs and last-minute features that need ironing out.
Mountain Lion price, release date
Apple's next big cat was let out of the bag in February as part of an announcement that took most developers by surprise. Developers have had the last four months or so to ready their apps for the new features, some of which require selling through Apple's Mac App Store.

As a quick recap, Mountain Lion brings a handful of iOS features to Macs, including the aforementioned notes and reminders. It also adds a few other things, like Twitter integration and Apple's Game Center and iMessage services. There's also a new security feature called Gatekeeper, designed to fend off malware by controlling what applications can and cannot be installed.
Expect Apple to give Mountain Lion a price and a release date. For Lion last year, that was $34.99 and an early July arrival.
Updated Macs
Much of Apple's Mac lineup has become a bit long in the tooth, something that's expected to change next week. An alleged parts list that leaked earlier this week suggests Apple's MacBook Pro and Air lines are getting updates, along with the iMac and Mac Pro. Those latter two machines are long overdue for new bits; Apple hasn't updated the iMac since last May, while the Mac Pro has been left untouched since July 2010.
As for what to expect in the way of newness, an obvious addition is Intel's new batch of processors, code-named Ivy Bridge. Those chips began showing up in computers last month, and are not just faster but pack an extra graphics punch as well.

But the real story is in real hardware changes. Apple has long been rumored to be working on MacBook Pros that ditch the optical drive in favor of size. That might sound a lot like the MacBook Air line, but the difference here is that the machines would still have the bevy of ports and plugs, and traditional hard drive storage.
The other rumored change is a move to so-called "Retina Displays" on Macs, beginning with the 15-inch notebook. This is the kind of screen where the pixels are so tightly packed you can't see them when using the product. That feature first cropped up on the iPhone, and has since migrated over to the iPod Touch and iPad. According to one analyst CNET spoke with last month, those screens are already floating around the supply chain.
Evidence of both these things coming to Apple's notebooks -- at least the 15-inch model -- cropped up earlier this week in some leaked box shots (1, 2), which have not been confirmed. One other thing on that list was USB 3.0, an addition that makes a lot of sense given that the speedier connection is supported out of the gate with Intel's latest chips.

iCloud additions
Apple demoed iCloud for the first time at last year's show, releasing it to the public about four months later. The company is expected to add a few new features to the service's Web site, mainly notes and reminders. Both features appeared in a "beta" and "dev" version of iCloud.com last month, but not on the service's public-facing site. Why those apps would be there is not rocket science: notes and reminders are headed to the Mac with Mountain Lion.
Worth noting is that Apple's MobileMe site and service shut down at the end of the month. This has been in the cards since iCloud -- which is free -- replaced the $99 a year subscription service.

150 Jobs boost for Scottish computer games industry

Scotland's computer games industry has been given a boost with the news that 150 jobs are to be created by a games company opening a new office in Dundee.

Outplay Entertainment will produce games for smartphones, social networks and other internet platforms from the city.

The move will help fill the chasm left by Realtime Worlds, the Dundee-based computer games firm which collapsed last year at a cost of 200 jobs.

First Minister Alex Salmond said the move "reinforces Scotland's reputation as an attractive and competitive location for the future of the video games market".

Outplay Entertainment has been founded by Scottish brothers Douglas and Richard Hare, who have more than 25 years of experience in the videogames industry in America.

Douglas Hare said: "There are more people now playing games on different devices and in different ways than ever before, creating a huge new audience that can truly be considered global in nature.

"From the earliest days of the industry, Scotland has built a reputation for creativity, inspiration and innovation, with the right skills, the right people and the right support - all in the right place."

1. Can I switch over from CDMA service to GSM and vice versa ?

Yes .You can flexibly switch over from CDMA to GSM and vice versa. But you have to change the handset, because the technologies are different.

2. I am an Airtel customer of Delhi, Can I switch over to the Idea service of Chennai?

No- Presently Mobile Number Portability is available within the circle only.

3. Is there any Fee for MNP?

Yes- The new service provider will charge a fee (Port in Fee) for MNP. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has fixed a ceiling amount of Rs. 19/- for this. BSNL say that they will not collect the port in fee from the customers those who switch over to BSNL.

4. Is there any applying criteria for availing MNP facility ?

Yes.

If you are post -paid customer there should not be any dues with your existing service provider. For pre-paid customers the credit balance will not be carry forwarded.
You can switch over to a new service provider only after 90 days stay with the existing service provider.
You have to wait minimum 90 days for second number porting. This is to prevent the misuse of this facility and prevent frequent switching.

5. I have changed my mind after submitting the application- Can I go back ?

Yes- You can withdraw the application within 24 hrs of submission. However the Port in fee will not be refunded.

After the application submission, it will take maximum four days. In J&K and North eastern states it is within 12 days.

7. Is there any downtime while porting the numbers ?

Yes- There will be a down time of approximately 2 hrs while porting the numbers. During this period you may not be able to use the number. Both incoming and outgoing services will be interrupted. The porting will be carried out between the mid night and morning 5 O clock, so the two hours outage may not affect considerably affect the subscribers.

The following procedure to be carried out for opting a new mobile service provider under MNP

Send an SMS (Port your mobile number) to 1900. Then you will get a reply SMS with a Unique Porting Code (UPC).
Submit an application to the service provider where you want to shift with this UPC in a prescribed format (Remember the UPC will be valid only for few days).
Your application will be processed by the new service provider and you will get an application receipt confirmation and the details of porting date.
Once the porting is completed, confirmation message will be received.

Who will win the game?

TRAI estimates around 10% of mobile subscribers may change their service providers in the first year after the implementation. During the subsequent years this figure will be considerably reduced because the service providers will be compelled to give good quality of service.

Most of the CDMA mobile subscribers are waiting for MNP to opt a suitable GSM service. The leading CDMA service providers in India- Reliance and Tata know this fact very well. Both these players are providing GSM services also. Main reason for shifting from CDMA to GSM is the non availability of good CDMA handsets. GSM handset industry is really booming and attractive featurefull GSM handsets and Smart phones are available in market. Here CDMA fails. Apple Introduces iPod Touch 4 (Fourth Generation)

Apple iPod Touch since 2007 has been the best PMP in the market for music, web or gaming. The only thing really to say about the fourth-generation model is more awesome, yet still not quite a match for the capabilities of the iPhone 4.

The pricing is the same at the high end, with a 32GB model going for $299, and a 64GB version for $399. The 8GB entry model is $229, which is pricier than the $199 8GB version they kept around last year, but has the advantage of sharing all the same specs as other expensive models.

As far as design goes, the fourth-generation model is noticeably lighter and thinner than previous generations but still maintains a sturdy feel with curved, chromed steel backing.
The curve is a little less pronounced than the second- and third-generation models, allowing it to lay flat without wobbling, but it still maintains a slimmer taper at the edges than the first-generation version. The volume rocker is now split into two separate buttons, however, the profile of the buttons is the same as before. The screen lock button is still at the top, though located on the right as opposed to the left side.. The black antenna window on the back is gone. Headphone and dock connections are on the bottom where they've always been, only now they're joined by small speaker grille slit on the left side of the dock connection.

The news about the new Touch is the addition of two video cameras--one facing the user and one facing out. The front-facing camera is meant for use with Apple's Facetime video chat app (first unveiled with iPhone 4), as well as any supported third-party apps. With Facetime on the Touch, users can place or receive video calls to both iPhones or other iPod Touch, using an e-mail address, as opposed to a phone number.. The feature can be used with a plug-in headset (not included) or simply with the integrated speaker and microphone. Touch can be owned for as little as $229, & Facetime on the iPod Touch is a unique and noteworthy feature making it value of money.

The rear-facing camera on Touch is capable of capturing still images and video up to 720p. It is not, however, identical to the camera on the iPhone 4. It uses a different sensor and there's no flash. It's also incapable of working with the new HDR camera feature being rolled out for the iPhone. Still, it's a welcome addition and opens the door to many more apps and uses.

Under the hood, you have a ton of features carried over from iPhone 4. The processor is the same A4 chip as the iPhone. There's an integrated gyroscope now for more fine-grain gaming control. The Wi-Fi antenna now supports 802.11n at 2.4GHz. And last, but not least, the LCD is the same 3.5-inch "retina" display used on the iPhone 4, sporting a 960 by 640 resolution.

Also Apple's new 99-cent HD TV rentals, which are compatible with the Touch.

Apple Introduces iTunes 10 for MAC and Windows

Apple had their media event today and there were plenty of new launches.

Apple iTunes 10 is now available and it comes loaded with an integrated socialnetworking platform named Ping.

Ping is largely aimed at the audience that is a heavy user of Apple iTunes. It is also aimed at music lovers.

People can sign up, then find friends, acquaintances and public figures to "follow." As with Facebook and Twitter, Ping will deliver a stream of updates, showing friends' iTunes purchases and other information. Ping will also generate a personalized top-10 music chart based on what friends buy or listen to.

Apple says Ping is an optional service; people can choose to keep their music purchases and other iTunes actions private.

Ping doesn't have to rival Facebook or Twitter in popularity to be a success, Forrester analyst James McQuivey said. He said Ping just needs to help Apple sell a few more songs.

The social feature is the first obvious sign that Apple is integrating technology from the music startup Lala.com, which it bought last year.

Lala also gave members a peek at what music friends were playing. And it had developed — but never introduced — an iPhone app that would have allowed users unlimited streaming of songs for 10 cents each.This is pretty huge considering Apple has a ready user base of more than 100 million users who use Apple iTunes actively to manage music on their iPods.

Apple, however, gave no indication Wednesday that it might be working on a Lala-inspired streaming music service, which might let people access their vast iTunes music libraries remotely instead of having to download and store them individually.

Other companies are set to benefit from Ping, including Live Nation Entertainment Inc., which powers the concert listings of the new Ping music discovery tool. CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement he was "thrilled" to take part in the plan, which he said will help sell tickets through LiveNation.com and Ticketmaster.com.

Apple iTunes incidentally also get a brand new logo. The company said that because CDs have become so irrelevant today, they decided to get rid of the previous logo that featured one.

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 hands on First Look Review

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is launching in few months. So here is the first look preview at the new OS.

Looks

The UI on this phone also known as Metro UI, Zune or Xbox Live.
Windows Phone 7 on homepage uses tiles, instead of application icons. This makes it look different from Apple iOS and Google Android.

Tiles offer several advantages. First off, there is a great deal of flexibility about what's on a tile. For example, the address book tile has pictures of your friends on it, not just an icon just like a thumbnail view in Windows.
Also, the tiles can be different sizes, so more important ones are easier to see.
Tiles will be used to give the user some quick status updates. For example, the email tiles shows how many unread messages are waiting. Developers will have a certain amount of control about what appears on the tiles for their apps.
Unlike the Android OS, there are no homescreen widgets, and there is only one home screen, though you can make this as long as you like by adding as many tiles as you want.
You probably won't want to add more than a few, though, as the homescreen is really about giving you quick access to your favorite software, people, and music. A small arrow to one side gives you access to a complete list of the apps installed on the device, so you have easy access to everything.

PERFORMANCE
Windows Phone 7's performance was on par on the prototype device I was using. Everything was lightening fast.
But there's something you need to keep in mind: Windows Phone 7 is not a multitasking operating system. When you switch away from an app, it closes itself. This is probably one of the reasons why the performance is so good, but it's definitely a tradeoff.
A definite drawback is that Microsoft left support Cut & Paste out of this OS.
Software
I tried out the Microsoft Office apps, and was quite pleased. Admittedly, I was just opening the small demo files for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, but they opened in a flash.
I also used the web browser, and was equally pleased. I went to the Tips & Ticks with SMS Fun page, and the Windows Phone 7 browser correctly handled the scrolling frame that lists recent news articles.
The address book -- called People -- stores the information you'd expect, plus it ties into Facebook and other social networking services. You can see more than just a single recent FB post from your friend, you can get all the recent ones, and even post replies, raising the question on whether you need a stand-alone app for this service.
One thing you need to get used to with the People app -- as well as the Games, Pictures, Office, and Music+Video ones -- is that what you're seeing is just a portion of a larger screen. For example, the image to the left is showing the People app. If you slide the screen to one side, you'll see a list of the most recent Facebook posts. If you slide it the other, you'll see images of people you've contacted recently.
I didn't get a chance to test out all the bundled software -- there wasn't enough time. But i was pleased with what I saw.
Hardware
Some of you are probably curious about the smartphone I saw running Windows Phone 7. I haven't mentioned it because it's not very interesting: it was the same prototype unit that Microsoft has been demoing this operating system on since this new OS was first unveiled.
Still, Microsoft is being cautious, and I was not allowed to take any pictures.
But we already know quite a bit about what all the devices are going to be like, as Microsoft has set some fairly stringent hardware requirements for its new operating system.
All smartphones running Windows Phone 7 will have to have a WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi, at least a 5 megapixel camera with flash, a GPS receiver, and 8 GB of storage and 256 MB of RAM or more. The feature list also must include an accelerometer, compass, proximity sensor, and an FM radio.

Final Thoughts
Based on my short amount of time testing out Windows Phone 7, I can tell you I like what I see. It's both functional and good looking, and the speed is more than acceptable.
It looks like Microsoft is going to offer a decent platform, but the real question is going to be whether it will get the support from other companies it needs. Even the best mobile operating system is going to bomb without a large collection of third-party developers. This group is going to have to write new applications for the platform, as ones written for Windows Mobile aren't compatible.
Only if the Windows Phone 7 software store is quickly populated with apps then only this OS will become a serious competitor for the Android and iOS.

Humanity, loss, race, friendship, acceptance - heavy topics for any medium, and especially difficult for videogames. After finishing Minerva's Den, the final piece of DLC for 2K Marin's BioShock 2, these are the things I'm contemplating regardless.

If you read my preview last week for Minerva's Den, you'll know that a) this is new, singleplayer DLC for BioShock 2 that takes place in the computing heart of Rapture, and b) that I was sort of indifferent to BioShock 2 - I didn't hate it by any means, but it just sort of existed. For all intents and purposes though, Minerva's Den is a better experience than its parent game. 2K Marin has used BioShock 2 as a platform to deliver a final, moving, personal story set in the underwater city.

Minerva's Den essentially starts you from zero and kits you out to full Big Daddy bad-ass. From gene tonics to Plasmids to upgraded weapons, most of what you'll remember acquiring in BioShock 2 proper is present and yours within the DLC's three lengthy chapters. This creates a constant sense of reward and discovery in BioShock 2, and a subtle rearranging of the order in which you acquire weapons and powers changes the way you're likely to play the game. New strategies are required when all you have is telekinesis, the new Ion Lance laser weapon, and some mini-turrets, and there's a Big Daddy over there with a Little Sister that you need.

You've never been so desperate for Adam as you will be in Minerva's Den - it's an arms race from start to finish against Splicers that are much more aggressive than what you've seen before, from Leadhead Splicers who always seem to have security bots of the laser, lightning, or rocket-packing variety, or Brutish Splicers who fling flames at will and more. In turn, you'll be relying more than ever on smart use of Rapture's environments to manage chokepoints and use hazards to help you do your work. There's also a much bigger emphasis on hacking security bots, evident from nearly ubiquitous cameras, turrets, and hack darts. You'll want a security bot posse with you as much as possible, which makes losing them during big fights (like with the new Lancer Big Daddies) feel like that much more of a consequence. Minerva's Den aims to break your heart.

But where Minerva's Den succeeds the most is in the story of The Thinker and its "father," Charles Milton Porter. Invited to Rapture by Andrew Ryan, Porter created the primitive but evolving AI that maintains Rapture's automated systems and dubbed it "The Thinker," but, after a betrayal by his partner Reed Wahl, Porter fell out of favor with Ryan and all hell broke loose. As subject "Sigma," an Alpha series Big Daddy, you'll work with Porter in an effort to take The Thinker back and escape from Rapture. Full of new audio logs and communiques from some new and familiar faces, mysteries about The Thinker and the nature of Porter's arrival and time in Rapture surface.

Mafia Wars promises "Review oa better user experiea better user experience's den:

Mafia Wars players have been extremely vocal about the game's bugs and general sluggishness. So it seems very brave for Zynga reps to say that a better user experience is on its way in the most recent post on the official Mafia Wars blog:

"Our team has fixed a whole lot of bugs over the past 2 days. Some of these issues include fixing cross-promotional items that players weren't receiving, replacing wonky error messages and stopping players from awarding themselves extra skill points when they complete jobs."

OK, so we're glad that some bugs have been fixed. Some is better than none. Perhaps more telling are the seemingly endless comments after the post, brimming with suggestions on other things that need to be fixed or changed in the game, including "overloaded' servers, complaints about players using 'snag' cheat apps, no more challenge missions and allow clans/all players to share loot... to name a few.

The post ends by saying "Our work is far from over." Seems like a lot of fed-up virtual mobsters will agree with that.

Apple's decade-long run of iPod-, iPhone-, and iPad-fueled prosperity has featured only one notable dud. Introduced in 2006, Apple TV is a set-top box used to play movies and other digital fare on a TV via iTunes on a Mac or PC. Apple has sold fewer than 3 million of them, estimates Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu. The company sold that many iPads in three months.

And yet, at a Sept. 1 event in San Francisco, Steve Jobs announced that Apple is bringing out a less-than-revolutionary upgrade. The new Apple TV looks different—it's black, not white, and at 3.9 inches square, is 75 percent smaller than the old one—and you now rent rather than buy movies and TV shows. (The price has also fallen, from $229 to $99.) Otherwise, its function is mostly unchanged. We have 3 steps to avoid your phone to take a power nap, with these tips you might be able to increase the battery backup of your phone:
1. Firstly drain your phone or laptop battery completely until the device gets shutdown due to battery.
2. Now simply charge your battery for a fixed time according to the manuals provided with it at the time of purchase.
3. Repeat the step 1 and step 2 for about 2 times a day fro 3-4 days.
If you really do the steps given above you will noticeably see a change in the backup time of your battery of phone or you can also apply these steps to improve battery performance of your laptop.

How to spy a remote pc using RATS ???

Spying on Remote PC can be done in many ways....but today we are going to see how it can be done using RATS(Remote Administration Tools).This tutorial is a general one which can be followed for installing server of all types of RATS.Only thing that you have to notice are the terms associated and data that are to be filled.

This is a Black Hat Tutorial so I would suggest my readers to go through the DISCLAIMER before reading the tutorial.

For carrying out this attack you will need......

a)A Remote Administration Tool (Here i will be using Spy Net2.7Beta)

b)A FTP service and a host under No-Ip.com (How to?....Read here )

So lets start......

1.First download the RAT,here i will use Spy Net 2.7Beta.
Purposefully I have not given the download link,you can take the help of our best friend.... "Google"

2.Run it and click the "START BUTTON"select your suitable language as shown in the image below.

3.Then click on "CREATE SERVER " and give a suitable name to it as shown in the image below.

4.After step 3. a user with the desired name has been created,now select that and click on "FORWARD"as shown in the image below.

5.Now you will be guided to the server installation process,so fill in the details as shown in the image below...inorder to know how to fill read this.

6.After that hop up to the next tab and fill that excatly as show in the image below,i have chosen "svchost.exe" as these are found in multiple in MS boxes..... lol.

7.The next tab is the message...which means if you enable this then that message will pop-up when the server is run on the victim's computer,here I am not using it.

8.Then open up the keylogger tab and fillup as shown below but in step 2. fill as said described here.

9.Now hop up to "Create server" tab and fill as shown in the image below.

10.Now since the server is ready so make it FUD(Fully UnDetectable) by using crypter and you may bind it to some other file using a binder and scan it with novirusthanks.org(do not click on distribute option.)This part will be covered in detail my later post.
