Nokia Lumia 720 Review

2013-04-26T07:39:00.004-07:00

This week Nokia has topped the chart with its power packed windows enabled

smartphone Nokia Lumia 720. And no wonder, Nokia has reported a 27% growth in revenue in the last quarter

Below are the customer reviews of Nokia Lumia 720 listed on multiple sites.

- - - - - - - - - - Review 1 - - - - - - - - - -

10 things i love about the Nokia Lumia 720

1. Looks: I am more of a what's inside sort of a person so I see what the smartphone has as its internals first thing but if you look at the device, it is quite good looking as well. It looks like a smaller Lumia 920 and that is surely a good thing for the smartphone. It feels quite robust as well.

2. Screen: The smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch display with 800x480 resolution. The screen looks nothing short of amazing that is because every pixel has 3 sub-pixels ( the argument of it having only 217 ppi is lame ) The clearblack screen improves sunlight legibility. Its got beautiful viewing angles as well. You can use it with one hand and can work your thumb to the edges of the screen easily. The size is ideal.

3. Senstivity: The smartphone works with nails and gloves and Nokia is making a big deal about it and they should too because the smartphone has a sensitivity that not even flagships from some of the mobile giants have.

4. Gorilla Glass 2: The smartphone's display is protected by Gorilla Glass 2 which makes it resistant to scratches and other damages. And you do not usually see Gorilla Glass 2 on smartphones which have been built on budget.

5. Camera: The Nokia Lumia 720 comes with a 6.7-megapixel camera which sounds a bit different but in terms of performance, it is simply class apart. It has a 1/3.4 inch sensor and is coupled with a LED flash as well. A two-stage shutter which allows photo shooting like a pro: with the first press the camera focusses, with the second it shoots. The f/1.9 arpeture is just awesome which gives best low light imaging just like the lumia 920. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avS-zNE6bW8

This puts it a notch above some of the best 5 megapixel cameras or as a matter of fact even some 8MP cameras. Check this poor Iphone 5 facing the heat from lumia 720 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc9uPpTspVo

Its also equipped with a HD 1.3 MP wide angle secondary camera for HD video calls/skype.

6. Thickness: The device is just 9 mm thick which makes it sleek and stylish. Its ergonomically designed and feels sturdy when you hold. Check out its thickness and beautiful viewing angles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IjIJPpa3Sw
( sony xperia z hope your watching the viewing angles here )

7. Battery: One of the strongest points of the Nokia Lumia 720 is its battery life. It has a massive 2,000 mAH battery unit which is lithium polymer and not lithium-ion. Li-pol batteries last way longer than Li-Ion.

8. Expandable memory: The Nokia Lumia 720 has an inbuilt memory of 8 GB but the sweet part of the deal is the 64 GB expandable memory option which is not present on any of the mid range smartphones currently on sale. You get 7 Gb of free skydrive space as well.

9. Nokia exclusive applications: Nokia is providing some really useful applications for its Lumia range of devices which gives them the edge over the rest. Other than that you also get the entire miscrosoft office in your palm - word, PDF, powepoint, excel. Very recently nokia and bigflix have announced a tie up where bigflix will provide the lumia 720 users a free 3 month movies subscription. All this makes the deal sweet.

10. Price: Its priced around Rs 17000 at your local store which makes the phone a fantastic deal considering all its great features and specs. I wonder why most products online are priced more where instead it should be the opposite.

P.s - Unlike the past, windows phone 7 --> windows 7.5 (mango) --> windows 7.8 and next thing it was the end of the road for Windows OS 7 when windows phone 8 was launched, all that is about to change. Microsoft has announced that Windows phone 8 devices will now be upgraded to its next platform windows 9 or windows blue whatever they name it. So, your practically buying the next windows 9 device as well when you buy a nokia lumia 720 which to me is pretty awesome!

The only Con:
1. RAM - Its like you own a long beautiful BMW sedan with all top notch luxurious interiors, the fine italian leather seats and more but then to your surprise you find out it has a maruti 800 engine inside lol. If only it had a 1gb ram i would have picked it over the lumia 920. The app loading time might be just a little slow and few future apps/games requiring 1 gb of ram could not be compatible. But not to worry, there are ample apps that will run smooth on its 512mb ram.

You got to give it to nokia, I'm going with 4.5 stars. If you are looking for a mid-range device, your search stops here at Nokia Lumia 720!

I am in love

Ever since I bought the new Nokia Lumia 720 I think I have fallen in love. Be it the beautiful and classy unibody design of my smartphone, or its set of awesome features; they set my pulse racing every time. The 4.3-inch IPS ClearBlack display of my Lumia 720 is made from sculpted glass and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. This not just makes it strong and resistant to scratches, but also helps it render graphics, images and videos in pristine detail. The screen is so sensitive, that I need to just brush my fingers against it for an instant response. My Nokia Lumia 720 comes with a powerful 6.7 MP rear camera that comes with the enhanced Smart Shoot digital lens, that not just helps me compose a perfect shot, but also lets me erase unwanted elements from my snap. The front wide-angle HD camera is great for clicking self-portraits or guided group snaps and then editing them with the Glam Me app. I can keep a tab on all my email accounts, stay in touch with my pals and keep abreast of my work; all at one go, thanks to my Nokia Lumia 720.

Great Buy

Except for the SAR value of this product, which itself is very much less then the limit but comparatively more then other devices, all the features like screen, design and most importantly, the camera of this device is the best feature of this device.
Capturing pics in the dark feature of this phone is only unable to beat the lumia 920 phone. And is better then other higher megapixel phone devices like galaxy note 2, xperia z and many others.
If you have a budget of around 20k, this is the best thing you can get.

Best Lumia Ever

Lumia 920 with pure view, great phone but too costly, Lumia 820 not as great as 920 no pure view on it, still 24000 bucks!! Lumia 620 thickest phone and with lowest battery capacity 1300mAh only, no carl zeiss tessar lens, only 3.8" display, Ok VGA front cam, NFC is there but no wireless charging and no gorilla glass for protection!!! Lumia 520 4" display but no front cam, no Nokia clear black display, no flash, no carl zeiss lens and no gorilla glass for protection!!! But Lumia 720 has carl zeiss lens, has gorilla glass2, great camera with 1/3.6'' sensor size main cam with HD recording, has flash, has front cam with HD recording!, has wireless charging just like higher end lumia's and finally superb battery of 2000mAh which is equal to Lumia 920 but less that Lumia 820!! This is the best affordable thinnest Lumia at just 9mm thickness with almost all the features for Lumia's 920 & 820!!(except for RAM and Full HD 1080p Recording which is missing in Nokia Lumia 720 Almost all the other features are present for Just 18000 Bucks!!)

Also look out for a few cool features ofNokia Lumia 720:-
>6.1MP camera with an F/1.9 aperture, the widest on a mobile phone yet. It's similar to that of the 820 and 920 in that it's a hybrid, handling both 4:3 and 16:9 aspects relatively well. It loses only 12% resolution when switching to widescreen mode, rather than 33% like conventional sensors.
>Nokia will be offering a range of snap-on covers for Nokia Lumia 720 which will enable wireless charging!!! Great!!!
>Nokia’s recent innovation known as High Amplitude Audio Capture (HAAC), allows you to record audio in noisy locations and then reproduce the audio with minimal background noise. This is Deployed in Nokia Lumia 720.
The novelty behind the High Amplitude Audio Capture is a microphone with two different sensitivity levels for recording. Later, the dual channel combines to give a broad dynamic range that sounds clear even if the audio is recorded with lots of distortion.
Nokia Lumia HAAC recording technology can record up top 140 decibels without any audible distortion, while most of other smartphones find it hard when noise levels go beyond 110 decibels.
Drawback:-
Only drawback is the 512Mb RAM. But still all wp8 phone like HTC 8S in this same range has same amount of RAM minus the front camera minus Nokia city lens for almost the same price. RAM doesn't matter since WP8 is very light compared to android(LAGDROID lol). Also all androids (Lagdroids) in this price range are duds. Especially those fucking good for nothing Samsungs.

Once upon a time in a village, a man announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs 10. The
villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching
them..
The man bought thousands at Rs 10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.
He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and
they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms.

The offer rate increased to Rs 25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even
see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs 50!

However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the
man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs 35 and when the man returns from the city, you can
sell it to him for Rs 50.
" The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!
This is how business is done - Welcome to the 'Stock Market'

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 Review

2013-04-17T09:28:00.002-07:00

One of the most popular mobiles amongst Indian buyers - online and offline both. Rich with features, backed with superb performance and an economic price - what else could one ask for.

Below are the customer reviews of Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 listed on multiple sites.

- - - - - - - - - - Review 1 - - - - - - - - - -

I bought this phone a week back.
This one has given me an awesome experience till now.
I used to have a Galaxy Note earlier, and trust me, I feel this is faster and smoother than a Note.

I'm really flabbergasted as to how people write reviews without even using the device. Just don't go by the spec. Its screen spec might LOOK disappointing, but real time experience is not bad at all.

People have even compared this piece of art with a micromax. That itself is a ridiculous one. Someone has written that micromax has a better processor .? Dude, seriously .?
Micromax processor is a 1.2 GHz Quad Core. But it has been built on platform of a Cortex A7, which, even being a 1.2 GHz, will not be able to give a smooth experience.
Whereas, Galaxy Grand has been built on a latest platform with a 1.2 GHz, and hence, should serve the purpose more efficaciously.

And I personally would never tag myself with a Micromax, for now on that is. I have been hearing loads of complaints about the Micromax devices. They remain in the service station for more time than they remain with the customers is what I have heard too.

Its people's personal choice than. For a matter of 6k more, you get a Globally leading brand. I'd reckon, anyone and everyone to buy this phone.

And please, for future commentors, please write a review, only if you have actually used this device. Everybody knows the spec. You don't need to put redundancy here.

In love with my Galaxy Grand. :)

If Galaxy S III is out of your budget, please choose this awesome Galaxy Grand Display panel is LCD but output result normal different compare with S III, otherwise all are future is like S III.

Galaxy Grand is value for money.

Big future allocated in Galaxy Grand against value (price).

In the first look, the display is huge and it is very light to hold! From my experience, the pros are: Jellybean makes this phone function very interesting. Image clarity is good, but on zooming to maximum, the quality is not that great. Camera has a lot of effects and the front camera is also great. Generally, screen resolution is decent.. if you zoom in also, the quality is good. The sound quality is good, music output and voice calling is very pleasing. Very crisp sound on calls. As for the cons, the camera's zoom-in was a little poor and the processor makes it slow at times. Galaxy grand doesn't support usb host, no support for external pendrive.. would have been better if it could support S-pen too. The price is reasonable and I don't think there is any disappointing feature for its cost!

Had taken lot of time and comparisons before I finally made a decision to buy this phone for my wife. I had earlier booked Note II from Indiatimes but cancelled it as I didn't got the delivery on time and meanwhile Galaxy Grand launch was announced.

First Impression in Hand:
1. Looks pretty much like Note II, marginally smaller.
2. Screen / Display looks much sharper then my expectation (Though display is weak)
3. Profile is devoid of any edges, weight seemed appropriate for long use.

Advantages of Galaxy Grand:
1. 1.2 GHz Dual core + 1 GB is decent enough for most of popular gaming (Tried all versions of Angry Birds, Temple Run 2, Beach Buggy, email, FB, whatapp etc) and runs smooth with multiple applications running in parallel. There might be minor lag
2. Samsung software customizations, hardware sensors (I guess some 10+ sensors are inbuilt) do lot of magic for you and keeps you engaged (I read somewhere that features are same as Note II with trimmed hardware).
3. 5 Inch display is bright, gives you decent readeablility and mobility, I did not notice any pixelation of any form and viewing angles are ok.
4. Most IMP : Call Voice Quality very good and eliminates noice around, dialling and in call management is good.
5. Speaker output is loud, littlie bit on shrilly on high volume, Ear Phones are good but built quality is average.
6. Android JellyBeans is fast and moment you login with your GMail account you get instane access to all your content on Google Drive, Google+.

Cons:
1. Battery should have been better, Note II's 3100 Mh was the best fit. 2100 Mh drains in 4-5 hours with above average use in downloading, gaming, texting (Deducting 1 Star from the rating for same).
2. Flip Cover is looks fine but not a magnetic cover to switch off / on the display automatically when closed / open.
3. Price should have been around 17k or 18k max to compete with other lower brands and make it really pocketable (Financially :))

I would definitely recommed this phone, until someone has a tight budget, else should go for Micromax Canvas HD or Huawai Ascent.

JBL Tempo On Ear Review

2013-04-17T07:53:00.000-07:00

The JBL® brand has over 60 years of expertise engineering great sound into environments around the world. JBL Tempo On Ear headphones bring that expertise to an environment unlike any other – the human ear. One of the best performers seen in this price range.

Below are the reviews of JBL Tempo On Ear headphones listed on multiple sites.

- - - - - - - - - - Review 1 - - - - - - - - - -

Get These. Honestly!

Okay so speaking from the point of view of someone who does sound in studios, its actually not bad at all.

I bought these for my daily use for walking and all that. I use Sennheiser HD280pro and really high quality studio monitors as well. No match to those, in terms of the "true sound" JBL promises. In points, I'll give you the pros and cons of the product:

PROS:

1. Light and comfortable to wear for long periods

2. Sound does not distort at all.

3. A MUST BUY FOR BASS LOVERS, as it is really high on bass, and safer to use than the in-ears which can damage the auditory canal. The bass also sounds really tight

4. Pretty good looking, so you don't look like an idiot wearing on-ear headphones while walking. The carrying pouch is an additional brilliant thing that they've given. Keeps the headphones dust free.

5. The gold plating on the 3.5mm jack really helps with quality

6. By adjusting EQ's on your mp3 or ipod, you can get the exact sound you're looking for. Almost.

Cons:

1. If you care too much about true sound, you might find it hard to adapt to these for the first 10 minutes at least.

2. I was told that the headphones fold up a fair bit, but they just become flat and can be kept easily in the carrying case. But that isn't true at all. They become flat, and the carrying case is pretty big. So carrying them around without a bag can be a big problem.

I would say its a great thing to buy. The in-ears don't last to long, but these types always tend to last longer. If you're thinking about the price, also think about your ears. If you spend Rs 300, you'll get horrible quality which will help in ruining your ears. Always spend more on headphones and get the right pair!

- - - - - - - - - - Review 2 - - - - - - - - - -

This product has superb sound.

This headphone has superb sound clarity with style and with good bass. with this headphones on your ears you feel yourself listening to music like sitting in theater or studio because you get every detail of sound which you hear.

just one thing is little disappointing it's comfort. you feel little pressure on your ears but after wearing it for hour and half.

but all n all it's superb headphones and it's price is also good.

- - - - - - - - - - Review 3 - - - - - - - - - -

Its awesome

a very nice headphone.. it has got awesome bass

the wires are also not too thin . Its a complete package

only thing i find a little bit irritating that if you wear it for a long time..it will start hurting your ears..but still its okay..

i would recommend this headphone for sure

- - - - - - - - - - Review 4 - - - - - - - - - -

Steal for the price (and otherwise too)

The headset itself is an amazingly good one, and at this price point i cannot think of a better one. Audio quality-wise, it holds up well against pricier cans. Its comfortable and not a huge hassle to carry around. And oh- the looks are simple classy! I mean it just looks premium and not shiny plastic finished (I'm looking at you beats and skullcandy). Excellent build quality too.

Cons - Included case is a flimsy pouch that will not protect the cans from anything other than dust and mild rain. Also if like me you are coming from in-ear headphones, there is an adjusting curve before getting used to these on-ear headphones. Not really a con. And please don't expect it to sound like a sennheiser hd800, because it is not one.

I've used these for over a month now and I'm totally impressed. And I used to have decent Sony in-ears. Music has never sounded this good before on any headset I've used. Considering a buy? Go for it. I give it a best-in-price-class tag.
