Guinness World Records 2013: Spider-Man creates history

Spider-Man was added in Guinness World Records 2013 for breaking the record of the ”Most Contributions to a Greeting Card''.
The famous Super-hero got 2,707 signatures in an event
organized at New York Comic Con on the occasion of his 50th birthday on 14th October.

Marvel partnered with Hallmark to create the life size birthday card of 6 feet by 8 feet. Enthusiastic fans signed the card with their birthday wishes and became a part of creating history.

Spider-Man broke the previous world record of 1,816 contributions by TNT show ”The Closer". It had been set back in August at the conclusion celebration of the famous show.

"For 50 years, Spider-Man has proven to us all that he's nothing short of amazing. And now, by receiving the most-ever contributions to a greeting card with 2,707 Happy Birthday wishes, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is an official Guinness World Records holder too," said Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator, Mike Janela.

1.sun bear
Along with being the smallest bear species in the world, the sun bear (Ursidae Helarctos malayanus) is also one of the rarest. The sun bear's name is derived from the golden colored crescent shaped patch of fur on its chest.

It is also known as the honey bear because of its extreme fondness of honey, the dog bear because of its size, and the Malay bear for its geographical location.
Out of all species of bears, the least is known about the sun bear because they are so rare.

2.Angora Rabbit
Imagine a ball of the softest white fluffy wool you’ve ever felt, and that is what an Angora rabbit looks like! Originally from Turkey, they are some of the oldest domestic rabbits around, and are primarily bred for their soft and silky wool used to make lovely soft sweaters!

3.WHITE-FACED SAKI
The white-faced saki is a New World monkey that lives in the forests of Northern South America. They live in family groups in which both sexes care for the young. White-faced sakis have only one baby at a time and older siblings help care for the young.

4.Axolotl
It’s a salamander. Besides its looks, it’s unusual in that it stays in its larval form, like a tadpole that never matures into a frog. It never develops full lungs, retaining its gills and fins, so it lives under water. The axolotl becomes sexually mature in the larval stage.The axolotl can completely regrow a lost limb.

They are endangered in the wild because of habitat loss, but they are used in labs all over the world because of their ability to regenerate limbs and their embryos which are large and robust.

5.Yeti Crab
Kiwa hirsuta is a crustacean discovered in 2005 in the South Pacific Ocean. This decapod, which is approximately 15 cm (6 inches) long, is notable for the quantity of silky blond setae (resembling fur) covering its pereiopods (thoracic legs, including claws). Its discoverers dubbed it the "yeti lobster" or "yeti crab"

6.Aye-aye

he aye-aye was discovered by Pierre Sonnerat in 1780, it was brought to Paris by that traveller being the only one known until 1860.

The Aye-aye is a freaky combo of rodent-like teeth with a long, thin middle finger to fill the same niche as a woodpecker. Well to me it looks a whole lot like some mutated little monkey/goat mix... but that is just me. I also think it reminds me of something right out of "Lord of The Rings"... those things called orcs. Except this has big ears and fur. It is the world's largest nocturnal primate.

Joe has created 3D pavement art in the different cities of the world along with his friend late Max Lowry.

He holds the world record for creating world's longest and biggest 3D painting. He performed it back in November 2011 and was included in Guinness book of world records.

He is such a fine artist that one can hardly sort out which part is real and which is illusion in his 3D pavements creations.

Drowning involves suffocation while in water. Around 90% of drownings occur in freshwater, such as swimming pools, bath tubs and rivers, while only 10% of drownings occur in saltwater.

Drowning in freshwater is different
from drowning in saltwater.

Drowning in saltwater:
when u breathe in saltwater, high salt concentration prevents the water from crossing into lung tissues. Salt water is hypertonic to the ion concentration in lung cells, so water from bloodstream enters your lungs to compensate for the concentration gradient. Blood thickens, putting strain on circulatory system. The stress on heart can lead to cardiac arrest within 8 to 10 minutes.
By drinking water blood can be easily rehydrated. So you are well on the road of recovery if you can survive the initial experience.

Drowning in freshwater:

U can die from breathing freshwater. This is because freshwater is hypotonice compared with the fluid inside lung cells. Freshwater doesn't cross into skin cells because keratin essentially waterproofs them, but water rushes into unprotected lung cells to equalize the concentration gradient across cell membranes. This can cause massive tissue damage, so even if the water is recovered from your lungs, there is a chance u might not recover.
Fresh water is more dilute with respect to fluid inside lung cells.

When water enters cells, it swells them. Cells may burst. Lung capillaries are exposed to freshwater, water enters bloodstream. This dilutes blood. Blood cells burst (hemolysis). Elevated plasma K^+ (potassium ions) and depressed Na^+ (Sodium ions) levels may disrupt the heart's electrolytic activity causing ventricular fibrillation. Cardiac arrest occurs in as little as 2 to 3 minutes. Acute Renal Failure may also occure due to burst blood cells in kidneys.
Cardiac arrest may also occur from hypothermia..

Nick Vujicic: The Iron Man with no limbs

Nick Vujicic (born December 4, 1982) is a preacher, a motivational speaker and the director of Life Without Limbs, an organization for the physically disabled. He regularly gives speeches across subject of disability and hope.

He was born in Melbourne, Australia with the rare Tetra-amelia disorder: limbless,
missing both arms at shoulder level, and legless but with two small feet, one of which has two toes protruding from his left thigh. Initially, his parents were devastated. Vujicic was otherwise healthy. Despite the absence of limbs, he is doing surf and swimming, and playing golf and soccer.

"If I fail a hundred times, if I fail and I give up, do you think that i'm never gonna get up? NO. But, if i fail and try again, and again, and again... What I just want you to know
is that it's not the end. What matter is how you're gonna finish? Are you gonna finish strong?

The teen mastered life’s daily tasks and went on to show that he can do everything that able bodied people can do-including writing, typing, play drums, brush his teeth.

This miracle happened in the greenhouse of John Owen, from Brown hills Staffordshire, who has been gardening for 40 years, but the sight that made him stunned that day in his greenhouse
was a definite first.

When the pentioner went to check on his vegetables, he was amused to find a duck shaped tomato staring back at him.

The deformed tomato has given him plenty of laughs and has become a bit of celebrity on his street, with dozens of neighbours coming to have a look.

Mr. Owen, 70, decided to keep it as a souvenir- until it rots away.

In 2004, he became the proud owner of a pumpkin measuring 6 ft.

Duck - shaped fruits and vegetables may not be as rare as Mr. Owen thinks however...

responsible for 90% of lung cancers.

    The main culprit is cigarette smoking, but smokeless tobacco (snuff,
chewing tobacco, etc) is also harmful to health & an important cause

cancers in non smokers.

    Cigarette smoking causes world wide , more than 5 million deaths
annually,mostly from cardiovascular disease, various types of cancers,

35 million years of life loss.

    China consumes 30% tobacco produced & the next place is occupied by
India with 10%.

    Nicotine an alkaloid present in tobacco leaves is not a direct cause
of tobacco related disease, but is addictive. With out it,it would be
east for smokers to stop the habit.

    Diseases caused by smoking:

1. Emphysema
2. Chronic obstructive lung disease
3. Lung cancer
4. Myocardial infarction (MI) (Heart attack)

Your visit to Chicago won’t be completed without visiting the most significant attraction, 'Buckingham Fountain' officially known as the 'Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain'. The fountain is the only water spraying source for the tourists to cool off while visiting ‘Grant Park’. With 280 feet in diameter and 23 feet height,
the Buckingham Fountain is one of the largest fountains in the World.

Buckingham Fountain was opened for the public view in 1923. The idea to make such huge fountain in Chicago was visualized by ‘Kate Buckingham’ to honor her late brother ‘Clarence’. She got inspired by some really huge fountains during her visit to Europe and wanted to bring some of Europe's monumentality to Chicago. The huge structure was built by Edward H. Bennett, while the seahorse sculptures were designed and crafted by artist Marcel F. Loyau.

A 15 minutes water show is run every hour for the guests to the Grant Park to enjoy. A total of 134 jets are used to push the water through the fountain, with the central jet spouting water almost 150 feet into the air. In the evening water show is particularly more enjoyable, when computerized lights accompany the water show for a magnificent spectacle of light and water.

    Boxing legend Muhammad Ali honored with the Liberty Medal yesterday(September 20) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received this prestigious award for his contribution in the field of civil rights and religious freedom. In fact

    The 70 years old champion is suffering from Parkinson's disease. His birth-name was Cassius Marcellus Clay. Later he changed it in 1964 when he converted to Islam.

    He was crowned Sportsman of the Century in 1999 by 'Sports Illustrated'. In the same year BBC honored him with the 'Sports Personality of the Year.

    The Liberty Medal comes with a cash prize of $100,000. Former president of South-Africa, Nelson Mandela and Former American President, Jimmy Carter are the other famous personalities who received Liberty Award in Past.

    Muhammad Ali is the only athlete in history to achieve this feet.

Since 1901 to 2011, 108 individuals have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Nobel prize in literature has been shared between two authors. It is a rare phenomenon compared to the rest 5 fields i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Economics, and Peace.

The four occasions when Nobel prize in literature has been shared between two individuals are as follows:

1) Nobel Prize in literature(1904):
First of all it happened in 1904 when Frédéric Mistral(France) and
José Echegaray y Eizaguirre(Spain) were awarded Nobel prize in literature jointly.

2) Next time in 1917 Nobel prize in loterature was shared between Karl Gjellerup(Denmark) and Henrik Pontoppidan(Denmark).

3) And on third time it was divided equally between Shmuel Yosef Agnon in 1966. Shmuel Yosef Agnon belonged to Israel while Nelly Sachs was a resigent of Sweden.

4) The last time Nobel prize in literature were shared in 1974. It was divided equally between Eyvind Johnson and Harry Martinson (both from Sweden).

Most commenly kept snakes are in the families of Boaidea, Pythonidae and Colubridae...

BOAIDAE

* Red Tail Boa:

Red tailed Boa constrictor is regularly
seen in pet trade. It eats large rats or rabbits and can live for 30 years and grow up to 10 feet long.

* Kenyan Sand Boa:

They are unique burrowing snakes that grow upto 1 and a half feet long. They are beautifully colored with yellow and brown patterns.

PYTHONIDAE

*Ball Python:

They are most popular pet snakes. Grow to be about 3-5 feet in length but can live for several decades.

* Burmese Python:

They are large snakes but still regularly seen as pets. Grow to be 15-20 feet long.

* Green Tree Python:

These are arboreal snakes. They like to curl up in an elegant clump and hang onto a little tree climb. Their max length is about 7 feet.

* Blood Python:

Blood python is a stocky snake with lovely brick red patches commenly found in their patterns. Having short tail and grow to be about 8 feel long.

COLUBRIDAE

* King Snake:

Closely related to the milk snake. King snakes grow to be about 6-7 feet in length making them a smaller pet snake. They readily feed on other snakes, hence the name king snakes. They are natives of North and South America.

* Black Rat Snake:

Plain looking snakes, able to swim and climb trees, thus they are active snakes.

* Corn Snake:

A species of rat snake, corn snake is a popular beginners snake due to its small size but also a well loved snake to the experienced keepers because of varing color patterns. They grow to be about 5 feet. They aren't known to be biters and are pretty docile snakes.
