Angelina Jolie underwent a preventive double mastectomy to fight against breast cancer

Breast cancer is no stranger to the public, and it affects many women (and some men) of various ages and demographic groups.  We hear about the stories of average women and their fights against the malignant disease, but it’s rare that we hear about celebrities taking great leaps as Angelina Jolie has done in the fight against breast caner in her personal life. Angelina was trending on almost every social media and news site yesterday when the word got out about the double mastectomy she underwent as a preventive measure against breast cancer. Her decision to remove both of her breasts was inspired by the untimely death of her mother at the hands of breast cancer. Because her mother was affected by the disease, Angelina was at high risk for contracting the cancer and decided to undergo a gene test that would determine just how high her risk was. When the test results came back and revealed that she was 87% positive for contracting breast cancer in the future, she took the preventive measures of removing not only one, but both of her breasts in order to reduce her chances of getting the disease, and she now is at a less than 5% risk.

When the word got out, many people saw this act as brave and courageous, but many are still in shock about her decision and are left with the question of if removing her breasts was the smartest move.

My answer to that question is ABSOLUTELY!

Breast cancer can sometimes be a tricky disease that moves as treatments begin. One breast may be infected and the other one may be fine, but there are cases where the disease comes back to rear its ugly head years down the line in the other breast, causing one to have to go through those stressful and expensive treatments again.

Angelina made a bold statement by undergoing the double mastectomy and cut out the issue (no pun intended) before it could manifest in her body. If this isn’t a fight against breast cancer then I don’t know what is! Some people who are fans of the beauty may feel “cheated” because a part of her body that is considered to be an object of beauty is now gone, but when it comes to her personal health and the preservation of her life for many years to come, the opinions of the public are irrelevant.

The gene test that Jolie took is quite expensive and isn’t always covered by insurance, but women who have a mother, aunt or grandmother affected by the disease should do self examinations regularly and when she reaches the age, receive mammograms regularly to check for masses in the breasts. Early detection heightens the survival rate.

Hopefully Angelina’s undaunted decision will encourage other “high risk” women to take charge of their breast health and take a stand against breast cancer like never before.

How to get into position

1. The female partner should position herself on her knees with the palms of her hands face up underneath her knees. Placing the hands in this way keeps her from running away…she is locked in place!
2. Once her hands are positioned under her knees, the female partner should then move herself forward and place the side of her face on the bed or on whatever surface she is sitting on.

There were reports that surfaced earlier this week about the Super bug version of Gonorrhea that is highly resistant to the current antibiotics on the market had been discovered in Hawaii, however, those findings were false.

According to an article on Www.uproxx.com, The Hawaii Health department released a statement stating that “the strands of gonorrhea found were actually normal strands of the STD that were able to be treated by antibiotics.”

Everyone can take a breath of relief in knowing that this bug hasn’t hit stateside yet, however, it is moving closer and will eventually make its way onto US soil.

Gonorrhea, like most STIs, is asymptomatic, which means that it has no symptoms.  So someone carrying the disease may never know they were exposed to the bacteria at all, and the problem with this is that this strain of gonorrhea isn’t dying when the current antibiotics used to treat the regular strand are used on it. The scary part about this disease, according to Naturopathic Medicine doctor Alan Christianson, is that “This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly,” and “Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days.”

Scientists are working around the clock to find a cure, but until then, we all need to make sure we protect ourselves and get tested regularly to insure our sexual health safety.

I first wrote about “Super Gonorrhea” last year as more reports of findings in Europe began to surface, and for every sexually active person on the planet, this should be a concern and something to look out for.  The only way to completely protect yourself from catching any STD is to abstain from sex, but if you choose to remain sexually active, please practice safer sex and use condoms!  They come in various sizes, textures and in non latex versions for those who are allergic to the rubber.

Overview
As a sex education blogger, one of my favorite things to do is to test out products and review them for you all. This week, I have a review on the new clitoral vibrator coming out of the UK market called
the iGino One. The iGino One comes packaged in a white and pink box and is accompanied by the tag line ” What Women Want”.

Once you lift the lid of the box, you will find a white and pink rectangular device that is about the size of a smaller smartphone and could be mistaken for anything but a personal massager. The device has a hygienic cover that protects it from dust and dirt, and the device has a USB charging port that is used to recharge the device by plugging it into a computer with the accompanying USB cord or by plugging it into a wall or electric outlet with the plug attachment (no more button batteries or triple A’s). The box also includes a velvet holding case for the iGino One for discrete travel and a set of basic instructions.

As far as the function is concerned, the iGino One was designed to mimic the movements of a woman’s finger during masturbation, and the vibrating tip was created with a “skinTouch head” that feels “warm and shapely to the touch”. There are special sleeves made from EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) (a material used in various medical products) that also come with the device that are used to create various sensations even for the most sensitive users. On the side of the iGino One is the on and off switch that controls the device, however there is only one setting.

The Review

When it comes to the actual function if the iGino One, I have to be honest and say that I am a bit disappointed.

The brand boasts that it mimics the motion if a woman’s figure during masturbation, however, I didn’t get that sensation when I used it (there is no way my finger could ever move as fast as this thing does). Instead what I got was a high speed of vibrations that overwhelmed my clitoris instead of satisfy it (I’m one of the most sensitive women when it comes to my vulva so i didn’t feel it delivered the sensitivity that it boasted it would). There is only one speed selection on the device, so even if you want to change the speed of the vibrations you’re pretty much screwed (no pun intended). Don’t get me wrong, I was able to reach an orgasm in a matter of minutes, but sometimes you just want to savor the sensation. If being aroused and not rush to the finish line.

Because the iGino One charges with a USB connection, it can not be submerged in water, which was another disappointing feature for me simply because I like to enjoy my “self love” sessions in the shower or in a bath soak.

If you are looking for the iGino One to be discreet when it comes to sound, please lower your expectations. The vibrations are loud and similar to that of an electric razor, so it makes your toy assisted masturbation session very obvious…and what woman wants that???

The attachments that are used for the head of the device aren’t what I would call sanitary because the material is porous and can collect bacteria over time.

Overall, for it’s discrete and contemporary design, Eco friendly and easy rechargeable capability and simple function I give the iGino One a grad “A”

But for it’s lack of delivery of mimicking the motion of a woman’s finger, lack of speed control, non discreet sound and lack of care instructions I give the iGino a failing grade.

I think when going back to the design board, the creators of the iGino will have an amazing product that will truly give women what they want, but until then, I will stick to using my $12.99 waterproof lipstick vibrator during my bath time.
