Day Two of Black - - Fashion!

Just something when you wear black, makes you feel sexy! Who doesn't love a "little black dress"?!But who says it has to be little, I love long sun dresses too! Black the simplest color to mix and match with others colors or accessorize with.

I guess I just didn't even realize how much of it I actually owned until I looked in my closet; here's what I have black: I have 8 pairs of shoes, 4 pair of dress pants, 1 pair of skinny jeans, tons of leggings, over 20 shirts and 5 purses. Oh, and I store my clothes by seasons, so that means I have a lot more for Spring/Summer! Pretty sure I'd be lost without black in my wardrobe, haha.

Happy Valentines Day!!

It's funny how much you read about this "hallmark" holiday. People love it or hate it. And I completely agree that it shouldn't take a holiday to let your loved one feel loved. My husband and I do take part in the Valentine celebrations.. Every year him and our son come in with chocolates, roses and a sweet card :) I don't "need" the sweet gifts, but it definitely makes me feel special!

This Valentines Day, I planned something special for my Nana. It will be three years this year, she has been widowed, and she always seems sad around holidays without my Papaw. So this year, I thought it would be really sweet if my son, Christian, surprised her!! We made her a card out of supplies we already had at home. Just a little tip: do not try to multi- task when doing this..(I was talking to my mom on the phone while writing and clearly wrote crooked and started to misspell "red", oh boy)! I asked my son what restaurant he would enjoy eating at with Nana and he chose Red Lobster. I bought a gift certificate and taped it to the inside of the card. He is going to show up with a single red rose and present her the card! This will really make her day :)

Early Valentines Dinner!

Since Valentines Day is on Tuesday, my hubby and I have decided to go on an early holiday dinner, at his choice of Buca di Beppo. We love Italian food, and we will have the kids with us tonight, and Buca is a very family friendly restaurant! We are looking forward to a really fun- filled evening :)

Buca di Beppo is located in the Arena District of downtown Columbus. With a unique, authentic feel, they make you feel right at home! This specific location is located underground, but is much larger than you would think! The first time my husband and I ate there, the host took us through the kitchen (where they also have a table to dine!) and we were a bit confused.. Come to find out, that's normal to navigate you to certain seating for the back of the restaurant! When we took our son, they did the same thing, and he was absolutely thrilled! The food is delicious, Italian cuisine. You order by couple or large group, making it convenient for families to share or try numerous entrees.

I wore two blush pieces I have today! Closely resembling a pastel, blush can easily go with many other colors! Making it easy to dress up or wear casually. I always feel extra- girly when I'm wearing blush because it's such a feminine color!

I love having my nails painted, and this makes a beautiful shade for anytime. This Spring, I'm in search for a sexy pair of blush shoes.. Haven't decided whether it will be pumps or flats. I'm such a flats girl, but I love the look of pumps; what to do?! What are some of your favorite ways to wear blush? Jewelry, handbags, shoes?!

Incredible options to choose from when it comes to blush florals! Peonies, garden roses, hydrangea and cabbage roses are just a select few of your many, gorgeous, options! The flowers I just mentioned are great because they are very full when in bloom. These flowers, though, will cost a little bit more than your average flower, but I think they are well worth it! With my husband and I in full swing of our home search, I can barely wait to decorate our home once we get it! I know decorating with pink, besides in my daughters room of course!, is probably wishful thinking!

Blush pink is the accent color in my daughters nursery. The walls are a taupe color, white furniture, white bedding with chocolate brown stitching-design, and blush pink accents! My inspiration for her room was actually a beautiful pillow I found at Marshalls Homegoods. I bought it and everything else fell into place! Colors started matching together perfectly. Her room is vintage- chic inspired and oh- so girly!

This Weeks Color Inspiration - - Blush Pink!

If you know me, than you know that one of my favorite colors is, blush pink! It's feminine and pretty! You can find gorgeous color combinations of blush pink, when it comes to flowers, the possibilities are incredible! I will feature flowers one day this week!

A few of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe are this color. It is a fun color to wear, especially with Spring coming up! You can easily dress it up or wear it casual. Handbags, clutches, shoes, tops, dresses, ohh the possibilities!

DIY- - I love you board!

Always waking up to a sweet note from my husband, or knowing he left a note for our son to wake up to, makes my day! Lately though, life has been very busy, which is okay, it keeps us going, but makes it difficult to leave those little special things that start our day off right... Thanks to Pinterest, I got the idea to make an " i love you because..." board. It will make it simple just to write down a couple words quickly, but show you care!! Here's what you're going to need:

Picture frame, with glass
Scrapbook paper
Glue stick
Scissors
Permanent marker
Dry erase marker

This is an extremely effortless project that will take you under ten minutes! I bought my picture frame from the dollar store, for $1. It was black, I spray painted it ivory with paint I already had prior to this project. I also already had the scrapbook paper, but normally you can buy any design of choice for under $1 too! I started by removing the backing of the picture frame and removing the glass. I traced the glass on the back of the scrapbook paper and cut it out. The design that was on my scrapbook paper was a little busy, so I added a gold sheer piece of scrapbook paper, cut it out with decorative scissors and wrote, " i love you because...". I also had to add an additional piece of the sheer paper below in order for us to write our special note :) I glued both pieces of small gold paper to the larger piece, let dry and put it back in the picture frame. All that's left to do is, add your special note and you're all done! You can add little embellishments like flowers, buttons, etc. to the picture frame to dress it up a bit, if you like. Keep the dry erase marker near and a paper towel for an eraser. Now go make someones day!!

I love "Super Tuesday"!

This beautiful floral arrangement from Oberer's Flowers was free.Yes, you read that right, FREE! Today they are offering what they call, "Super Tuesday" where you simply show up and pick out your pre-made floral arrangement! The selection was some-what overwhelming (in a good way, of course!)... There were so many gorgeous styles to choose from. I love these little yellow ball-like flowers called "billy button flowers". What a unique arrangement!

This Weeks Color Inspiration- - Purple!

Even though we haven't had a very bad winter, I am craving Spring! This weeks color inspiration is based on just that... Purple, some people may not own anything of the color, but after you see some of these beautiful finds, you will be dying to get some!

I love flowers, they make me happy! I love having them fresh in my house and admire them each day. I don't have much of a green thumb though, maybe that will come with age ;) Any who, today I will feature beautiful flower finds!

Better Than Sex Cake?!

We have an event to go to tomorrow evening and are expected to bring a dessert. I made it last year, so I'm going to make it again this year... Better than sex cake! Is it really better than sex?! I don't think so, but it is super delish ;) And seems to be a big hit every time I make it. It is an extremely rich dessert, but it satisfies your sweet tooth! This would be a great little dessert to make for your hunny on Valentine's Day (no pun intended!) to enjoy after a romantic dinner! Here's what you're going to need :

One box of Devils Food Cake mix
1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk
6 ounces of caramel ice cream topping
Toffee bits
One 8 ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed

To begin, prepare your cake mix as suggested on the box. Normally, you will need to add: cake mix, 1 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup oil and 3 eggs, mix well. Cook cake completely, depending on your pan size. I used a 13X9 inch pan, so about 35 minutes at 350. Once your cake is done, let cool for five minutes. Cut slits throughout the cake, not deep enough to touch the bottom of the pan though. In a small saucepan, over low heat, heat caramel ice cream topping and sweetened condensed milk together, stirring until smooth, about 2 minutes. Pour sweet mixture over the top of the cake equally. Once you have covered the length of the cake with the sweet mixture, top with toffee bits. Let this cool completely. To complete your cake, stir the thawed whipped topping to ensure a smooth texture. Top the entire cake with the whipped topping. Sprinkle remaining toffee bits onto the top and drizzle caramel and chocolate syrup for appeal! Refrigerate for at least one hour prior to serving. This gives the sweet mixture, of caramel and sweetened condensed milk, time to soak into the cake creating a divine sweetness. And voila, you've got yourself a very yummy, and crowd pleasing dessert!

Cake determined to make: 24 servings with 193 calories and 7.6 grams of fat per serving

More Grey Color Inspiration: Nurseries!

Some of my favorite nursery designs feature grey. It's a color that will go with so much! It's just like black, just not as dark! I know some people are sceptical of using black because of its' darkness; I'm more of a espresso brown person myself, so I think that's why I like grey so much! In yesterdays post, I mentioned something as simple as painting the walls grey and adding colored accessories. Take a look at some folks that did just that!
