Whimsical 430 by Revlon is a very popular nail polish since it's a great dupe for the Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air. Because of it's popularity Whimsical can be hard to find. Last year on my vacation in Curacao I spotted Whimsical at the DA drugstore in Salinja. There was only one bottle left which now is part of my nail polish collection. I have also mentioned Whimsical in my Lovin' it: Milky Glitter Nail Polishes. Remember it? For more photos and swatches keep on reading.

Whimsical is a milky glitter polish with a light blue greenish jelly base. It has baby blue and baby pink hex glitters, smaller silver hex glitters and greenish blue micro glitter particles. This polish is very sheer so it's good for layering. I layered 3 coats of Whimsical over AVON Vintage Blue (swatches in this post) for the photos below. I'm not wearing any topcoat in these swatch photos.

The application is a bit difficult. Since the polish is very sheer and the glitter is sparse, you have to do your best to place the glitter on your nails. On top of that it's a bit runny/watery. This is a downside but I have this same 'issue' with many glitter polishes, so it doesn't bother me that much. I actually like taking the time to do my nails. It's fun! Overall I think Whimsical is a very pretty polish. But I thought and wished it would've been more opaque.

I don't own the Deborah Lippmann one, but from what I hear they are very close. And the best thing is that Whimsical is only about $5. For availability check your local drugstore. I haven't come across Revlon milky glitters in the Netherlands yet. But Dutch DA drugstores do carry Revlon, so they might have Whimsical.

New In: Nelly Spike loafers and Callie pumps

Last week I ordered two new shoes during the Nelly.com mid-season sale. I received them within just a few days after placing my order. So I'm very happy with the fast free shipping at Nelly. I took lots of pictures of my new shoes to share with you girls. Check the pictures and my thoughts after the jump!

First up is the NLY Trend Spike loafers in the color taupe with gold spikes. These were around €24 in the sale. I got them in the size 39. They look really cool and edgy. But unfortunately the are a bit too big for me. I normally wear size 38.5, so I almost never get size 38 with closed toe shoes. I always go a size up since they don't have half sizes. But this time I'm not sure if that was such a good idea. Another thing is that my feet are narrow/slim, so the loafers are a bit too wide on the sides. I actually got these to use as my new everyday shoe, but with the small problems it might not work out. Although the problems aren't that noticeable, I'm still not sure if I'm going keep them or sell them so I get a smaller size. Nonetheless these shoes are very nice and of great quality. The photos speak for themselves.

And the next shoes I got were the NLY Shoes Callie blue pumps with the gold spike cap toe. For only €19 these heels were a great deal. I am in love with them. I got it in the size 39 and it fits me perfectly. The blue is very vibrant and the gold cap toe with the little spikes is very edgy and glamorous. In my latest What to Wear: Styling from Winter to Spring post I featured these blue Callie heels in a beautiful white dress outfit look. I can't wait to wear them with my own inspired creations. These heels are surely my favorite shoes at the moment! Check out the photos below and see for yourself how gorgeous the blue Callie heels are.

The mid-season sale has ended but I have great news. Both the NLY trend Spike loafers (still €23.95) and the NLY Shoes Callie pumps (still only €18.95) are available at the reduced price on the website. I can't wait for my package to arrive so I can wear my brand new shoes. I'll post about them as soon as they arrive. Looking at the list I might ... just might order a few more things haha. I've already been shopping for my spring and summer wardrobe. You can never start too early. Whenever the time of year I tend to buy things for the warmer seasons. I picked up some pretty items these last few months at different stores. Here are some of the pieces I got from SIX, H&M, mark. and ASOS.

First up is this beautiful gold H&M necklace. This super shiny gold necklace is now one of my everyday necklaces to spice up an outfit.

mark. Great Shapes necklace ($22 at the mark. website). It has bright coral enameled panels with gold trimming. My mom is an AVON representative and she got me this beautiful coral necklace. Thanks mom!

SIX bright orange earrings €5.95, gold twisted ring €5.95 and gold spike wrapped floral bangle €6.95. I'm really liking coral and orange tones this spring, so I got these pieces that go very well together. These pieces are probably still in stores here in the Netherlands. I got mine on a shopping trip in a SIX store in Almere.

ASOS Pack of 8 Smooth Rings €10.50. Check them out here. I'm really liking the stacking rings trend. When I found these smooth rings on ASOS, I had to have them. You get 8 rings in varying widths.

I love that the rings come in different sizes. I ordered the S/M ones. So I can wear some of them as above knuckle rings. How cool is that? ^_^ These are still available at ASOS for €10.50.

ASOS PAUSE Platform with Color Block. I got these a while ago on sale for only €18.38. Check them out here. I posted about these before in this post: Shopping Tip ASOS winter sale. They look absolutely gorgeous on the feet. I can't wait to wear them outside!

And lastly I bought this H&M lace bra with colorful rhinestones. I got it on sale for €7 (was €14.95). This is such a pretty bra, I'm planning on wearing it underneath sheer white blouses in the summer.

That is it for my mini fashion haul. I'm really excited for the weather to get better, so I can wear all my spring items. I also have a beauty haul coming up on the blog very soon. So be on the lookout for that! ^_^

What to Wear: Styling from Winter to Spring

Although it's officially spring, it still feels like winter here in the NL. Combining black, white and gold is a huge trend of the moment and a perfect way to transition from winter to spring.

Thanks to many celebrities like Kim Kardashian, everyone is rocking black, white and neutral colors in the winter and upcoming spring. Personally I love the combination of black and white in different patterns with gold accessories. Check out some outfit ideas after the jump!

I am a fan of big statement pieces. They add so much to a simple look. The white cruel summer heels by Kanye West and Giuseppe Zanotti are my favorite designer heels right now. Pairing the heels with black tight trousers/leggings and a white peplum sleeveles top, creates a very elegant and polished look. And to top it off I added this chunky statement necklace. I could see myself wearing this look on a date or night out.

Adding color is a great way to transition from winter to spring. The pretty bright blue studded cap toe heels (Callie by NLY Shoes) are surely eye-catchers. Pair them with simple and structured items. Such as this Lipsy Bodycon white dress with minimum pattern. And lastly I chose the ASOS hex cuff bracelets to complete the look. This would make a perfect night out outfit for when it's warmer. When in doubt of a color to add, pick a bright blue like this one. It looks great on all skin tones and gives life to every outfit.

Another way of adding color is through accessories. Instead shoes, go for colorful bags or jackets. I am in love with this bright fuchsia colored Steven Madden Bluuna bag. Wearing peplum tops with flared skirts creates a beautiful figure. And because it's still cold outside opt for a knee high boot to cover up. The gold rings and necklace in combination with the leopard sunglasses complete the outfit. Chain necklaces and multiple rings are very trendy and give a girly outfit an edgy twist. Go for this outfit, when the sun peeks through on cloudy days.

Essie ♥ Orange, It's Obvious!

Orange, It's Obvious! is part of the Essie Navigate Her Spring 2012 Collection. I received this bright orange in one of my monthly Truly Yours box subscriptions. Although it's from last years spring collection, I've been rocking this color all through the winter and spring. Keep on reading for more pictures!

Orange, It's Obvious! is an orange cream nail polish. In the bottle it looks very bright leaning towards neon. But on the nails it's a gorgeous bright reddish orange. The application was very nice and smooth. I used three coats for my manicure. But this polish is fully opaque with two coats. It has a very high gloss finish, but as always I use my Essence better than gel nails top coat duo for a long lasting glossy manicure. I've had this manicure for at least 5 days without chipping. These pictures were taken on day 4.

Orange, It's Obvious! is the only orange I have in my stash and I love it. I will be wearing this color again very soon.

Chanel ♥ Graphite

Back when Graphite by Chanel first came out in the fall 2011 Illusion d'Ombre collection, it didn't really catch my eye. But a couple of months ago I swathed it in store and fell in love.

Graphite is a grey charcoal glitter with a hint of golden shimmer. In direct sunlight it's a very warm golden grey glitter leaning towards green and in the shade it's a gorgeous foil glitter.

This is my very first Chanel nail polish which I got for Christmas from my boyfriend. The application was very pleasant and smooth. My manicure lasted for about 5 days without chipping. So that is great considering the price. I used 3 coats of Graphite and topped it with the Essence better than gel nails duo. I always add one coat of the Essence base sealer and then one coat of the Essence top sealer high gloss. This gives my manicures a very high gloss finish. I've talked about them in my beauty haul Curacao & The Netherlands video.

Graphite is still available in a few of the luxury cosmetics stores in the NL such as Douglas, ICI Paris XL and Sephora. Chanel Le Vernis are priced at €22.50.

Review: Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil

Dry lips is a problem that many of us encounter during the winter. Using a good moisturizing lip balm and drinking a lot of water are great solutions to the problem. Today I'm reviewing my favorite lip balm of the moment by Burt's Bees.

Burt's Bees is well known for it's 100% natural lip balms. This is the first Burt's Bees lip balm I own that I really like. It truly does what it is supposed to do. I notice it has something different and good, that many lip balms lack.

Burt's Bees says: " Bring your lips back to beautiful. This replenishing and hydrating lip balm is infused with the antioxidant goodness of pomegranate oil. It replenishes moisture to reveal smooth, healthy lips, while it coats them with a hint of color for an even-toned appearance."

The product comes in a traditional twist up lip balm tube. The packaging is consistent with other Burt's Bees lip balms. The only difference is the deep red-pink cap. The lip balm is 100% natural and doesn't contain mineral oil. It does contain many nourishing oils such as coconut, sunflower, beeswax and castor oil.

The lip balm has a pretty deep pink color with fruity scent. I use my lip balm at night before sleep and in the morning before leaving the house. It prevents my lips from drying out and cracking during the night. My lips are usually very dry and flaky and it doesn't help that I like to bite the flakes off of my lips. Know what I mean? But since I'm using this Burt's Bees lip balm every night my lips are well moisturized and smooth. What I also really like about this lip balm is the consistency. It's very smooth and glides on nicely. It doesn't have that extremely oily feeling that many lip balms have. The lip balm gives my lips just a hint of color, but it's not really noticeable. I've tried many lip balms before this one and none gave me the result the Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with pomegranate oil gives me. Overall it's a very hydrating, moisturizing and affordable lip balm.

I love music! Everywhere I go I bring my music with me. Everyday when I'm doing chores around the house or making dinner I put on my favorite music of the moment. Dancing and singing is the best way for me to get things done. So when the BassBoomz Bluetooth speaker arrived I was super excited to try it out.

The BassBoomz is a high performance portable Bluetooth speaker. At first I didn't know such a product existed but I'm glad I've discovered it. Because I didn't know I needed it until now. Here is why... One of the main problems I have when listening to music in the kitchen is having to connect either my tablet, mp3 or laptop to the TV speakers in the living room. This means that I'll have to go back and forth to skip songs, turn the volume up or down and to be able to hear the music in the kitchen I have to turn up the volume very high. The BassBoomz comes neatly packaged in a mini plastic box. So as the name says it's a Bluetooth speaker. Instead of connecting your device with cables to a speaker you use Bluetooth for a wireless connection. The BassBoomz portable Bluetooth speaker is compatible with all wireless devices with a Bluetooth connection. It's ideal for your smartphone, MP3 player, tablet or laptop. This is what the BassBoomz looks like turned on and with the Bass Expansion System released. By twisting the BassBoomz you activate and release the Bass Expansion System for the digital amplifier. It has a grip base to provide stability and reduced vibration when used on hard surfaces.

Once you turn on your Bluetooth device the BassBoomz will appear in the available devices display. With just a click away your device will be connected to the BassBoomz. So it's very simple to work with.

As the BassBoomz is connected you can start listening to music through the BassBoomz. I've already tried it out on my tablet, Iphone and laptop. This display above is from my ASUS transformer tablet. I love that once it's connected, the sound only comes through the BassBoomz. The quality of the sound is very clear and crisp. The bass is also good when it's activated. You control the volume on your device as usual. The rechargeable battery will last 5-6 hours at 70% volume. It's amazing how much sound come out of such a tiny little box. Of course I'm not a sound expert, but as far as I can tell the sound is pretty amazing. My boyfriend who's a lot tech-savvier than myself also agrees and finds the BassBoomz a pretty cool thing. He has already used it so many times and is loving it.

I personally love that it's so small and cute. You could easily carry it in your bag or purse. I have the blue version but they come in many different colors such as white, black, silver, purple, pink, red, green and gold. Although it's a bit pricey at €95, I have to admit It's a great innovative product. Once you have it you'll get so much use out of it. The BassBoomz also make a great gift!

Milky Glitter nail polishes are basically glitter polishes that have a semi sheer cream base. Hence the name milky glitter polishes. Indie nail polish brands have been making fun creations for a couple of years now and sell them online through Etsy or Facebook. You can also achieve a milky glitter manicure by doing a glitter jelly sandwich. Give this a Google and see the amazing creations of nail bloggers worldwide.

We have already seen a few beautiful milky glitters such as Glitter in The Air and Candy Shop by Deborah Lippmann. This spring and summer their coming with these two new collections of milky glitter polishes. In the Netherlands you can buy Deborah Lippmann polishes online for €19-23 at Boozyshop, Promakupstore and Nelly.com. Whether these collections will be available in NL is still uncertain. I'll keep you posted.

ILLAMASQUA - I'MPERFECTION COLLECTION

Speckled nail varnish. Pastel creams with small and micro matte black glitter. These resemble speckled eggs or freckles on the face and body.

The Illamasqua speckled nail varnishes have recently been launched. As of now you can buy them online at Illamasqua.com for €17.34 or at ASOS for €19.55. Although they're a bit pricier at ASOS, considering the free shipping ASOS offers a much better deal. As far as I know Illamasqua polishes are not available in stores in the NL. I'm still not sure if I'll be getting one of these, because they aren't cheap and I can't decide which one I like more.

I actually own Popular and Whimsical (Check them out in this haul). I bought both of them at the DA drugstore in Curacao. PS. Whimsical is a great dupe for the Deborah Lippmann Glitter in The Air. Revlon nail enamels retail for $4.99 in US drugstores. I've also seen Revlon nail enamels for about €8-9 in some DA drugstores in the NL. I can't wait to add Girly to my collection. Since my parents are going to the US soon, I'll ask them to get it for me there.

Review: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub

The search for the best acne treatment skincare products is a never ending one. I'm always trying out new products to take care of my combination/oily skin. When I first heard of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, I was excited to try it. I've been using this foaming scrub for almost two months, so it was time for my review.

The Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit line contains a few products for face (cleanser, scrub, wipes) and body (wash) care. The Pink Grapefruit line is made with 100% naturally derived grapefruit extract and vitamin C. This line of acne cleansers treat and help prevent breakouts while eliminating oil and dirt without overdrying the skin. At first I really wanted to get the facial cleanser, but it was sold out. Thus I went for the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash pink grapefruit foaming scrub. It contains 2% salicylic acid which is the active ingredient for the acne treatment. And it's made with the Neutrogena MicroClear technology which has been proven to be effective in acne treatment.

Neutrogena says: "With an uplifting blast of grapefruit plus vitamin C, this unique formula clears blemishes and blackheads. Gentle microbeads smooth away roughness without over-drying or irritating for clearer, healthier looking skin."

The scrub comes in a 124mL plastic tube with a flip top. Dispensing the product is simple and easy. The packaging is light pink which can be associated with the grapefruit color. Overall I think the packaging is very appealing.

The scrub has a gel like structure infused with fine white micro beads and larger pink beads. The white micro beads dissolve into a rich lather. But the pink beads are a bit harder and don't easily dissolve. The scrub smells like grapefruit. It's not a scent I would normally go for, but I don't find it disturbing.

Let's talk about the effect of using this scrub. I've been using it for over two months twice a day. For me the scrub is gentle enough to use as a regular cleanser. It doesn't have the harsh scrubbing effect I would expect from a scrub. The scrub gives me a really clean feeling and it completely removes all make up. It's a bit drying but not over-drying or irritating. This is definitely a product for the combination/oily skin. Does it clear blemishes and blackheads? I would say yes and no. I personally don't notice any big changes. I still occasionally get a few blemishes, so for me it doesn't prevent breakouts. But I feel like the scrub does help clear out the blemishes faster. So it's not a miracle worker. Overall it's a fine scrub that could be used as a cleanser. Although I'm still using it every day, my search for the best acne treatment product for my skin continues.

The Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash pink grapefruit foaming scrub is available in all drugstores and department stores such as CVS, Rite Aid, Ulta, Target, Walgreens, Walmart in the US. It retails for about $7.50. In the Netherlands it's a bit difficult to find in stores. But you can buy it online for €7.99 at Prettyplease.nl. Prettyplease also carries the cream and gel cleanser. Mine was purchased for about ƒ15 at a local beauty store in Curacao called Lucky Cosmetics.

Nicole by OPI ♥ Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam & OPI ♥ The Living Daylights

Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is one of the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors. Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is a deep dark emerald color. It's a very pretty cream nail polish. It has a perfect consistency and it only needs one coat for full opaqueness with a glossy finish.

Since Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is a teal color I decided to pair it up with The Living Daylights by OPI. The Living Daylights is from the latest OPI Skyfall collection. It's a clear based polish with large hex teal, silver, gold and copper glitter. I bought mine at ASOS, check that out in this post.

I think the combination turned out really nice. I topped it off with my favorite topcoats at the moment which are the Essence better than gel nails duo. After my colored polishes I add one coat of the Essence base sealer and then one coat of the Essence top sealer high gloss. This gives your manicure a very high gloss finish. Lovin' it: Kanye West by Giuseppe Zanotti Cruel Summer Sandals

The latest collaboration between Kanye West and Giuseppe Zanotti are to die for! Kanye West worked once again with Itilian designer Giuseppe Zanotti on a new pair of women's heels. The heels are inspired by Kanye West's Cruel Summer album cover.

Giuseppe Zanotti shared this preview of the 'Cruel Summer' leather sandals last September on their facebook page. The stiletto heels are all-white and have a leaf/feather design, which is inspired by the ancient Greek. I was immediately intrigued by the very artistic and sculpture-like high heel sandals.

Kim Kardashian was of course the first one to own a pair of the killer Greek Goddess heels. She posted these photos on her Instragram a couple of weeks ago.

The all-white and feather/leaf/flame like center piece is so beautiful. It looks extremely luxurious and glamorous. And I am kind of obsessed with ancient Greek designs and mythology, so both the Cruel Summer album cover and high heels are perfect to me. I simply LOVE it!

There is also a black and gold version by Giuseppi Zanotti. Black, white and gold are my favorite colors at the moment. Nonetheless I think the white version is much more elegant and sophisticated.

The 'Cruel Summer' leather sandals are 130mm high and have an inwardly-curved heel. I think it looks amazing on the feet and the height is just right. Moisturizing my skin in the winter is a must. It's very important to use a moisturizer after showering to prevent the skin from loosing all it's moisture. There are many circumstances in the winter that can lead to dry skin. For example showering with warmer water than usual, cold temperatures outside and turning up the heater. Besides drinking a lot of water, using a good moisturizing body lotion is a great solution for dry skin!

Right now the AVON Moisture Therapy intensive treatment shea butter body lotion for extra dry skin is my favorite body moisturizer.

I started using this body lotion in the summer during my vacation back home in Curacao. And I loved it so much, that I asked my mom to get me some for the winter. And I swear that my skin hasn't felt this good in the winter in years.

It has shea butter and jojoba oil, but to me this lotion doesn't smell like other shea butter products I've tried before. And this is actually a good thing, because I love this scent much more. Immediately after putting on the lotion, my skin feels very soft and moisturized. I love moisturizing my skin with this lotion so much, that I can't wait to use it again after my next shower. Smoothing on my body lotion has become one of my favorite things to do in my beauty routine.

New In: H&M and Forever21

In October I went on a little shopping trip to Antwerpen with friends. We had such a great time! I didn't shop much but I brought home two things that I really liked.

First is this white Forever 21 blouse. The ruffles and gold buttons make it very cute and vintage looking. The blouse was around €20 at the F21 store in Antwerpen. I tried out a couple of other blouses and jumpers, but they weren't as special as this one.

The second item I bought was this H&M skirt. It has this very cool print. The bold paint brush strokes and the vibrant colors make this skirt stand out. I also really like the thick material and the folds in the skirt. I would wear it as a high-waist skirt with tights underneath and some nice heels. The skirt was on sale for €15.

Review: Mark. Three's A Charm 3-in-1 Body Cleanser

As you all might know by now, my mom is an Avon representative in Curacao. So I own many Avon and mark. products. As far as I know these brands aren't available in the Netherlands. I wish they were though, because they have some great products! Today I have a bath and body review.

Mark. three's a charm 3-in-1 body cleansers in the scents Plum Berry and Lemon Sugar.

mark. says: "This multitasking foaming cleanser can be used as a body wash, bubble bath and gentle daily use shampoo too! No matter how it’s used, a light scent is left behind."

I own two scents of the mark three's a charm 3-in-1 body cleanser. Plum Berry (seen below) is scented with exhilarating notes of succulent plum, blackberry blossom and passion flower. This one smells very fresh and fruity. Lemon Sugar is scented with sparkling notes of citrus and sugar. This one has a very strong sweet sugary scent. And you can also really smell the lemon notes.

The product comes in a 180ml bottle. Which brings me to the only downside of this lovely body wash, the packaging. It comes in a hard square bottle which looks very luxurious and nice. But this makes it very hard to squeeze out the product. In fact squeezing the bottle actually hurts a little. Nonetheless it's not impossible to dispense the product, it just takes a bit more effort. Which in this case I don't mind because I really love the body wash.

What I love about the three's a charm 3-in-1 body cleanser is the scent. They do not only smell delicious, but the scent stays on your skin for hours after showering. This to me is a major plus when it comes to scented bath and body products. It also leaves your bedroom smelling delicious. As you can see above the body wash looks like a gel with a silky texture. It creates a nice lather in a bath loofah and it's very moisturizing. It doesn't leave my skin dry at all. But because it's winter I do use a rich body lotion after showering.

The mark Three's A Charm 3-in-1 body cleanser comes in different scents such as the plum berry, lemon sugar, vanilla cream and jasmine petal. The body cleanser costs about $8 for 180ml.
