As New York Fashion Week zipped by in fashionable pace few trends stayed in to highlight our not so soon to come fall. One of this prominent trends is zippers- most of the designers find its functional and decorational beauty.

From AltewaiSaome to Yigal Azrouel, from utilitarian sportswear to a glamorous evening wear zipper were highlighted as an ultimate accessory.

So, if you are a motorbike chip or ladylike elegant find your way to incorporate zippers into your stylish wardrobe.

Layers perhaps are the biggest trend of this season. They are not only adding sophistication to your look, but a perfect was to keep yourself warm in this early started frigid winter season. It’s time to see what you have and how to dress it up. The challenge is to make it work and there are some rules to keep in mind. I put set of few images to better demonstrate it, let’s face it, picture is always hundred times better then words.

On the rainy day layer your waterproof jacket over denim or cargo jacket; pair it with boyfriend jeans and boots, for a casual and modern look. To spice it up: skinny jeans with high heels booties.

From interior décor into our closets gray taking dominant role. Though it mainly defined as a boring unnoticeable color (not for the unnecessary reason mouse is gray), it also could be absolutely most glamorous, when done properly.

Grays are easy blend-able, but as well as emphasize-able. Several colors work great with gray, among them reach chocolate brown.

Layer gray sweater on top of long sleeve white shirt to lighten it up, roll up sleeves revealing your trimmed wrists (they’re claimed to be one of the most sensual part of women body). For extra glamour place necklace, layer it with the scarf, belt yourself for sharper look, and don’t forget gloves; not only to protect your hands from cold, but to showoff your elegance. Wrap-up cardigan will give you additional layer of warmth.

Vests add extra warmth and new dimension to your outfit. I personally love them, they keep you warm without restricting your movement, which is essential when driving and going in and out of the vehicle. Vest could be a great item to style up your look. Put a belt to define your waist and to glam up your appeal.

Proportions are important factor to keep in mind. It’s best when every layer ending up at a different level, otherwise they will bulk you up, adding unnecessary volume in unnecessary places (waist, hips).

Balance your cropped jacket with a long sweater or belted cardigan. Skinny jeans would work perfect as well as a mini skirt. I love to wear camisole under my sweater to show off a touch of lace peaking from underneath.

Fur yet another great trend. From big coats to vest, from collar to trimming fur could add touch of sophistication and glamour. Thankfully to new technologies modern faux fur provide you with cruel-less alternatives.

Fur shawl work great with almost anything and as well as without anything. Layer it on top of turtleneck sweater; skinny jeans or fitted pant or pencil skirt; put a necklace, pair of high heels and you ready to stroll down Champs-Elysées or 5th Avenue.

Today is right time to keep some of your summer items easily accessible. Layering summer dresses is another way to spice up your wardrobe. Dress it on top of the light weighted long sleeve shirt or turtleneck sweater; cover with velvet /corduroy jacket or chunky cardigans, and top it up with a coat. Summer skirts would work fine as well with a oversize sweater or cardigan. When layering up summer items always wear heavy weighted tights (40 den and above), consider as well textured tights.

Colors. Layering is great way to snow your love of color or the lack of it. Add up a touch of color by adding colored items,

or you can keep it monochromatic by playing within its shade, sequins will sparkle up your outfit.

Black is my personal favorite color. Texture is a wonderful way to layer it up, by using shimmer of silk, deepness of velvety fabrics, warmth of cashmere, shine of leather, transparency of chiffon, edginess of sheered fur you can create outstanding ensemble.

So Ladies, dig into your closets, pull up all your nice staff, be creative! Just remember, the rule of a Christmas tree doesn’t applies here, more isn’t always better! But never forget to add extra layer of happiness and confidence. Nothing can be as glamorous as being self-confidence.

As kids we read the story of "Three Little Pigs" over and over and as an adults we read it over and over to our kids, but for some reason its meaning and conclusion still didn't reach the core of our brains.

Why do we still build homes out of sticks and cartoon boxes?

We would never have that extend of devastation if proper building codes would be in place. We in United State have world highest real estate prices, though the estate is not so real. What’s real is the taxes that you cannot miss to pay, even if your house not there so much…

I’m planning to send Three Little Pigs book to the President and building departments to use as a manual in rebuilding preparation plan.

So, you've added penny to your prices, created smashing colorful weekly flyers and you've hired most popular daytime TV host to be your spokesperson. Smart move, I shall say, but incomplete... And now as fast all the allured customers run into your store, as fast they run out of it... The moment one put a foot into your store, one magically transferred into the all-beige world of back-in-time. Depressing colors, that far away form being up to date with modern time; dimming lighting, guess to hide the old-fashioned garments; the stale air of mid 90th sticked to every label. Who wants to go back, when we all desire to advance... You cannot change image without changing an outfit. You have to not only wash your face, but to brush your teeth too...

Open your eyes, look at the world around you, take your mind out of the box; even though we are mostly all "siding mentality", the bricks and stucco are imminently taking over our minds; we becoming stylish, fashionable, sophisticated and with that our expectations and demands... Where is your competitive advantage? Sorry to say, Nowhere to be found...

Entrance, Foyer, Lobby... call it however you want, but this is the space that should never be left ignored. This is the place where your house greet the world... or you for this matter, and anyone who gained the invite to your sanctuary. This is the place to set ever lasting first impression, the space that set the tone for the rest of the house, giving a hint of what to expect, and this is the place that largely left neglected or totally forgotten. Viewed as very unimportant place, many builders shrinking square footage of this space to a minimum, some completely abolishing them, though nothing can be less unwelcoming then stepping straight into a seating room.

So if your entrance isn't so GRAND - make it feels like one. Here's some ideas and inspiration.

It’s a perfect space to go with bold paint, prints or to cover wall with wallpaper.

As I pointed out on my previous post "Mirror mirror on the wall..." small places need large mirrors, it visually enlarge area, making it feel lighter and brighter. Go for full length mirrors, they will fulfill your craving for the glance of approval heading out off the door. Framed artwork will add more personality.

Find a place to fit consul table, even a small one, a shelf would do the job too. Arrange on it a decorative plate or a small basket to have a designated place for your keys (it will save you tons of time wasted searching for them). Small vase with flowers or a plant and other decorative elements would spice up the room.

Designing entrance room make sure it's not only beautiful but a functional as well. If your space allows put a bench or chair. Don't forget few hooks to hang outside clothe or standing coat hanger. I personally like to have a dressed in my foyer, great place to keep there scarves, gloves and all other small accessory to add last minute touch ups before leave house.

Create you space to reflect your personality.

Be bold, be fearless, be Glamorous and make your places be the same!

On my recent trip to Daffy's I came across a jacket on a clearance rack for a very laughable price. It's a trendy tweed, nice color, but it was just too simple and lacking personality (which personally exactly what I liked). It's a great palate to customize to make it a stand out designer looking piece.

Since lace is another huge trend I decided to trim it with a lace, which I think it turned out nice.

Look for a plain but good quality pieces, then add tough of your personality to it.

So, if you feel claustrophobic - mirrors are your best friends. They not only visually enlarge space, but strategically placed mirror will reflect the light which will brights up your room. There is no rule of thumb in choosing the right one. It has to reflect not only you but your personality and style. Tall mirrors visually lift up ceiling making your room looks not only big but tall. From multiple once hanging on the wall to a supersized one standing on the floor, properly chosen mirror will add sophistication and elegance to the space.

Mirrored furniture is a big trend right now. You can find it in most stores at every price point. Just keep it simple, don't overwhelm your room.

The Giftful Present

When I asked my niece, who is enormously obsessed with Scooby-Doo, what she want for her Birth Day, the answer was very predictable - anything with Scooby-Doo on it. That is easy!.. so I've thought. I headed to Disney Store where a clearly insulted by the request of anything Scooby-Doo sale lady let me know that that creature doesn't belong to a fairy-tale land. (How should I know, I've never watched it). The slight embarrassment turned into little frustration: what could I give her that she already doesn't have?

My Erica moment came to me with my favorite cup of Morning Blend Coffee at Au Bon Pain; what if I'll give her her-own "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" moment. How did I do that? Well, where there's a will there's a way: Photo shoot, Photoshop, handful of imagination and the result is here:

Thanks to Target's Kodak print center, the poster (18x24) came out exceptional.

To see her sparkly eyes staring with disbelief worth every minute I've spend creating it. She absolutely loved it and when she's been asked what is her favorite gift, she said with no second thought: "Scooby & Me".

Recent event of Demi Moore hospitalization, her latest interview on pages of Harper's Bazaar The Star of Conversation and tons of speculation of what really happened, left me feel heartbroken. And though you'll never know what you'll do in her position, give me a permission to say this:

Never let any men get under your skin; treat him like a very expensive suit - if it stop fitting you and you can't alter it to make you feel good in it, toss it away; feel sorry, be sad, but don't let it define your style; go back to your closet, evaluate what you have and dress accordingly; you'll always have an option to expand your wardrobe when you'll came across a piece that brings up your best features, but don't feel attached to it before the expiration of return policy.

Don't ever forget who you really are!

If you one of those millions who still getting bills in your actual mailbox, there is a huge chance that you are overwhelmed by end-of-the-year bill accumulation. We all know how it is unwise to just toss them in a garbage. Shredding isn't fun either, it's time consuming, it's dusty and super noisy.
So, here is a better solution:

dump your bills in a bucket of water, let it sit for a bit, then form a sculpture out of it, let it dry and use accordingly! (you can paint it, or keep it raw)

I found a cute vase in Marshalls to use it as a foundation.

Now, I need to find a great place for its display. That can be a great conversation starter, so be sure to place it right.

When it comes to giving a gift I always look for something meaningful, something that well stay for long time, and give the most joy to the recipient. You always have to have ion mind the interests of whom your giving gift, it's easy with the teen who like to play games, just pop up into Game Stop, pick up one of the newest addition and your job is done. It's not so easy with those who aren't like to waste their time in front of TV. You have an option of buying gift card (BORING) or go with something creative.

Just recently I had a challenge of finding perfect present to my favorite girl in the world for her elementary school graduation. She love posters, so I thought, what could be better present then a poster of her-own-self. She love tp dance, sing and write songs, so I decided to incorporate her favorite words, and some lines from her songs. That what I came up with.

Thanks to Target's Kodak Photo Center I got an amazing quality prints (18x24) for a great price of $17.99 each (best price for poster printing compare to Kinko's and Staples).

By the way, I've got a blast of emotional gratitude from The Girl (my work did pay off).

Few days ago I stopped in Target Store and with sad disappointment I’ve discover that the store had been hijacked by a huge grocery department squishing clothing department into a very tiny and unwelcoming section, meaning less variety of schmattes would be there to impress or disappoint us.

I picked few items that I found to be at a descent quality in a trendy mainstream, with a styling ideas of glamour on the budget.

Animal print is a huge hit this season. I must confess, I have a strange set of mind. When I see something my brain right away working on finding flaws and on the way how to improve it. I am known to be a transformer. I have a hobby of looking for basic or boring stuff and transform them into something special and unique.

Recently I came across this clutch in Daffy’s. It is quilted which quite highly fashionable now, but have the most ridiculous strap, but with the price $11.99 have a great potential.

Few days ago I was in Banana Republic where bucket of clearance jewelry took my attention. One of the necklaces ($31.99) I found to be interesting and could be used as a new strap for the clutch. An added ribbon bow gives it à la Lanvin finish.

So, if your not into spending tons of money on fancy overpriced designer bags then use them as inspiration, buy the basics and accessories accordingly. Just remember, no money can buy you style.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet.

It was a night of little disappointment, as most gowns was up to par, few jokes from Ricky Gervais was mean enough to crack a smile, though few small lapses leave room for some constructive criticism.

Ever since I first saw Natalie Portman as a kid in film “The Professional” I was taken by the girl’s immense talent, from that point I have seen her multi dimensional abilities to get in to a role and deliver most convincing character. I was happy for her win of this year Golden Globe, she truly deserve it. Nevertheless I was sad not to see her dressed in something more substantial for such a grand occasion, at such epic point of her carrier and life. Though with some modifications dress could look a bit more flattering. I wasn’t too thrilled of a fabric choice; fresh pink color was nice, but the strong glair the silk was reflected contributed to dress’s coarseness. And of course the rose, it was way to obvious, the stamp was absolutely unnecessary addition. When you have a statement peace a part of a dress you have to be easy on the jewelry, sometimes totally avoid it; the hand embroidered crystal rose was too strong of a statement to be paired with necklace. A pair of earring would be appropriate.

Catherine Zeta-Jones was absolutely radiant, interesting gown, greatly fitted, very trendy color. Except for her hair, I would definitely lift it up; plus because of textured nature of fabric I would suggest different choice of earrings, with less details, more graphic with clean and straight lines.

When you have a curvy figure it’s best to accentuate your waist line. Which in case of Jennifer Lopez was done exactly the opposite, by putting jeweled poncho she shaded out her defined waist that made her look bulky.

Posture! When you bear your shoulders it’s absolutely imperative to pay attention on your posture. I would want Julianna Margulies open up her shoulders, she is gorgeous woman and she should be proud of herself and achievements on “The Good Wife” which by the way a very great series (love it!). Adore her YSL ensemble, but her low-rise bustier leaving too much opened skin, which would benefit by adding a necklace (preferably whitish).

Love Emma Stone's dress! But I have a feeling it’s chocking her, I would open it’s neckline about ½ inch, that would visually elongate her neck.

When you make firework show in your back your backyard last thing you want is your neighbor to having laser show next to you. Taking the hair out of the raffles on her shoulder would give them some air and proportions.

Not so much of the city, lots of ridiculous outfits, and plenty of kids in audience; can it get any better.

Though the movie failed my already reduced by numerous commercials expectation, the buzz about stunning styling drove me to the see it, but kept me wonder “is the king really naked or it’s just my imagination”.

It was collage of everything: Liza and single ladies; Penelope Cruz, as a confessed banked who prays nightly to “let be up”; Laurence of Arabia, who can comprehend desert without him; à la ABBA karaoke performance; Carrie as a modern version of Scarlet O’Hara (Gone with the wind) in the scene when she meet Eden at the “very fake” market; and Carrie as alluring Scheherazade; and of course the ultimate of glamour - Maybach, well all four of them.

While it healthy to laugh, the point was missing, what exactly it try to convey: how they’re different, or how different we are, or may be how unable to adjust to the different environment we are. There is a great saying “when in Rome do as Romans do”, as even in less conservative places explicit behavior will not be applaudable.

But on a serious note, the joke would be actually on us, when a downtown firm’s receptionist will be greeting “leaving everything to imagination”.

My passion for green living doesn’t limit to sorting out of a trash. I am very fervent about sustainable lifestyle, and try to find other ways to contribute saving of natural resource. Before tossing out unneeded piece of clothing, I check if it’s possible to reuse it for something else. In some cases it’s very much possible, just use your imagination. My latest reuse of a pair of old jeans left me with a “compliments catching” tote.

To my surprise, this year most of celebrities succeed to escape the Worth-Dressed-List (I will not add fuel to the fire and would leave them along to lick their wounded egos). But could’ve the Best Dressed done any better? Here is my thoughts.

It seem to me it was a pact between the ladies of the red carpet - strapless gowns. Love them. But why?

It is the most complimentary way to display the most essential part of women’s body back, shoulders and neck. It is as well a perfect pedestal for instant glamorization. Was interesting to note that single handed number of celebrities took advantage of it. So many gorgeous gowns displayed, so many necks was wasted.

Kate Winslet’s classic and elegant look was created by adding Tiffany’s necklace to her simple, slick, champagne shimmer gown. Though, it wouldn’t be my choice of accessory . I would suggest more modern approach - a standout, statement necklace (let’s say from Lanvin Collection).

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s choice of Dries van Noten gown was a little bit to casual for such event, considering she was a nominee. Though in was great color to outline the blue shade of her eyes. But she could glamorize her look by swapping earrings for a necklace (before & after picture, necklace from TANDYA Collection).

Amanda Seyfried was too monotonic and mellow in that gorgeous Armani Prive Gown. The color of her eyes, skin tone and make-up was diluted with a tint of dress. Was missing some contrast, some life.

Kristen Stewart - have never seen her as elegant and beautiful, though something delicate on her décolleté would add sophistication.

Julianne Moore - I found her Calvin Klein gown a bit too pale for her complexion, and the choice of jewelry wasn’t constructive.

Rachel McAdams - Love her Elie Saab Haute couture gown, romantically elegant, but I would favor to see her with necklace, rather then earrings. (Tiffany Aria Necklace; H.Stern Nature Collection)

Carey Mulligan - was beautiful in very original Prada gown, which to my opinion was originally designed for much taller girl therefore pairing with those sandals was not complimentary. She should’ve chosen lighter color platforms, which would visually elongate her legs.

Milye Cyrus either was not comfortable in her outfit, or her outfit was not comfortable, which threw her posture of the roof , and made it very unattractive.

Confidence is girl most valuables possession. Proper posture is the best display of confidence, and as important as a choice of your dress.

And of cause, Congratulation to all the Winners of 82nd Oscar Award!
