A New Sign Installer in Town…

There is a new sign installer in town. The name is Gramar Sign. The locally-owned company is spear-headed by John DuCharme. After meeting with John, he has taken the majority of sign installer and fabricator complaints into consideration while structuring his offered services. The installations are set at an introductory price of $20/sign – and there are extra goodies too (for more details, visit his website: http://www.gramarsign.com/).

Once more, Oakley Signs services the sign fabrication requests. I used Oakley myself to print my Glass Slipper Homes sign riders and open house signs. The print and materials are very precise and of high quality.

Anytime I visit a locally owned store that stands out, I like to share it with my friends. I recently had a fantastic experience at Madison Lighting while picking out a bathroom sconce.

Lighting Consultant, Kathy Meyer, worked to find options that would fit my 1964 home - while adding my own style. When you are working with small spaces, creativity is needed to accommodate storage, while keeping it clutter free

In a very tiny space, door consume a large amount of room. One idea is to swap your swinging door for one that slides. Apartment Therapy has some interesting ideas for sliding doors. Visit your local Restore or Deconstruction Inc, both in Madison, for door options.

The media has been telling us that it’s a Buyer’s market, therefore Buyers feel like they have all the time in the world. However, many properties are experiencing a fast sale with multiple offers. Contributing factors include: pricing, condition of the property, location. Price will eventually make a property interesting to 1 Buyer (and that’s all it takes).

So if you are looking at properties and see one that you love, it meets your criteria, and it is in your price-range, I would encourage you to be bold and move forward before someone else does it first.

Paper Countertops?!?

Keeping it green, there are some new companies that are utilizing up to 100% post-consumer paper and petroleum free resin to make counter tops. This is something that I really want to try myself. I love the idea of recycling into something that will take a beating as I cook on it. One super neat feature was the dish drain, carved right into the counter top. Re-Nest.com has the counter top post with a description of the industry and a sample of current manufacturers as below:

$8,000 ~ Used as a Downpayment!

As the loan programs continue to change, many Buyers are excited about the $8000 tax rebate, but do not have sufficent funds for a downpayment. The National Association of Realtors has been working towards a more immediate solution.

Shaun Donovan, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said on Tuesday “FHA’s approved lenders will be permitted to “monetize” the tax credit through short-term bridge loans. This will allow eligible home buyers to access the funds immediately at the closing table.” This translates into a non-secured loan for 1 year from the lender to the Buyer (read your lender’s fine print regarding exclusions).
