I've just attended my first black tie event leading up to the party season and I was very pleased to meet Maureen Bramham, one of our regular customers, who I must say was turned out beautifully.

All the ladies at the event had made a special effort for this glamorous occasion. The trend for the men seemed to be dinner jackets with coloured bow ties, all very daring indeed. I opted for a classic slim black tie.

One accessory that I think would have been very useful for some of the ladies would have been a shawl or wrap, giving them an extra layer to wrap around their shoulders on arrival and adding an extra splash of glamour. My favourite has to be the Pure & Simple pashmina with beaded fringing.

Plus, also check out Dream Keeper's beautifully embellished shawls. They have a vintage feel to them which will allow you to arrive at your festive celebrations looking fabulous and also avoid any cloakroom queue when it comes to carriages home.

Love Glen x

<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/5PZAdyVdlPE" height="1" width="1" />

My first love is fashion but I also have a passion for food and cooking, so on the back of last weekend I just thought I would let you know how my prep and sample recipes are going for the Christmas period. I prepared these mussels (below) on Saturday evening with a view to serving them for family and friends on Christmas Eve.

Here’s my recipe...

Sautée one banana shallot in unsalted butter. Once soft and translucent add a diced knuckle of ginger, half a chopped chilli and one chopped clove of garlic.

After a couple of minutes add a glass of crisp dry white wine, bring to the boil add your scrubbed and de-bearded mussels (make sure they are all closed before you put them in) put the lid on and steam until all the mussels are open. This should take around four to five minutes.

Remove mussels from liquor, discarding any that have not opened. Add a tin or carton of coconut cream, half a tablespoon of mild curry powder, one squeezed fresh lime and bring to a rapid boil for one minute. Then reduce the heat, add mussels and stir gently to combine the mussels and sauce.

Add a good handful of chopped coriander and then put your mussels into a serving bowl adding more fresh coriander and half a chopped red chilli. Serve with coriander and garlic naan bread for soaking up all those lovely juices.

This dish has definitely made the Christmas recipe list, the whole family loved them!

How are your Christmas preparations coming along?

Love Glen x
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/eSp6YdWGS8s" height="1" width="1" />

So what will you be wearing on Christmas day this year?

Debbie F: Oh hopefully something smaller than I’m wearing right now! Diet Chef is on the horizon!!

Jilly: Hopefully PJs until at least 1pm!

Debbie G: An apron as I spend so much time cooking!

Alison Y: I don't dress up on Christmas Day - I'm running round like crazy. So I start in jodhpurs and pretty much stay in jodhpurs. I'll also be wearing odd socks with holes in guaranteed, unless someone has bought me new socks and then I'll be wearing those.

It will be a pretty natural make-up day too, though just before everyone comes round I'll add a quick little slick of Laura Geller or a little lipgloss so I don't look quite as flustered as I feel.

Have you made any festive fashion mistakes you'd rather forget?

Alison K: I couldn't possibly comment as they've been while wearing 'gifts' from various members of my family!

Claudia: Most years! I always over dress for Christmas. No one ever says anything but they probably think 'Oh my, here comes the bauble' - I love Christmas!

Anthony: No - I'm a style guru!

Catherine: I don’t think so but then again I’m rather partial to the odd fashion faux pas! I have made many in my time. Back in my dancing days I escaped having to wear the most embarrassing costume ever., but some of my friends weren't so lucky - they had to dress as Christmas puddings... we still laugh about it to this day!

The costumes were huge, several feet wide, and the dancers were made to puff their cheeks out whilst tap dancing. It was for a Christmas Spectacular show at Thursford Steam Museum. Funniest thing!

Simon: Many I'm sure but none that I care to mention - and all the photos seem to have been destroyed! Haha.

Anne: Probably, but you'd have to ask my family, and 'Chez Dawson' is not noted for its sense of fashion (which is probably just as well). I do however remember having long flouncy sleeves which caught fire when I was cooking one year!
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/YN7FYyIJe8o" height="1" width="1" />

I am a size 20 (22 - 24 in coats and dresses) and I would like to buy a dress for myself but am a good old-fashioned 'apple' with a large chest. I like the look of the Tiana B range but am not sure which dress would be suitable for me, also being a big girl patterns and striped frighten me, and I don't want to look too old fashioned which is what usually happens if I buy from high street stores.

I am so pleased that you like the look of the Tiana B range, I love these dresses. With the dress being a key look this season its well worth buying into this trend, as far as being a full figured girl you shouldn’t be afraid of prints.

What I would suggest is, if you would like to dip your toes into the Tiana B range you could opt for the Tiana B pleated dress (right). It has a splash of colour in the form of embroidery around the neckline which gives you the option to pull out one of the colours to work with your accessories. I suggest you try the 2XL which should be a relaxed comfortable shape on you whilst still being flattering.

Another suggestion would be to bite the bullet and try the Tiana B paisley printed dress. It's a combination of red and black paisley with a black trim around the v-neck, cuffs and hem and will look great teamed with opaque black tights, or to dress it up opt for sheer ones.

Do let me know how you get on Alison.

I have ordered a Centigrade faux fur coat from Monday's evening show on special offer (124613), but unfortunately when it came in a medium it was like a tent on me, even though I am usually a size 14. Would the smallest size fit me or would it be too big? I'm 5ft 7", 35DD, have a 27" waist and 35" hips. Lesley.

Unfortunately I think the small size in the Centigrade coat will still be too big which is a shame as it’s a fab winter warmer. I normally recommend adding around five - six inches to your normal bust size to achieve a good silhouette, so with that in mind I think you should take a look at faux shearling coat (left) - this is one of my favourite Centigrade coats.

It’s a shorter length than the one you initially ordered but will still do the job of keeping you as warm as toast. On the plus side this coat is unbelievably chic and looks extremely expensive especially in the Taupe and Chocolate. Hope this is of help to you.

Love Glen x

<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/GVQuyjGUSDw" height="1" width="1" />

After my first Christmas gift show last Saturday, I'm really getting into the Christmas spirit! On the train home I started to think about our Christmas menu and decided that when I got home I would start to experiment with the starter….

Here’s what I came up with - a gazpacho base with a white crab meat centre, topped with avocado guacamole and deep-fried Japanese bread-crumbed king prawns. It's then finished with a drizzle of mango vinaigrette with groundnut oil, ginger, chilli and lime juice. What do you think?! There's a photo on the right, but it's not that clear sorry!I tested the recipe out on my son Ali who gave the thumbs up. I'll let you know how the menu progresses!

In the meantime if you fancy a fashion fix catch the Fashion Gift show at 12 o’clock tomorrow - I'll be with you with some Style Inc and also Deerstag slippers. Also look out for the Pure & Simple Pashminas as they make fabulous Christmas gifts for loved ones.

I'd love to know what you'll be cooking over the festive period, let me know what you're doing and we can inspire each other!

Love glen x

<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/PDDxNfmhCNQ" height="1" width="1" />

We have some great Indigo Moon shows coming up today and tomorrow (2nd and 3rd November), and as it's their 7th anniversary, everything is going to be at Anniversary Price! So you can pick up some fab pieces for Christmas at a bargain price!

I caught up with our Indigo Moon guest, Denise, to have a chat about the fashion range and about the lady herself...

What's your favourite part about coming to QVC and do you have a favourite presenter you like to work with?

The best bit about coming to QVC is that it's like a home-coming - it's just one big family. The sense of belonging is overwhelming. All the presenters are fab! I particularly like the fact I can chat to all of them, have a moan and have a laugh, which we do, often!

Have you got any style tips for the festive party season?

First and foremost choose a colour you love and feel empowered in - it is most important. Red is an obvious choice, closely followed by purples and teals - any jewel colour is really good and very rich and Christmassy.

What do you want to be under your Christmas tree this year?

How lovely it is on Christmas morning to wake up and finally open gifts that have been tantalising you for days! This year we shall be 'Down Under' so who knows? Maybe a bikini!

What can we expect from the collections on Monday and Tuesday?

The range has really developed since I came on board, I can't believe I am saying that because Indigo Moon is so varied anyway. But Julia continues to surprise us with such gorgeous fabrics and spectacular colours and embellishments. The Monday and Tuesday shows are full of exquisite jackets and must-have jersey wear.

Tell us a little about what makes Indigo Moon special

Indigo Moon has the X factor. It somehow has that edge over other brands. I think it's to do with the fact that Julia (the designer) was an artist and that gives us a unique slant on fashion that you simply can't get on the high street.

I hope you can join me for the shows today at 11am, 4pm and 9pm and Tuesday at 10am and 6pm.

Love Denise AKA 'Miss Moon' xx

Is it just me or is the X Factor meant to be a singing competition? I sat for the first time this weekend and watched both shows - it was a travesty that the great performers in the bottom two had to sing for their supper. At the end of the show on Sunday evening I vowed never ever to sit through that again, how do you feel about it?

How do you manage your weekend viewing, do you surf between QVC and your other favourite channels or do you wait for breaks?

On a fashion point, I ordered a pair of black patent Clarks loafers for my lovely wife Sue last week, which by the way are adored by the girls at Grazia and Vogue (they've said that the Clarks loafer is one of the coolest around).

When Sue received her parcel she was very pleased and now a week later has decided to order another pair of the same for work, as they are unbelievably comfortable and work well with her cropped trousers, shift dresses and opaque tights.

The second pair is for the weekends with her skinny jeans and oversized knitwear. I have always said if you find something you like don’t be afraid of buying more than one, for example I have at least eight navy blue cardigans all from the same shop and all exactly the same style.
Do you have more than one of the same item? Let me know.

Love Glen

x
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/_0uc8DdJ5VU" height="1" width="1" />

Coming to work at QVC is a real pleasure. I have so many favourite bits but the great family atmosphere and warm friendly people I work with have to be the best parts.

Tell us about a normal day at work...

I arrive at QVC an hour before the live show. In that time I normally get my cuppa and sit in the model room and finalise my hair and make-up. There's usually another model on air with me so a good catch-up happens about now too!

Have you had any funny or embarrassing moments live on air?

The time when Alison Young fell over and broke her wrist was awful...guess whose leg she was spraying with fake tan at the time! Yep, me! Didn't know quite what to do at the time but she was amazing and carried on like the true professional she is. It wasn't until after we realised she had actually broken it! Brave girl!

Are there any presenters you love working with?

All the presenters are lovely but I must say when I work with Dale I am laughing most of the time! Kathy and Simon are a great couple on the Morning Show, Claire's a real girlie like me, then there's Debbie Greenwood who's also so very funny. Oh gosh, I could go on to mention everyone really, because they all bring a certain charm to their shows don't they?

How would you describe your style?

My style varies from day to day depending on the mood I'm in and what I'm doing. Of course I love fashion and do like to dip into all the current trends. I don't think women should limit themselves to a certain look. Why would you when there's so much choice out there?

Experimenting is the key, I do all the time. At the moment I'm looking forward to wearing all the gorgeous winter fashion - coats, hats and boots.

I believe in dressing up every day - it makes you feel better. I'm definitely not a minimalist, I love putting it all on and being glamorous. Woman are looking better and younger nowadays and we all need to celebrate our looks and curves whatever they are. GIRL POWER, YEAH!

Do you have any favourite QVC brands?

It has a great weight that will work right the way through the winter season as well as being chic, stylish and comfortable. You'll be able to throw it into the washing machine so no specialist dry cleaning bills! The price is a very affordable too - wow did you think I was going to spoil the surprise?!

Nicky is most well known for presenting the hit show 10 Years Younger, and she now runs her own personal styling business.

What are your top tips for being confident and stylish?

1. Understand your shape - Instead of trying to create a look that will never work you need to accept your shape and really make the most of it.

2. Choose pieces to emphasise your waistline - Create a focal point to balance your figure, making you look taller, slimmer and sexier.

3. Don’t over complicate things - Magazines tend to give you complex end looks and if you try to replicate these you can end up as a fashion victim. Instead make sure your wardrobe features plenty of good well-cut basics, strong colours and statement accessories.

What will you be wearing this winter?

Maternity wear! Bold colours such as reds, pinks and emeralds are big this autumn. The tailored look is also a big trend. Tailoring makes you feel sexy and works for any age as it moulds to your curves. Cropped trousers, skirts and skirt suits are also timeless.

What are your ‘cannot live without’ wardrobe basics?

Coats – I love coats and have loads of them. They may go over your outfit but they are the item of clothing that everyone sees so it’s important to have a good coat whether it’s a belted mac or a coat that I add a belt to.

Dresses - My wardrobe is full of them - they instantly make you feel more feminine and a jersey drape dress is so easy to throw on and wear.

The party season is coming up, how should we be dressing?

The little black dress look is a bit dull and everyone does it. Make an impact with scarlet and bold coloured dresses. Sequins are also big if you are brave enough! Go for an all-over sequin dress or try black leggings or trousers with a cami and a sequined tuxedo jacket.

What are your top make-up tips for this season?

Gothic is in fashion so go for smoky eyes or red lips – go for one or the other, never combine the two. If you're going for the heavy smoky look, try browns and purples as they are softer than black. If you're wearing a classic black dress go for bright red lipstick and mascara.

Remember to tune in for our three-day Get Gorgeous event from 10pm tonight. You'll find a fabulous mix of fashion, beauty and jewellery - everything you need for a stylish winter!

Love Glen x

I love the UK, for I feel very much at home here. Having come here often as a child and young adult, I never feel like a stranger. I love the shopping, the beautiful parks and the sense of history that one feels when walking along the streets.

What outerwear trends are hot this autumn and winter?

Faux fur is one of the strongest trends on the fashion front, along with fabric that has a touch of metallic - very much like my Today's Special Value.

How did you get into fashion design?

My whole life fashion has always been my career focus. Even as a little boy, I was often sketching or creating things that were connected to the world of fashion.

If you weren't a designer, what do you think you would be doing instead?

If I weren't a designer, I think I'd be in show business.

Whose style do you admire?

Some of the great women of our time whose style I admire are Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, CZ Guest, Babe Paley, Nan Kempner and Princess Diana.

Tell us a bit about your Today's Special Value coat coming up on Sunday.

Today's Special Value is a reversible coat that has faux sheared mink on one side and a fabulous water-resistant fabric on the other. This coat is glamorous, sophisticated and practical.

Tune in for Fashion Day this Sunday for a full day of shows dedicated to this season's essentials, including Dennis Basso's unmissable faux fur coat. It's reversible, so you get two glamorous looks in one!

See Dennis Basso's full range.
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/dGahuQDDogo" height="1" width="1" />

Well we have the solution - don't miss our Today's Special Value on Friday 18th September.

I can't say too much, but it has a snug and cosy faux-fur lining that can be removed when the weather is a little warmer - perfect for autumn and winter!

As it seems that summer is well and truly behind us, I've started to think about this season's outerwear. I've chosen my top picks here, and there are styles to suit all shapes and tastes...

For chic style...

It has to be Centigrade's tailored coat. I love its classic shape - it's elegant, flattering and very chic. It's versatile too - it can be worn to work, out shopping or over an evening outfit.

For a flattering look...

Go for Dennis Basso's water-resistant mac and scarf. It's a great piece for larger ladies as it has a classic A-line swing shape that flatters your figure.

It's fully lined in an on-trend animal print and comes with a matching scarf - an essential style accessory that keeps out the cold too! Oh, and it's water-resistant too, so you don't have to worry about the rain.

For on-trend detailing...

Check out this faux leopard-print coat from Dennis Basso. Animal print is still going strong through autumn and winter, but it doesn't have to be head-to-toe. Go for a subtle touch of animal print with this cosy faux-fur coat. It features faux animal-print fur around the collar and cuffs, so you can wear the trend without feeling like a fashion victim.

For practical comfort...

Try this hooded coat from Centigrade. I like it as it's practical and a good old winter warmer. It combines warmth and comfort with style, and it features the on-trend animal print detailing. It's great for walking the dog, picking up the kids, shopping and everything in between. A good all-rounder!

We have a huge range of coats, jackets and macs so if you're not keen on my picks you can check out the whole selection QVC has to offer.

Wrap up warm!

Love Glen x

<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GlenCampbellStyleFile/~4/awt00_ihqaA" height="1" width="1" />

With autumn just around the corner, what tips do you have for getting our wardrobes ready?

I love autumn fashions and each season I enjoy scheduling a 'date with my wardrobe' for taking stock of what I already own, purging those worn-out and washed-out items and making a list of what I need.

With my wardrobe thinned out, it’s much easier to shop without spending too much or buying a duplicate of something I already own. I would encourage everyone to check their calendars and schedule a date with their wardrobes, making it easier to pull together your autumn shopping list!!

2. How do we update our wardrobe for the new season on a budget?

I’ve spent years showing women how to create the illusion of a limitless wardrobe on a limited budget and have been practicing these habits for over a decade myself...

Start with the basics. Fill your closet with classic pieces in neutral colours that will serve as great layering basics - trousers, button-down tops, turtlenecks and tank tops should be collected in a variety of colours that look great on you. They’ll never go out of style and you’ll need to start with these as the blank canvas when introducing those must-haves each season.

Now you’ve built your foundation, it's time to start having fun! Flip through fashion magazines, watch QVC’s fashion shows and learn what the trends are for the current season. Figure out which trends will look the best on you, and most importantly, which ones you love the most. Then SHOP! (but always with a list!).

Plan your outfits. After picking up a few new items for the season, you should plan all the different ways to wear them to create the illusion of a limitless wardrobe. When I buy something new, I try to create at least three outfits for that new piece, writing each one down in full detail. I find this helps me get the most wear out of everything I own. Try this simple technique and you should never have to utter the dreaded phrase “I have nothing to wear!”

3. What will be in your wardrobe this season?

I love the latest trend in leggings. Yes, I’m a product of the 80s and wore them daily over two decades ago, and I still can’t seem to pass them up. Check out the fabric in the leggings I’ve designed for autumn. They're supple enough to hide any figure flaws yet thick enough to still look professional if you want to wear them to the office. They’re simply an autumn must-have for me!

4. What colours should we look out for?

Neutrals are playing an important role with designers - grey has been getting quite a bit of attention in the press, showcased as either a classic matte, or for those daring at heart, in a chic metallic finish.

This year’s hottest fashion colours are deep pink and warm berry shades. Many designers are working with shades of pink ranging from 80s neon fuchsia to conservative berry tones in deep pink or rich purple.

5. In the UK the autumn weather is so unpredictable, it could be sunny one minute and raining the next, do you have any tips for beating the elements?

I think it’s so important to dress in layers during the more unpredictable months. Throw a sleek blazer over a basic white button-down or wrap a beautiful knit scarf around your neck for both warmth and a fashion statement.

You can join Kim on QVC TV on Saturday 5th September at 12pm and 7pm, and if you can't wait, check out her range now.

I would love to wear scarves but I just feel and look like a trussed turkey up top.&nbsp; Any suggestions please?</strong></P>
<P><strong>Jan Kitching </strong></P>
<P><br>Hi Jan,<br><br>For you and all other the top-heavy girls out there you can sometimes get stuck in a rut and stick with one style.&nbsp; There isn’t a problem with V-neck tops but what I would suggest is you try layering in contrasting colours. </P>
<P>For example a red v-neck top underneath a black v-neck cardigan - you should fasten two or three buttons around your bust allowing a splash of red to come out at the top and bottom.&nbsp;The darker cardigan will reduce the bust while the splash of colour will draw the eye in. </P>
<P><A style="FLOAT: right" href="http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.136797"><img class="at-xid-6a00e54eff270488340120a52af19d970b " title="Boat neck top from Nina Leonard" style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 5px 5px" alt="Boat neck top from Nina Leonard" src="http://blogs.qvcuk.com/.a/6a00e54eff270488340120a52af19d970b-120wi"></A> You should also play around with <A href="http://search.qvcuk.com/QVCUK/Search.ff?query=cowl+neck+tops&amp;cm_re=PAGE-_-SEARCH-_-SEARCH">cowl necks</A>, <A href="http://search.qvcuk.com/QVCUK/Search.ff?query=boat+neck+tops&amp;cm_re=PAGE-_-SEARCH-_-SEARCH">boat necks</A> or any other top that has detailing around the shoulders and neckline.&nbsp;Take a look at the <A href="http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.html/params.file.%7Cframes%7CClasFrameU017,html/walk.yah.UKFA-U017?cm_re=PAGE-_-BRANDSHOPS-_-KIMCO">Kim &amp; Co</A> range, she has over a hundred tops for you to look at. </P>
<P>As far as scarves go they are still a hot trend that you should work with.&nbsp; As far as feeling trussed up you should be wrapping the scarf around your neck and tying it in a loose knot at the front. Once you have done that put your hand in the loop around your neck and give it a wiggle to loosen the effect so that you can see the length of your neck with the folds of fabric draping loosely. </P>
<P>Hope this helps&nbsp;Jan,</P>
<P>Love Glen x<br><br>For Glen's suggestions, you can check out our <A href="http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.nav/params.class.ukfa/walk.yah.ukfa?cm_re=mh-_-FashionAccessories-_-FashionAccessories">fashion range</A>.</P></div>

Did you enjoy fashion day as much as I did? It was fun to sit and watch at home for a change, just to see how the collections looked on screen. Drop me a line if it kick-started your autumn wardrobe last week. And what were your choice buys?

Kim Mendleson is in the UK right now and if you're relatively new to QVC I thought I better let you know that she is one of our most favourite - she brings versatility, ease of wear and comfort to the Kim & Co range.

The simple-chic and luxurious range of bags have a subtle elegance that is easy to wear and never ostentatious - true timeless classics.

Lastly I've posted a couple of my holiday pictures from the beautiful Cornwall (above and right).
