With rising food costs, continually growing children and a husband who is becoming increasingly concerned with our grocery bill, I’ve decided to give this blog one last go. I’ve also finally decided to “come out with it” and spill the beans. No more anonymity. I had a hard time getting excited about it and sticking with it under a pseudonym. So no more of that.

What this blog/project needs is a good dose of personal touch. I’ll be sharing more about my trips to the grocery store, savings, menus and recipes made with sale items and that sort of thing. As I learn about saving money and coupons I’ll share what I learn so that you can save money, too.

Another way that I save money on our grocery bill is by purchasing nearly all of our produce from an organic co-op. It’s true that I could probably spend less money on produce at the store, but I’d probably also buy less and certainly none of it would be organic. Eating healthy is important to me, so joining the co-op is one way I can meet that need without spending an arm and a leg. I’ll share more about that later, but the items we receive in our share each delivery will play a big role in choosing our menu plan for the week and choosing which sale items to purchase.

At the moment, I have essentially no stock pile of dry goods accumulated, though I have in the past. And that’s something else I need to work on as we go.

So here it is, my 2011 commitment to lowering our grocery bill. Are you in?
