To copy and paste between Gliffy Diagrams in your Confluence pages or JIRA issues:

* This presumes you have both a Gliffy Diagram you wish you copy content from and a diagram (can be blank) you wish to paste content to (destination diagram)
If you do not have the destination diagram created yet, please do that before beginning the steps.
1 – Edit the document you wish to copy content from

2 – Select the items to copy, then Click Edit–>Copy or Edit–>Select All to copy the content

3 – Click File–>Open to open the document you wish to paste into

4 – Click Edit–>Paste to paste the content into the destination document
**Note: This will only work in the same browser tab. It will not work across browser tabs or browser windows.**

Many teams use this to implement Templates for colleagues.

That said, you probably wanted to give Gliffy’s floor plan software a shot before taking it to this level. It’s free, so if you want to get the tattoo afterwards, you’re not going to be any more in the red.

I mean, what if you want to move? Are you going to need to pay an architect to redesign your arm?

I wish that this was the worst example of body art available on the site F**k No Tattoos, but it is not, not by a long shot.

This, however, may be the worst flowchart I’ve seen. And they say health insurance reform is confusing. Pfft. Not when you have handy charts like this! Thank you Congress!

So then, to properly educate you budding flowchart creators and you tenacious followers of diagram pathways, here is a classic flowchart. It asks, and answers, one of mankind’s enduring questions:

This, of course, is the work of Drew, creator of the web comic Toothpaste for Dinner. If you feel the overwhelming urge to wear this simple-yet-intensely-true message on your chest, there is a t-shirt for that.

I know that you — a flowchart and diagram aficionado — have been reading this blog and thinking, “I could make something as good as what they’re featuring here.”

Well, of course you could! It’s as easy as connecting the dots, all you need is an idea and an internet connection.

Gliffy is not only free to try and use directly through your web browser, there are actually rewards for giving the software a go. Yep, that’s right! Your creation could be featured on this blog where it’s sure to become viral and make you as famous as this guy.

All you have to do is sign in to Gliffy, create your flowchart, and then click the “blog & share this diagram” button in the upper right corner. That will give you the option to make your creation public. Once you do, just copy the link it gives you into the comments on this blog. I’ll check out your creations and post the ones that make the cut. If you include your email / web address, we may even do a little feature on you, too.

This is a standing offer. Good flowcharts deserve an audience like you, especially if they’re created by an audience like you!

Sometimes it’s the simplest advice that rings most true — even when it’s the hardest to enact.

This flowchart, a collaboration between H34DUP and David Meiklejohn of Budget Fabulous Films, gets straight to the point. Are you happy?

On Blog.H34, the artist talks about how they decided to leave the final arrow off — the one that would make this process a loop. If the flow is a finite journey it feels more optimistic. When the flow is circular, you’re reminded of how endless the search for contentment can be. It’s “keep trying to be happy” vs. “happiness within reach”. One arrow makes the difference.

Maybe they put that last arrow in originally but it didn’t make them happy. So they changed something.

There are prints of this for sale if you want one above your desk for constant inspiration.

It isn’t quite as easy as one-two-three, though, if you’re talking about seeing your pretty face on TV. Sure, you could get lucky (or vastly unlucky) and get noticed by some local news station. But to really break through — and we’re talking international, multi-channel, written-in-history type television stardom — you need more.

Matt Gorman adds this flowchart of the Talking Heads’ song Once in a Lifetime into the mix (see earlier post). A late entry, sure, but we like what we see, Matt.

I think he forgot to add in the head-tapping, shoulder shaking, spasmodic gloriousness that is David Byrne’s dancing, tho!

Today we wake up to find the web awash in pop music flowcharts. The latest is Hey Jude by Tumblr I Love All This.

Naturally, this one is inspired by Jeanie’s example, charting the flow of Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart.

What’s next, I wonder? Do we have a meme? Personally, I want to see someone do this for Surfin’ Bird.

And while we’re on about Bonnie Tyler, if you haven’t seen the literal video version of Total Eclipse of the Heart, you really need to get on that.

He also runs the Ministry of Secret Jokes, which is no laughing matter. Seriously, they’ll stab you in the eye. For fun.

I’d seen his stuff before, but a friend sent me his chart mapping out the types of Heavy Metal Band Names and I realized I better do a feature on him. All of these excellent flowcharts appeared on the Comic vs. Audience website.

Are they all actually metal bands? Well, no. This is one way in which humor is created. Watch carefully boys and girls. Doogie instructs by example. Did you maybe want to be a comic when you grew up? Luckily, there’s a chart to help with that. (Are you easily offended? Um. Maybe you should stop reading here.)

But wait! There’s more. Just because something isn’t funny doesn’t mean you can’t tell jokes about it. That would be wasting an opportunity for schadenfreude.

And last, but certainly not least likely to upset people who don’t like to hear foul language or think about the making of the love, we’ve got my favorite. Things to Say During Sex is a helpful guide on how to articulate your passion. If you’re a comedian. Try them all! Let us know how it works out for you! (Not responsible for actual results).

Doogie Horner made all these flowcharts back in 2008. Since then, he’s obviously been busy doing other things. Like stabbing people in the eye. Maybe if we all ask real nice he’ll make a new flowchart for us to post here? or at Comic vs. Audience? You can find contact info for him over at the Ministry.

The first is from Christene Barberich, Piera Gelardi and Joshua Covarrubias, writing and designing for Refinery 29. They’re poking fun of Scott Schuman whom you might better know as the Sartorialist. In case you’re not a fashionista, the Sartorialist posts photos on his popular blog of people wearing interesting outfits. Being featured is a bit of a coup for a certain sort.

I will never be featured on the Sartorialist, but you might, and your chances might be better if you use this guide.

The second flowchart is a bit more charged. It covers the arguments for and against gay marriage, as seen by Patrick Farley — someone who supports gay marriage (as I do personally). Regardless of how you feel on this issue, you have to admire his work; this chart of for/against clashes might as easily be tracking troop movements in a guerrilla skirmish.

I have to note here that while I’m happy to discuss political issues on my own time, that’s not what this blog is about. We’re here to look at flowcharts.
