This month's GoSee gallery event is so exciting. "Artisanal Delights: Art Meets Food" will blend the fabulous paintings of Jennifer McHugh with the amazing gourmet chocolate of Caxao Chocolates. I love any reason to have exquisite chocolates on display, for tasting and for sale. Everything is better with chocolate!!
When Jill brought this painting into the gallery, I just fell in love with it. Jill is able to capture the essence of what she is painting with detail and simplicity. She delicately builds up the layers of watercolor and then adds just the right amount of detail to "describe" her subject matter. Her color palette is so perfect that the painting seems to sing. Jill's work is beautiful up close and from afar. Let me tell you that that is not easy feat, yet Jill seems to achieve it effortlessly.
Her show is up until November 16th. If you are in San Diego or Souther California, this show is worth coming in to see.

We had a wonderful GoSee opening this past Saturday with Jill Rosoff's
gorgeous watercolors. Glimpse is a riot of color and beauty. We had
fresh cut flowers as a lovely juxtaposition to Jill's stunning
watercolor bouquets. Jill's work fills the heart with joy! Her tapestry
series is so spectacular in its detail, just yummy. I love the delicacy
of her bouquet series. You feel like you can touch her flowers!

I am so excited to be debuting my first product design for the home.
To me home is about unique joy and each person has a different voice.I
have designed a feature display element that has the ability to speak in
many voices. I named them Suspended Disks. These clean and contemporary elements allow for a dynamic visual display in any room or act as a side table or night stand.
The Suspended Disk allows you to display featured collectibles in your home effortlessly and with style. Another incredible use for these discs are as side tables or night stands. Why not suspend your side table instead of taking up precious floor space? The discs will also be a statement piece in any living room as a floating side table even if your home is spacious.

I am excited to announce a new monthly gallery opening series at Glimpse. It is named the GoSee at Glimpse.
Each month I will curate a fantastic show for emerging and mid-career
artists. I love art and everything about it. Early on in my career I
worked at art galleries and have always had a passion for art history
and art study. By owning Glimpse I am now able to share that love with
the world.
I found these fun little Garden in a Bags,
completely eco-friendly, organic and really neat too. You can grow herbs
right in the bag. I thought that would be so cool. I am growing a
feathery dill and this is a photo of the progress. (approx 2 weeks after
planting)
You just cut the top off, plant the seeds, water and cover with a plastic bag until the seed sprout. Talk about nurturing your seeds! It was fun to check each day to see if they have sprouted.
The flavors I have are feathery dill, chives, dog grass, catnip, and thinking of you.
I had the joy of heading up to Laguna this week, such a gorgeous part
of California! I was going to take a glimpse of the beautiful work by
Jill Rosoff of Rosoff Artworks.
Jill is a watercolor artist of extraordinary talent. You may think of
watercolor as a washed out blend of pale colors on paper, but let me
tell you Jill's work is leagues ahead of that!

Have you ever awoken in the morning the sound of the birds singing?
Sat on you patio and heard the wind sail through the trees? Enjoyed the
distant sound of children playing?
Our sense of sound is so important to us. We get to enjoy and experience so much through our hearing. I just love hearing the subtlety and nuances of certain music.One of my most favorite places to be is out on my back deck. We have a fish pond with a waterfall that cascades and make the most beautiful music. At certain moments the wind kicks up and makes my wind chimes sing. I stop reading for a moment just listen to the song.

I absolutely love Jennifer McHugh's work. I
am starting to sound like a broken record with all of my love flowing
around, yet it is true. When you see Jennifer's work it is filled with
such joy that you can't help but love it!
This is what Jennifer says about her work: "True bliss is finding harmony and letting life live through you in a way that makes you come alive. This is how I feel when I paint...it's my passion. Many people think that they will suddenly stumble upon their 'bliss' or passion, but I believe you must search for it. event at Glimpse on Saturday August 20th from 1-5. Come out and enjoy

Do you know how certain books seem to change your life? Well, that
happened to me when I picked up Brent Kessel's book "It's not about the
Money". My whole life I have had a push-me-pull-me relationship with
money, and it seems that I am not the only one with this issue. There
are so many books out there about money, how to get more, how to save
more, how to create more, etc, etc, etc. The key word always seemed to
be "more". I was looking for the answers as to why I had this push-pull
relationship with money, not just a "more" issue.
I just met with the fabulous ceramic artist, Barry Gillen, whose debut
show will be hosted at Glimpse in September. I am so excited to be
showing Barry's work in the shop. He works with clay in a way that I
have never seen before.
OK, it is official. I just fell in love with the two new pieces Jan Lord,
one of "my" artists here at Glimpse, just brought in. Jan has created
two paintings based on her love of Vancouver. They are entitled "Vancouver
Eve" (left) and "Vancouver Morn" (right). I love her use of texture, the repetition
of the circles and the colors!

When I had my logo redesigned for Glimpse, I wanted it to burst forth
with JOY. The minute someone looked at our logo, I wanted them to be
washed with festive exuberance. The idea of "joy" is what created
Glimpse in its current incarnation... full of color and life.

I have a funny story to share with you. This past summer I was
introduced to Beauty and the Bath's Intention Soaps. I was looking to
release or "surrender" to a certain situation so I purchased a bar of
"Surrender" soap from Joy , the owner and creator of Beauty and the
Bath. I went home and was so excited to use the soap and "surrender" or
release this situation.
These soaps come with a burlap bag that you place the soap into with the thought to "wash away" the old and usher in the intention of the soap. I realized that a week after using the "surrender" soap I was repeatedly being "brought to my knees" so to speak with situations I had to surrender to right then and there. Not just the first situation, but so many more that I had to cry "Uncle". I went back to Joy and asked her if I could purchase the "Joy" and "Triumphant" soaps immediately!!!!
These widows, single moms, grandmothers and
students in Zambia, Africa crochet bags and purses from recycled plastic bags. 
Art is an important component of Glimpse. I hang it in the shop as I would in a home. It completes the space and complements what is around it. I love to combine contemporary art with more representational work like water colors or old photos. To me it makes the space more interesting.
In reading one of my favorite magazines this month, "whole living body + soul in balance", I was thrilled to read an article about "Flourishing". Just that word along makes me smile.
We had our first Tea and Conversation this past Saturday and what fun I had. My thought was to create a monthly event where I could connect with new people, sample different teas and share inspiring conversation. That is exactly what happened!
When I opened Glimpse I knew I wanted to blend
my love of tea and connect with other people. Halcyon Tea seemed like the
perfect place to select the ‘tea’ component. I have been purchasing tea from Halcyon Tea
for quite a while. James, the owner of
Halcyon, features high quality tea in a gorgeous environment. Each month James will
select a tea that pairs well with the season to be featured for Tea and
Conversation at Glimpse.
Glimpse only carries natural products and let me tell you why..... About 10
years ago, I felt pretty awful most of the time. I decided to look at my life
and see what might need to change for the better. Within my field of Interior
Design I began reading about the phenomenon of "sick building syndrome".
Green Design and Eco-friendly were blossoming as well. This made me pause and
go "Hmmmmmm, how is this affecting my life?"

Glimpse has many forms of stones, crystals
and geodes for sale. I have been drawn to them for the last 20 years. You can
look around my office and see them on every surface—amethyst, Brazilian quartz
clusters, jade, sunstone, ametrine, agates, celestite, rose quartz, calcite and
selenite, to name just a few. I really have not met a stone I don't like!
I have been asked why they are in the store. How do they fit into my philosophy of offering mindful products that engage the 5 senses? To answer those questions, I will don, in turn, three favorite hats.

My journey began about 10 years ago while working as an interior
designer and loving my chosen career. It looked as if I had it all,
living in a lovely house, in an incredible part of the country with my
wonderful husband and great child. Although I looked as if I had joy on
the outside, I was craving joy on the inside while suffering from
numerous illnesses and just not happy.
