April Snow Brings Headshots & Preschools

After a couple of headshot-heavy months, April has been something of a transition – still a lot of headshots but also kicking off the preschool season! Only one school this month, to ease me into the craziness of next month which will be almost entirely preschool-filled.

Here’s just one of the recent preschool cuties. He had the biggest blue eyes and the cutest lips.

This lovely lady came in for the headshot mini-sessions and suggested that she wasn’t very photogenic. Ha! While I was editing her photos, I realized she reminded me a bit of Lynda Carter. She ended up really liking the results from our quick shoot and these are the images she selected.

Winter Family Photos

Stephanie came to see me for some business headshots after having a not-so-great experience somewhere else. One of the things my headshot clients mention often is how much they enjoy the laid-back, stress-free experience once they get to the shoot – especially people who were dreading it ahead of time. So I was looking forward to renewing Stephanie’s faith in the headshot process and we ended up having a good time and getting some great shots that she loves!

Lazy Morning Slice of Life

Slice of Life sessions are something I really believe in and really want to do more of. The idea behind them is to pick a favorite family time and have it documented – family dinners or baking cookies or doing projects or having breakfast or anything that, right now, seems to be a daily part of life but 5 or 10 years down the line will only be a favorite memory. There’s no posing or directing, just documenting your real life and your little moments.

Jen wanted to capture lazy morning snuggles with her family, followed by a pancake breakfast, which is such a perfect Slice of Life theme and I was so excited to do it. Coming home and going through the photos, I was even more excited. So many little details and perfect examples of real, daily life. The session images are going to make an amazing album, just as soon as I can figure out how to include all the photos that I love. I tried to pare it down a bit to share here. Snuggles and baby kisses and jumping on the bed and shields and hatchets and little soldiers and messy bedheads and custom letter pancakes and singing with Dad and a mini family circus, all before noon. I just love it.

Minneapolis Headshot Party

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Janelle (she’s behind the great project that is Minneapolis 81…and will hopefully be reviving it soon!) contacted me and asked if I’d be willing to do a headshot party. I had taken her headshot previously and she had some friends who were also looking to get updated headshots. How could I say no?

So Janelle invited her friends and on a Sunday afternoon, put out a table full of snacks, and we set up camp in her living room, in front of a big picture window and did some headshots! I think everyone agreed that it was a pretty fun concept – a good chance to visit with friends and an opportunity to get an updated photo. I know *I* had fun.

I’d love to do some more headshot parties! Let me know if you’ve can gather at least three other folks interested in discounted headshots and we can set one up!

Minneapolis Headshots

Last week, I attended a third anniversary party for Fabuliss, a Twin Cities based image consulting service, and offered headshots to the attendees. The event was held at Raku Sushi & Lounge | West End and they were so gracious in letting me set up my lights right inside their entryway door. Thankfully, they had a wall that was painted a perfect shade of gray for a headshot backdrop! And really, headshots and sushi…how can you go wrong?

Here are just a few of the lovely ladies that I photographed that evening.
