Finally got my ass back in front of the camera the other day. My pregnancy blogging plans aren't going as well as planned. Turns out that my last trimester is draining my energy much faster (while increasing my appetite much more) than I thought. Annnddddddd my body temperature is as hot as ever, which translates to extreme sweat fest (I was blessed with moderate wind when I took these photos, God tells me that the blog needs an update). The sweat fest creates headache and sticky hair strands on the face ain't pretty for the camera. Not sure how much more I can still update until my due date here, but I hope that you'll still be my lovely readers ;)

Months ago (or perhaps even almost a year ago!), I bought these white jeans at a very low sale price thinking that I could do some DIY damage on it. MAXI ADDICTION

I've always liked seeing passerby strut effortlessly in their floor sweeping numbers but I don't think that I've enjoyed the comfort and ease of maxidresses THIS much myself until my pregnancy. No tight-ness discomfort.. or not even the need to worry that the bump will make the front of my dresses ride up (making it impossible to not wear something underneath). Now I am on the hunt for more maxidresses! basic tank styles like this one from Velvet's Days line are my favorite..

the shoes that I've been wearing a lot lately.. very comfy, not too high for the laboring woman, and in my favorite shade! only drawback is that it's been raining often & I didn't want to ruin the suede fabric.. I had to keep jelly shoes for rainy day backups! Ann D's usually sell out on the internet quite quick but I did find the flat sandals leather (yay! weatherproof!) version here!

I know that I've always said that wind is my best friend when it comes to outfit photos. Today, I take my word back. Wind was ridiculously disturbing when I was shooting this set the other day... 8 out of 10 pics snapped had my entire head of hair into my face.. Perhaps, you would probably be convinced with the idea that I was inspired by Cousin Itt at the time...

Having a little manly touch to an outfit has always been my favorite thing to do.. the vest was my hubby's, it was big enough to over my baby bump nicely!

windy but sweaty situation left me no choice but to take my jacket during certain times of the day! and it has been proven that pregnant women's body temperature goes warmer than usual. this explains why I'm sweating more lately...

Things currently and constantly in my mind lately : It's already mid-April.. My kid is gonna pop by late June/early July.. My assistant is taking a little break (sorry for the late email replies!).. I'm thinking of how to post during my confinement period (that's when I'll be staying home for a full month after giving birth, eating all sorts of herbs and weird stuff, not washing my hair for a long period - errrr).. I still don't have my baby's name.. Trying to stay on top of work and blogging all this time !

I rarely wear anything on my wrist now, instead I'm obsessed with buying new necklaces. This mirrored floral one was gifted from Antyk Butyk.

My dog constantly barked at me, begging to come out, as I stepped to my backyard to shoot my usual outfit photo. Since I can't resist his poor beggar facial expressions, I took him with me anyway despite the fact that Hugo is one lazy arse (shitzus aren't made for walks, they're born to sleep). Then I realized how useful dogs were to ward off any irritating construction workers that usually sit and stare :P (sorry Hugo for making extra use of you...)

I wore this dress to 3 functions last weekend. All I did was switch up accessories, add jacket or switch shoes for the different occasions. and speaking of shoes.. I've been getting memos that I shouldn't wear heels when I am pregnant, I'd like to clarify again that I don't wear heels 24/7. I mostly sit while I work.. I wear Havaianas when I have photoshoots.. either that or I switch back and forth with flats/heels throughout the day.

I've always disliked how men associate women as gaptek (an indonesian slang that stands for 'gagap teknologi' or technology failure) creatures. But moreover, I dislike it even more when they apply the theory to me. You see, my relationship with gadgets has always been good ever since I was young. THE DAILY DRAWER

Remember when I talked about my 'daily drawer'? Well, this outfit pieces are the kind of stuff you'd see in there. Button down shirts, jeans, and more basic neutral colored things. The boyfriend shirt was a really nice way to contrast the tight bottoms and tank top.. and seeing these photos remind me that I really need to hem these pants (probably the only pair I can fit it now) but haven't got the time to visit my tailor !

ps. I really recommend the cut of these denim leggings! I don't usually like jeggings, but these DR DENIM ones actually fit more like proper jeans instead of leggings. You can find them in white here, or black or in classic indigo blue here

I was ,again, happy to see Alice Dellal grazing Chanel's Boy Bag Campaign for this Spring Summer 2013. Photographed by the same 'Einstein' behind the bag, the stable-set campaign is utterly beautiful. Just like the Boy Bag itself, the pictures evoke the right balance of edge and elegance. Since it was first introduced just a few years ago, the Boy Bag has been undoubtedly one of the most-coveted bags ever. I bought my gold one last year and somewhat I crave for another one. and fyi, I'm the type that doesn't crave the same bag in different colors - unless it's that bag I ultimately love. Thank you uncle Karl for all of this wishlist...

ADJUSTMENT PERIOD

So this is my first official pregnancy style post I guess (..first one to actually accentuate my bump instead of concealing like I did for the past 5 months). And thank you everybody who wished me all sorts of good things from my last post (..even though some of the lovely comments were deleted when I tried approving them but fat thumbs of mine touched the wrong part of my phone screen -_-") Anyhow, I am still trying to adjust my dressing cues with the new figure. Everyday I am tempted to grab the loose-est top only to pair it with some sweatpants.. but when I am out, the comfort dressing is out of question. I don't like to make people think "Oh she's pregnant and she can only wear frumpy clothes!" wrong wrong wrong. But still, it's not as easy to find clothes that suit my figure. Yesterday, blessed by the blogging Gods, the Karen Millen team sent me in this lovely stripe dress (woohooooooo I love stripes very much, even before the trend made it big again year!) To my surprise, it fit me just nice (still nice even when I layered another top underneath).

MINI ME

I've had mix feelings whether to share this with my blog readers or not, but as time goes by, I feel that now is the best time to announce it ! So yes, some people have been asking, and some I've told personally.. I'm pregnant now !!!!!!!!!! Actually I'm five months plus preggo already (yes it took me that long to decide whether or not to share the news with the readers). It's not that I'm shy or anything, but I simply don't like the idea of people snooping too much about my family. I just find that matter something super personal. But then again I also thought, my body will start inflating (it already is..... doesn't show much because I don't like tight clothes even when I'm not pregnant anyway. I always like loose-everything when possible) and I don't want to think that I'm hiding the pregnancy news as if I had a MBA situation (I AM legally married despite the fact that I never shared the photos or news on the blog)..

Anyhow, I am blessed that I have not been getting any morning sickness or stuff like that. I still work on a daily basis (but I try to limit myself so that I don't get too tired!).. actually, I prefer working than staying at home being unproductive.. my little one even managed to travel through the looooonnnngggg road trip I did in December ! and I can still eat my favorite foods (except sushi and sashimi unfortunately. I'll curb my lack of sushi diet when the baby is out!!) In the mean time, I still hope that I will be able to keep this blog updated as my tummy gets rounder. I hope you'll bear with my welcome-to-motherhood style posts ;)

LIQUID SAND

boo much for the lack of updates again. Not only do I not have the time to take any outfit pictures, I also have been pulling clothes from my 'daily drawer' for almost 2 weeks now. What is the 'daily drawer' if you're asking.. Well, that drawer basically consists of my favorite staples in either black/grey/white. The drawer simply allows me to create an outfit even if I am blindfolded. Very convenient I know.. It's like going back to my uniform days during high school.. The only drawback is that it does get boring (but sometimes I'd rather look boring than having to wake up earlier to plan an outfit.. sleep is too valuable) and Geminis like me tend to avoid monotony too much. and so, this is where nail polishes come to the rescue.

Just a simple swipe of a bright shade is all you need to perk up that daily drawer pieces of mine. Bubbletalk Shop probably knew that I'm going through a 'boring phase' and they sent me this OPI Mariay Carey Liquid Sand set. Upon unwrapping, I quickly put on the bright red-looking bottle on my fingernails. When it dried, I really couldn't stop rubbing it's gritty sandy texture (my fingers even sneakily make time for a rub as I type this). Taaa-daaaa, a pop of color into my dailywear without the need of sacrificing my sleep time.

plus.. you'd be glad to know that after the usual base coat, 2 coats of the actual color, you DONT need any top coat to finish (admit it, we all hate waiting for each coat to dry...)

You know how certain brands can scream out specific characteristics? Say, Mary Katrantzou and prints.. Alexander Wang, sports luxe.. or even Dior's elegance.. Well, this local brand I am introducing you today screams nothing but 'sweet'. Even when you first hear the brand name, I am pretty sure that all things sweet will come to your mind.

So here goes the brand name : Petite Cupcakes. People who know me well might wonder "hmmm... Michelle and sweet-ness don't really go together.. That girl is 90% in greys/blacks on a daily basis and she's never sold on the whole pink & girly concept." True to every single word of that.. But ! Here's what I like about Petite Cupcakes : their collection is not cheesy sweet. Instead, I like to categorize them as the prim & proper-sophisticated kinda sweet. Like this dress I am wearing, it's mostly beige, got a lil ruffle hem, plus a dash of watermelon-neon-pink for the perfect dose of feminity. Just nice. and it's not just great dresses the brand has to offer, there's also the tops, skirts and even shoes up for sale on their chic webstore.

Since the dress was simple, it easily became a perfect base for accessorizing. Somehow I went for more pink.. muted-musk pink silk scarf, equally bright coral-pink bag courtesy of Coach.

LA FLEUR

When it comes to fashion, trends come and go (... and come again) but some trends manage to stay and last longer than others. The la fleur (flower in french) trend, as my dad's Belgian friends described the other night, was definitely one of those ones with staying power. From small to larger prints or even the 3-Dimensional popping ones, la fleur have been quite a hit on and off the runway for slightly more than a year if I didn't miscalculate. Plus, there is no need to wait for the spring sun to shine... Designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Erdem have been famous for incorporating the la fleur aspect into their collections all seasons round. The once girly-associated-trend has finally left it's prissy days behind and gained it's part in the edgy and luxe world.

As for my own take, the darker and more sophisticated la fleur look has always been preferred. For today’s look, I've combined some dark abstract la fleur prints along with the 3D belt. When I first purchased these pieces, I never knew that I was going to wear them very often! I usually opt for simple plain colored apparels but as the trend grows on myself, I find it amazing on how la fleur can take simple pieces to the next level. If it wasn’t for this post, I might not even realize how often I post la fleur pieces of all sorts for the blog.

I doubt that you guys are shy to wear out the la fleur trend, but it you are looking for ways to incorporate them into your wardrobe here are some tips :
- Start with accessories. Fleur belts, necklaces or even just a tiny ring can easily perk up your basic outfits.
- A smidge of print can go a long way. Shop for pieces with a smidge of la fleur details on the collar, sleeve ends, etc or smaller sized print fabrics!
- Lastly, if you tend to stay away from bolder colors, go for monochrome fleur pieces.

So, I didn't make it in time for the Lanvin Press show on Tuesday as I was still at work. Regardless of that, I still got my hands on one of the cutest USB sticks I've ever got from the fashion house! Not only it was adorable on the outside, the 'inside' was also filled with photos of Lanvin's latest accessories and this video I'm sharing today. Apparently, Disney's very own Minnie Mouse is getting her own customized dress made by Alber Elbaz himself. The blue jewel-elaborated piece was a stunner but I personally would still like to see some sort of red or pink dress on Minnie. I guess that I am one of those people who associate childhood characters with colors - blue cookie monster, black batman, belle's yellow dress, etc...

No longer somekind of an adornment for babies or kids clothing, but now supersized and worn some of the most stylish ladies in the world (..according to me at least). I decided to make this post when Miroslava Duma adorned herself with one of these fluffballs at least 2x during this season's fashion week. Whether it's the size of a bunny's tail or bigger, pom poms seem to have shifted from the crafstore property to a fashion statement.

this two coats above are made by a russian brand : vivafox. I like how they combine the quirk of the pompoms vs the elegant & sophisticated of the coat...

everytime I see a pom pom hat, my head thinks of this particular Burberry hat... or this super-budget version from ASOS

This dress I'm wearing today literally screams "H A P P Y". I opened my package from my friend, Gloria, who designed this and I loved it the second I unfold it. I don't usually like piling on so many different colors but the dress somehow pushes me to add even more colors for the look (ie. red necklace, yellow bangle, turqouise bag.. Almost went with my red pointed pumps, but I 'stopped'). I've posted a little sneak peak of the dress a couple months ago on Instagram but this never actually made it to a proper photoshoot for the blog. So here it goes !

I should've sent the dress to the dry cleaners as some of the turquoise stripe went 'runny'.. if you like the dress, Jii is available at Debenhams Senayan City, Kemang Village, and Manekineko Space @ Epicentrum Walk.

During the rain and flood season a couple weeks ago, not only was I able to focus on my photo editing, I also managed to smidge in some web shopping. Everyone who knows me well knows that I shop online more than I do offline.. And it doesn't get better when webstores like DO NOT BREAK even allow their customers to try the clothes they are interested in buying at the comfort of their own houses (info here)! At the time, I was not sure of which size to get for this pretty peach skirt. So I asked for two sizes that I could try at home, keep the well fitted one, and return the other size. easy peasy just like that...

Of course, I didn't just add the skirt into the virtual shopping basket. Since DO NOT BREAK carries a variety of styles, I also 'grabbed' the creme blouse and red pouch to complete the look.

It seems that I am destined to have my hair uncut and messy. I always fail at making a hair appointment that fits my schedule nicely. Either that or... Some more important duties came up last minute and that forces me to call off the session with my stylist. Until last week that is, I, at last, managed to get my mane done undisturbed. Since it has been almost 7 months since my last chop, I was able to convince myself that the good old bangs need to come back... And no, I didn't chicken out last minute like I used to.

now.. if only I had the skills to blow dry my hair like so..

I asked for versatile bangs for a start.. I can still style it to the side like I did around 2 years ago, I can work with a center part, andddddd I can still style it straight down like I did today! Perhaps I might go for full-time full bangs on my next appointment...

Before January ends, I had to get my hands working on this remix post of 2012. I love it when bloggers compile their old posts into one (and I do hope that you enjoy mine as well!) and even if this didn't get uploaded quite at the right time, collecting all the photos and links ready for tonight allowed me to not only remember all the great memories from 2012 but it also made me thankful of all the great opportunities I came across. As cheesy as it sounds, I simply can't be any happier with my loves, family, dogs, and yep : job.. I might not post so much in 2012 but I did notice that I am applying the 'quality not quantity' term better nowadays. Thank you to everyone who has been with me for the past years and I hope that I could bring even more quality content in 2013! Cheers !

ON ROUTE : JAVA TO BALI

As always with holiday posts, better late than never! Having no stable connection and postponed photoshoot dates throughout the flood made me able to focus on the photo editing of my road trip from Jakarta to Bali in December/January (you can check out my route here). This trip was definitely memorable. Not only did I visit new cities throughout Indonesia, but this was also my first time doing a road trip in my own mother country. It was clearly a difference experience from previous road trips I've done overseas. I wouldn't exactly say the roads are better.. just to name a few 'obstacles' I encountered : giant road holes, duck crossing the road during while riding at 100km/h in the middle of the night, riding on a boat where the captain of the ship crashed into the deck and other ship THREE times -I thought I was gonna sink into the water seriously-, and more. But nevertheless, I still had a great time ! Like with all travels, sometimes it's the crazy and scary moments that make it memorable and worthwhile.

3000-ish kilometers (Jakarta - Denpasar - Jakarta) may sound little if you're driving around Europe, but that amount took us all a total of 13 days to get through. 13 remarkable days actually.. There were days when we drove from dawn to dusk (correction : most on-the-road days actually..) and some days where we just slacked off with the room service. I'll write more as the pictures come out below :) Who knows maybe some of you might grab the GPS and start your own road trip for your next vacation !

I stayed at the Phoenix Hotel in Yogyakarta. Highly recommended especially considering their price. I loved the heritage and historical feel of the boutique hotel..
