As you meander through the malls, looking for those last minute bargains, there is an amazing gift you should consider. And a highly unlikely gift at that. You might give this away, but you may decide to keep it for yourself - The Christmas Gift Of Blogging.

Blogging? Christmas? Are you nuts?

No. If you have a passion for anything and you can string some sentences together, you may want to consider giving yourself the gift of blogging and subscribing to the posts from this site in the coming year. Or, maybe you have a friend who writes well and you pass this site on to them.

Yes, give the Christmas Gift of Blogging !!!

How can blogging even be considered a gift? This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

A quick story to tell you how wonderful a gift of blogging can be.

In August 2011, I got an idea to write a blog post with the title Painless Suicide - A Complete Guide To Suicide. I've had some very dark days in my past and I looked up the same title many times on the Internet. I had no plans to go on with life after I wound up in a very desperate situation. Blogging literally saved my life. I rediscovered a lost passion and found a purpose in a very bad personal context.

So, I wrote up my post and told my story. And in many parts of the country, the post is on page one of Google, right underneath the Suicide Hotline.

Initially, there were a few hits on the post. Then in the fall, it started to build momentum. Today, hundreds of people a day view that post. And a number of them have written to me, "Thanks. I was ready to end it all, but I read your post."

I don't have a tally, but the first comment on the post is all I needed.

Most of the comments are by Anonymous. Who would name their kid Anonymous?

How do you top that, saving a life... or dozens of lives? That is the power that a blog can possess. You can change lives, you can save lives. Not everyone gets to do that at their job.

Not every blog post can save lives. But there are thousands of bloggers who improve the quality of others lives through their advice, their tips, their insights, their research - and that is a very noble pursuit.

Blogging is about sharing your passions.

What do you love?

My problem is I have so many interests, blogging has turned into a monstrous venture for me. And I'm starting to make some money. And new opportunities are unfolding - all from blogging. My dream to make this into a living is not so dreamy anymore. And that could be a possibility for you or your friend, too.

You don't have to do this for money. You could do this for the joy of sharing what you know and what you love. You'll find readers. And if you follow this site, I'll teach you how to find the readers. You may surprise yourself - I know I did.

So, is my premise so insane now?

This holiday season, give The Christmas Gift Of Blogging!!!!

Learn how to blog and perfecting your craft is not something one can easily do alone. It can take hundred of hours of research to learn the tricks of the trade. Heck, it can take hundreds of hours just to figure out how to set up your blog and get out a post. With launching the Global Blog School, I wanted to make myself and other proficient bloggers available on a weekly basis to chat online. Our first chat is this Friday, December 23, 2011 at 4 pm ET. And this is how you can join our online chat.

I'll be spinning three plates on Friday, chatting on AIM/iChat, SKYPE and Twitter. The chat will run for an hour. It's a Friday going into a holiday weekend. How much work are you really going to be doing?

This is a perfect diversion. Friday's chat is Random... anything goes. We don't have to discuss blogging. We can talk about Newt Gingrich shrinking in the polls, Whoopie Goldberg farting on The View, shopping nightmares and more.

To join the chat is simple.

Global Blog School Coming in January 2012

This is a project I have been working toward for about seven months, and it's finally time to launch - Global Blog School. The premise goes back to when I started blogging. I was dead broke. I could not afford to buy a URL, pay for hosting and then take courses on "How To Blog". I could afford the URL and that was it. So, I've learned how to do everything that you can do for FREE on the Internet. And that knowledge will be showcased here with Global Blog School coming in January 2012.

The school will actually have two blogs and several websites. All will be linked together. I'm doing the coursework on this Blogger.com platform and on a Wordpress.com platform. I'm extremely proficient with Blogger, so this is the first phase to be nearly completed and ready to go for the new year.

Wordpress, I haven't used in quite a few years and it will take me a little time to get that site customized and working the way I want it to. But, I wanted to be able to instruct and answer questions about the two most popular FREE blog platforms.

Content will start from the very beginning - choosing a platform; then, move through layout, posting, pictures, etc. Everything you want to know about blogging will be on these two sites.

I'm also using Google Sites for forms, lists and other content that just won't fit on a blog. All of the sites will be linked to each other and have feeds and blog rolls from the other sites. You'll be able to see what's going on in every direction.

Publishing on the sites will be once or twice a week. I have my hands on about 20 blogs and websites right now, and these will only add to the load, but this is what I love doing. So, I never consider it work.

Plus, I want readers to have time to digest the content and not feel overwhelmed.

I'm looking forward to it. I hope you are, too.

It's somewhat FREE to get on the blog roll, for now. All you have to do is post a link to this site on your blog's home page. It can be anywhere on the home page.

Use one of the photos below and then link the photo to this blog.

The Purpose Of The Master Blog List

The Master Blog List tags blogs by a broad category and then a more specific category. Bloggers and readers can go to the list, select a category and find several blogs to choose from in that category.

This is much better than lists I have encountered on the web, which require you to scroll through dozens and dozens of blogs, searching for specific content, and usually becoming frustrated and giving up.

If you're a blogger, you want to post all of your sites on this list. If you're a reader, you can quickly find blogs with content you are searching for, without the hassle of all the searching.
