Softtek Ranks 30th Best Provider in the World by Prestigious IAOP 2013 Global Outsourcing 100 List ®

Milestone marks a successful year of global expansion, client wins and corporate social responsibility

MONTERREY, Mexico – May 8, 2013 – Softtek, founder of the nearshore industry and leading global IT services provider dedicated to maximizing the value of applications, announced today that it has achieved the firm’s highest position to-date in the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals’® (IAOP®) prestigious Global Outsourcing 100 list. In addition to ranking as the 30th best outsourcer in the world, Softtek is ranked in the Leader category, a designation that it has now received for 5 consecutive years.

Softtek was also chosen as a Best 20 Leader in 5 categories: Financial Services (Banking, Markets); Technology (Hardware & Software); Discrete Manufacturing; Information Technology Services and Transaction Processing Services. The firm was, moreover, chosen as one of the Best 10 Companies in South/Central America.

This ranking follows significant company achievements for Softtek, which recently acquired the Silicon Valley-based Systech Integrators, Inc., launched an Enterprise Mobility-specific Center of Excellence (CoE) in Beijing, China and was recognized by the Mexican Center of Philanthropy as a “Socially Responsible Company” for the 4th year in a row.

Blanca Treviño, President and CEO of Softtek, said, “We are thrilled to be recognized by IAOP for the innovation and business value we bring to our clients. Not only does this ranking provide a comprehensive view of the industry, it shows our tremendous growth from last year, demonstrating our commitment to excellence. We’ve moved up by nearly 20 spots, making this our highest ranking to-date.” Treviño continued, “I would like to thank the IAOP judges and Softtek’s team of over 8,000 global associates who are responsible for the great work we do every day.”

“As applicants continually raise the bar and as the outsourcing industry continues to grow and mature in many markets, competition is tougher,” said Jag Dalal, Managing Director of Thought Leadership, IAOP and chairman of the judges' panel. “Being named to The Global Outsourcing 100 is a great achievement, particularly given the strong competition, and we are proud to recognize Softtek for their excellence.”

The 2013 Global Outsourcing 100 recognizes the world’s best outsourcing service providers and advisors. These rankings are based on applications received and are then judged by an independent panel of experienced outsourcing buyers on four critical characteristics: size and growth; customer references; organizational competencies; and management capabilities.

For more information visit www.softtek.com, follow @Softtek on Twitter, connect with Softtek on LinkedIn and read Softtek’s blog.

About Softtek:
Founded in 1982, Softtek is a global provider of process-driven IT solutions with 30 offices in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Softtek Ranks in IAOP’s 2013 Global Outsourcing 100 List ® for Five Years in a Row
Honor comes as Softtek completes 2nd acquisition in 6 months, marking continued growth & expansion

MONTERREY, Mexico – February 26, 2013 – For five consecutive years, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) has named Softtek in its list of the world’s best outsourcing service providers. Softtek is founder of the nearshore industry and a leading global IT services provider dedicated to maximizing the value of applications. The firm has been ranked in the Leader category, a designation it has also received for five years.

Softtek receives this recognition on the heels of its second major acquisition in less than six months. The acquisitions make Softtek the first truly global nearshore provider –with Global Delivery Centers in Mexico, China, Brazil, Argentina, Spain and India – and a leading SAP player in Latin America.

Speaking on Softtek’s continued success, President& CEO Blanca Treviño said, “We take pride in being recognized as one of the best outsourcing service providers in the world by the IAOP®. This year’s ranking comes as Softtek celebrates its 30th anniversary as one of Latin America’s leading technology voices, and as we continue to expand our award-winning portfolio of services to our global roster of Fortune 1000 clients.”

"As 2013 begins to see moderate growth in the economy, choosing the right outsourcing partners will be more important than ever," said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett. “The Global Outsourcing 100 list helps companies easily identify partners that will help them emerge as leaders."

The 2013 Global Outsourcing 100 recognizes the world’s best outsourcing service providers and advisors.

Global Services
- Demand for true global delivery and the process of "regionalizing operations" is beginning to increase and is the biggest trend to watch for in 2013. What I mean by true global delivery is not a single, low-cost location or very off-shore centric model but rather the trend is toward less overhead and more regional-based models.

Softtek Celebrates 30 Years

Softtek Celebrates 30 Years
Founder of Nearshore Industry Celebrates 30th Anniversary Across 30 Global Offices

NEW YORK, NY & MONTERREY, MEXICO, December 13, 2012 – Softtek, founder of the nearshore industry and leading global IT services provider dedicated to maximizing the value of applications, celebrates 30 years of success as a global nearshore provider this month. The company, founded in 1982, will commemorate this milestone with celebrations across all of its major markets, including in the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Colombia. Celebrations are being hosted by Softtek’s CEO, Blanca Trevino, throughout December.

“In 30 years, we have faced many great challenges, achieved numerous goals, but above all we have built relationships with our clients and associates that prove we are their preferred partner and employer — a true honor,” said Treviño. “Being a leading provider for IT services is gratifying; however, more important is the fact that Softtek has created thousands of jobs and acted as a protagonist in an industry that is changing the world.”

The concept of Nearshore was coined by Softtek in the late 1990s, as the firm began work with its first U.S. clients. By 2002, Softtek had partnered with the Mexican government to establish more aggressive initiatives to develop the Mexican-born industry. Furthermore, in 2003, Softtek acquired General Electric’s global develop center and its subsidiary, GE Ddemesis. What started as a dream with four associates in Monterrey, Softtek has since become one of Latin America’s most successful global ITOs with over 7,000 associates comprising over 22 different nationalities spread across 30 global offices.

Over the years, the company has spread into China through the acquisition of IT United, while maintaining a strong footprint in the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Further acquisitions are planned for the near future. Moreover, Softtek has further evolved through its stellar talent training and development programs, led in conjunction with Mexico’s leading universities. The results have proved astounding: in Ensenada, Mexico alone, Softtek has tripled the average yearly salary per capita for its workers; and in a city like Aguascalientes, Softtek is one of the largest employers.

Since its founding, Softtek has completed thousands of successful IT projects across application-related services, ERP services, and IT infrastructure support. In 2011 alone, the company opened 300 new projects with clients across 25 different industries. At present, Softtek is a preferred service provider for numerous Fortune 500 companies across the banking, oil & gas, insurance, media & entertainment, real estate, retail, technology, and transportation industries.

As part of Softtek’s anniversary celebrations, the company has sponsored an associate-driven project to identify the “30 Coolest Projects” of Softtek as well as an initiative called “Tell me in short,” a short video competition in which associates were invited to reflect on a memorable experience at Softtek through multimedia. The first place winner of “Tell me in short” received a trip for two to Cannes, France during the film festival. The anniversary celebration initiatives are meant to recognize Softtek’s unique multi-cultural team and to encourage associates to engage in creative, out-of-box thinking.

For more information please visit Softtek’s blog (http://nearshore.com/) or follow @Softtek on Twitter.

About Softtek:
Founded in 1982, Softtek is a global provider of process-driven IT services with more 30 offices in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
The IT services industry has enjoyed unprecedented growth,
with very few pauses, for almost three decades. Growth in the industry did slow
down significantly for a year or so following the impact of the financial meltdown
of 2008-2009, but the reality has been the need for IT services continued to
grow even when most of the global economy is in slow or no growth mode.

Nothing lasts forever, however, and most IT services vendors
are anticipating reduced demand over at least the next 12 to 18 months as a
result of fiscal austerity in Europe and the U.S., which is expected to produce
elongated client decision cycles over the short and medium term. This, of
course, means fewer IT projects will be initiated and less business overall for
global IT delivery providers.

Battening Down the
Hatches

Headcount growth is slowing down across the board in the IT
services industry. According to data from
TBR, the majority of IT services providers reduced hiring of both low-cost
and onshore employees in the second half of 2011 and the first half of 2012. Erin
Hichman of TBR sums it up. “Enterprise clients in mature markets are
prioritizing short-term ‘run the business’ deals over long-term ‘change the
business’ deals, which is influencing vendor hiring strategies.”

While the trend was clearly toward an overall decrease in
employee headcounts, there was significant variation among providers,
reflecting different business models and strategies. For example, hiring of
U.S.-based onshore talent was up for a number of providers, including Accenture,
Atos, Infosys and Xerox Services. Three factors are contributing to this trend –
first, European providers are shifting more operations to U.S. to decrease revenue
dependence on Europe; second, an increase in U.S. regulatory requirements; and third,
Indian vendors are also expanding their presence in the U.S. to augment their
offerings in high-value areas such as consulting.

However, with a few notable exceptions, lower-cost offshore
hiring was down for most IT services providers for the period from June 2011 to
June 2012. Some providers continued to expand their low cost operations in selected
markets in Asia, but the hiring of low cost IT services personnel was down in
Europe, Latin America and the U.S.

Strategies for Coping
with the Slowdown

Despite their differing legacies and business models, given
the current economic circumstances, global IT providers face the same dilemma…How
to break the link between headcount and revenue growth? Or in more simple
terms, how to deliver more for less.
Current data show that vendors are developing a two-pronged solution to
the problem.

1. The first step in addressing the issue of delivering more
for less is hiring the right mix of talent and skill sets. Obviously this is
easier said than done, but careful analysis of current needs and future
expansion plans permits managers to develop
a ”lean” workforce with the skill sets to get the job done efficiently.
It should be noted that the vendors with low cost resources are the ones still
showing higher profit margins and overall profitability

2. Global IT delivery vendors
are also investing in efficiency. This means developing standardized processes, tools and internal initiatives. In C&SI this means investing in IP, for AO it means increased automation, for BPO it means developing platform-based
solutions, and for ITO it means greater investment in delivering IP-based
services remotely.

IT delivery
providers are approaching the issue of improving revenue growth even with reduced
headcounts from different perspectives and with differing strategies. As of
2012, providers with large low cost headcounts still have the highest profit
margins, but this advantage is likely to erode over time, especially as higher
cost headcount providers emerge from the slowdown lean, mean and highly focused
on customer needs.

Nearshore – More Relevant than Ever

Nearshore Outsourcing

Dan Berthiaume

Nearshore locations are obtaining increasing relevance in the service delivery portfolios of global BPO buyers, according to new data from Everest Group. In a recent webinar covering notable Q3 2012 BPO trends, Everest Group zeroed in on some of the intriguing activity occurring in the
nearshore BPO space.

Everest Group actually breaks its definition of nearshore into two separate categories: “near” nearshore with close proximity to source geography and similar time zone, such as Mexico to the US, and “far” nearshore with similar time zone to source geography but significant geographical distance, such as Argentina to the US. Everest Group also takes a global approach to the nearshore BPO phenomenon, looking at how clients in other regions of the world select nearshore outsourcing locations (such as France and Mauritius) as well as how US clients select locations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Bigger Companies More Likely to Use Nearshore
Regardless of whether you’re talking about “near” or “far” nearshoring, the numbers suggest nearshore locations are a crucial component of many companies’ global service strategies. Fifty-seven percent of global companies with more than 2,500 full-time employees (FTEs) have nearshore outsourcing operations. This figure drops to 31% for global companies with 500-2,500 FTEs and only 14% of global companies with fewer than 500 FTEs.

As might be expected, the average number of nearshore locations in a global company’s BPO portfolio also drops with size. Organizations with more than 2,500 FTEs average 2.6 nearshore locations, which falls to 1.9 for organizations with 500-2,500 FTEs and 1.2 for those with fewer than 500 FTEs.

Nearshore Services Market Value Grows
The value of the global nearshore services market is growing dramatically, according to Everest figures. The total global services market has a value of $120 billion USD this year, with nearshore services representing more than a third (36-38%). And the global nearshore services market has been experiencing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5-6% for the past four years. In 2008, the global nearshore services market was valued at $37 billion USD. This amount reached $40 billion USD in 2010 and should total an estimated $45 billion USD this year.

Regional Differences Exist
Different regions of the world tend to employ nearshore services differently. For example, Everest Group finds that in North America, nearshore services predominantly serve the US across IT and BPO services and have actually seen stagnant growth in recent years. In Europe, BPO clients look for nearshore European language capability and domain- and industry-specific skills, and growth in new delivery centers is much more active.

Looking at source regions, the value proposition of Latin American nearshore services is mainly around bilingual support, but they are also leveraged for F&A and IT services. Delivery center growth is much greater in the rest of Latin American than in Mexico. And Africa is an emerging geography with healthy service center growth and high future growth potential, with differences across locations in functions and source markets.

So no matter what shore is “near” to you and whether you are interested in “near” or “far” nearshoring, the advantages of time zone, culture and cost offered by nearshore outsourcing are worth investigating. Considering the impressive CAGR of nearshore services, if you don’t investigate, your competitors probably will or already have.

MSDynamicsworld.com
- Softtek has seen a demand by its Latin American clients to look to the cloud, and specifically Windows Azure, for ways to integrate disparate systems, including Dynamics CRM. According to Warren Ross, Global Director of Cloud Services for Softtek, they have made use of the Azure AppFabric Service Bus technology to provide connectivity beyond the firewall. "That Dynamic CRM pipeline, all those events and transactions, connect to the service bus and it enables data that's been processed as part of the CRM".

Softtek Adds Microsoft Solutions to Cloud Center of Excellence

CCoE will deliver advanced solutions for the Americas on Windows Azure and MS Dynamics' platforms

MONTERREY, MEXICO – September 10, 2012 – Softtek, founder of the nearshore industry and leading global IT services provider dedicated to maximizing the business value of applications, announced today that it is adding Microsoft technologies, including Windows Azure and MS Dynamics' platforms, to the firm's portfolio of cloud services delivered through its Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).

Softtek's CCoE aggregates a diverse team of skilled experts who are focused on accelerating the implementation of cloud-based solutions, including migration, consolidation, and modernization services. The team is also dedicated to building and connecting new cloud-optimized applications. The CCoE is expected to scale to hundreds of certified experts by the end of 2013, leveraging the growing collection of cloud expertise across industries that Softtek has accumulated.

Softtek was recently recognized as Microsoft's Azure Circle Partner of the Year 2012, which makes it a provider of choice for developing, migrating, modernizing or maintaining custom applications on Microsoft's cloud-based technologies.

"Our growing relationship with Microsoft has resulted in the first sizeable Latin American Cloud Center of Excellence, which, in turn, will address a growing senior talent gap throughout the region," said Warren Ross, Global Director of Cloud Services, for Softtek. "While we have been active in the cloud space for years, we now see an opportunity to bridge the services gap in cloud strategy execution, where analysts predict growth exceeding 300% over the next three years."

Said Softtek's president and CEO, Blanca Treviño, "We wanted to do something different in cloud and we've succeeded. Business leaders are asking more questions regarding business alignment and risk management for cloud and Microsoft has responded with a pragmatic and powerful approach. When combined with Softtek's domain knowledge, global footprint, and process discipline, we are able to successfully address those questions and, thus, maximize the potential of the cloud."

Softtek's Cloud Center of Excellence offers four related sets of cloud services: architecture and advisory; cloud application migration and development; managed services to facilitate cloud hosting; and cloud application support.

Softtek's cloud services platform combines technologies from leading providers and measures the performance of cloud-based applications using business-relevant metrics. The company's approach blends technology, process and application lifecycle management skills into a seamless service that considers the primary concerns of its clients. These concerns usually revolve around business performance, security, control, service governance and regulatory compliance.

For more information on Softtek's cloud services and partnership with Microsoft, visit Softtek.com/cloud, follow @Softtek on Twitter, connect with Softtek on LinkedIn and read Softtek's blog.

About Softtek:
Founded in 1982, Softtek is a global provider of process-driven IT services with more 30 offices in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Expanding Existing Service Delivery Locations Often Best Bet

Nearshore Outsourcing

Dan Berthiaume

Large organizations with significant internal delivery models face pressures including demands from the business for more value and an increased need for high-value skills. These pressures often lead organizations to open new service delivery locations in an effort to deliver more value and
obtain access to desired skillsets.

But according to a recent webinar from The Everest Group, optimizing existing service delivery locations is often a better strategic choice. Selecting a new location does offer some advantages, including the quick acquisition of new skills (especially languages) and the diversification of risk.

However, as Everest Group pointed out, expanding an existing location can help find synergy across sites, maximize the value potential of existing resources, better manage and balance capacity and operationally mitigate risk. In addition, while expanding an existing location is hardly a cheap proposition, it eliminates the start-up costs associated with opening a new location, including site search, recruiting, hiring and training new employees, taking on new rental and operational expenses, etc.

Expanding Existing Locations – How It’s Done
Once an organization determines it wants to expand an existing service delivery location, it then needs to monitor the scalability and sustainability of access to key skills at that location. Everest Group says this process includes assessing both gross and net skill supply – including annual relevant graduate pool and subtracting the impact of local competition for the net supply – and analyzing potential implications such as the target size for a desired skill and local market collaboration.

In preparation to expand the scope of a delivery center to more functions, Everest Group advises organizations to calculate the amount of surplus talent produced from key roles and then create paths for high performers. Organizations should also consider the implications expanded scope at one location could have across all service delivery locations.

In addition, other implications that need to be studied include bridge training for new roles, cross-pollination of roles across different centers, how the mix of specific functions in a center will work, and the target scope and size of the center itself and any third-party roles that come into play.

Another option for organizations seeking to expand the scope of an existing delivery center is to expand operations in a city where one or more centers already operate. This allows organizations to leverage pre-existing investments in resources such as management and gain further access to a familiar labor pool, but does incur additional costs associated with opening a new location.

Location Optimization In the Mix
According to a survey of global services users conducted by Everest Group, location optimization is very much “in the mix” when it comes to delivery center location strategy. Only 6% of respondents primarily seek to use new locations, while 29% primarily optimize existing locations. The bulk of respondents (64%) use both of these approaches.

Location optimization is not always the best choice for an organization seeking to expand the scope of its service delivery center(s). Depending on factors such as available skills and resources both in a center and in its surrounding area, competition for resources in an existing location and the possible need for recruiting and training new employees, opening a new center in a new location may prove the most productive location strategy. But optimizing an existing location is a strategy that should always be considered as a first option when the time comes to expand the scope or volume of services delivery.
