I will be a century old in 1,034 days. When I look back on the journey I have been on, I see I was constantly adapting and adopting to the environment. The indigenous environment in which one finds oneself needs to become an integral part of living and learning at the same time. Today we’re using technology that was unavailable at my birth. When I was young we used slate and a slate pencil. That’s no longer the case. Nor do we live using solar energy to create energy transfer. That energy transfer can now be generated in a merry go round and stored in lithium batteries for use in classrooms, streetlights, and homes. In Ghana, this energy is used in lanterns that children take home at night so that they can do their homework in a lantern lit home. These new adaptations create themselves for the new milieu of life…….. What I am describing is part of the longevity we must celebrate and value. Most of you will live beyond retirement age which used to be 65 or younger. That you may live long in peace and harmony is what global healing is all about. In our collaboration with Generations United and the Toy Industry Association to build intergenerational playgrounds in Cambridge, MA, we learned of the benefits of intergenerational play for both old and young. Many positive cognitive, physical, social, and emotional changes have been observed from play in intergenerational facilities. Plato said, “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation”. It’s also playtime now in Washington DC, so have fun! And play! Perhaps in an intergenerational park or in the back yard of a friend’s home. My latest edition is learning about drumming and playing at a xylophone. It’s fun! The more we share the more we care. That’s what Global Healing is all about. It’s a matter of sharing your gifts with others, that we have to demonstrate day in and day out. Thus, we avoid the turmoil and negativity that we tend to encounter, rather than the positives of life. (Alice Miel, my principal advisor wrote about it three decades ago in her publication, “Cooperative procedures in learning”.) Let life be fun and let play be part of the journey of your friends and you! Thank you for listening and I wish you all a successful future journey toward peace and harmony.

After reviewing Piaget’s stages of development, I find that, similarly, in architecture, engineering, and politics, professionals need to understand and practice a DEVELOPMENTAL SEQUENCE. Otherwise, the envisioned goals are difficult to achieve. Thank you to Dr. Piaget and his followers. This requires a holistic view of the dimensions that must be in harmony to have a children’s space open. The Stern Playground in Newton, Massachusetts demonstrates the fulfillment of a much-needed vision and action at this time of turmoil.

Just a few months before her death, Ed wrote this letter to the Queen of England: Dear Madam, I want to thank you for the 60 years you have been guiding a supporting human endeavors. I’m particularly thankful to you and your leadership, since your government passed a law accepting refugee children from Nazi held and invaded territories. I was one of 1,000 lucky children, coming 6 days before WWII broke out. A Quaker community in Ilkley, Yorkshire, provided a group home for boys. Thanks to you and your government, I was able to obtain an affidavit to move to New York in the United States. Cunard White Star Line Britannica took me to New York City, where I landed on April 1, 1940, to await reuniting with my family who had escaped from Germany. Had you and your Parliament passed a forward-looking way of rescuing 1,000 children in need of group homes in England or with families accommodating individual children. Because I’m alive today, through England’s generosity, I have created, with colleagues and friends, a Global Healing Project. You started me on the road of reconciliation and the gifts of loving, caring, and sharing. I also am sending you an advanced invitation to my 100th birthday in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 13, 2025. This train took me from Nuremburg to England, where I stayed in a group home with other children escaping the Holocaust.

It's possible to feel wonderful, and energized by giving and

receiving blessings.

1. A blessing is a focusing and a statement of intention and good will.
It is a wonderful gift to give to a child, a friend or an enemy.

There is no right or wrong way to do this other than asking permission
from the person and asking what they would like or need.
For example: What do you really need?
(something big or small)
(A family need, a personal need)

The one who gives the blessing gives their full attention, entire
focus on the person and repeats their request.

Sharing the Blessing:
A blessing is a focusing and a statement of intention and goodwill.
The most important gift the blessing holds
is being seen, being heard and tenderly affirmed by the person
giving the blessing.
A blessing can be given to a child, a friend, a pet or even to an enemy.
In our fast paced society this is truly a tremendous gift.

2. How to Seal a Blessing:
A verbal blessing is a tremendous gift, however sometimes having
something concrete to remind one of that blessing can further its joy.

That thing could be something small from your personal collection or
something you make with your own hands such as a greeting card; a
string, a special button, a shell, a memento you make for that person.
