The new multi-purpose DURACoil glove range by SHOWA combines high-level comfort with cut resistance, durability and exceptional grip performance, protecting workers in medium-low cut risk environments.

Introduced into the UK, Ireland and Middle East by Globus Group, the new safety glove range features SHOWA’s innovative DURACoil technology. This specialist process sees the liner engineered by tightly wrapping tenacious multifilament polyester around a cut resistant fibre, which is then reinforced with High-Performance Polyethylene (HPPE).

Globus Group has enhanced its market-leading single-use disposable gloves range with the introduction of the SHOWA 6110PF new biodegradable nitrile glove.

Using SHOWA’s groundbreaking Eco Best Technology (EBT) the new 6110PF provides the same physical properties as traditional nitrile gloves – durability, texture, fit and performance along with the same shelf life - but with one added dimension.

After being used, the addition of EBT, which contains an organic additive, during the manufacturing process, makes the gloves attractive to microbial activity when disposed of in landfills. As a result Microorganisms consume, metabolise and break down EBT materials into three natural compounds - organic soil, methane and carbon dioxide.

PPE specialist Globus Group has supported one of the UK’s most celebrated Garden Centres and Nurseries – Hillier - on a charity project to transform the garden of a family whose two-year-old son is suffering from sight impacting tumours behind both eyes.

Globus Group was contacted by one of its distributors, GTS, after hearing about the Hillier project to support the Burrell family whose son, Sebastian is suffering from bilateral Retinoblastoma, to see if it could help equip scores of volunteers and workers with protective gloves during the garden transformation.

Around 25 volunteers were joined daily by members of the Hillier team and contractors throughout the 10-day garden makeover and were equipped with a range of the company’s performance SHOWA gloves.

Gloves from the range included the SHOWA 370 Black, 306, 380, 310 Green and 451, selected by a Globus Group hand protection specialist due to their enhanced protective features combined with high-level comfort and grip.

The selected gloves are designed for a range of rugged environments including construction, oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing and highway maintenance so were ideal for the transformation.

By combining the unique Hagane Coil® cut-resistant technology with the SHOWA double dipped nitrile grip coating, the new SHOWA S-TEX 377 is the perfect solution for oily environments with high cut risks such as oil and gas, engineering, press stamping and industrial maintenance.

Globus, which along with its headquarters in Manchester has manufacturing facilities in Lancashire and Scotland and regional operations in Dubai – received the Queen’s Award for its work in developing international trade.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mr Warren J Smith KStJ JP DLitt LLD , visited the company on Wednesday (July 5^th), touring the offices and logistics facilities before officially presenting the Award on behalf of the Queen.

Since its formation in 1994 Globus has grown to become an internationally recognised leader and innovator in the PPE industry, growing markets around the world.

The Queen’s Award accolade, in the International Trade category, was received for demonstrating 'outstanding, year-on-year growth' over the last six years, reflecting the achievements Globus has made in developing export markets.
