The new multi-purpose DURACoil glove range by SHOWA combines high-level comfort with cut resistance, durability and exceptional grip performance, protecting workers in medium-low cut risk environments.

Introduced into the UK, Ireland and Middle East by Globus Group, the new safety glove range features SHOWA’s innovative DURACoil technology. This specialist process sees the liner engineered by tightly wrapping tenacious multifilament polyester around a cut resistant fibre, which is then reinforced with High-Performance Polyethylene (HPPE).

As a result, these high comfort gloves can be worn for extended periods of time, offering increased resistance to snags and abrasions and cut protection in line with EN 388:2016 cut level C.

Available in four different polymer coating finishes – Nitrile, Foamed Nitrile, Natural Rubber (Latex) and Polyurethane – the DURACoil range also offers exceptional grip performance in particular for component handling and assembly tasks in both wet and dry environments.

• Good resistance against cuts, snags and tears
• Upgraded mechanical risk protection for general purpose activities - EN 388:2016 cut level C

The series of seven cut C/A3 gloves is SHOWA’s direct response to the revised PPE regulations 2016, which saw a market-wide downgrade in EN388 and ANSI 105 cut level scores for re-certified products.

This is especially apparent in the general-purpose category, with a surge of focus and attention to the cut C/A3 product group.

Globus Group Partnership with David Domoney

TV gardener and Chartered Horticulturalist, David Domoney, has formed a partnership with award-winning international protective equipment developer and manufacturer, Globus Group, in support of the extensive portfolio of gloves they can offer.

TV gardener and Chartered Horticulturalist, David Domoney, has formed a partnership with award-winning international protective equipment developer and manufacturer, Globus Group, in support of the extensive portfolio of gloves they can offer.

Globus Group have over 20 years’ experience in developing and supplying gloves for effective hand protection in a wide range of industries, including the construction, agricultural, pharmaceutical, waste management, transport and horticultural industries. Now, they are turning their expertise to the provision of hand protection solutions to the amateur gardening market. Designed with different gardening tasks in mind, select gloves in the SHOWA and SKYTEC ranges of gloves that Globus exclusively license and design respectively; offer thermal and waterproof protection in winter, heat and UV protection in summer, high tactility for delicate tasks like handling seedlings, weeding and composting, chemical protection for mixing cement and applying fertilisers, and damage and cut protection for more robust jobs like pruning, digging and clearing. The specially developed BUDS range by Globus offers the same superior protection for children’s hands in the garden.

Ensuring safe hands in the garden is about choosing the right pair of gloves for each task and that should also include protecting from substances that can often cause skin irritation and allergies. Surprisingly, most people don’t realise that often, they are as much at risk from the glove they are wearing because of the residual chemical content often associated with lower grade products. Globus Group ensure only first grade materials are used in production and have a wealth of in-house knowledge on the management of sensitive skin.

David Domoney, who is about to begin filming series 9 of ITV1’s Love Your Garden, the most-watched gardening TV show in Britain with up to 4 million viewers per episode, said: “It’s an honour to partner with industry leaders like Globus Group who have decades of experience in supplying the professional market with world-leading protective solutions. The SHOWA, SKYTEC and BUDS glove ranges offer exceptional and versatile hand protection that will change the lives of home gardeners.”

Domoney will be working with Globus Group via social media, events and marketing campaigns to de-mystify glove choices for gardeners and revolutionise the way that people protect their hands.

Introducing the New SHOWA 6110PF Biodegradable Nitrile Glove

Using SHOWA’S groundbreaking Eco Best Technology (EBT) the new 6110PF provides the same physical properties as traditional nitrile gloves – durability, texture, fit and performance along with the same shelf life - but with one added dimension.

Globus Group has enhanced its market-leading single-use disposable gloves range with the introduction of the SHOWA 6110PF new biodegradable nitrile glove.

Using SHOWA’s groundbreaking Eco Best Technology (EBT) the new 6110PF provides the same physical properties as traditional nitrile gloves – durability, texture, fit and performance along with the same shelf life - but with one added dimension.

After being used, the addition of EBT, which contains an organic additive, during the manufacturing process, makes the gloves attractive to microbial activity when disposed of in landfills. As a result Microorganisms consume, metabolise and break down EBT materials into three natural compounds - organic soil, methane and carbon dioxide.

The new glove forms part of SHOWA’s growing range of biodegradable gloves.

Ideally suited for use in non-hazardous contamination environments, the EU Food Safe approved 6110PF will fully biodegrade with 5 years.

“Environmental considerations are playing an increasingly important part of the day to day operations of organisations globally and the launch of the SHOWA 6110PF is part of our growing solution to this. It enjoys the same performance benefits of traditional nitrile including shelf life but the addition of EBT is a breakthrough for businesses wanting to reflect their positive environmental approach.

“Regular nitrile gloves cannot attract enough (if any) microbial activity to begin breaking down the polymer’s molecular structure, thus leaving the process of reclamation to light, heat, mechanical stress and moisture… unlike the NEW SHOWA 6110PF biodegradable glove,” said Globus Product Development Manager for Hand Protection, Gregory Tessier.

By combining the unique Hagane Coil® cut-resistant technology with the SHOWA double dipped nitrile grip coating, the new SHOWA S-TEX 377 is the perfect solution for oily environments with high cut risks such as oil and gas, engineering, press stamping and industrial maintenance.

Globus has enhanced its market-leading SHOWA gloves range with the launch of the highly cut resistant SHOWA S-TEX 377.

Highly flexible, durable and comfortable, the fully coated nitrile S-TEX 377 protects against water, grease, oil and abrasion with the added benefit of high cut resistance – certified Level D to the new EN388 Standard. The additional black nitrile foam palm coating also provides outstanding grip in wet and oily conditions.

Cut resistance is delivered through the innovative Hagane Coil® technology - a unique SHOWA coiling process that binds high performance yarns to a stainless steel core – the same carbon steel used to create Samurai swords. By using Samurai Technology, the S-TEX 377 provides the wearer with enhanced cut protection compared to using natural or synthetic fibres.

High grip performance is delivered through the Nitrile foam palm coating - the microporous foam structure effectively absorbing liquids, creating great adhesion between the hand and whatever is being handled. Underneath, the flat nitrile coating protects the skin against oil and grease contact reducing the risk of dermatitis.

Available in sizes small to XXL, the addition of a long cuff protects wearers against the risk of wrist injuries whilst the elasticated knit wrist keeps the glove correctly adjusted and in place during use.

“The launch of the SHOWA S-TEX 377 is a fantastic addition to the already renowned SHOWA S-TEX range. Purpose-built for rugged industrial environments such as oil and gas and engineering, it balances the combination of high level cut resistance, grip performance and comfort perfectly,” said Globus Product Development Manager for Hand Protection, Gregory Tessier.

Tested to the new EN 388:2016 standard delivering level D cut resistance, the new SHOWA 4561 also features ZORB-IT® technology providing outstanding grip in oily conditions due to an extra absorbent nitrile coating.

Globus has further enhanced its leading portfolio of safety gloves with the introduction of the new SHOWA 4561.

Tested to the new EN 388:2016 standard delivering level D cut resistance, the new 4561 also features ZORB-IT® technology providing outstanding grip in oily conditions due to an extra absorbent nitrile coating.

The combination of features makes it ideally suited to workers in the automotive, construction, glass & glazing, oil and gas, metal working, utilities and engineering sectors where there are significant cut hazards. It also offers abrasion and contact heat resistance, whilst at the same time delivering excellent levels of dexterity and comfort.

Winner of the DuPontTM Kevlar® Glove Innovation Award, the new SHOWA 4561 glove is manufactured using SHOWA’s engineered yarn technology. The result is a glove that is flexible, lightweight and comfortable whilst delivering Level D certified cut resistance.

The addition of SHOWA's patented ZORB-IT® grip technology allows users to maintain a stronger grip in oily and wet conditions without sacrificing safety, due to the unique way the coating on the palm and fingers absorbs and transfers oil across the surface more effectively when compared to other nitrile coatings.

Hand protection specialist Globus is introducing a new cut-resistant (Level 5E) glove for workers operating in high cut risk environments who also need exceptional grip and fingertip precision.

The new SHOWA S-TEX 581 is manufactured using SHOWA’s engineered yarn technology that combines three different fibres – Polyester, Hagane high carbon steel and Kevlar® - to protect workers’ hands from significant cut hazards thanks to its Level 5 (EN388:2003) and Level E (ISO 13977) classification.

Ideally suited for a range of industries including manufacturing assembly, automotive, glass and glazing and construction, where cut hazards are common, the SHOWA S-TEX 581 delivers exceptional grip in greasy and light oily conditions thanks to the addition of an embossed finish to the foam nitrile palm coating, designed to disperse oils and liquids away efficiently.

The microporous foam nitrile coating also offers Level 4 (EN388:2003) abrasion resistance whilst enabling warm air and moisture on the inside of the glove to escape, helping to keep hands dry and comfortable.

“As the latest addition to SHOWA’s renowned S-TEX cut resistant glove family, the new S-TEX 581 delivers a range of enhanced benefits for people working in physically demanding environments where high level cut risks exist,” said Steve Shale, Marketing Manager of Globus.

“Unlike glass fibre-based gloves, the specialist SHOWA yarn technology within the 13 gauge S-TEX 581 liner delivers significant cut protection (Level E: ISO 13997) in addition to exceptional dexterity, durability and comfort.

“The result is a highly flexible durable glove that provides exceptional protection and longevity, making it a great choice for those wishing to reduce cost” added Steve.
