I wanted to let you know about major changes to the patient drop off area between the BRI and the BRHC that will be in place from 14 May – 22 June and ask for your help in spreading the word about this.

For six weeks from Monday 14 May until 22 June, a staffed barrier will be put up to prevent drivers entering the area between the children’s hospital and the BRI. The barrier will be in place from 07h30 – 16h30 from Monday to Friday during the six-week period. Drivers will only be allowed through in emergencies or if they are dropping off children with mobility difficulties who are patients at the BRHC.

A new area has been created for drivers dropping off adult patients with mobility difficulties. This new area is in front of the physiotherapy department further down Marlborough Street beyond the bus stop. Drop off spaces will be available in this area and patients will be able to enter the hospital through the physiotherapy department. People will be on hand to greet and direct patients.

We have printed a leaflet (attached) and posters to let patients and visitors know of these changes. These materials are being distributed throughout the BRI and the BRHC and we are also distributing leaflets to 150 000 households in our catchment area. Information is also on the Trust website as follows:

Information about changes to drop off http://www.uhbristol.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/travelling-to-and-from-our-hospitals/major-changes-to-bribrhc-patient-drop-off-area/ Updated information on travel to and from our hospitals http://www.uhbristol.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/travelling-to-and-from-our-hospitals/

Drivers dropping off adults with mobility difficulties at the BRI should drop them off in front of the physiotherapy department further down Marlborough Street just beyond the bus stop. We are advising all other drivers to please avoid driving into the hospital precinct, use nearby car parks and the free hospital bus wherever possible.

What if I am dropping off a child or an adult in an emergency?

You will be let through the staffed barrier if you are dropping off either an adult or a child in an emergency.

What if I am dropping off an adult patient with mobility difficulties?

You can drop them off in front of the physiotherapy department further down Marlborough Street beyond the bus stop. Three drop off spaces will be available in this area and patients will be able to enter the hospital through the physiotherapy department.

What if I have an outpatient appointment or I am a visitor?

All other patients for the BRI and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children should avoid driving into the hospital precinct, use nearby car parks and the free hospital bus wherever possible.

Where can I park?

Parking is very limited on our site and we want to prioritise what is available to those with mobility issues, or those with emergencies. There are a number of public car parks situated close to our hospitals (Cabot Circus, Rupert Street, St James Barton) and we run a free return shuttle bus from Cabot Circus to our hospitals. The bus leaves from outside the ground floor car park exit next to Shopmobility.

What if I am coming by train?

A free bus service also operates to and from Bristol Temple Meads train station from Monday to Friday. The bus stop is to the right as you come out of the station.

What if I am coming by bus?

All of our hospitals are a short walk from Bristol Bus Station.

Thank you for your understanding, the improvements will be worth it in the end. Please avoid driving into the hospital precinct during this period.

We all thought he was mental.

Now this is something he should have been aiming for and I would be happy in a House like this, especially with That View of Aspen, Colorado.

The magic Mushroom House took the guy who built it, 6 years to complete, he was tripping his tits off, how the hell he managed to do all that work and not spend the day talking to the snow, is beyond me.

I let her in 10 minutes ago, soaking wet. Would She let me dry her with a nice warm towel and feed her some nice chicken leftovers?

Or do you think she would rather run around the kitchen, jumping on the table and chairs, skidding round the floor and getting everything wet?

I opened the door and she went out, sat outside the window and started again.

She’s got her own warm den in the shed, with food and a bed, yet she sits in the rain meowing.

I’m quite sure that if her noises were translated, it would mean
“Let me in, I need a shit”

Contigo Mug Complaint – First One Ever

I got this email today, I’ve changed the customers name, but I wonder, is there such a thing as a Contigo mug that leaks? Let me know. Mine never have.

Hi Chris Taylor aka Doc,

I received my contigo product from you well and was happy with your service.

However I am not happy with the contigo product.

I have used it and it does not now serve the purpose that it it suppoed to.

It leaks, drips and does not keep my tea hot for very long at all.

Please can you tell me how I can have this issue resolved.

I would understand if these were £599 (? Not sure if that is a typo – Doc) mugs however they are double the price and I expect them to last longer that a standard mug, which from my expereince last for several years. I would really apprciate your help.

MY REPLY:

Hello Amanda,

Sorry to hear you are not happy. You email has confused me a little though. I have used these mugs for many years and I can tell you that they do not leak, Unless you have them at the bottom of a bag and the button gets pressed in transit. The only other way the leak is if the are over filled as per the instructions. If the liquid has an inch gap from the top and the cap is screwed on as with the thread and the bbutton not pressed until its time to drink, they will not leak.

Now then, if you have found that the mug didn’t leak at first and over time it has leaked and you have not done anything differently (like having it in a bag with the button pressed, I know, I’ve done it) then it could be a fault. One that I have never heard of, but there is a first time for everything.
You would have to contact Contigo and tell them there is a fault. But I have a feeling that your problem stems from the issues I have mentioned.

I only sold these mugs, which I ran out of months ago, as they are, without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST Mugs available. I don’t say this lightly as I have used and tested many over the years and I have only ever been impressed with the Contigo mug. So much so that I have at least 10 of them for myself and family.

I still have the original mugs from 2005 which are still serving me very well indeed and the ones you have are an Improvement!

As for keeping your drink hot. I have to add cold water to my coffee otherwise it is like trying to drink lava, even after an hour of filling it. If the drink goes in Luke warm, it will not stay hot for long at all.

My wife drinks coffee with milk and warms the milk first, rather than pour in cold and she gets hot coffee for 2 and a half hours and warm coffee after that. Without the mug a coffee is stone cold in 30 minutes. So again, I am really impressed with these mugs.

Please tell me, how do you fill it, do you have it in a bag or a place where the button could be pressed? It is an easy mistake and I have taken the time to write this as you are the first person to ever have such a complaint.

I hope it helps and I look forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes and a Very Merry Christmas,

This is the time of year I start looking around at Compact Cameras. I think it’s because of Christmas and I like to treat myself and I know that I will take lots of pictures over the next year it will pay for it’s self. To give me an idea what to get, looking for reviews and went to see the Best Sellers in Electronics on Amazon.

I was surprised to see the Panasonic Lumix FS35 Digital Camera at number 11 though as my mother in law has one and swears by it. I would have thought that somthing a bit newer would be at the top. I suppose it’s because of the bargain price.

I remember seeing the new Lumix cameras as the were introduced at the Consumer Electrics Show in Las Vegas. I had the TZ8 for a while but found it a bit bulky for my pocket and swapped it for a Sony (which I can’t seem to find anywhere now I mention it)

Since I started my search for the perfect pocket camera, I’ve been drooling over the Canon PowerShot S95 as it has Pro features in a compact camera, the only thing missing for me is the Super Zoom. But its not a Travel Camera is it? No, it’s a Pro Compact, that means that you can fiddle about with the manual mode and make the camera do what you want, rather than it be a point and shoot.

That is what a Travel Camera is all about, being able to take the pictures you need while on your holiday without faffing about trying to get the perfect shot. You just point and shoot and hey presto, fanny’s your aunt, you get a nice picture. With the Super Zoom you get close up to/

That’s why I was looking at the Sony DSCHX9VB Cyber-shot as it has a 16x Optical zoom. BUT, you can’t do all the manual photography like you can with the s95. Again I find myself getting confused.

So I am scratching my head and thinking I will give it a rest for the day. The good news is that is looking for the perfect camera I found a very cool site that will let me compare the cameras and give me a good idea what I need. It’s called http://snapsort.com/ and is the best website I’ve found for deciding on a camera.

I hope you find what you are looking for, let me know if you do.
