We continuously received the tanks late, due to which we suffered innumerable losses. The orders were delayed and towards the end of the contract tenure, we had to stop the manufacturing plant as there were not enough tanks to store the liquids that were being manufactured. We had to face a lot of canceled orders and also lost a few clients due to delayed deliveries.

Low-quality Product Used during manufacturing:- The products that we received were of extremely poor quality. The tanks were catching rust easily, we were being forced to replace the tanks more frequently, thereby, increasing our costs. All these clearly implied that our manufacturer was using products of low quality while manufacturing the tanks, to reduce their costs and increase their profits.

Leakage Problem:- There was a time period where we had our liquids, which in most cases were stored and kept for a sufficient amount of period before despatched, were leaked in the plant itself, primarily because the tanks were not made properly. There were severe losses that occurred because of the leakage, loss of product being the main one. The orders were delayed and canceled, the plant was polluted, manufacturing halted.

Grains absorb or desorb moisture based on temperature and relative humidity of the air surrounding them and continue to absorb or desorb moisture until it attains equilibrium with the surrounding air. This final moisture content of grain is called Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC). This EMC value is different for different grains based on RH and Temperature of surrounding air.

Understanding the EMC concept of grains is very important to understand how grain will behave in various temperatures and relative humidity conditions. In general relative humidity of 65% or less is considered safe for the storage of grains.

The storage period of grains depends upon the moisture content of grains. As a rule of thumb 9% to 13%, moisture content of grains may give a storage life of 8-11 months, however, there still may be some infestation problems, which have to be tackled with effective fumigation. When the grains are at 14% to 18% moisture level, the storage period is reduced to only 4-8 weeks due to problems of mold growth resulting in discoloration of grains. Below 9% moisture content Grains can be stored safely for more than one year but it may result in loss of germination.

Temperature and Relative Humidity Monitoring are the two very important aspects of Grain Management inside Silo. A rate of change of temperature of more than 5.5 Deg C per week indicates that there is spoilage inside a grain silo. Respiration rate of grains increases exponentially when grains start to spoil and mold / insects develop inside the silo. An increase in respiration produces additional moisture, which further deteriorates the situation. Hence continuous monitoring of Temperature and Relative Humidity inside Grain Silo is very important to keep the grains safe

The constructed cemented structure on the roof was not properly watered.
Due to this following things happened:-

Between the cement base and internal basalt (murum), layer there was a gap developed.
Steel sheets which are used are low-quality material is used.
Steels sheets usage was less and cement was not tested in terms of force per cubic cm.
The base of an iron structure fabricated was not at even level.
The iron stand fabricated for grain silo tank overhead, plates taken were not of adequate size.
Base construction was not strong enough to bear the load of 1000 KL silo grain tanks plus fabricated iron stands and plates.

Consequences

The constructed steel or cement structured was weaker and was not able to hold the desired hold.
