First, let me state that the hairstyle reminds me of Sweeney Todd. There seems to me that I am seeing an intellectual and/or artistic side on the Dolce & Gabbana man for this collection. At some point, he looks like a doctor, then at certain times, like a business man and then at some point a baron. Quite vague? Probably, but hey, that's just my opinion.

What struck me the most about the collection was that the pieces were so man-of-the-street but in an Victorian sort of way. The Ivy caps, the slightly dropped crotch pants; folded and tapered at the hem and the varied styles of overcoats, they are quintessential pieces for the collection. Another striking element in the collection would have to be the baroque details on capes, jackets and knits. some look like they were knitted into the material, creating that raised, 3D effect.

I would have to say that I loved the underwear. Veering away from the skimpy tight bikinis, they added long johns, and those boxers that have buttons along the waistband.they all fall on the natural waist.

And Pajamas! Oh I am loving this collection simply because of the pajamas worn with jackets. it's like a perfect outfit for me. Sleepwear as daywear!

The latter part was quite embellishment and print heavy for me. though I loved the baroque details, I felt that some pieces were overly styled and decorated.

I am seeing a lot of focus on coats lately. I wonder if we will be seeing more men wearing coats. That would just look dandy.

Valentino was invited for the 81st Pitti Uomo event held in Florence. Doing menswear with a flair of couture. The result is this: a breathtaking coat. The dropped shoulder gave this coat a relaxed feel. the volume created an impeccable appeal to an otherwise "simple" design. It's all in the details: the tonal fastening close to the neckline (which was a repeating accent throughout the collection), the straps at the end of the sleeves, and the hidden structure inside the coat that holds the shape impeccably. The collection was inspired by gorgeous men who wore clothes with refinement, just like in the old days. The poster boys of the collection, Alain Delon and Marcello Mastroianni embody the refined masculinity of the 60s. Though the collection was very proper, with some obvious touches of couture, this coat definitely took my breath away.

Spring Style- Hints of Yellow

The varying tints of yellow from the light, lemon-y transparent coat from Dries van Noten, to the richer, mustard-y tones from Lanvin and Burberry Prorsum, yellow has taken center stage as one of the dominant colors for spring. An optimistic color choice, yellow can be hard to pull off if the person is not aware of how to effectively pull off the color based on skin tone. Yellow is a great addition to the bold colors that we have seen in the runway and so for this spring, it is but necessary to add a bit of a bit of a cheery yellow color to brighten up your daywear.

The accessories definitely are great options for those who think that yellow is not their best color option. here are some practical, attainable and stylish accessory options to consider for this spring-summer. The Jil Sander Bag and necklace pouch are to die for. The yellow snakeskin definitely amplified the appeal of these bags to another level.

Spring Style- Prints and Embellishments

Prada has set the tone for a lively and print loving Spring 2012 with its use of flower prints on men's shirts and trousers. Burberry on the other hand, settled for geometric designs on knitted sweaters and shirts with the same geometry but in the form or embellishments. This Spring, bold prints take on a wide range of options from kaleidoscopic take on classic check prints a la Raf Simons to the melange of stripes from Dries Van Noten.

Androgyny is still a very strong statement for spring 2012. Pieces take a unique twist with the use of interesting materials and volumes. Veering away from the dapper and polished looked, Androgyny takes volumes into a subtly more subversive direction. Lanvin takes the idea of androgyny with much dignity with the lovely proportions of pieces. Thom Brown takes theatrics with luxurious volumes and interesting mix of pieces and proportions.

Spring Style- Transparency

This Spring, Transparency has taken a conceptual and practical direction. Raf Simons for Jil Sander has created the most believable single-breasted jacket using a glossy plastic material plus another transparent outer jacket made of a much softer material. Thom Browne executed a theatrical version of a classic top in sheer material, perfectly showing the physique of the wearer. Transparency adds a unique depth to the wearer, and this season, it is definitely a must to try and embrace the world in sheer.

Spring 2012 has its share of bold prints and graphic shapes for numerous collections but striking, bold colors made an equally strong impact for the upcoming season. collections after collections, we have seen a strong color statement. when everything else fails, pick a bold color. from Brilliant reds, electric blues, Bright oranges and sunny yellow (more on this later), the colors of spring really embrace the warm weather with a bang. it is a year of change, and what could be more ideal than embrace the spring with a touch of color?

Refinement: I've been in a long vacation from blogging and it was a palette cleanser. in the past I wanted to show nothing more but things that I feel are nice but at the end of the day I was frustrated with my content. I turned 24 last October 18, and I realized that it is time to take on a much more refined path. I intend to continue pursuing my passions and I intend to keep my faith in my talent and skill. This unfinished dress is part of my dreams, something that is refined, unique, special and personal.

I welcome myself back to the blogging world and I hope you guys keep supporting me!

I fell in love with the collection because I am in the mood for South Pacific. I can imagine Mitzi Gaynor wearing some of these pieces wearing nothing but a classic flip flop.

If you have $9110 to spare, then this ensemble will make your exotic dreams turn chic. I love the color palette because it is sophisticated but the textures and the overall feel is bold yet very feminine. I hope to see someone rock my selection LOL If ever you see them wearing the ensemble kindly notify me! As if! Anyways, I just want to feel rich right now so I decided to go to the premium brands for some really expensive womenswear shopping spree. Since I have been posting so much menswear items in the past few months. I want to keep it balanced. Look at those shoes. that must be one bad ass giant python to have those kinds of scales. the Chloe one offers more subtle textures and sophistication but still it feels exotic. the Armadillo print in the Givenchy dress is so chic and it just complements the textures from the accessories. This ensemble is not for the faint of heart but as you can see, the colors are quite wearable and that offsets the boldness. just wear a red lip, dark nails and some baubles and you are set! I chose the more exotic feel of the pave crystal ring from Alexis Bittar but the Onyx cabonchon from Ippolita just works well with the dress and it complements the color of the Chloe clutch. what do you think?

Seriously, I am not a fragrance person. I just feel like this fragrance is speaking to me loudly. I just got to have a bottle soon. Oh BTW, I'm undergoing glycolic peel right now so if it works well, I will tell you about it. I was about to talk about the Murad thingy but I better shut my trap about the system. I am hoping that this new system will be better and that it will really noteworthy of a blog post.

Pardon me for being absent the past few days. I've been sick and with all the work, I need to get back on track. After days of being sick, I think I need to feel good about myself so what the heck!

I just have a good feeling regarding the Prada Infusion d'Homme. I think Prada and I will have a connection. Tell me what you think about it! I might soon tell you what I think about it.

There is a haul that I am itching to do but the package is yet to arrive and hopefully it does. There will be a lot of things for you to await so just keep posted!

I love the effortless style of Inès de la Fressange. She wore a custom Carven dress and flats. she had beautiful bracelets on both wrists but her greatest accessory? Her smile. felt it was a refreshing way to dress up and I think Hollywood should take notes on how this woman dresses herself up. she looks effortless, she looks happy and most importantly, chic and well put together. It's like after a day of premiers and other high profile events, she can easily take the bracelets off and sit down by the beach-side and enjoy a quite day reading a book. Super chic!

I Just received my Copy of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. I went to the post office today and boy was I surprised. Amazon did a good job delivering this way beyond my expected date. I am so pleased to say that it did not fail to impress me. I think it was not only respectful of McQueen. The book was indeed a perfect ode to the career of the late designer. I can only say good things about this book. I call it a book since it is filled with insights, information, interviews and all that good stuff. it is not just a bunch of pictures.

Speaking of pictures, they dresses, tailored pieces and accessories were well highlighted. It is a totally brilliant piece if you are a McQueen fan. Stocks of the book are already flying off the shelves and so visit the McQueen website for a copy.You can also go to Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon.

I am not affiliated to McQueen or the Metropolitan Museum of Art (I wanted to LOL) but I just think that for the quality of this book, have all the reasons to share it to you guys. If you are a true fan and if you love real fashion and art, this is a brilliant book. I though to myself that online images were alright but when I got the book, I felt a unique experience all over again.

I respect the House of McQueen and I respect the late designer and I feel that even if I cannot afford to buy from their main line, this is the way i can show my support and respect to the label and the ARTIST that really inspired me to get into this world. I remember that the first collection that struck me the most was the Widows of Culloden.

Bottega Veneta Cruise 2012 Collection

This collection has a lot of strengths. first is in the color. It has color on all the right places. vermilion, pink, yellow, orange hit the right spot. Of course, it wouldn't be Bottega Veneta without the neutrals and there is plenty for you to enjoy.
The shapes and silhouettes are very classic. it is all about the styling. there are not complex shapes and the pieces are very women-friendly. Again, it would not be Bottega Veneta if there is no complexity in the work. every piece seems very simple but the surface treatment, the use of shiny and delicate silk to other dull fabrics and creating complex panels creates a very luxurious, textural and interesting appeal.
There is also the element of hard and soft. Massive belts pretty much function like corsets populate the collection. it creates a nice contrast of soft and hard. I think that is what they were getting at. the balance of soft femininity, while keeping it strong and rigorous. There are also silhouettes that I feel are reminiscent of the 50s and I love it.
Again, the shapes and cuts are understated but the fabric technology was beautiful and complex. it is a very chic and lovely Bottega Veneta collection. I think the dresses and jackets will be very big hits. There are so many options to choose from looking at the first half of the collection.
The middle part of the collection is just divine. it is an explosion of summer colors. again, there is a lot of paneling and asymmetrical cuts but the finished shapes still are very subdued and understated. The last part because of the technique they used to cut chiffon and transform them to designs that are very modern and not frou frou. pieces.
That reminds me. I think the colors are very Mediterranean, particularly Greek. They really ventured with color-blocking for this collection. Again the real fun is on the dresses. Plenty of color blocked dresses will keep you wanting for more summer days and parties to visit. Again, there is a divide between the flirtatious tunics and lovely belted dresses. Lovely! You know what, I said too much, Watch it for yourself! Again, Fatale Fashion was very fast in releasing this new vid so thanks to them! what a chic way to start Monday!

I don't know what to say. After several months of bag hunting (on a very tight budget), I think I found the right kind of bag that will fit me. This bag is spacious enough and has enough interesting details to keep me curious about it for quite some time. The textured leather is very rugged and seems durable enough. The canvas material gives it a bit of a casual flair. It seems like it morphed into something. I love the front compartments and the buckle detailing. For the price, it is totally a great bag. I also love the colors. It seems like it will stay clean for a very long time! This ASOS holdall has a bit of a vintage feel that really works for me. Do you think it's a good bag? I think it's great! So yey for me!

I Never Liked White Shoes But...

MARC JACOBS MEN'S CANVAS DERBY SHOE- £270.00

I had to reconsider when I saw this shoe. This pair is by Marc Jacobs and it combines the classic shape of a derby shoe but with a twist. There is always a twist when it comes to Marc Jacobs and this one is just one perfect example. The material is Canvas (yes you heard me, like on regular sneakers). it was reinforced by a Goodyear welt to hold the structure. The shoes are at once classic and athletic at the same time. It is just to die for. The soles were handmade. The entire shoe was crafted in Italy.

I can think of so many styles and settings in which these babies will be so appropriate. Let me share you an easy one just to give you a little feel:

The upper is athletic and timeless.

This is a great find for those of you who likes unexpected things but subtle enough to fit in your existing wardrobe.

Wow, Anna Dello Russo was working those heels! I really think she is a dedicated fashionista. She loves everything fashion. Most importantly, I love her discipline. It takes a lot of stamina and a lot of passion to keep up with the trends hot off the runway. I should take yoga. Did you see how limber she was? I just want to take yoga for health purposes. I've been very stressed out lately I just want to puke. And yes, I want to be leaner and look better LOL!

Rich Girls Being Rich: Chanel Cruise 2012

The location: Hotel Du Cap, Antibes at the French Riviera. The place of the uber rich and influential aristocrats.

The clothes: For what it's worth, the clothes were very understated except for the bejeweled buttons and embroideries every now and then. overall, perfect for a summery day.

What strikes me is that Lagerfeld went for a hodge podge of options. He did not work on a particular theme. He went for clothes that wealthy women will wear and that is what we got (except for the boot/slipper footwear, that, I question how pragmatic that piece would be. maybe for someone who only wants to make their toes a little bronzy perhaps?).

If you have the money, it would be best to buy the frothy chiffon numbers in various prints. they are gorgeous and it feels good when the wind gently lifts up the fabric. These dresses are quintessential pieces for the wardrobe of a rich girl. These are a lot better than nasty mesh tops.

I think I still love the last cruise collection over this one. Maybe I am more of a Saint Tropez person than Antibes :P That's me daydreaming in a humid afternoon.

I really prefer the Pre-Fall collections of Chanel since it is the Metier d'Arts collection (or is it for both?). Nonetheless, I missed out on my reviews for womenswear this past season so it will be exciting to get back to talking about all things fashionable. One of the best collections to talk about is Chanel. For me, there is subtle innovation in everything Karl Lagerfeld does. What I love about the Cruise collection are the venues. From Lido to Saint Tropez, the venues set the tone for the collection and it makes it more enthralling and breathtaking.

The Cruise 2010 collection was my favorite one of all and so while we wait the new collection in a few days, Let's enjoy this beautiful collection that was presented in Venice, Italy.

The "Haul" of Plenty- Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

I just purchased my own copy of the exhibition catalog entitled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. The exhibition has already opened for public viewing and will be present in the Metropolitan Museum of Art until the last week of July 2011

I am one of the unfortunate ones who won't be able to visit the exhibition personally. Nonetheless, I wanted to show my support and respect to the late designer by at least, having a copy of the exhibition book that documents hundreds of beautiful archival pieces from Alexander McQueen's past collections since the early 90s.

The exhibition was curated by Andrew Bolton and it was a beautiful one. the exhibition was divided into several sections focusing on the romantic side of McQueen. He is a self confessed romantic, finding beauty even in the most gruesome of things like death, decay and of course, art and life.

Romantic Mind
The first gallery focuses on the designer's impeccable tailoring due to his Saville Row Training as well as his knowledge in several methods of pattern making. He is a very strong purveyor of traditional methods of making clothes since. He said himself that you cannot deconstruct without knowing how to construct.

Romantic Gothic

This gallery looks into the darker side of his works, looking at Medieval era and19th century Victorian silhouettes. McQueen was regarded as the Edgar Alan Poe of fashion and his dark, gothic works resonate a very deep, personal, almost autobiographical element to his sartorial ethos.

Cabinet of Curiosities
Here, the exhibition takes on the 18th and 19th century but it really highlights some of the most important artistic ventures and inspiring accessories from hats to artisanal pieces especially from his collections like No. 13, Joan, The Overlook and others.

Romantic Nationalism

Here we see alluring works that are inspired by his homeland and his heritage. We see his unbelievable sense of narrative and incredible love for British history as well as Scottish history. You will also see here pieces from his iconic Highland Rape collection which is on the second room, right after a series of pieces from "The Widows of Culloden" and "The Girl who Lived in the Tree."

Romantic Exoticism

Here, the focus is on McQueen's unique way of utilizing cultures, particularly of China and Japan from the silhouettes, embellishments and details. you will also find elements from America and other cultural aspects and how he manages to transform each cultural element and make it even more exotic, yet keeping the identifiable McQueen DNA. This gallery also features another iconic collection entitled "Voss" that was set in a glass box.

Romantic Primitivism

Here, McQueen shows a raw edged take on the elements, taking inspiration from things or putting them in a macabre way yet exquisitely impressive. You will find pieces from "It's a Jungle Out there", "Eshu" and "Irere" where the iconic Oyster Dress was first shown. it is an impeccable piece made of several hundred layers of silk organza that captures the organic lines seen in an oyster shell. He took these elements and transformed them into amazing pieces of his stories, from sunken pirate ships to African sensibilities.

Romantic Naturalism

Nature was one of the most pervasive themes of McQueen. It may not have been strictly based on nature but he used nature in a lot of his works. His "Sarabande" collection was flourishing with fresh flowers covering impeccable understructures. Of course, his final complete collection, "Plato's Atlantis" captures his idea of how the earth will transform and how people will mutate into otherworldly creatures.

So, yes, I will be waiting my copy of the catalog!

The Year of McQueen

Ever since the news of the death of Lee Alexander McQueen, the fashion world will never be the same. The word of his death has caused a lot of people across the web to revisit his works. For me, 2011 is the Year of McQueen, starting with an exceptional Fall 2011 collection that really captures the balance of the McQueen DNA in the more feminine hand of Sarah Burton.

Second was when the new Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton chose to wear an exceptional gown in collaboration with the brand for the iconic Royal wedding.

Third will be in a few days, the opening of the Metropolitan museum of art's beautiful and enigmatic exhibition entitled Alexander McQueen: Savage beauty.

A lot of things are awaiting for us who respect and love the brand even with the passing of the genius behind it. Sarah Burton is the only person capable of skyrocketing the brand to stratospheric success while keeping the McQueen tradition of artisan craftsmanship and impeccable tailoring.

Saks Fifth Avenue outdid itself for the beautiful recreation of the runway looks that includes the exact hair and make up styles done. The window displays include looks (runway and retail) from Spring 2008 (Madame Bleue) inspired by the late Isabella Blow) and Spring 2003(Irere) where the infamous Oyster dress and the beautiful Birds of paradise prints give the glimpse to McQueen's impressive use of digital printing on fabric.

A "Visionary" Update

If you remember last year, I got two copies of Visionaire 58: Spirit, a Tribute to Lee Alexander McQueen. (click here and here). For the longest time, I did not want to let go of the [pulp] paper, but I decided that I will try it out. I took one of the prints and now, I am waiting for a few weeks to let it germinate.
