Tobias tries to talk to the woman but she deosn't understand English. Once he realises she is speaking Italian, he switches to it. Where did this new talent come from? Why is he in Italy, when he lived in Britain? What happened? That is the big question everyone was asking. He didn't need to call any family, since he was alone in the world but he called some close friends and found out that it was a world wide event. He had been wroking as an agent of a global organization before "the event" as it was later called. He was one of the top agants assigned to find out where the year had dissapeared to. Slowly him and the team dicover that it was another global organzation that had done it, to reap profits that would make the whole history of American profit look miniscule. They had help by and were somewaht controlled by a small group of aliens that were near in human form, but with much more advanced technology. In time Tobias and his team, find and take down this hidden organization. Not yet sure what to do with the aliens, or if Tobias falls in love in the process. It shouldn't be hard to go just about anyway.

Among the ruins four heroes are found. Each on their own mission to find the gem of Azur. Galzor, a muscle bound giant of a man, tortured by his past. He seeks the jewel to hopefully heal his injured soul. Altan an alchemist of note. He wants the gem to finally answer the greatest of all alchemy questions. How to turn lead into gold. Susan, a newcomer to that art of necromancy, wants to gain the great power by using the power of the gem. Tanira, an elementilist that needs the gem to save a people that she encountered recently; that are imprisoned by a another nation. These four will togehter defeat the defences of the gem and then by slowly using it for each of their goals; after much bickering; become good friends and some of them lovers.

The story is about a wild elementalist, an alchemist, a necromancer, and an ignorant sage. It starts in a magical alternate universe. The story begins with a tragedy and ends with violence. The creation of a magical artifact plays an important role.

David has to spend x amount of time in each pub. x being whatever the bartender of each noble establaishment decides it is. Each barkeep has soemtthing that david has to do before he is allowed out; be it to drink the volcano (a drink that has a legend through out the city) or to stay in the pub until the barkeep can truly see that he has connected with someone. Through the visits to the pubs, David learns about them, his uncle and the whole pub-dwellers way of life. He comes to appreciate it and it's inhabitants. It's a story of self discovery and that everyone no matter what they do and where is worth getting to know.

Achilles continually kills off more and more of the zampir that are threating Gwen as they try to escape to a "safe zone" and slowly but surely Gwen discovers that not only is she not even human, she is the heir to the throne in a realm hidden from humanity. The zampir work for the man that would take control of the throne if she were to die and who is in power currently, because she was whisked away to the human world to live there peacefully. With no knowledge of who she really was, but at least safe. They discovered that she was the rightful ruler and that's what caused all the forces to go after her. Achilles was part of "the hand" the protectors of the royal family. The zampir killed them all in the aftermath of the throne changing hands. He has survived because he is the best and most talented of the order in eons. He will stop at nothing to get Gwen back and on the throne; but he has many black memories in his past that still plague him. In the night Gwen learns that with being the ruler, somes powers which mark her as one of the royal family. She uses these to great affect to save even Achilles' life in the struggle to gain control of the throne and save her true country.

The light side would become an endless dessert; cooked by the sun. The dark side an eternal land of ice and snow. The band between the two, where the light is less intense or the darkness less complete would be where everthing but the most adapted of creatures would live. There wouldn't be seasons and with that no real change in temperature. There would be very powerful winds from the dark to the light side. There would very likely develop three different kinds of civilizations. The dessert poeple, that live on near to no water and survive severe dust storms, unbelievable heat and use the sun's power in nearly everythng they do. The blizzard people that have ample water, but struggle to keep warm and even just to find there way. They will have simple ways to live without seeing. Chances are the will use water as a perpetual form of power to power great cities that travel with the power source over the chillingly cold wasteland. (power source: the ice is chopped and mashed into flowing water which in turn powers the needs of the citizens and the future chopping and mashing of more ice.) Those in the strip of land between the extremes, known as the borderland will have comparatively mild temperatures and a measure of fertile lands. They will also have an unlimited and very powerful power source: the wind. This will make it the choosen place to live and will lead to great slums as those in the harsher climates stream into the borderland looking for an easier life. This may also lead to crime, diseases and war. The idyllic setting ruined by the wants and needs of the humans that think less of the good of the many and more of the good of the one. This could be the story of three heroes: A dessert, a blizzard and a borderland inhabitant.
