thanks for the quick response.

I promise to act responsibly. I won't use bots and won't write about
things I do not fully understand. I contribute to the French-speaking
Wikipedia with thousands of manual edits since 2006 without any trouble.

I promise to start very slowly and take feedback into account.

Thank you,

Hi everyone,

Just like every year since 2020, we're organizing a little CTF very much like GRCon's during an exposition event at our University (https://idm.uy/). Since it is completely online, we encourage people from all over to join and play. The only caveat is that it is in Spanish, but many English-speaking people have played it in the past.

If you're interested, you may read all the details at our webpage https://ctf.idm.uy/ (or directly at https://eva.fing.edu.uy/course/view.php?id=1557&section=1#tabs-tree-start). Hi Everyone,

I'm heading up OUTLYR Space - a non-profit foundation aiming to be a Global Space Agency. We're working on a space network concept (using GNU Radio), and our 2nd paper was accepted at iac2026.org this year. I'm looking for volunteer help (min 4 hr/week) to complete testing by early October; no pay but you'll be a co-author, and free trip/stay/registration at the conference in Turkey for up to three contributors :). Send me a note if you're interested, thanks for reading!

Hi all,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on this summer as part of
Google Summer of Code 2026 with LibreCube: a pure-Python LoRa physical-layer
receiver (softlora) and an SDR-based TinyGS ground station (tinygs).

softlora decodes LoRa packets from IQ recordings or live SDR streams using
only NumPy/SciPy. Synchronization implements the three-stage CFO/STO estimator in [1], and I ported gr-lora_sdr's frame_sync block as an alternative front-end. It's
tested on synthetic AWGN sweeps, over-the-air captures, and real satellite
passes (SF7-12).

I was checking some code[1], and found some null pointer deref and other precondition issues.

One interesting pattern was when the use happens in a constructor initializer list, but then the actual check is done in the constructor body.

Any opinions on what pattern should be used, here? One way is to simply move the usage below the check. But that prevents the compiler from enforcing e.g. that d_ted is initialized before d_interp, which uses d_ted, is initialized.

This also applies to other UB stuff like glfsr_source_b_impl.cc which shift left by a potentially UB-triggering value before it bounds checks it (also it should not allow 64 exactly, and probably instead needs to special case it).

> Hey Marcus,
>
> Your paper, "Determination of Earth’s Orbital Parameters Using Doppler Measurements” is
> a very nice paper. It’s good to see how well your measurements
> fit the model. You really put a lot of work into your experiment.
>
> My understanding is that Jupiter’s contribution to the Earth’s motion is
> the next biggest effect on the otherwise elliptical motion of the Earth’s orbit.
>
> Wonder if Jupiter is contributing to your residuals.
>
> Thanks

It was a combined effort between me and Daniel Marlow (emeritus at
Princeton, and a member of the CCERA crew).

My guess is that Jupiter's effect would be very small, and thus very
much in the noise. Jupiter's orbital period is about 11.8 years,
so you'd need a LOT of this data to be able to see any effects with
enough SNR to be confident....

We're actually spending "idle time" on the telescope to measure the
Doppler of the H1 *absorption* feature in M8. Since it is very close
to the plane of the ecliptic, there's less uncertainty due to
coordinate rotation, and the feature is very narrow compared to emission
features,

Your paper, "Determination of Earth’s Orbital Parameters Using Doppler Measurements” is
a very nice paper. It’s good to see how well your measurements
fit the model. You really put a lot of work into your experiment.

My understanding is that Jupiter’s contribution to the Earth’s motion is
the next biggest effect on the otherwise elliptical motion of the Earth’s orbit.

Wonder if Jupiter is contributing to your residuals.

Thanks

yay! Haven't heard of you in a while! I'll talk to the others about your account, don't
know whether we can do something about that.

Yes, that formula seems strange. That applies, sadly, to all our three AGCs. Hm.

I'm all for completely rewriting / pruning the AGCs, especially since nobody really seems
to have any formalized idea of what they are *supposed* to do. I'd deprecate all three of
them instantly, but I just haven't got a good replacement.

Best,

>      }
> ```
>
> I'm not talking about the "not sure about this", but about `if ((tmp) >
> _gain) {`.
>
> Should that not be `> 0.0`? `tmp` is already current magnitude minus reference,
> so should not attack vs decay rate be decided on whether it's above or below
> reference, not above and below `reference + current gain`?
>
> Maybe there's a good reason, but in my mind this means that my input is such
> that the current gain is normally 1000, input is ~1e-3 (noise) to 1e-1 (signal),
> reference is 1, then the attack rate will basically never be used?
>

>
> I'm not sure if this is why my PWM experiments stabilize, just not to around
