sending email from sql server 2008 r2 - prerequisite

Hello,
I want to send email using SQL Server Database Mail from my localhost to a yahoo email id. I get the below error when testing the Send Email option. The To address is a yahoo aaccoutn and the From address is also another yahoo account. Please let me know
what are the prerequisites to get the email feature working using SQL Server.

Checking for file existance via an ASP.Net/VB.Net website?

Hi -
I know all about File.Exists in VB. I know that it should work, but in my situation, it is not. Currently our site builds an image string based on the user id, then goes to our image folder on the server and retrieves it. If the image doesn't exist, it displays the broken image icon.

HI I have a simple xml document and a schema associated with it. For some reason when i plug them into my code I do not get typed results back. Im thinking it is the format of the xml or the xsd file because i have other similar examples that do return typed

I'm getting some problems in an xml elaboration using .NET 2.0 DOM. What I'm tring to do is insert a node in an already existing xml tree; the xml root contains definition of namespaces, but when I add my new node I don't want any namespace definition on

I understand that I can buy the live stream from the likes of yahoo , xignite etc and display it on my site. Hi:Need your suggestion:I have about 20 retailer shops address in USA, the addresses are saved in my database table, now I want to show a USA map on Contact Us page, and show a Red Spot (or Flag) which indicating the addresses I pull out from the table.
The main purpose is let visitor to find the close retailer shop, visitor can zoom in or out, but once the page first load, it shows the USA map.

I have an object hierarchy modeled as many to many relationships, in my database. For example, College has subobject Course and Course has subobject Books.
I want to load my object hierarchy with efficient queries. Based on an EF recipe from Mr Hirani's book, I found using SelectMany to be extremely fast for what I want to do.

I have written an EPOS program using C#, EF and a SQL compact Database.
When a product button is pressed in the application it basicly writes the transaction details (price, datetime, etc..) to the SQL CE database and opens the cashdrawer.

How best to handle invalid EntityKeys when generating model from a view

I am working with a model that has been generated from a view. Since it was generated from the view, it generated EntityKeys that were incorrect. I can correct the EntityKeys generated, but then if it is ever re-generated, it will re-generate incorrect
EntityKeys. The problem that this causes is that some of these invalid EntityKeys cause a runtime error when the code tries to change a key value. So, my question: is there a reliable way to handle this?

Generalizing Polygon Data?

Within some commerical GIS packages one can generalize polygon data to improve display on the web. Basically the generalize algorithm removes a certain number of vertices. You lose some detail but the resultant polygons are obviously quicker to render.

Not sure if this is the best Forum for my problem if it's not the best place "sorry" and can you please let me know where to post it?
I have a Web Site project in VS2008, C#, .NET 3.5 and the Access to the Code-Behind has lost it's functionalilty.
i.e. I have a Button on a page... dbl-clk on button should take me to the Click Event of the button. It does nothing?
I tried exporting the Tools|Import Export Settings and re-setting them to the Default for Web Site... still no change...

XAML editor stops outlining

Every time I open up a XAML editor, the outline does not show. I have to use the context menu to stop outlining. Then again, to start outlining. It does remembers what I have collapsed once I restart outlining. Its only the XAML that does this, Visual
Basic does not.
Is there some configuration thing that got messed up that I could fix?...

So here I am working after hours trying to design a web page in ASP.NET using the VS2010 IDE. After nearly 2 hours of designing\coding I decide to try and test the page, but before I do I notice something is out of place on the web form, so I try to
