He’s checked around a new york luxury hotel and a smaller, less expensive hotel and they seem to be gearing up for company dinners and festive events more than business ones. So my friend is thinking maybe he should wait till next year to have his event since most people are likely in a holiday mood right now or will be taking their long year-end leave soon.

Niche blogs aside, right now, it looks pretty much to me that the blogs that blog about nothing are the ones getting the most attention. Take the mommy blogs, for instance. Some are simply pictures and posts about how naughty the child is or what they’ve been eating but yet they’re raking in lots of comments.

I don’t know about you but I like comments with some meat on them, not the empty ones like “oh, that’s so cute” or “oh, she’s so pretty” day in, day out. It’d nice if people would say something constructive, you know, something for everyone to chew on.

That’s the son, not the father. Ever since the son took over, the quality of service has gone down the tubes. Lots of people have been complaining about the way the business is being run now, and if they don’t do something about it, they’re going to lose many more loyal customers in the long run.

I’m not complaining. Free is good. But frankly how many t-shirts do I need that makes me feel like a walking advertisement for some random company whose products I may or may not even use?

Having said that, I received a diary organizer from one company which looked expensive and I was grateful for that because it’s something I could use. Then I got an Imprinted flash drive which is great to have. I don’t even mind that it carries the company’s logo because it’s not for public display like on a t-shirt, know what I mean?

It’s time to start advertising your products and getting the word out in the offline world as well if your business involves holiday-related items. I expect many shoppers are looking to finish their shopping early to avoid the last minute rush.

So that’s something you want to look at in planning your ad campaigns. Also remember to stress the benefits of your items in your ad campaigns, not the features.

I figure these are things that people would be looking for towards the end of the year, and quite honestly, I could use the few extra bucks commission. It’s best to get an early start. I think I started promoting pretty late in the day last year and didn’t quite see the results. Let’s see how I go with that.

I think working at home has spoilt me. I wake up in the morning and I get to my office in two steps! I don’t even have to get changed or brush my hair and I’m off working! How cool is that!

Can you blame me if the thought of getting into a stuffy suit or a tuxedo shirt (if I were a guy) freaks me out? Also the fact that I don’t own that many business suits any more since I don’t get to wear them often.

I can’t afford to pay for a theme or for someone to develop one for me. So I kinda like the idea of a manufactured home for my blogs that allows me to just walk in with my suitcase of zipped files and databases.

Well, of course, a lot of times, I will tweak the themes myself. I learnt to do that myself so again I wouldn’t have to fork out money to have little customizations done to my fancy.

I’ll continue to keep my eye out for free themes and hope the developers out there haven’t stopped making them. Frankly some of the best themes are free. But why have some of the developers stopped making them.

Maybe you’ve seen me in one of those ads for acne treatment, she said. Almost instantly, she had my attention and it made me want to find out more about where and when she’d appeared in that ad.

How effective is that in opening up a conversation with someone so you can tell them more about yourself or your business! If she’d just responded with something like, oh I’m not sure where you’ve seen me before, our conversation might’ve ended right there.

Definitely worth coining your own 20 second elevator speech and practise it till it pops out without your even having to think about it. Do you have an effective elevator speech that’s helped you in your business networking? What’s it sound like?
