RCB took the field for the 6th time at home, keen to defend its unbeaten run at home. On a day when the clouds loomed large, PWI captain Aaron Finch chose to bowl after winning the toss. Sandalwood star Sanjana was present at the toss, and gave the saplings to the captains, who signed and exchanged them.
The skies did open up briefly but the actual showers began when Chris Gayle decided to begin his onslaught. What transpired in the next 20 overs would stay etched in everybody’s memories for a lifetime. Not a single soul moved from the seat when the Caribbean Giant was batting. During the brief rain break, audiences in the owner’s lounge indulged in making pledges and sticking them to the pledge tree. A number of people also got their carbon footprint calculated aswell and vowed to honour their pledges after coming across the results.

So, after a thrilling last ball encounter against Dhoni’s
CSK, RCB was back at its home ground to take on Delhi Daredevils. The game was

RCB’s third home game fell on the

fortress. The game began with the customary signing of the sapling at the toss
by the two captains to show their support to RCB’s green cause. The audiences

footprint calculator. A lot of people were intrigued by the amount of emissions
being made.

The 2nd RCB home game of this IPL season was against the Sun Risers Hyderabad, who are led by Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batsman, Kumar Sangakara. The game began with, what has become tradition now, the signing of a sapling by the two captains and exchanging it with each other as a symbol of mutual commitment and support for the green cause.RCB’s been committed to the green cause since IPL 2010. It continually encourages all its stakeholders to adopt sustainable means of living. The fans, players and management could be seen wearing the green ribbons in support of the green cause. Also, RCB always encourages its fans to tell us about how they’ve been contributing to the cause of sustainability. The audiences in the owner’s lounge had the opportunity to write about their contribution to the environment on leaves attached to a pledge tree.
In the end, a Virat Kohli special sealed the game for the team in red and gold. Fans could be seen availing the the exclusive opportunity to car pool to the stadium to watch matches by their beloved Team RCB by being offered the option to travel comfortably whilst saving time, money and fuel!

IPL 6: The Green Buzz Begins!

So, IPL 6 began with the much anticipated fanfare in Bangalore with the big clash between MI and the home team RCB. Keeping up the tradition of the sapling exchange,RCB’s on ground green initiatives began this year with Ricky Ponting and Virat Kohli signing a sapling and exchanging with each other as a symbol of mutual commitment and support for the green cause.
RCB fans also joined the team and enthusiastically sported green ribbons. Fans are also being provided the exclusive opportunity to car pool to the stadium to watch matches by their beloved Team RCB by being offered the option to travel comfortably whilst saving time, money and fuel!
The tight match had the entire stadium stay packed till the last ball was bowled. With the match ending in RCB’s favour, fans celebrated the victory as Bangalore came alive past midnight. But, despite the late hour, BMTC’s Big 10 buses stood ready in front of the stadium, to help RCB fans commute conveniently and to promote usage of public transport together with RCB in helping the cause of reducing pollution.

Chris Gayle is 5.1% Green!

Recently, a post on Facebook said “Chris Gayle is 5.1% Green. Virat Kohli is 11.4% Green. Do you use a solar water heater or an electric vehicle? Then, you can pledge your emission reductions to your favourite RCB player and make them more green!” This post got about 200 shares on Facebook and many people wondered what can RCB possibly mean by saying Virat Kohli is 11.4% Green.

This curious mind browsed the page given in the status. Boy, was I surprised! RCB is not just writing stuff. They actually mean that. While people are actively pledging reductions, they are doing so to RCB or to their favorite player. When an RCB player plays in an IPL, he leaves a ‘carbon footprint’ which RCB wants to offset. Virat Kolhi is 11.4% Green means that just 11.4 % of his carbon footprint has been offset so far.

If your favorite player is Chris Gayle and you want him to become the most Green player, then understand that you are a part of the team and not just the 12th man; do something.
