Today I came across the most annoying, strangest time-waster site which has a flash embedded page packed with Simon Panrucker's beans game!

I played this game and absolutely loved it. It was the most bizarre and kookiest thing I've ever seen, but kind of addicting at the same time...

When the beans looked at their friends, I smashed them. I'm scared at how much I enjoyed that!

Last week, I have purchased a new Laptop and I was quite unsure about its configuration and thus I was in need of an All-in-one Software desperately which lists out a summary of my hardware along with its Statistics.

For last few days , I was wondering a way to send SMS by my laptop using a Bluetooth connection to my phone, and finally I got the answer for my problem. You can also send SMS using Nokia Ovi Suite, follow these steps:

Download and Install the latest version of Nokia Ovi Suite from here.
Connect your phone via Bluetooth or cable from Tools => Add New Device

Open Messaging window inside the Ovi Suite

Click on “Create message…”

Type the phone number or name of contact(if you have synchronized your contacts earlier)

Type the message and click send.

You can carry out ever long conversations, without even touching your mobile. It is useful when you have to send messages which are stored as any text file in your hard disk, or can be useful when you don’t want to type on your phone, or you can try it just for fun!

Firefox is undoubtedly the best browser and to make it more user friendly, developers all around the world continue to add value to Firefox. Just a couple of days back I came across two add-ons that I would like to share with you all. Here they are:

Text to Speech

This is a very great tool to convert text to speech. The best thing about this is it is too simple to use. I have also written one post on converting the text to audio. Here is that post. But this one is different, one just have to select the text that one wishes to convert to audio, and then just click the button. You will hear about the audio and even have the option to download it in .mp3 format. It is developed by an Indian Vikram Joshi.

Another amazing feature of this add-on is its vulnerability to read text in many languages. Below is the screenshot showing the options :

But the thing which I don’t like is that it can’t be used offline. But I'm sure that the developers are working on it and soon we can convert the text to audio offline also. But this is not the thing that will stop you from downloading this add-on. Here is the link to download Text To Speech.

Fission

Another great add-on that I came across is Fission. This add-on makes your browser Safari style and makes it more stylish. This will show the loading of the page in the address bar and change the cosmetics of your browser. Beautiful, compact and stylish are the words that are best used to describe the add-on.

But this add-on has a bug. It is not compatible with all the themes. Therefore, one has to check the compatibility before using. Here is the link to download the Fission.

GMail not working

Today, I woke up at 5.30 am, opened my GMail account and started attaching some files to a mail, then I saw that after some time each attachment uploading was getting failed, I retried many times, then I refreshed my Gmail page and observed that GMail was down. It was my first ever personal experience that it was not working for me. I am not sure about what happened at that time but I get following error messages while working on it.

I am a user of Tata Docomo with Nokia 3110c, I was unable to have its GPRS settings to browse internet. I’ve also contacted customer support at Tata Docomo, but there was no positive response. So, I gave it a try myself, and it worked! and now I want to share with you.

You need to create custom access point to access internet in Nokia 3110c. Steps involved are:

Open Menu→ Settings→ Configuration→ Personal Configuration Settings
To create a new entry click Add new, or go to Options and select Add new
From the list, select Access point
Set Account name as “Tata.Docomo.Internet”
Then, select Access point settings → Bearer settings, and set Packet data access point as “tata.docomo.internet”

Now, open your mobile web browser and you’ll be able to surf internet on it. I’ve personally tested this for my connection in Haryana, India.

Delete accidental facebook posts

It happens with us, that sometimes, something unexpected gets posted on our facebook profile. Here is the way to remove any of crap you have ever posted on your profile, and do not want to share it with your friends any longer. Just open your profile, and hover mouse over right corner of post, you will find remove.

Click on remove, you’ll be asked to confirm about deletion. Click on Delete.

This can be used to delete any type of wall post on your profile.

Tab Previews in Firefox

With latest version of Firefox (Firefox 3.6) you can get previews of tabs while switching between them. These tab previews are just like Alt – Tab Previews in Windows. Moreover, these are having extra feature of searching between tabs too… and most importantly, you don’t have to install any extension for enabling this feature.

You can also get this type of previews in Firefox, by pressing Ctrl + Tab, after enabling “browser.ctrlTab.previews”, in about:config. To do this, just open about:config in your Firefox browser window, click on the button, “I’ll be careful,I promise!”

This will open Firefox configuration window, from where you can set the value of “browser.ctrlTab.previews” as true. Just type “browser.ctrlTab.previews” as filter and double click to set as true, and you are done! Give it a try by pressing Ctrl + Tab

You can always set back the value to “false” if you don’t like the changes.

Selecting files in Windows 7

Recently, I discovered a new way to select files in Windows 7, its amazing, one must check it out. It makes work of multiple selection a lot easier. Windows 7 supports checkbox selection. It enable users to select files by help of check boxes. You can enable checkbox selection in Windows 7 by following these steps-

Press start key, and type Folder Options
Click to open folder options, then click on view tab and check on “Use checkbox to select items” & click OK

And you are done!!

Now, you can see check boxes, whenever you’ll start selecting anything. Like shown here

If you don’t like this feature, then you can turn it off anytime, you’d like to…

Create Windows 7 bootable USB

Many of us are so lazy these days that we do n’t want to use optical media for any purpose. Now, even Mini laptops do n’t include DVD +RW drive in them. My friend having a similar problem came to me, he was not having any optical media drive in hp Mini laptop. So, he asked me about how could he be able to load Windows 7 or Vista into it, and the answer is by creating a bootable usb pen drive. It is very simple to create a bootable USB drive for Windows 7. Here is the whole guide to create Windows 7 USB installation

Preparing the USB drive

Get a 4GB or more capacity of USB pen drive, SD/MMC card might also work (not tested by me).

Format the pen drive in NTFS file system and copy all the data of Windows Installation DVD into USB drive.

Click on start and click Run… Type cmd and press enter. Run cmd as administartor.

Now open the USB drive, for example J: drive is my USB drive, I’ll type J: and press enter.

Type-
cd boot
bootsect /nt60 J: /force

This will make your pen drive as bootable media, adn you can install Windows, as usual from like from DVD installation.

It has been my problem for last few years, that whenever I use to login to my Gtalk chat account, I use to see many of names written in stylized fonts, which sometimes makes the name meaning less. So, I recently discovered a way out to this problem, and wanted to share it with you.

If you are also having similar problem, then just login to your Gtalk chat client or GMail chat client…

Just login to your Gtalk chat client, and then right click on the contact you want to rename, and then click “Rename”. There you enter correct name, and now it will appear like what you’ve entered, whenever you’ll log in again.

By activating Missed call alerts, you can get notifications, about the calls you might have missed when your mobile was switched off or out of reach. They put in a lot of effort to discuss the management and the strategy involved by companies in Indian market. So for those who are aspiring for MBA, this would be an icing on the cake. Also this site is open to everyone, anyone can share his ideas with them.
