Karting Tires – How to Mount Go Kart Tires

Replacement of karting tires carries with it a risk of injury, but it can be done using proper safety precautions. The main challenge to mounting go kart tires is due to the fact that the wheels are one piece. The first time you attempt to mount karting tires will probably take you several hours, but don’t get discouraged because each time you perform the process it will get easier and faster.

The first step in mounting karting tires is to heat the tire in an oven or tire box. Since most people do not own tire boxes an oven will suffice. When an oven is not available it is also possible to simply lay the tire out in the sun for a couple of hours. This isn’t the most efficient approach, but it will help. Heating go kart tires will make removal easier.

Karting Tires – Discharging Air and Removing Bead Locks

Discharge the air from the tire by inserting something inside the tire valve and continuing until you no longer hear the air discharging. Most rims for karting tires will have 3 screws, also called bead locks. Remove these bead locks using either a bead lock tool or the proper size of Allen wrench. Remove the valve core and set it aside in a safe place.

The next step is to break the bead by placing the tire under a bead breaker and then applying pressure to the tire by forcing down the lever. Some bead breakers will allow you to break beads on both sides at the same time while others will require you to break one side at a time. Used bead breakers for karting tires can often be bought for under $50 on shopping sites such as eBay.

Before sliding the tire off it is a good idea to use some type of non-oil-based lubricate such as a spray-on soap-based liquid around the rim and tire. This will make it easier to slide off the tire. Do not use a tire iron as it can cause damage. Push down one side of the tire until it looks flat. On the non-flat side of the tire, push it over the rim until the top non-flat side of the tire comes off of the rim. At this point, one side will be off the rim while the other side will still be on the rim. Repeat the process by flattening down one side of the tire and then forcing the non-flattened side off the rim. This may take quite a bit of manual force.

It’s now time to mount the new go kart tire. Be sure to check the tire itself to make sure the arrows are pointing in the right direction. After mounting, the visible outer side of the tire will show the arrows pointing forward in the direction the karting tires will revolve.

Lubricate the inside edge of the tire to be mounted by spraying on a mixture of soap and water. It’s best to start by inserting the inside part of the rim (the side that will not be visible once the karting tires are mounted and placed on a go kart). Push the inside part of the rim down into the tire opening and with a rolling motion push it until the inside of the rim is completely inside the tire.

Inserting the outside part of the rim into the tire can be a bit more difficult. Squeeze one section of the tire until both the inside and outside areas have been pushed close together. The middle of the tire should now be creased down toward the rim. With the tire on its side on the ground (with the outside of the tire facing up), push down on the squeezed area until the outside part has been forced over the rim.

Before adding air make sure the edges of the karting tires are outside of the bead locks. If the bead locks are not inside the karting tires edge it can cause tearing. Spray some lubricant onto the edges of the karting tires before inflating. Using an air pressure hose add air until you hear the two loud pops as the tire pops into place. Tighten down the bead locks, making sure not to tighten them too tightly. Adjust the air pressure according to the manufacturers suggestions. Spray your soap and water solution around the bead locks to make sure no air is leaking in those areas.

The Ideal System for Buying Cheap Go Karts – 4 Vital Steps

A large amount of go kart enthusiasts believe that popular go karts will be expensive to buy. Nevertheless, if you are looking to buy cheap go karts there are several little-known ideas that you should be aware of. By applying these straightforward procedures you may perhaps be able to find some cheap go karts and save up to 50% off the normal retail cost.

Cheap Go Karts – Spend Less than You Imagine

As hard as it is to imagine, you do not need to shell out a bunch of cash for a go cart. Finding top quality cheap go karts is not out of the question, it just requires sufficient discipline to adhere to a few straightforward time-proven conventions. Find out the ultimate method to purchasing fantastic, but cheap go karts.

There is nothing quite as exhilarating as racing a top-quality go kart. Go kart racing is amazingly exciting and is now an enormously fashionable activity today. Racing a swift go kart through tight corners in extreme traffic can truly get the adrenaline pumping. And it’s all the more gratifying knowing that you were able to buy your solid well-designed and well-built go kart at the cheapest possible prices. Cheap go karts are available; it simply takes following some time-tested tips to find them.

With some discipline and patience cheap go carts can be uncovered for as much as 50% off the retail price. And if you’re of the opinion that these cheap go karts are of a lower quality because of their low prices, think again. It’s possible to locate a high quality go kart with a rock-solid well-built go kart frame, powerful engine, and high-grip go kart tires at rock bottom prices.

You may think that locating cheap go karts cannot be done, but it’s much easier than you can think. A little persistence, discipline, and a few hours of labor are all it takes to find cheap go karts. Saving a lot of money can usually be done if you will expend some effort and time. The tactic I’m going to discuss is certainly not a new and original technique, but if done appropriately can give you some enormous savings. Locating cheap go karts is accomplished with simple price comparisons, but with a twist.

Finding Cheap Go Karts Used to be Much Harder

Before the age of the World Wide Web it took a lot more time and effort to locate cheap go karts. In the ancient days you had to drive to each and every go kart store, phone every last dealer, or both. It took a great deal of time and effort. Having the ability to go online has made finding and buying cheap go karts so much less of a problem. I’m not saying there won’t be any labor required, but the tiny amount of effort needed can reward you with some huge savings.

Step 1 – The opening act is to type terms such as “discounted go karts,” “go kart sale,” or “cheap go karts for sale” into the Google search engine. Given that go kart can be spelled many different ways you can also use “go cart for sale,” “go karting discounts,” or various other forms. This will generate many great online dealers selling all the fashionable brands. When the search results come up it’s an easy chore to go and see about 10 web sites, and possibly more, and write down all the selling prices for the varieties you are interested in. Great discounts and price reductions can additionally be located in the sponsored listings on the right side of the search results page. Click on a few sponsored ads and include their selling prices to your list.

Step 2 – Once you have finished creating your price comparison list of cheap go karts your next step is to repeat the entire process, but you will use a different search engine this time. Every search engine has distinctive results so it’s a first-rate idea to locate top online dealers of cheap go karts using several unique sources.

Go to Yahoo.com and visit a number of web sites they believe are highly rated online go kart dealers. Adding these selling prices to your original list of cheap go karts will be able to provide you with extra price comparisons. Like Google, they will include sponsored listings on their results pages too so check out several of these sponsored advertisements as well. As soon as you’re finished you will have a good list of prices for cheap go karts.

Step 3 – The next website to find cheap go karts is maybe the best place. Paying a visit to Google.com/products will permit you to do a Google Product Search. Searching Google products is very handy because your results will be listings of top go karts along with photos and selling prices.

Step 4 – For your last stop, pay a visit to eBay and do one more search for cheap go karts, adding these prices to your list. This web site is a bit different since you will have to keep track of some auctions for a few days. Noticing prices that others are willing to pay for various go kart models will give you a good idea of what a great price really is.

When you initially began your search you used broad terms, but after shopping around for awhile you will come to know what style or model of vehicle you like most. Once you become familiar with the different models you can search online with more precise terms. In other words, you are able to shop for specific models of go cart as a substitute for using wide-ranging terms. Applying more precise search terms can provide you with many more dealers and prices for the specific style of kart you are most interested in.

Now comes the hardest part. After visiting these many web sites and doing your price comparisons for the models and brands you like, it’s time to do nothing. For the next couple of weeks you will do nothing. A good sale can materialize at any time and for any purpose. By shopping prices over an extended period of time it’s possible to find a good sale that might have otherwise gone unrecognized. Examining prices over several weeks will boost your odds of locating lower prices, potentially saving you a great deal of money. You can also find cheap go kart tires using the same approach. And as fun as kart racing can be, it’s even more exciting knowing you found the cheapest price for your cheap go karts.

Go Kart Engines – What are the Differences?

If driving down to the nearest fun center for a 10 or 15 mph go kart ride is an entertaining and thrilling pastime, you don’t need to know very much regarding go karts. However, if you would like to race go carts and ratchet up the excitement in your life, even if you are a beginner, you must understand several issues that relate to go karts. High quality go kart tires are certainly important, but understanding the basics with regard to 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and electric go kart engines is also productive, and can ratchet up your level of success and enjoyment in the sport.

Open wheel go karts is about as thrilling as it gets. Watching expert Indy Car racers speed around a 2 1/2 mile track at maximum speeds greater than 230 mile per hour is a heart-pumping thrill. Open wheel racing has been around for decades and go kart racing is a variant of this motor sport. The difference is that go karts are smaller and race on shorter race tracks, but the excitement of operating a go kart can be just as high, especially with the improved and more powerful go kart engines of today. Moreover, a large number of drivers use go karts as a stepping stone to more costly, competitive, and even faster racing. Many of the top professional drivers got their initial start here.

All Go Kart Engines are Not the Same….

Some Go Kart Engines Will Produce Speeds Above 160 MPH

As with just about everything else there is a huge difference in the kind of go karts that can be ridden. Top speed is ordinarily determined by the size of the go kart engines, but it is additionally influenced by the quality of the go kart tires and go kart frame, specifically when maneuvering through hard corners. Super Karts are the swiftest variety and can hit maximum speeds of 160 mile per hour or more. They possess some of the most powerful go kart engines. However, if that’s just a bit too swift for your taste you can opt to drive other types of go karts that will slow the speed down for you. Recreational go carts, having smaller go kart engines and usually found at neighborhood fun centers, will offer maximum speeds that may reach just 10 or 15 mph so there’s a considerable range for you to pick from.

What Type of Motors do Family Fun Centers Use?

2-stroke or 4-stroke go kart engines are normally used in racing. Some 4-stroke go kart engines have been very popular in the family fun centers, but electric engines are growing in status. Electric powered engines have a number of benefits that make them great for short fun center race tracks. They are quite cheap to operate and maintain and only require a charge up when their power gets low. There is no need to fill them with costly gasoline since they get their power from long-lasting batteries. And lacking a gas powered engine to break down they are inexpensive to maintain. Furthermore, they can be raced indoors because they don’t give off any unsafe emissions. The only negative to electric go karts is that they require recharging after roughly 20 minutes of driving, but as high-performance battery technology improves the times are escalating.

Even Smaller Engines Have Power….

Reliable makers of 4-stroke go kart engines are Honda, Briggs and Stratton, and Tecumseh among others. These manufacturers produce low-powered go kart engines that will produce from 5 to 20 hp. These low-powered engines are generally used by beginning drivers or in amusement fun centers. But don’t let the small horse power fool you; some of these low-powered engines can propel a go cart at maximum speeds up to 50 mile per hour. This may not seem speedy to you, but once you begin racing through turns in a tiny go cart at these high speeds you’ll soon appreciate just how swift this really is.

Is 160 MPH Really Possible?

Some 4-stroke engines have extra muscle and will generate up to 50 horse power. These go kart engines can run at up to 11,000 rpm and are often used in many National Championship class races, but if you need greater speeds you’ll have to purchase a 2-stroke engine. Many 2-stroke engines will produce as little as 10 horse power or less, but a few can also provide 90 hp or more at 16,000 rpm. High speeds around 160 mile per hour can be achieved with these powerful 2-stroke engines.

In the olden days go kart engines were cooled by air, but with today’s greater speeds the majority of go kart engines are cooled by water. Many of the less high-powered 4-stroke engines are still air-cooled, but the highest hp engines are most commonly cooled by water. With the numerous differences in power and energy, there are go kart engines available that will be just right for your situation, no matter what kind of racing you would like to do.

The following educational video demonstrates how to remove governors in go kart engines.

Go Kart Tires

If you want to improve your go kart racing success you must buy decent go kart engines and the correct type of go kart tires for the weather and track conditions. If you purchase an incorrect type of tire it’ll put you at a huge disadvantage to the other go kart racers. And nobody wants to be in the back watching the faster go karts go cruising past. If you want to improve your go kart success and end up in victory lane more regularly you have to understand the specifics about go kart tires.

Two Styles of Go Kart Tires

Go kart tires are available in two styles, grooved and slick. Slicks are intended for dry race tracks whereas grooved tires, known as rain tires, are made for damp and wet course conditions. Another important factor is tire pressure. This can also play a significant part in your overall success as a racer. Depending on the weather and track conditions the pressure in your tires should be adjusted correctly if you expect to have success as opposed to experiencing nothing but frustration.

Go Kart Tires – Pressure is Important

It is vital to understand that psi will increase in hotter weather and drop, sometimes drastically, in colder weather. If you start a race with tires set at 15 psi, the pressure can increase to 18 psi, and possibly even higher, in exceptionally hot weather. In colder conditions the amount of pressure will decline. To be successful and increase your enjoyment in the sport you must be aware of the track conditions so that you will be able to use and maintain optimum tire pressure in your go kart tires. As a general rule, when the temperature has dropped, it is best to fill your go kart tires with 1 psi to 5 psi more than when temperatures are unusually high.

It’s also important to watch your tires very closely before, during, and after each race. Once go kart tires get too worn they should be replaced immediately. It is normally a simple task to recognize when tires need to be replaced since your ride will be rougher, the traction will worsen (especially around the turns), and you will usually begin to drift through corners. If you are still in doubt as to when to change them look at the small tire holes. All go kart tires have tiny holes that become shallower as the tire rubber wears out. Whenever these tiny holes grow to be too shallow it is time for a new set. Knowing which go kart tires to use and how to maintain them properly can increase their lifespan and effectiveness.
