Shoud Parrom Redshirt?

Stress fractures can be a problem and reinjury is very common, he may not be back until mid January.

This kid is going to be a big part of the program and we really need him this year but I think he may be better off redshirting now and let that SF heal properly. I dont see the point wasting an entire season if he cant come back till late Jan. I suppose if he heals quickly it would be ok but SF dont heal fast and you almost always reinjure them if you try and come back too soon.

Tough break I really like his game!

I think the coaches overlooked Cal

Where were the plays that got us to a tie for first in the conference to begin with?

Fly sweep? Bubble screen? A run somewhere other than between the tackles?

Where they saving these plays for some other, more important game?

Did we just not believe that it could be possible for Cal to continue to stuff our o-line in the running game? Why did we keep pounding up the middle long after it was clear they were shutting it down?

Isn't the very basic fundamental idea in the spread offense is to take what the defense gives you? If the defense is shutting down the inside run, isn't that when you start putting pressure on the edges with the very plays we have been so successful at all year - but were apparently misplaced, maybe left behind in Tucson?

I am no coach, so someone tell me if I am crazy - what the ***k happened to our playbook???

Anybody have any good ones. Ideally I would like something like a team picture with a schedule, like the team posters. Arizonaathletics.com still has football wallpapers from last season as the only thing I could find, not even a current year football version. Is our sports marketing department really so bad that they can't put out a digital version of the team posters? Pathetic really, I can't even find a past version.

I've said it many times before - I hate Strawberry Canyon. Last night I was hoping to be wrong, and I wish I was. Let's get to it:

Arizona did not play their game last night. I'd like to say that Cal took them out of it, but with the playcalling I really can't. The defense is taking some heat, but they only let Cal score one TD until after the bizzaro Foles penalty finished the Cats off. And that TD was on a short field after the botched punt. They held in the red zone and the Cats won the turnover battle. The one thing I will say is that tackling has got to improve. The offense, however, needs to look at this game film and then game film from Stanford, Washington, and ntOSU. Foles did not play the way he has been, and I'm sure he knows that better than anyone. This week will be a week for the team to get themselves back in gear.

- Run with what has worked. Last night Sonny Dykes got cute with the playcalling, and that never goes well. Arizona has run the ball a fair bit this year, but they've also been able to use their passing game extensively without having to run too much. During the Stanford game the Cats basically abandoned the run for the second and third quarter, and still marched upfield at will. Last night they kept pounding Antolin into the line repeatedly, even when it was clear that was not going to work. Part of the reason the Cats have been so successful on third down this year is because they've been able to stay out of third-and-long situations. Last night they couldn't get the yards on the ground to do that, and yet they still kept running.If you let Oregon's D pin back their ears and come after you frequently on third down, you're not going to have a fun night. They have to revisit what they've been doing with the short game this year, because they're going to have to hang at least 40 on the board against Oregon.

- Last week I remarked that Foles seemed to be getting greedy against WSU. He passed up high percentage passes to try to get big plays downfield; I didn't understand really why he was doing that. He passed up receivers that were wide open with first down yardage, instead looking to throw for six points. Last night it continued. In many cases a receiver would come out of the backfield and be an open safety valve, and Foles didn't even look that way. While long gains are great, the Cats have made their living on getting 5-6 yards at a time and just eating up opposing defenses little by little.

- A lot of people were exasperated when Scott came out on the field. I liked the move. Arizona had not been moving the ball and the Cal D was getting into a groove. Scott made them reset and put them back on their heels a bit, since the Cats run a completely different offense when he's in. That was the drive where Arizona scored their second touchdown after 4 straight 3-and-outs. Scott did was he was supposed to do and as a result Arizona was in a position to win.

- The defense did make some improvements. They did not let Cal's receivers get numerical advantages on the zone like Stanford was able to. The one passing TD was on a one-on-one situation, which is something you can forgive if it's not happening all game. If you take away that last white-flag TD, Cal only runs for 115 yards. As for that last TD... these guys better have a few wind sprints to pay for that.

- Cal's last touchdown was reminiscent of Oregon's last year. The defense had to go out and make one last stop and just collapsed right away. That was a nice little kick in the gut after watching the El Doble Paso (I forget which poster coined that phrase.)

- Speaking of El Doble Paso, while Foles should have known better than to throw that ball, that isn't why the Cats lost. They lost because they were unable to do anything on offense for most of the game. A team that averages over 30 points a game should not be stymied by a defense like Cal's. Cal stayed with the 5-2 defensive front for much of the game and stopped the run, and it was the Cats inability to adjust that cost them the game.

- This is a game where you wonder how much of a difference Rob Gronkowski would have made.

- Cal's FG kicking came into this game with bad numbers, but you have to give Tavecchio credit. He hit the kicks he needed to.

- Cal also deserves credit for planning well and making plays. Riley is not the best QB in this league, but he made some big throws last night. Vereen punished Arizona and racked up a ton of yards.

- Nice to see Cam Nelson get his first career pick. The photo in the Star showed just how much air he got when he went up for that ball.

- I can't fault Antolin for the lack of rushing yards. He ran hard, but the holes he needed just weren't there.

All in all, this game can still be good for Arizona if they learn from their mistakes. They had been able to get away with some things against UCLA and WSU that Cal made them pay for. I'd rather they get hit now on their mistakes than against Oregon. This was Arizona's free loss, since they can still go to the Rose Bowl if they win the next three. The nice thing is that there's no looking past anyone from here on out. Oregon is Oregon, and they will get Arizona's full attention and then some. After that is ASU, which is not just someone you want to beat, but someone who deserves it. Then there's USC's most human team in 8 years. To use a cliche, it's gut check time. Here's hoping the Cats answer the bell.

I know Ben Braun is their coach and they return three starters from last year, but I don't know where they are expected to finish in their conference.

I didn't get to watch the game, but I followed Yahoo Sports game tracker. I just wanted to say how awesome it is that we are balanced. No more, if the big three can't score then we're not gonna win. Having 8 players score 7 or more points each is awesome, and I'm so excited for this year and the years to come under Coach Miller.

Has NBA written all over him. He still needs to develop his shot and keep up the strong defense, but his ball handling and and passing are far more advanced than most freshman I have seen.

He is going to be key if teams play zone on us and to run the offense through for the second unit.

Momo will be huge for us, once he learns the college game.

And wow, Jamelle is on a completely different level than his first 2 years here. Easily the most-improved player in the PAC-10 (and no, I haven't seen any other PAC-10 games).

And some intangibles:

I love the new court. (always hated the cactus, can't say why).
Our cheerleaders are still the worst-looking in all of college sports.
