THE BIG PICTURE

What exactly are “demons”?

In this essay I will argue that reality is fundamentally spiritual—not materialistic as science would have us believe. I will reason that only a biblical perspective explains the “hard question” of science—how consciousness emerges in a universe of matter. The truth is it doesn’t emerge. Mind, not matter, is fundamental—and, in ways not fully understood, is the very presence of God—in whom, according to the Bible, “We live and move and have our being.” And this is where the evidence, neurological and otherwise, strongly points.

I will claim that “emotion” is a spiritual event that doesn’t arise from the brain but is a term historically referred to as “spirits”; for example, one of the many spirits of the Bible: fear, lust, anger, etc., but which are now believed to be “emotions.” And we can conclude that the more destructive emotions are the spirits which the Bible calls “demons.” Biblically, there is no distinction between evil or unclean spirits and demons, the proof in Scripture being Luke 4:33. Demons cannot be fallen angels as commonly believed because these fallen angels are bound in chains of darkness until the day of judgment according to 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6. I will also explain why science is wrong when it claims that consciousness is emergent from the complexity of matter. For, then, it would be hard to explain where they come from or how they interact with our physical brains–as contrasted with a world where God, not matter, defines fundamental reality. Readers will understand that the ultimate purpose of demons working through our “emotions” in a world where God—not matter—is fundamental, is to prevent people from trusting in the inerrancy of the Bible and from believing that Jesus is the only way to heaven and God—just as the door of Noah’s Ark was the only way to be saved from a sinful, flood-ravaged world. Moreover, you are about to understand why being “born again” is a necessary condition for entrance into the Kingdom of God—despite the rants of angry liberals who, you will see, are heavily demonized and accordingly reject the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. Indeed, you will see that the political left is intent on destroying America–a delusional system given those on the political left believe they are on the side of truth. Read this post carefully since a lot of ideas must come together with perfection before the “big picture” can be persuasively envisioned.

The Bible, as noted above, says that we “live and move in God.” That, you will see, is the only way to explain the light by which we see ourselves and the world around us—consciousness itself. You will understand why it is impossible—logically, scientifically, and theologically—for either consciousness or emotion to have evolved into being and why, therefore, reality is fundamentally spiritual, putting a very different slant on our understanding of “demons”—and many other biblical claims currently being mocked by liberals and the world at large. To sum up, if you read this essay to its conclusion and agree with the evidence, you will be changed in a good way, forever. And should you currently feel that God is far away, you will realize how close He really is to you.

Healing is biblical and logical

Acknowledging the identity between “spirits,” “demons” and “emotions,” we can conclude something mind-boggling. When Jesus gave His disciples the authority to cast out demons, he was giving them the authority to remove negative emotions, including those known to cause physical disease, by removing their effects on the brain’s limbic system—that part of the brain widely acknowledged as the “emotional brain” and which, via the vagus and other nerves modulates the metabolism of every cell in the body either toward or away from wholeness and health.

The New Testament gives a very misleading account of demons via translations that have been influenced by a culture steeped in materialistic thinking. For example, the Greek word for “demon-possession,” demonizomai, actually means to have or be oppressed by a demon—a far cry from the ghastly images we typically associate with “demons.” Note, also, the high frequency with which demons were cast out of people–for example, “at sunset”—making it very unlikely that demons are found only in weird, crazy, or violent people.

It helps to see the big picture as fundamentally spiritual and God-centered. Only then can we understand how consciousness is not emergent but the very presence of God–and why the negative emotions are the “demons” of the Bible, sometimes referred to as evil or “unclean” spirits. Anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and so on, have precise physiological parallels in the brain and body—most notably inflammation, a known factor in many diseases, including arthritis. These negative emotions if chronic and coupled with despair in the wake of the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, etc. ) shut down the immune system, giving rise to countless autoimmune diseases. When one loses the will to fight or defend oneself there is a precisely equivalent damping down of one’s biological defense mechanisms. Cancer, known statistically to occur following a personal loss, is just one of these many immune diseases. Emotion and physiology are different perspectives of the same reality. That is why disease can be cured by casting out “spirits.” Their departure restores the physiology of the limbic system toward health.

It doesn’t help that some churches have a ritual of “exorcism,” a grisly and frightening counterfeit to the ministry of deliverance–one-fourth of the ministries of Jesus (salvation, baptism with the Holy Spirit, healing, and deliverance). as recorded in the Bible. In my opinion, this counterfeit “rite” was created by the devil himself to frighten people away from receiving its healing benefits. It’s a matter of knowledge. Believers who know their true worth in Christ won’t need a lot of prodding before mustering up the indignation to cast out the enemy. They won’t need a formal ritual. They need knowledge of the big picture, including the understanding that reality is fundamentally spiritual and God-centered as contrasted with an evolutionary, materialistic worldview in which demons make little sense, not to mention the impossibility of explaining consciousness as the very presence of an infinite, omnipresent God.

We will see that this battle is not at all random with the devil getting lucky from time to time, but that he does his dirty work on a legalistic basis. His right to oppress or destroy is only allowed through the doorway of sin. This means that he can intrude only when some commandment of God is broken or ignored.

How demons enter homes

Demonic intrusion has a precision equal to the laws of physics. Not such a crazy idea when you consider that the God in whom we live and move is righteous and lawful. If there is a crack in our spiritual armor (the breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, sword of the Spirit (the Word of God), and so on, evil will enter. The two realms are in constant competition with Christianity being the only world religion that assures victory by the forgiveness of sin. Nevertheless, sin (defined as anything that is not of faith) is an open door for the enemy if we lack faith and allow him in.

Prepare to have a few sacred cows shattered. Victory over the devil is tied to the family structure and the avoidance of the worldly beliefs that the patriarchal model for the home is a relic of the misogynistic past. The bottom line is this. When a family deviates from the now despised patriarchal model (despised only because its importance is poorly understood), the door is opened wide to the devil—rather obvious when the big picture is acknowledged.

You may also be shocked to discover that the mantra of “equality” between men and women, husbands and wives, is in a related manner also a major point of entry for the devil and his demons—to the measure that the devil has succeeded (through the liberal mindset) in distorting the true meaning of “equality.” This means that problems arise when gender differences are misconstrued as signifying inequality. In truth, it is only when the differences between men and women are applauded, that true equality and the unconditional love of God can be fully experienced—once again underscoring the battle raging behind the scenes between God and the devil for our minds and hearts!

The reasoning is as follows. When the father’s spiritual headship is usurped, he loses his God-given self-esteem as a man and can no longer be an adequate vessel for the unconditional love of God—while in turn his wife and children lose their source of self-esteem, similarly rooted in the unconditional love of God. This kind of love, agape love, must start with the father and flow to the other members of a family. Demons, this means, camouflaged by the modern psychological skewing of “emotion” and “equality” have already entered the home—not if one is a bit unlucky, but with a legalistic precision. As water flows downward, there is a cascading of negative thoughts and emotions throughout the family. The husband will find it all but impossible to love his wife as the Bible instructs—“as Christ loves the Church.” He will resent her and she will resent him for every little misunderstanding that crops up during the day. The tone with which they speak will change—which in itself means that unclean or evil spirits have modified the limbic systems of their brains—that part of the brain which mediates “emotion” and to which there is a direct connection with the brain’s speech center! Not coincidentally, the speech center and the limbic system are directly connected with neurons mediating orgasmic pleasure! It can be reasonably argued that orgasm and an unconditionally loving partner are essential to a truly happy home.

There is more to this reasoning. Brain anatomy takes on special meaning in light of the biblical claim that we are created “in the image of God…male and female.” Why exactly? Because it is the quality of the interaction between husband and wife that is equal to the very presence of God—love itself, diminished only by an intrusion of demons which we experience as destructive “emotions.” Despite the liberal flaunting of equality, this means that in unbiblical (demonized) homes, love ( the very presence of God) is demonically compromised. Wives are not receiving the love they need, as intended by God. And, since everything comes around that goes around, husbands likewise are not receiving the love they need from their wives—as intended by God.

The effect on children is the logical extension of what is happening at the parental level. The result? Demons of low self-esteem, rejection, resentment, and anger reverberate around the home like a ping-pong ball. Woe to the society that blurs the distinction between men and women. This blurring compromises the very presence of God—in whose image we have been created, male and female.

The Trinity and the presence of God

We must think beyond the mere distinction between male and female insofar as God can only be present in a home to the measure that His triune nature parallels the triune structure of the family. That, you are about to see, is the perspective that fits best with the big picture. For, short of adhering to the biblical model of the home, a family can’t experience the love of God. Ungodly emotions (demons) will have intruded—creating a situation where parents demand obedience as an affirmation of their worth. In turn, the child will experience a skewed version of love, something other than unconditional love—will in effect learn that his or her worth is based on performance—the exact opposite of biblical, agape love. In other words, conditional love creates in children the conviction that their worth depends upon meeting parental expectations—as contrasted with parents who (being filled with the agape love of God) delight in their children for who they are and not for their acceptable behavior. This means that the devil already has a hold on the family as the stage is set for rebellion in one or more of the children—one of the many consequences of the absence of God in the home.

Let’s look more closely. The father, the head of the household, represents God the Father. The mother represents the more submissive Jesus who was “in all ways submitted to the Father.” I propose that the children represent the third member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, through whom the love of God is transmitted from one generation to another. But, now, before my liberal readers go bonkers at the thought of a wife being submissive to her husband, consider the deeper biblical rationale. The biblical Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit defines the threefold nature of the one and only God—much as mind, body, and spirit are the three aspects of one person. As with the triunity of God, there is absolute equality of worth between husband, wife, and children—despite their roles being very different. Let’s look further at what the Bible has to say about this equality.

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Jesus, according to the Bible, is that word. “Everything that exists was created by and through Jesus.” Complete equality, just different roles. Similarly, the wife is equal to but “in all ways submitted to her husband”—not at all in a demeaning way but, paralleling the relationship between Jesus and God the Father, assuring the full presence of God. And is it a mere coincidence that just as everything “was made by and through Jesus” new life comes through the womb of the mother? Or that the mother is the nurturing center of the home, the glue that holds the family together—similar to the way Jesus “holds everything together by the power of His Word? The Bible further proclaims that “the fullness of the Deity dwells within Jesus.” Likewise, the fullness of the father’s power and authority is transformed in the wife as a more tangible and nurturing expression of the Father’s love—an equality that is compromised if and when she usurps her husband’s God-ordained executive function.

It goes deeper. When asked by His disciples to “show us the Father,” Jesus said, “Do you not understand? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father; you know me, henceforth you have seen Him and know Him.” How’s that for equality? Let’s get it straight, Jesus—despite how religious cults distort the Trinity to the devil’s delight—is the physical manifestation of the invisible Father, “His exact image.” The same God in whose image we too have been made—man and woman.

Inevitably, when the equality of father, mother, and child—paralleling the equality that exists between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit—is not understood or put into practice, a power struggle will arise between the husband, wife, and children—making the home more of a boxing match than a residence for a triune God. There may still be love, and where pride is strong, the home may have the appearance of a godly home; but without exception, when the biblical meaning of equality is distorted, the unconditional love of God will be compromised—however tidily covered up.

It is no coincidence that liberals, raised in unbiblical homes, speak of misogyny and hate anything that smacks of patriarchy—while conveniently scapegoating their demons of guilt, hatred, unworth, and self-rejection onto Bible believers as the purveyors of evil. The devil has a way of tricking liberals into believing they have the higher ground—a deception evident by their intolerance of traditional Christianity and the Bible as written. It’s easy to discern the “spiritual powers” behind this deception. But apart from a trustworthy standard (the Bible) they will, as Isaiah prophesied, “call evil good and good evil” and “put darkness for light and light for darkness”—nicely explaining the intensifying political divide in this country and around the world.

It’s a bit strange that submission and service are universally recognized as virtues that define the very nature of Jesus, yet liberals hate the thought of a woman submitting to her husband. Here might be the reason why. Where love (the presence of God) is absent, hate has already moved in to fill the vacuum. There is no gray zone. While claiming the high ground, it is impossible for liberals, despite their passion for helping the needy, to think of submitting to or serving someone they hate (which is the authority of God), so they devise their own very unbiblical theology to cover their deception. In a nutshell, when the biblical model is rejected, the presence of God is likewise compromised. Demons have succeeded in perverting the foundational virtues of a strong and stable society by turning submission and service into something evil—cleverly under the guise of “women’s rights,” “equality” or other socially accepted mantras. Since their passions go contrary to the knowledge of God, we can be confident they are driven by demons–or, if you prefer, ungodly “emotions” or “spirits.” A rose is a rose and by any other name remains a rose.

Here’s a further angle. When a husband fails to accept his God-given role or for whatever reason a woman usurps this role, the husband, spiritually speaking, becomes the woman and the woman becomes the man, reversals that with uncanny precision lead to perversions—proportional to the husband losing self-respect and, ironically, the woman losing her true source of power—her feminine allure. We’ll examine some of these perversions in the following section, perversions which are being increasingly considered normal. The big picture exposes these reversals as abominations in the eyes of God. Which, for the record, doesn’t mean that Christians or God hate these individuals. It is just the opposite, we love them enough to tell them the truth, that their deceptions come from the ruler of this world, the “father of lies,” however deeply embedded their ungodly spirits may be in their subconscious minds—the kind Jesus said “come out only with prayer and fasting.” In a world where evil is waiting at the gates to foil the intents and purposes of a triune God who is defined as love itself.

The demonic origin of the LGBT movement

Let’s look at why gender confusion is a predictable consequence of a “reversed” home—not just because the Bible has a lot to say on the subject, but because a daughter identifies primarily with her mother who, spiritually speaking, has become the father. Likewise, a son identifies with a father who, spiritually speaking, has become the mother. These changes result in children who are biologically one sex but spiritually another—a reversal that sooner or later affects their choice of a mate. With the passing of generations, these conflicting identifications become legitimized as “genetic” and it is not long before the family, triune in design, has become socially redefined. It is also noteworthy that with few if any exceptions, one of the partners in a same-sex relationship is dominant while the other is more submissive—ironically reestablishing the patriarchal “heterosexual” model!

What about demons? Is there any evidence that reversed individuals are demonized? Yes, if we acknowledge that emotions are the “spirits” referred to in the Bible—and recognize, as analyzed above, that it is impossible to explain the emotional realm from the current evolutionary, materialistic point of view. The evidence grows; statistically speaking, gays have more anger and depression as compared with other populations, and their suicide rate is much higher as well. It is also a fact that lesbians make up about 40% of female prison inmates. The actual evidence, then, strongly corroborates that spiritually-reversed persons are demonized. The problem becomes that of overcoming our stereotypical reaction to the word “demon”—a scary term that underscores the devil’s success in disguising his role in the ongoing battle for the souls of men and women.

There is also cultural evidence. Studies show that, as a group, liberals attend church less often than conservatives. Other studies show that while they legislate money for the needy, they donate less of their income to charity—in all likelihood the result of being raised in an atmosphere of conditional love and rejection. They assuage their guilt by their social agendas—to the point of making laws forcing the rest of the population to fall in line. In one form or another, their demons of guilt, anger, and hatred drive them to viciously attack anything that gets in their way— to the point of outlawing politically incorrect speech as if that will change the heart. In truth, such stifling of expression engenders more hatred and violence. Consider what is happening on many college campuses where violence is now justified to shut down free speech, once the hallmark of this country. These protestors, with few or no exceptions, are liberal and if you question them will dismiss the Bible as written by misogynists and hatemongers. Indeed, when all is said and done, one’s perspective on the Bible lies at the root of a widening sociopolitical divide—just as would be expected if the Bible and the big picture were true.

That said, is it possible, with or without the casting-out-of-demons, for one’s acquired biological identity to become realigned with one’s biological identity? There are innumerable examples of such reversions in the Christian literature and there would be many more if local churches and ministries would acknowledge their New Testament authority to demolish strongholds in the mind “going contrary to the knowledge of God.” We need also a better understanding of how demons get increasingly entrenched with the passing of generations, making gender identity transformations appear “natural” when in fact they are grotesque disruptions of God’s plan for the family. As the Bible says, “My people are being destroyed for lack of knowledge.” This much is certain—just as we hate cancer and not the person in its grip, Christians should (and most do) love those who are spiritually reversed and in the grip of the devil—who, hopefully, if their hearts are right toward God, has not stolen their salvation. Any way you slice it, their light has gone out and there will be hidden hatred and other demons just waiting for an opportunity to rob, kill, and destroy.

Is the ministry of deliverance relevant today?

Above and beyond the counterfeit ritual of exorcism—which in my opinion originated with the devil with the intent of frightening everyone away from the true biblical ministry of deliverance, one’s sins have been forgiven—past, present, and future—and therefore indignation and deliverance from evil remains biblical. Ever since the Temple veil was torn down the middle at the instant of Jesus’ death, believers now have direct access to God, no longer requiring an intermediary priest or saint. Jesus is our High Priest, “The only mediator between God and men.” All believers are “saints”—cleansed with the blood of Jesus.

Bottom line? The deliverance ministry is as relevant as one wants to make it depending upon one’s ability to muster up indignation against the enemy—indignation that should follow from knowing that as believers we have been “clothed with the righteousness of God.” Sadly, liberals and many others have been “blinded by the god of this world” and haven’t a clue as to the availability of such righteousness—by simply inviting Jesus into their hearts as their Redeemer. By contrast, liberals promote a counterfeit religion of political correctness where they claim righteousness by their good works—a delusion driven by pride and good intent but which the Bible calls “filthy rags.” Their unbiblical theology is the result of what I envision to be an incestuous imbalance, where parental reversal and resulting conditional love create a strong need to be loved. And since the opposite-sex parent almost always has a similar need, the stage is set for an unhealthy intimacy between parent and child. More often than not, this imbalance is disguised as uncommon closeness but in homes where egos are weak and the hunger for intimacy is great, actual incest can result—between father and daughter or between the daughter and some other non-nuclear family member. I recall one woman I was ministering to who had regular sex with her father well into her college years, thereby replacing her mother as her father’s mate. Rarely does incest between a mother and son occur; there is a powerful taboo against this in every culture.

The main point for our present purposes is that in today’s culture, most homes have some measure of incestuous imbalance. Big deal? Yes, because this blunts the capacity of that child for experiencing emotional intimacy with God the Father—Abba, “Papa” or “Daddy” in the Greek. And I believe this imbalance is one of, if not the major reason why liberals, whether or not they call themselves Christian, have contempt for the Bible and pick and choose verses supporting their viewpoint—while ridiculing demons as having little or no relevance in today’s culture. This is only logical given that, above all, the devil wants to keep them from repentance and receiving the righteousness that comes only by faith. Indeed, given the reversed, demonic makeup of their personalities, they have little choice but to push liberal doctrines—even to the point of taking legal action against those who disagree with them. They will, this means, do whatever is needed to keep their guilt and unworth repressed.

And it’s a big deal for other reasons or could be if we could just understand the further ramifications of reversal and the resulting hindrance to trusting in God and His Word. It’s hypothetical at this point but given how, at its root, reversal consists of a husband failing to accept his God-given more authoritative role and/or a wife who usurps his authority, there is a real possibility that, as a muscle atrophies for lack of use, neurons and synaptic connections designed for asserting authority may, for lack of use, atrophy— resulting eventually in the man’s inability to act and think on his own. This would in effect mean that a spirit of control in a woman—known in the deliverance ministry as a spirit of “witchcraft control”—together, with a complementary spirit of timidity and submission in the man, could be the root cause of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia (insofar as certain parts of the brain would no longer be functional and would atrophy). That’s how serious any significant deviation from the biblical model of the home could be. We can apply similar reasoning to women with dementia—who during their lives may have been the victims of angry, unfulfilled men who have been unable to love their wives as Christ loves the Church. The possibilities are endless—yet it is unlikely, in light of the big picture, that science will devote any of its wealth to researching these issues.

As for the growing division between liberals and conservatives, it is all about guilt and how it is resolved. Liberals repress and project, while conservatives are more likely to turn to God for forgiveness. It is not coincidental that the suicide rate is soaring among girls who have just experienced their first menstrual period; they instinctively know that they have reached a physiological maturity that rivals their mothers. Some at this point even develop hatred toward their fathers as a defense, not understanding that the real problem is a cluster of demons giving her the conviction that she has betrayed her mother. The deeper truth is that one of the major consequences of spiritual reversal is that its victims learn, unwittingly, to trust more in the devil and his many lies, and less in God and His Word—rigidly commensurate with the father having who lost his spiritual authority and agape love having been thwarted.

The truth about liberal agendas

A leading American liberal proclaimed on national television recently that being a Christian should disqualify someone from public office—a good example of how demons (manifesting as thoughts and emotions) have persuaded the world that tolerance for anything and everything is good and biblical Christianity is evil—thereby evading guilt, not by improving their lives but by eliminating the very concept of sin. Instead of dealing with their sinful nature or working toward the saving of souls, liberals obsess over the planet, whales, climate change or some other seemingly urgent cause—notwithstanding the biblical revelation that the oceans will turn to blood and one-third of the Earth will be burned to a crisp. In other words, their priorities revolve around saving the planet rather than souls while, to the devil’s glee, their guilt remains so deep that they are threatening legal action against anyone who rejects their ideology. Despite its surface merits, their gospel is a counterfeit of the Gospel of Jesus.

The liberal agenda comes into sharper focus in light of the battle raging between God and the devil. The big picture helps define the devil’s strategy the core of which is the disruption of the home and the consequent derailing of Jesus as the only mediator between men and God the Father—and in a parallel manner derailing a child’s intimacy with “Daddy” by way of compromising the flow of agape love through the mother. With few or no exceptions, liberals come from homes where the father was spiritually weak, alcoholic, or otherwise missing—making it very apparent that liberals, especially women, take up the gauntlet and attempt to become the father they never had. Their unresolved guilt drives them to become advocates for women’s rights, the needy, and other disadvantaged groups, seemingly valid objectives but which in balance elude the spiritual rebirth needed for “becoming the righteousness of God.” The devil is pleased as the world gradually comes to accept these “filthy rags” as noble. Only the Word of God, “sharper than any two-edged sword for discerning the intents of the heart” can distinguish between the good and evil of these social trends.

What about other religions?

It is politically incorrect to say, but all other (non-Christian) religions are counterfeits to the real McCoy: forgiveness of sin by faith in the blemish-free shed blood of Jesus. None of these counterfeits offers absolution from guilt and their followers are left with uncertainty regarding their eternal destiny, thereby inviting in demons of anger, fear, and hatred—setting the stage in some religions for horrific acts of violence “in the name of God.” The devil, a master of the martial arts, then implicates all religions as evil—creating a huge population of high-minded liberals who have disdain for the Bible while promoting a more tolerant if wishy-washy god of their own making.

It is a fact that except for Christianity all religions teach that getting right with God is based on some sanctioned behavior—the exact opposite of the biblical claim that “a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.” When Jesus was asked“What are the works one must do to be saved?” He answered: “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent” (Himself). It’s that simple—despite liberals proclaiming in their pride (and guilt) that such simplicity is far too easy. This is why other religions do exactly what liberals do, decry the Bible as flawed—emphasizing the Golden Rule while ignoring or denying the centerpiece of Christianity: the Cross. The Pharisees claimed Jesus had a demon and today’s liberals, driven by the same spirits, similarly denounce his divinity as a fraud!

What about evolution? After all, its proponents claim to have explained the origin and meaning of life—making it their religion. And doesn’t the fossil record and other discoveries offer proof for evolution? In a way, but only to the extent that their “proofs” fit with their presuppositions. In truth, the fossil record is exactly what you would expect following the rapid drainage of a worldwide, biblical flood—fossils laid down in layers, marine fossils on the tops of mountains around the world, and so on. As for the Grand Canyon, touted as evidence for millions of years of evolution, the evidence favors its creation by a lot of water over a little time—as the worldwide flood quickly drained—rather than a little water over a lot of time. If you look at their time charts, the “proofs” for evolution are but a patchy amalgam of bits and pieces of evidence giving the appearance of proof. But that is a subject for another day. Suffice it to say that the history of evolution is riddled with one hoax after another—reflecting the zeal with which its high priests are attempting to prove the irrelevance of God.

Like the angel Lucifer, scientists want to replace God—strong affirmation that the devil is behind the belief that mutation and millions of years are in effect God. In other words, if the devil can’t be worshiped directly, he will settle for second best—setting the stage for the Great Tribulation, when he will present himself to the world as God. Everything fits together perfectly but only if reality is fundamentally spiritual, and God-centered—a God who is gleaning a people for himself, people whose minds and hearts have grasped the need for redemption and who trust more in His Word than the words of men. In other words, people who have by faith and by their own free will choice become “the righteousness of God” by faith—people with whom He can fellowship forever.

Could the big picture be seriously flawed?

Okay, it’s crunch time! What would it mean, hypothetically, if we cast out what we think is a demon and it’s really not a demon? What becomes of the big picture and the claim that everything, including evil, is fundamentally spiritual? To phrase this differently, what is evil if it is not a demon? In other words, is there such a thing as evil which is not spiritual? No, because evil is defined by intent and intent has a spiritual nature. A Christian friend of mine, a psychiatrist, believes that demons in people suffering emotionally are possible but extremely rare and that most of the relief claimed by those who “cast them out” can be explained by the power of suggestion. We could attempt to tweak the difference between faith and the “power of suggestion” but for the sake of argument let’s assume that there are situations in which a presumed demon is not a demon at all. My position is that since the spiritual realm is invisible, only God can know for sure; unless we acknowledge the big picture, in which case we too can know for sure.

Look at it this way. If we take authority over something that can be defined as “going contrary to the knowledge of God,” will He not be pleased with our willingness to stand on Calvary’s victory—which is why I believe that such evil is demonic. If wrong, we have created an action-stifling gray zone of uncertainty and have inched toward the evolutionary premise that emotion is emergent from matter—the “hard question” of science. This would also mean that God has created a world in which believers are caught in endless confusion regarding the presence of demonic evil—a world where we would be paralyzed to act decisively and with authority against evil. And that, it’s not hard to see, is the state of today’s Church.

Let’s look more deeply at this quandary. Should we in a given situation be able, to our satisfaction, to overcome the hurdle of uncertainty when confronting evil? Who is to say at what level the situation is no longer borderline? There will always be that borderline zone where “only God knows,” a dilemma that doesn’t jibe well with logic, neuroscience, or the biblical account—because, then, as the world’s brightest scientists will testify, an emotion becomes a complete mystery. Moreover, if we back off from taking authority over evil at a lower level, afraid we will make a mistake, we will—with the possible exception of someone writhing like a snake or spewing hatred toward God—be hesitant to cast anything out, ever. And that is just not biblical. It is double-mindedness, a state of mind in which one is “tossed to and fro like a wave of the sea”…“unable to receive anything from God.” Furthermore, experience in the trenches of spiritual warfare makes it clear that doubt is itself a demon—a very common demon. Strategically speaking, if there ever was a demon, “doubt” would surely be found in the devil’s quiver of “fiery arrows.”

The question, for me, becomes not whether a demon is present but when to help someone in this manner. Do the victims have an adequate understanding of who they are in Christ? Do they need instruction to muster up enough indignation to assure victory? Without this indignation—despite prayer—a person might not be set free and could end up being even more discouraged. This, conceivably, could work to a person’s advantage assuming their distress continues or intensifies to the point where it becomes pretty obvious the problem is intruding evil. But why wait and go through so much unnecessary turmoil and suffering? And there are other sources of confusion. For example, what happens when someone is told their emotional distress is caused by a “biochemical imbalance.” It certainly is a biochemical imbalance, but one that, according to the big picture, is caused by a dysfunction in their limbic brain—of the kind of Jesus healed by casting out demons. Biblically—with few or no exceptions—healing was associated with demons coming out.

I have many times cast out of myself or a patient what appears to be nothing more than a little resentment or anxiety. The result is invariably the same—all the typical signs of energy being released in the limbic brain, then channeled into an upper respiratory pathway: yawning, sighing, sneezing, nasal discharge, or some other physical sign that the energy holding an evil stronghold together in the brain has found an outlet. Freed energy has to go somewhere or it will cause havoc in the brain.

That said, we don’t know exactly how or where demons impact our brains. Being spiritual—not physical—they cannot in a conventional sense be “here” or “there.” It is enough to know that they are causing a problem and that we have authority over them. We can only know for sure what the Bible says about them—for example, that, upon their departure, they return to “dry places”—likely a metaphor alluding to a demon’s whole intent being that of messing with our “wet” brains—achieving what God cannot do: mediate evil while giving us the free-will to make a choice. In the neuroscience think tank where I worked in the ’70s, scientists referred to the molecular and psychological aspects of the brain as “wet” and “dry” respectively—oblivious there might be a biblical connection.

What about psychotherapy? It can help and sometimes, if the sovereign Spirit of God is moving, quite dramatically. I have often observed (in myself and others) all the typical signs of deliverance without formally casting anything out—more often than not following some victory, however minor. The truth sets us free and Jesus—in ways yet to be more fully fathomed—is that truth! He is always the source of victory over demons, whatever the context. In any event, many therapists, including those who are Christian, have been raised in reversed, agape-compromised homes—giving rise to therapists and their clients getting mired in a game of demonic ping-pong.

Here, in passing, is a question for the ages! How is it possible that our “wet” fleshly brains or bodies can be physiologically impacted by an intangible spirit or demon? Listen carefully as I am about to propose what may be the answer to this great mystery, one that would seem to be beyond our capacity to understand were it not for the fact that “all things are possible with God.” It is an unfathomable mystery—unless the triunity of the home is so essential and intrinsic to the health and functioning of the human brain that any deviation from the biblical model instantly results in, or is equivalent to, what we call demonic intrusion. This, however, would be possible only if God, not matter, is fundamental—all in all. Here’s the logic. Just as every human being who ever existed was initially encoded in Adam’s DNA, so I propose the potential demonization of any human has been encoded in the limbic design of the human brain—if and when he or she breaks God’s law. This would mean that a demon never mysteriously invades from somewhere “out there” in a spiritual domain but, rather, its entry is built into the design of the brain—so that whenever a commandment of God is broken, an aberration of brain function occurs—appearing as demonic “intrusion.”

This assessment boils down to the claim that, unlike evolution, the chancy nature of which is opposed to the Word of God,—there is no room for chance or error when it comes to sin and demonization. When the Bible says “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour,” it doesn’t mean that on a given day he is going down Route 95 and the next day, westward on Route 66 with the hope of finding a victim. God, in my opinion, would not create such a random reality where lucky ones get spared the devil’s clutches, while unlucky others fall victim. It makes more sense, given the legalistic nature of the devil’s intrusions, to believe that we exist in a reality where spiritual events are as predictable and unchangeable as the laws of physics. If we ignore or reject God’s instruction manual, His Word, we will —not may—be impacted by evil.

Be not in any way misled, victory over evil is tied to repentance. Repentance in turn is tied to receiving the Good News—the Gospel of Jesus. Only God knows how many spirits come and go as we read, sing hymns, ponder or talk about the promises of God, and, with seeming irrelevance, yawn, cry, cough, or sneeze. Do we yawn to get more oxygen to our brains? Or is it possible that when we are exhausted at the end of the day our egos ease up to the point where evil spirits can no longer hold on and return to their “dry places”? Introspect the next time you yawn or sneeze and note that very little if any air is exchanged!

I often wonder, too, why my wife and I yawn at precisely the same moment. It’s understood that yawning appears to be contagious, but there are countless times when I have yawned only to look over and notice that my wife began her yawn at the same moment I started mine—far too often for this to be mere coincidence. We have so much to learn. In the meantime, it is apparent to me that at least for husbands and wives, demons come in couplets that depart together. It is also apparent that people get married because they have complementary evil strongholds—tantamount to an unwritten contract that each spouse will tolerate certain idiosyncrasies in the other. For example, a wife may need to “run the show” and will choose a husband who likes to be mothered. The need for premarital counseling is obvious. Marital counseling likewise has great value. I remember a situation when a married couple needed help, but only the husband agreed to the casting-out-of-spirits. After a few sessions, he was praising God for feeling so free and for how much better his business was going—not realizing that he had unintentionally broken his marriage “contract.” His newfound freedom precipitated a threat by his wife to hang herself in their barn. It all worked out but the lesson was learned.

I remember sharing the Gospel of Jesus with a nominal Christian who was a member of a very liberal church. Upon hearing for the first time the Good News, she sneezed—I counted—seven times in a row! The need is obvious. However, even when a full-gospel church is available, its leaders are likely to cast demons out only from those whom they consider to be a little crazy—in contrast to the biblical standard of “many at sunset.” Of course, the best strategy is to explain the Gospel and then, if need be, cast out spirits. That said, it is my long-considered opinion that every born-again believer, with possibly a few exceptions, can benefit from the fourth ministry of Jesus. To believe that “resisting the devil” means only to get one’s thoughts in line with the Word by spending more time in the Bible is naive and will, for the most part, result in experiencing more guilt. It is extremely freeing for those being ministered to hear the person praying for them speak directly to a demon and tell them to stop harassing them. They might do okay without any prayer but would not experience the level of victory available with deliverance prayer–and would be far more likely to end up receiving a psychotropic or some other drug. if they would utilize this ministry, they wouldn’t have to live with so many problems and work so hard at pretending they do not exist. Unfortunately, pastors often refer their more troubled parishioners to a psychiatrist or other professional who will treat them pharmacologically to mask a problem to the devil’s delight, since he now has a legal hold on them–quenching their witness and robbing them of the “the peace that passes all understanding.”

The devil is the “god of this world” and, as such, the world remains tragically duped, yet supremely confident that it has the high road as compared with those narrow-minded, child-like Bible believers who use religion as a crutch. (It’s easy to feel you are right when millions of others agree with you!) Scientists, “gods” in the hallowed halls of materialism, emotionally invested in the material realm are likely to be driven by an unresolved reverence for the mother–reverence that is culturally sanctioned as materialism. I doubt that the name of the terror group, Isis, is coincidental to the ancient Egyptian goddess of the same name, in a world that has forsaken the biblical model—resulting in the stunting of spiritual growth by an unresolved dependence on the mother (mater) as compared to the more biblically-sanctioned authoritative father (pater). In other words, they will not have grown spiritually to the point of trust and reverence for the father in the home and will be unable, to that extent, to depend on God the Father (or His Word) for needed strength or advice. Indeed, there are liberal groups now attempting to change the name of “God the Father” to “God the Mother”–or will one way or another rob Him of His authority. They will, accordingly, be filled with unresolved guilt and rage, repressed or more openly influencing their behavior.

Bible believers, are “in the world, but not of this world.” The devil can only get to them through cracks in their spiritual armor—including unconfessed sin. And since sin is defined as “anything not from faith” the door is open wide for the entry of demons. Indignation against these demons follows from an understanding of the Gospel. Indeed, is there a danger in placing too much emphasis on the enemy? Possibly, but today there is far too little respect for the wiles of the devil. It’s noteworthy that if you read books by those with many years of experience in the deliverance ministry you will see that, while urging caution against placing too much emphasis on the demonic realm, they will in the very next breath identify just about any thought or feeling going “contrary to the knowledge of God” as a demon—in line with the big picture presented here. (Books by Derek Prince, Don Basham, Win Worley, Frank and Ida Mae Hammond, come to mind.) We need to keep an open mind to the possibility that the name of a demon is whatever word or phrase best describes its attack strategy. This means that we need to be creative and appreciate that most demons (hmm…just like “emotions”) work in clusters. In any battle, we need to outflank the enemy.

More in a future post and book, but—assuming you are a born-again believer—you can say something like this directly to a demon: “You demon, causing (———) to feel afraid, depressed, hopeless (or whatever), come out in the name of Jesus. He/she has been washed in the blood of Jesus and has confessed, renounced, and repented of any sin. You are trespassing. Come out now.” Persist with this approach until the Holy Spirit tells you to stop or you have peace that the job is complete, typically requiring a minute or two of focused prayer. That peace is the very presence of the Holy Spirit. On one occasion I persisted for a full fifty minutes with dramatic upper respiratory results (to be explained in a forthcoming book). The patient was schizoid, had been hospitalized, and was reluctant to give up a very deep and troubling spirit. Don’t ever stifle yawning; it can even be helpful to encourage yawning—greasing the skids so to speak, facilitating a pathway by which the freed energy from an evil limbic stronghold can be channeled out of the brain. With faith, patience, and persistence, anyone praying for their own or someone’s deliverance will be thrilled and edified with the results—if they don’t get double-minded and are willing to give God all the glory. Again, one must be a true, born-again believer—for, otherwise, as the Bible so clearly warns, there could be some serious repercussions. Deliverance from demons is the “children’s bread”—for believers only. Despite the many who believe that everyone is a child of God, there is according to the Word only one way to become a “child of God.”

So, in the final analysis, is there any wiggle room for a “big picture” vastly different from the one presented here? I don’t think so, not if we can rise above our knee-jerk reactions to terms such as “evil spirits” or “demons”—as learned in a culture where the devil is the god of this world—and allow the Word of God to be our guide. Jesus came to Earth “to destroy the works of the devil.” This He accomplished when, with his dying breath, He proclaimed “It is finished.” Now, we “have been seated in the heavenly realms” (past tense) and “have been healed by His stripes” (past tense!). We can therefore proceed to take authority over demons—whatever their exact nature—with the utmost confidence that God will work His power through our faith. Just believe and drive ‘em out!

Need a little more encouragement? We have the following New Testament advice:

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.”

Sounds a lot like the big picture!

Recommended reading

Readers interested in the spiritual origin of gender identity changes will find the Epilogue of my book, Mind, Matter and God: Exploding the Myth of Evolution, to be of interest—titled “Gender Confusion and the Collapse of America.” The rest of the book is highly philosophical and will appeal mainly to those interested in understanding why consciousness and the light of God are one and the same—ruling out evolution as an atheistic theory.

Biblical inerrancy is the key to accepting the big picture. Anyone wanting proof that the Bible is in fact the true, inerrant Word of God can request my essay on Bible mathematics, titled “Theomatics.” The devil will try to persuade some that this is numerology, but proof is presented that it is not.

Another book is now available (as of 10-1-2020): God and the Anatomy of the Brain: Explaining Mind in a Universe of Matter. This book uses the anatomy of the brain to prove the existence of God. And soon another: “Demons and Modern Psychology.”

Lastly, anyone wanting to learn more about what it means to be “born again” and why Jesus is the only way to God and everlasting life, I recommend you call the John Hagee Ministry (210) 491-5100 and order the DVD entitled “That Rips It.” Or, if you want a quick, sure way to get right with God, say the following prayer from your heart:

Hello God,

I know that I have sinned and fallen short of your glory. Yes, I believe Christ died for me personally and that by acknowledging my wretchedness apart from Jesus and accepting what He accomplished at Calvary He is now my God, Lord and Savior. I am from this moment on cleansed by faith from all sin and, thanks to Jesus, now have a personal relationship with God. I am born-again. Should I falter and sin, as I’m sure I will, I will remind myself that I have, in the only eyes that really count, been cleansed of all sin by the precious blood of Jesus. And when the devil tries to convince me that I am unworthy and still a sinner, I will realize that I cannot be both a sinner and cleansed by blood at the same time. As St. Paul said, “When I sin, it is no longer I who sins but sin that dwells within me.” I have been redeemed by the blemish free blood of the Lamb, God in the flesh—who being without sin makes this the only way to be “clothed with the righteousness of God.”

Going forward I will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, rest in you always, knowing that by my decision to trust in Jesus my sin has been removed from me “as far as the East is from the West.” If I ever have doubts about my worthiness, I will remember that such fear is a deception from the enemy of God, that in looking down upon me God sees only the blood of Jesus which covers and atones for my sin. I will praise God daily and give him all the glory for my success.

And one last thought, God—I pray that when I get lax and fear the outcome of my own continuing flaws, that you will remind me to keep “looking to Jesus as if in a mirror” so that, as promised in your Word, you will “change me step by step, from glory to glory, into the image of your beloved Son.” I pray that, toward that end, you will move me to study and hide your Word in my heart as a shield against the fiery arrows of the devil. I pray that I will repent as often as needed of any failure to keep looking to you rather than myself for victory, that I will know with a growing conviction that salvation and life itself are gifts from God.

May God bless all who can say the above prayer from their heart. Just keep in mind that it’s not exactly what you say or how you say it, but what’s in your heart. Try not to be obsessed with proving, especially as a new Christian, that you are worthy of God’s love. If such worth could be achieved by your own effort, a sacrificial life or any other way, Jesus would not have had to die on the Cross. Rest instead in His love and forgiveness for your sin—past, present and future. Jesus told the thief on the Cross that He would see him in paradise that very day. There was no time for this man to prove his worth; he somehow just knew that his worth was in Jesus and Jesus alone.

A clarifying post—before delving more deeply into how and why demons play key roles in emotional and physical disease and why, particularly, transgender issues are with few or no exceptions “demonic”—Satan’s intent being that of separating a person from God and their family and ultimately preventing that person from entering the Kingdom of God. Don’t believe in Satan? Not a problem, you will aftler reading this and especially the next post which I will call “The Big Picture”—the gist of which is that without the presence of evil and the need to make choices we would all be zombies and God would take no pleasure in our choosing to trust Him and His Word. Free will demands choice. Don’t believe the Bible is His infallible Word? Again, not a problem, you will understand why it must be by appreciating the need for clear communication between us and God—not to mention the mathematical and other proofs that the Bible is in fact His true Word. Anyone interested in these proofs is invited to read my latest book: Mind, Matter and God: Exploding the Myth of Evolution (available through Amazon). I’ll probably write a future post explaining these proofs, cuz I know how easy it is to assume an author is biased or deceived. That said, if you accept the biblical promise that by faith alone you are a new person in Christ—“having the righteousness of God” (2 Cor. 5:21), you are with this and follow-up posts likely to experience a personal miracle, an epiphany of life-changing proportions because that is what is available in the biblical promises of God. Short of this, you will be incapable of grasping how negative emotions, some deeply repressed, are actually “demons.” Indeed, one of Satan’s greatest victories is twofold—(1) the lie that his meddling does not apply to Christians who have been “purchased by the blood of Jesus,” and (2) that the term “demon” applies only to a previous culture; that we now have a more accurate, more up-to-date, psychological understanding of “evil. ”Hogwash, as you will see.

As noted in the first posting of this series, it is important to appreciate that any attempt at defining the line that separates the demonic from the emotional is doomed to failure. I have reached the conclusion that it is unproductive to even attempt to understand such a separation. Emotions were referred to in the Bible as “spirits” and Jesus gave his disciples authority over any and all of them, period. They spent their days healing and casting out demons—with healing almost never, if ever, occurring in the absence of demons coming out. Were they in some instances casting out “biochemical imbalances,” “emotional complexes” or some other contemporary version of evil? Not likely, and it is a meaningless differentiation since those of us with actual experience in this ministry are well aware that successful deliverance has common physiological manifestations: crying, sneezing, sighing, yawning, etc., and, yes occasionally, but rarely screaming or some other more violent reaction—all the logical, physiological result of the breakdown of intellectual or emotional strongholds in the cortical and limbic centers of the brain and the need for the energy thereby released to go somewhere–logically through anatomical pathways where it won’t do further damage. You would be shocked at the sighs, coughing, screams, groans and moans that follow upon a minister casting demons out of his flock! Power of suggestion? Perhaps, but then suggestion, belief and faith are inseparably entwined. And according to the Bible, “we can only pease God with faith.”

Look at it this way, if you should attempt to cast something out that you think might be a demon but it turns out NOT to be a demon—big deal! On the other hand, if you believe something is not a demon that is a demon, you have lost the battle. I believe that whatever its spiritual nature, God is pleased when we come against and take authority over something, anything, that can be described as evil—which is why I think any thought or emotional stronghold which can be discerned and identified as evil is in truth a demon! We have according to St. Paul “the power to demolish every stronghold in our mind that goes contrary to the knowledge of God” (2 Cor. 10:4). And this promise fits best with the frequency with which the disciples of Jesus cast out demons, e.g., “many at sunset.” (Not to mention the otherwise difficult-to-explain connection between thoughts and emotions as an “emergent” function of a physical brain.) Furthermore, if you read my latest book, you will discover why, given a more complete and deeper understanding of an image, mind unequivocally precedes the creation of matter. It is surely not coincidental that the one great remaining mystery, referred to as the “hard question” of science, is how consciousness itself arises from a physical brain. It doesn’t “arise from.” That is a presumption deriving from a belief in evolution. To the contrary, insofar as the momentary absence through time of an anticipated state (an image) regressively releases and channels energy into creating or sustaining that state, mind necessarily precedes and transcends matter; and must then be the very presence of God, in whom “we live and move and have our being.” This God must be a Person, exactly as biblically defined, given that every image requires an observer.

Of all world religions, Christianity is the most despised and most persecuted. That should tell you something about where the truth lies—including the belief that “Satan is the god of this age.” How better to explain the worldwide persecution of Christians? (Luke 21:17) If Satan truly does exist would he not make every effort to nullify the one religion that exposes and opposes him? Could Christians, I mean the true, Bible-believing kind, be the only group of people to have to have come up short with what appears to the world to be bigotry and hatred–just coincidentally? Unlikely, given the big picture and a Savior who died for our sins and warns us that we will be similarly persecuted if we preach the same message that He did.

You are about to be exposed to a new way of looking at what is referred to as “emotion,” in a way that will expand your possibilities and choices—whatever your problem or concern. Yes, you are about to discover that a “demon” is anything you can verbally give a name to and identify as being hostile to your well-being and personal sense of worth, with one huge caveat—you must acknowledge that in Christ you are the “righteousness of God.” It won’t work otherwise. And, wow, does this ever open the door wide to new possibilities and, most of all, to victory over evil however defined! For example, you are about to discover that gender conflict is completely and utterly demonic—with roots in parental hatred toward God, however disguised or repressed. It doesn’t matter how nice your parents are, how politically correct they are, or whether or not they are leaders in their church or community. In fact, in my experience (30+ years in this ministry), the more politically correct they are (and therefore likely to be chosen for leadership positions) the more likely they are to have hidden anger and related problems–in other words, “demons.” Political correctness is essentially a synonym for evil.

For those who might have an interest, the phrase “to have a demon” is from the Greek demonizomai (to have or be oppressed by a demon). The actual word “possession” is nowhere to be found in the original Bible manuscripts–suggesting that translators were heavily influenced by cultural considerations. Consider the words of Jesus when his disciples were frustrated that they couldn’t get some demons to come out: “This kind [deeply embedded] will come out only by fasting and prayer” (Matt 17:21). Indignation is the key—the direct result of knowing who you are in Christ by faith in the finished work of Calvary.

In the next post, we will chat about why evil exists at all and why, given that God, not matter, is fundamental, evil is necessarily “demonic.” And we will eventually get to what must be done to get rid of them! Hint: they must be identified and victims must be repentant and willing to forgive those who have hurt them (Matt 6:14-15). In other words, a biblical perspective is required. We must be indignant even though our enemy is spiritual and therefore unseen. Passivity is indeed an open door to the devil’s meddling. We must be warriors (Ephesians 6)–indignant by virtue of knowing who we are in Jesus. We must be convinced that we are a King’s kid.

You won’t need an exorcist! Exorcism—a formal rite found in churches drowning in pagan mythology (consider those pointy fish hats its leaders proudly wear!)—is what I call “display deliverance” the intent of which is to frighten as many people away from this ministry as possible. We are, on the other hand, talking about incisive “spiritual surgery” using the Word of God as our scalpel—“sharper than any two-edged sword for discerning the intents and purposes of one’s heart” (Heb 4:12).

After a victory, the enemy will invariably counterattack. Be ready. As with any battle, You will need to outflank your opponent. If you are not willing to be a steady warrior and persist in the fight, read no further. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard someone say, “I have tried casting something out but this just doesn’t work for me.” Before getting discouraged, keep in mind that success is determined by one’s intimacy with God, learned in the setting of one’s home in relationship to one’s earthly father. When all is said and done, the deliverance ministry is all about furthering one’s intimacy with God, the Father. God is love and the only way to experience this love (agape unconditional) love) is through Jesus, our Creator and Redeemer. Without this intimacy with Jesus and God, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. We are speaking of eternity—which is a very long time!!!! “No one comes to the Father except through Jesus” (John 14:6)—for which claim there is good reason: without having to make a choice, we would be mindless zombies–not at all “in the image of God.” By contrast, God desires that we love Him with all of our heart and with all of our mind

Stay tuned! In the meantime, you might want to wait before casting anything out until you have finished this series of blog postings and have a better understanding for how to persist in battle and outflank the enemy. That said, hang in there. Among other things, you will understand, contrary to the direction the world is going in, exactly how and why thought, emotion and behavior “going contrary to the knowledge of God” is generated by unseen demonic intrusion. Prepare, upon seeing the “The Big Picture” to forego justifying what is perverse or evil (as defined by the Word of God) or to stray under the delusion that you have to give up any lifestyle, or anything of value, in order to be a good Christian. It may seem that way, but in fact God “withholds no good thing.” Also, keep in mind that healing and deliverance from evil is for the purpose of achieving a happier, more peaceful and productive life here on Earth, not to mention becoming a better witness to those many troubled souls who need healing but persist in believing that “emotion” is an emergent property of the brain.

What is a Demon?

A demon may not be what you think. Consider that the Bible makes many references to demons and none at all to “emotions.” It refers instead to spirits—a spirit of fear, a spirit of jealousy, spirit of anger, etc.. This replacement of “spirits” with the modern term “emotions” opens up the possibility that all negative, destructive or tormenting emotions are actually “demons.” (And who knows how many other states of consciousness may then also be demonic.) Jesus’ first instructions to his disciples was that of giving them power to cast out demons and heal disease. Carefully note something that is typically ignored by writers and church leaders: whenever someone was healed in the Bible, demons came out–“many at sunset.” Obviously then demons are something much more than that which causes an occasional crazy person to jump into the fire.

The disciples of Jesus spent their days, going out in pairs, healing and casting out demons–the significance of which the church seems (obviously with Satan’s help) to have missed when it prays for healings. It is more likely and logical that demons are nothing more than destructive emotions; and that the world as we know it is one big ongoing battle between Satan and God—with the battle field being our minds. This means further that it is highly likely that any emotional state which can be clearly identified as destructive (or “evil”) is likely to be a demon; a perspective that fits tidily with Scripture and the belief that reality is in fact fundamentally spiritual–not material or naturalistic as modern science proclaims.

We should, this means, not be afraid to cast anything out that has the hallmarks of a demon—especially if we are unable to find relief after struggling with it in other ways. When to cast out as opposed to other forms of prayer? That cannot be easily or quickly determined, but it is in my experience far better to take authority over what we think could be a demon, sooner rather than later—as opposed to going nuts trying to figure out whether or not not something is or is not a demon. Yes, this is in sharp contrast to those who mock that if you fish often enough for a demon, you will occasionally come up with a live fish. But it is easy to see that such an attitude creates great confusion and doubt—not exactly the attitude that Jesus instilled in His disciples. I look at it this way. If something is a demon and we experience relief, God is pleased. If something is not a demon but we attempt to cast it out, then God is equally pleased that we are taking a stand against evil, and as Paul preached in II Corinthians—“demolishing strongholds which go contrary to the knowledge of God.” If we worry about whether something is actually a demon, we have lost the battle before it begins. Common sense, together with assuming evil is demonic, is in my opinion the way to go.

The bottom line, if my understanding of Scripture is correct, is that we have authority over all negative emotions. And wow! does this perspective ever open the door wide for dealing with problems in a more powerful and effective way, including mental and physical–with both known to be linked tightly with conflicting or destructive emotions. Especially if we anchor our thinking in Scripture—most notably the fact that we are by faith washed in the blood of Jesus and healed by His stripes. The Book of Mark and Ephesians 6:10-17 are good starter teachings. The bottom line is that the indignation needed for spiritual healing is the direct result of knowing who we are in Christ—a truth, quickly note, far exceeding the confusion and hate engendered by the Golden Rule.

This is the first of a series of mini-lessons to help people deal with their emotional or physical problems. The end teaching will include the understanding that transgender issues have deep destructive, typically repressed, emotions at their root—states of mind which can be healed most effectively by the fourth ministry of Jesus: the ministry of deliverance combined with words of knowledge, the discernment of spirits, and so on.

One final thought. A very obvious benefit will become evident as we more deeply understand what I like to call “spiritual surgery” by which (carefully explained in my latest book) even cancers can be excised. To sum, deliverance from evil (above and beyond salvation) is a very creative process where emotions and their many subtle interconnections need to be identified and broken down–and then, as needed, “cast out.”

It’s really that simple. But victory requires single-mindedness and persistence. If you want this victory, never say, “Oh, this doesn’t seem to work.” Scripture is true: “Those who are double-minded will receive nothing from God.” And that’s the way our brains function as well.

Mainstream science has been unable to solve the great paradox of mind and matter (consciousness and brain) because they reject the one premise on which it can be solved—that God, not matter, is fundamental. Only if we have in fact been created “in the image of God” can consciousness, mediated by the brain’s limbic energy-regulating design, be logically explained. In my most recent book, Mind, Matter and God: Exploding the Myth of Evolution (available through Amazon and other outlets), I explain how an image is the sole means by which an otherwise accelerating tendency toward increasing disorder (the Second Law) is contained—irrefutably proving the existence of God.

The gist of the argument is that, by its influence on the motor system, the limbic brain narrows an expectancy gap, a gap that is paralleled by increasing disorder and to which gap—that is, in the incipient absence of a finite image—infinity (weightless nonexistence) is implicit. Quickly note that this expectancy gap is meaningless apart from a transcendent self, the brightness of which is linked to one’s probability of weightlessness. (Indeed, the mediolaterality of a visual field can be logically explained by the way this contrast with infinity is regressively encoded within the brain and body “in the image of God.” However, the logic runs much deeper into space and time. For example, as photons are regressively released from the collision of subatomic particles, so the “light of self” (consciousness itself) can be envisioned as the carrier of the energy regressively released by the brain’s “collision” with its own potential nonexistence. The upshot is that the very nature of God must be encoded within the brain and the body—this being the only way to explain how a mere regressive tendency toward weightlessness releases the energy needed for the movement which is modulated by the seeing-of-an-image and, equivalently, the narrowing of an expectancy gap.

The convergence of sensations (qualia) from every nook and cranny of the body into the limbic brain includes electrical signals from the procreative organs—making it anything but coincidental that the brain’s orgasmic center is right next to the limbic nuclei which regulate weight and temperature. This fact has some extraordinary implications, foremost among them being that every image is a “mini-orgasm” leading to the real thing—the ultimate energy-conserving orgasmic contrast between the finite and the infinite. This means something rather mind-boggling, that an image is the means by which energy is conserved and the body mass perpetuated—in a manner strikingly similar to the way exploding stars (supernovas) release the heavy molecules needed for the creation of life, cosmic “semen” you might say. A functional analysis of the autonomic nervous system, intrinsic to the limbic brain, corroborates this similarity by the way its anatomy depicts a reciprocal tension between life and death—similar to the way a tendency toward death is responsible for the explosive brightness of supernovae. The bottom line for our purposes is that consciousness cannot exist apart from a clear distinction between the sexes—the manifestation of a God whose nature is both male and female.

The final chapter of the book offers a stunning sociological twist, explaining how any deviation from a biblical flow of authority in the home distorts the neural encoding of God, thereby compromising the efficacy by which the limbic brain converts energy into mass by the “light of self,” i.e., consciousness. This limbic compromise results in the loss of self-esteem throughout the home and the high probability that the family triangle no longer mirrors the Trinity. In other words, when the father’s self-esteem is compromised, the flow of love in the members of a family is equivalently compromised—leading (since children identify primarily with the parent of the same sex) to changes in their sexual identities. Note that this compromise creates a loss of synchrony between our biological and psychological natures—setting the stage for gender confusion. And insofar as low self-esteem is a type of a self-rejection, we have a logical explanation for the alarming increase in autoimmune disease where, given hostility toward one’s self, antibodies are formed against one’s own body—all being caused in the final analysis by a growing disdain for God who resides within us.

In a forthcoming post, the “how-to” of restoring a godly balance to the individual and to the home will be explained. The approach is very effective if one is willing to acknowledge the relevance of Calvary and how for the asking, by faith, the shed blood of Jesus creates in us the righteousness of God and a new heart, the only clear and powerful antidote to self-rejection. All other religions are contrastingly legalistic. This righteousness is, it needs to be said, difficult if not impossible to receive as a gift if one prefers to retain their “reversed” sexual identity. God is love. Therefore only His presence can set someone free from reversal and its root, self-rejection—which can sometimes be at least partially masked by the satisfaction of a gay relationship. Sadly, despite one’s best efforts, these have remaining pockets of deeply repressed destructive emotions and, equivalently, separation from God. A terrible deception that may (only God knows the heart) have implications for one’s salvation.

But here’s the good news! Nowhere in the Bible is there any reference to “emotions” as such. These negative, destructive emotions are biblically referred to as “demons” or, which is the same, “unclean” or “evil” spirits—something which can be acknowledged only in the absence of a materialistic bias. Because of Calvary—these demons (evil spirits, whatever you want to call them), have no legal hold on a believer and can be cast out. Once the demons are gone, low self-esteem and gender confusion disappear!

We’re getting there; stay tuned!

The modern world is completely naive about the real cause of sexual aberrations—which I hesitate to call perversions since people so afflicted are simply perceiving themselves and the opposite sex as they were taught to do by their early environment, possibly going back to their in utero experiences and the hormonal milieu in which they were bathed. Indeed, these individuals are perceiving their true spiritual identity and the spiritual identity of the same-sexed person to whom they may be attracted.

But to grasp the potential truth of these claims, it is essential to acknowledge that each of us, physically speaking, is either male or female and that we had parents who were of course also one or the other sex. Everyone is aware that whatever one’s biological sex, he or she will feel masculine or feminine to varying degrees. There is, in other words, a distinction to be made between the physical and the spiritual. Indeed, if our parents were confused about their own sexual identity, even if it is not all that obvious to them, their children will be affected.

The next step, whether or not you agree or disagree, is to at least consider that, as the Bible proclaims, we have been created “in the image of God.” Indeed, only if this is true can the real cause of sexual aberrations be explained. Here’s why. The Bible provides a model for the family. I realize that such a model is distasteful to the liberal mindset, but it is there nonetheless. Indeed, a liberal interpretation of the Bible and a corresponding deviation from the biblical model is the ultimate cause of most if not all sexual identity aberrations. Consider that that the suicide rate of those experiencing a conflict between their biological and spiritual identities is about 20 times higher than those in whom their biological and spiritual identities jibe. This doesn’t make one or the other right or wrong. Psychological problems also occur much more frequently in the parents of conflicted children–consistent with my experience in dealing with families in a therapeutic setting.

I refer to parents with conflicted sexual identities as “reversed.” If the mother had parents who were spiritually reversed—meaning that they were out of line with the biblical model for the flow of authority in the home, their children, now parents themselves, are much more likely to be similarly reversed. It’s pretty much a one-to-one correlation. (The details and mechanism of this reversal, for those who might want to explore this topic in greater depth, can be found in the Epilogue of my most recent book: Mind, Matter and God: Exploding the Myth of Evolution — available through Amazon.) The bottom line is that in homes where the father has lost his spiritual authority and where the mother has picked up the slack and become (spiritually speaking) the more authoritarian parent, there is a spiritual reversal that will affect the children. Keep in mind that the reversal can be very subtle and one might have to look at their parents in a new light in order recognize it.

The underlying reasoning is this. A daughter identifies with her mother and, should her mother be spiritually reversed, she (the daughter) will in effect be identifying with the spiritual attributes of a man such that, later, when seeking a mate, or just interacting with others, she will be drawn to someone who is similarly reversed. In a nutshell, the female spirit in the daughter will be attracted to the male spirit in a same-sex friend—in effect establishing a “normal” heterosexual relationship–while at the same time finding the comfort and intimacy she should have but did not experience with her mother. Indeed, with rare exceptions, the mother has subconscious hostility, jealousy and even hatred toward her daughter.

Should we then be promoting homosexual or bisexual relationships, and no longer consider them as perversions? If yes, we need to honor such individuals for having the courage to be the person they feel they really are. It’s neither right nor wrong, but this decision will unfortunately lead to much suffering and heartache, given that the spiritual roots of their relationship with their partner are out of line with the biblical ideal—with this ideal being in the image of God as biblically defined, not coincidentally, as both male and female! And note that God said He “made us, male or female, in His image.”

Before discussing the possibility of healing and how this can be achieved, including the possibility that one can remain right where they are should that be their preference, it will be helpful to reflect for a moment on a more encompassing truth—that one’s relationship to God “up there” is mirrored in one’s relationships “down here” with a chosen mate and also with one’s parents. For example, if one has been unable to communicate effectively with his or her parents, that person will to that exact measure be distanced from God. This means that he or she will inevitably experience some form of hate or rebellion toward that parent. And, in turn, the parent–already compromised with respect to the capacity to show love, will react badly and with more of the same destructive control which led to their child’s rebellion in the first place. This rebellion is a protection against parental control, perceived as rejection. These children, knowing rebellion is wrong, will suffer some measure of self-rejection and will seek ways, not always approved by God, to feel better about themselves. A strong-willed child will find submission to such a parent unbearable, as if losing his or her soul. Such children have never received true unconditional (agape) love. How could they? Such love can only be experienced by the presence of God in a home, and in reversed homes His presence and therefore love, has been compromised.

The practical solution is twofold—remain as is, or change one’s spiritual makeup to be line with the Biblical model and, as a result, draw closer to God. Sexual preference is one thing, but getting close to the God Father is the highest ideal–only possible in the absence of negative, destructive emotions of the kind that are invariably linked to reversal. Whether one chooses to change their sexual orientation or not, it is always wise to renounce and be healed of any and all destructive emotions. In another post, I will explain exactly how this can be effectively achieved. Ideally, one wants to get in synch with their biological sexuality as this is far more likely to result in a fulfilling and productive life.

So, all said, does one have a choice? is there a realistic possibility of change? Yes, but it is essential to understand that if change is to be realized, one must first of all deal with the emotions, hidden or otherwise, which are intrinsic to reversal–including rejection and rebellion, hate, etc. Is it all worth the trouble? Yes, because freedom from these destructive feelings is the only way to experience intimacy with God who, biblically defined, is love. In another post, I will explain, step by step, exactly how to proceed in achieving this change. Whatever one’s sexual preference, rebellion against God, invariably manifesting as rebellion against one or both parents, is never a good thing. One is not born gay, bisexual or transgender. This lost synchrony with one’s biological sex is the direct result of the relative absence of God in the home, the result of spiritual reversal consequent to a deviation from the biblical model beginning somewhere in one’s lineage and becoming more deeply entrenched with the passing of each generation.

Readers may be shocked to learn that there is a strong incestuous component to every reversal—for when the father has lost his authority, to whatever measure, a child will seek more love and acceptance from the opposite-sex parent. This scenario makes it especially difficult for the child, especially a daughter, to let go of her destructive emotions–believing at some level that they are protective of a much worse incestual crime. Daughters in reversed homes, with few exceptions, hate their mothers and believe that their mothers hate them–as competitors for the father’s love. It is accordingly rare that a reversed child can be healed without the parents receiving their healing. The logic is bound to the high probability that the family triangle expresses the Trinity and the very presence of God in the home. The father is the representative of God the Father, while the mother expresses the more submissive Jesus–the Son who (take note!) is EQUALLY GOD yet submitted in all ways to the Father. It is when this model is subverted that everyone’s self-esteem suffers, love is compromised and reversal occurs–resulting in many ungodly emotions (defined in the Bible as “demons” or “unclean spirits”). However defined, they are evil intruders upon God’s ideal plan for the family, which is why–given their frequency of intrusion (e.g., “many cast out at sunset”)–I believe they are in fact demons. “Emotions” are always referred to in the Bible as spirits. Modern science, with its strong bias against the very existence of God, has the world to believe that emotions have a neurological origin, thinking it knows more than God who wrote the Bible through Spirit-filled men.

Stay tuned!!

My previous book, Journey to the Center of the Brain and my recent paperback, Consciousness Finally Explained logically, for the first time, explain consciousness — a conceptual breakthrough proving irrefutably that God actively participates in brain activity, apart from whom the brain could not function. Other authors have claimed success, but this book identifies the actual brain center responsible for consciousness, and the mechanism within this center which creates and sustains an image.

The gist of the argument is that we relate to God through a tiny expectancy gap—to which, in the momentary absence of an image, we tend, probabilistically speaking, toward the weightless infinitude of our own nonexistence—with this regression releasing the energy needed for creating or sustaining an image. However, the logic is sound only if infinity and/or God has been encoded within neural design — this being the only way to explain how a regression relative to infinity can precisely channel energy into an image, the expectable and finite nature of which thwarts the Second Law of Thermodynamics. It is then but a quick skip and hop to explaining how, apart from an image, the equation E = mc2 is meaningless.

The upshot is that all of the Laws of Physics are the physical manifestation of an unchanging God. And, as readers will see, what appears to be “physical” is actually an image in the mind of God in whom, according to Scripture, “we live and move and have our being.” The proof is in the pudding: the human brain.

My new book, Consciousness Finally Explained, is truly a groundbreaker, the first logical explanation of consciousness—achieved through a perfect synthesis of science and religion. Why religion? Because a close look at the human brain proves that good science, the best science, makes room in the inn for God. The brain’s supernatural cortico-limbic design does in fact prove the existence of God—a God who transcends space and time and in whom, according to Scripture, “we live and move and have our being.”

How does a deeper understanding of this part of the brain achieve this goal? It does this by recognizing how the narrowing of an expectancy gap (achieved by the limbic brain) is exactly equal to the seeing-of-an-image. This means that an image, its very presence, directly signifies the successful restraint of the Second Law of Thermodynamics—in the absence of which restraint the brain would dissipate and eventually become nonexistent. Consciousness becomes envisioned as a vector between the finite and the infinite — explaining the edgeless graphics of one’s “bubble” of awareness. A contrast with infinity does explain how the self becomes illuminated to itself as the surround for an image as long as we understand that God, not matter, is fundamental—light itself as biblically defined.

The proof is in the pudding, the brain, and the fact that information from the entire body feeds into the brain’s limbic core just prior to this part of the brain instructing the adjacent motor system what it must do to create an image the perception of which limits an expectancy gap and, equivalently, a persistent regressive tendency—to which weightless infinity is implicit. In effect, the self and its physical equivalent, the body mass, become (in the momentary absence of an expected state) slightly too-small for their “britches”—thereby illuminating the self to itself as the surround for an image. But hold everything! The very nature of God must be very encoded within the design of the brain if a regressive contrast with infinity is to logically release and channel energy into creating an expected state, the perception of which (the image) contains further regression. Since an image, as the means by which the Second Law is contained, requires an observer—we have definitive proof for the existence of God.

To the extent the foregoing essays have adequately demonstrated that consciousness requires the existence and immanence of a biblically-defined God, it is reasonable to assume that the health of society as a whole will similarly depend upon his presence in a biblically mandated way. After all, people participate in their family structure on the basis of their images and the value these images have, moment by moment, for restraining disorder and thus, by implication, preventing violence, disease or death. It follows that the integrity of every family depends upon the presence of God – and, therefore, the measure to which God is welcome in the home. Much as the integrity of quantum events and the neurological harmony of the brain depend upon an image, so the mental stability and emotional wellbeing of every family is dependent upon the presence of God – and, while I realize it is not politically correct to say it, specifically a biblical God insofar as consciousness is only adequately explained by an invisible, transcendent yet personal God who at critical juncture in history manifested himself to the world in the person of Jesus Christ.

This final essay speculates on how the absence of God in the home affects the mental, emotional and physical health of individuals as a result of the way they interact as members of the family triangle: mother, father and child – a triunity not unlike the triune nature of God. It becomes apparent that one’s health and the health of the family as a whole depend upon the freedom God is given to manifest his nature in the home, thereby – since God is love – giving each family member the freedom and capacity to love themselves and each other to the maximum. But first, let’s refresh our sense for how the immanence of God applies to everything from subatomic activity to the forces which are at work within the Universe as a whole.

Unity amongst the various levels can be envisioned in various ways. For example, physicists are beginning to recognize that the tiniest constituents of matter are innately if strangely dependent upon an observer; yet they fall short of acknowledging the full implications of this dependence and most, since the Bible is off limits, resist any reference to “God” – despite how the Bible defines him in a way that makes perfect sense for understanding some of the deeper mysteries of quantum physics. It is not a huge leap to then realize that our brains and social institutions are, physically speaking, but a vast array of atomic activity. Thus it is, assuming that God is love, that apart from inviting him into our hearts and homes, love and its many fruits – will be compromised. This means that God – biblically a triunity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit – can manifest fully only if the Trinity is reflected, no, actually present, in the family. Stop now and prepare your mind to allow an idea that is not exactly political correct – for this in turn means that when the father as a conduit of love does not adequately represent God the Father, and the mother, also as a conduit of God’s love, does not adequately represent the submissive, nurturing love of Jesus, chaos to one measure or another will predictably reign. Liberals may not like the inference, but Jesus was in all ways submitted to the Father.[i] And the cold truth is that a failure on the part of family members to manifest the triune nature of God is evidenced by a divorce rate approaching 50%, and also by the way violence is exploding in the home and everywhere else where the God of the Bible is no longer welcome. Indeed, the family as we have known it is facing extinction, a possibility some liberal groups are now actively pushing.

Before looking more deeply into the ramifications of a unbiblical home, there is one important caveat: a father’s authority is to be grounded in, and an ongoing expression of the unconditional, agape love of God apart from which his authority as husband or parent can in fact be dangerous – a fact which liberals, having rarely or never experienced that love for themselves, and consequently failing to see the big picture, use to justify their disdain for the Bible. When an agape-type authority is lacking in the father and the mother, and where he has in effect become a spiritual wimp and the mother has assumed equal or greater authority, especially of a spiritual nature – the reversal of the biblical blueprint – there exists a perfect storm and strategy for the breakdown of the family and society. This tragic outcome, as I will be explaining further, is consequent to a quagmire of lowered self-esteem and gender confusion – all resulting from the father having lost his biblically-defined manhood and the family having thus deviated from the biblical triune model.

We can add some further depth by inserting here a few comments about the brain – the organ which is mediating both one’s images and emotions – in order to amplify how the integrity of everything from superstrings to society as a whole depends upon the immanence of God – and the way that the restraint of disorder (in the brain and therefore in the home as well) is thwarted by a failure to achieve optimal immersion by the nature of the particular images which permeate the minds and hearts within a given home. In a nutshell, immersion and harmony within our brains cannot be separated from the quality of one’s images – and this quality in turn cannot be separated from the love (i.e., God) as experienced in the home. Just as an example, note again how the reciprocal connections between the future-looking prefrontal cortex and the limbic brain play a central role in our daily behavior, which you will recall is that of delaying instinctual behavior – the very thing which, given that every sentence we utter requires some prefrontal restraint, will cause some degree of chaos if not optimally suppressed. It becomes an obvious fact that this part of our neuroanatomy is necessary for moral behavior – and here is the point with respect to this essay – the resulting self-esteem or lack thereof is critical important to one’s harmony and health.

Now, quickly note, that self-esteem cannot be separated from one’s God-given sexual identity. Everyone is more than just a person; we are either male or female persons – which means that societal morality and thus our survival as a nation depend upon a godly home and the raising of children capable of experiencing images conducive to maximal self-esteem and optimal health as a man or woman, boy or girl.

Let’s look more deeply at the interactive mechanics. It is easy to understand that, with lowered self-esteem, personal confidence breaks down and emotional needs intensify. And, whether or not yet obvious, there is no escaping that this loss of confidence is bound to one’s femininity or masculinity – a fact pointing to the importance of gender-based roles and the way happiness and harmony in a family is, when all is said and done, bound to the father’s self-esteem. Problems arise when the father feels less than a man, a state of mind sharply exacerbated when the mother, as a result of her upbringing, does not feel good about herself as a woman – and to this measure is too needy to be a supportive and nurturing partner or mother. Put it this way – her willingness to provide nurture, as only a woman can, is compromised to the exact measure she has lost self-esteem. This means, protestations by modern women notwithstanding, that her capacity to be a woman who encourages her husband’s manhood is equivalently compromised. Indeed, anything short of the biblical ideal compromises everyone’s self-esteem – with predictable results. To sum, when family dynamics deviate from a biblical model, and the wife insists upon having equal authority with her husband (the result, incidentally of her lowered self-esteem and the consequent need to feel important by assume a different role), the result is predictably a loss of peace, joy and harmony within the home.

But hold everything! Before going bonkers, hear what I have to say about biblical equality. Have I not perhaps too easily dismissed the contemporary mantra that the father and mother are to have equal authority in a home? I don’t think so, not if we understand that authority has little or nothing to do with equality or worth – at least not in the eyes of God which should be what counts. Note, also, that the meaning of equality is distorted in women with lowered self-esteem, such that they attempt to retrieve their self-esteem in an unbiblical manner – striving to be like men, thus losing their feminine advantage. So, when all is said and done, what exactly is “equality” when it comes to a husband and wife who are biologically so different? Is Jesus, because he was in all ways submitted to the Father, inferior to the Father in any way? No – according to the Bible, Jesus is coequal with God.[ii] And we learn from yet other verses that Jesus is God![iii] How’s that for equality?

The Bible also teaches that the husband is to love his wife as Christ loves his Church”[iv] – with success in this regard obviously contributing to his wife’s self-esteem. This achieved, we can easily sense, that a mother’s love and nurture is the glue that holds the family together. Is it then coincidental that the Bible proclaims Jesus to be the one through whom all things were created and in whom all things hold together?[v] And the truth, lest we forget, the entire Universe was created by Jesus.[vi] The bottom line is that the husband and wife have different, but equally godly roles. And woe to the society that blurs the distinction between them!

When this distinction is lost, a downward trend occurs as husbands blame their wives and wives blame their husbands for their problems. And the children are not unscathed as, absent self-esteem in their parents, they suffer from the lack of nurture God intended them to receive. They develop an increasing inability (and unwillingness) to love and respect their parents – as biblically prophesied[vii] – making it increasingly difficult for well-meaning parents to bring up their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” – and “not provoke them to anger.”[viii] A general failure to manifest the love of God reverberates around the family. And, like ripples on a pond, the effects spread out through society as a whole.

Not having a clue as to the root cause of the increasing chaos, parents do their best, muddling along and putting up a good front until “irreconciliable differences” cause separation or divorce – and all the more likely as the “the sins of the fathers (merely including the abrogation of their paternal authority) are transmitted down to the third and fourth generations.”[ix]

The ideal solution to this downward spiral is for the father to take the bull by the horns and accept full responsibility, bow down before God and humbly confess his failure – perhaps most of all his inability (apart from self-esteem) to love his wife as Christ loves the church. Or, if he just can’t do that, and the wife has the wherewithal and knows Scripture, she can take the initiative and be the one to make a confession before God, forgive her husband and resolve to be more a loving, more submissive and nurturing wife. And, since many if not most women secretly blame themselves, they need to forgive themselves – for starters, for feeling they have failed to see themselves as righteous and pleasing to God, new creatures in Christ,[x] a strong antidote for low self-esteem! If she succeeds in forgiving herself, she will help restore her husband to his God-given place in the family and will, perhaps for the first time, discover the joy God intended for her as a woman. Without this healing, one’s capacity for overturning generations of inherited hatred and despair is just about nil – especially, nowadays, insofar as emotional and spiritual maturity may in fact depend upon acknowledging and implementing the biblical model and related biblical promises. For Christians, the truth is not what we feel about ourselves, but who we are in Christ. Short of confessing the truth as God sees it, husbands and wives will continue blaming the other for being less than the person they deserve – which, in effect, is the parent they never had.

In my experience with families, the blame game stops only when both husband and wife are freed from the oppressive grip of low self-esteem, guilt and needing the other to be the perfect spouse – a feat only possible if Jesus has become the center of their home. Not willy-nilly because of religious doctrine but because of who we are as men and women and the corresponding importance, if we expect success, to do things God’s way. Some powerful Scripture is relevant here: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.”[xi] And, when asked how one can please God, Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: believe in the one he sent.” Unbelievers ought to meditate on these promises and reconsider their worldview since they too, despite their attempts to do away with sin, are prone to be hard on themselves. Worse yet, should they fail to repent, they will – apart from Jesus – enter the next life condemned by the very law they are striving to fulfill.[xii] This is tragic insofar as the Bible teaches that there is no righteousness apart from Jesus. It is just unfortunate that most unbelievers haven’t a clue about the truth of real biblical Christianity or that such striving – essentially pulling oneself up by the bootstraps – is the antithesis of biblical Christianity.

As for our nation, there is only one course of action that might reverse the current downward spiral. It is summed up by this familiar Bible verse from the Old Testament:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”[xiii]

Unfortunately, the percentage of the population open to this instruction may not be enough to offset the evil and immorality that is now rampant in our society. And in many situations, the oppression is so deep that in order to experience real healing, all or most members of a family will need the fourth ministry of Jesus – the ministry of deliverance from impure or unclean spirits. The problem here is that modern psychology and psychiatry have usurped and ridiculed this ministry, causing people to believe that science and modern psychology are superior to biblical revelation – thereby making it very difficult to appreciate that destructive negative emotions, according to the Bible, are really “demons” or “spirits”[xiv] over which every believer has authority. Unfortunately few churches – otherwise preaching a solid biblical message – teach this distinction. To use the words of Jesus, they “have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.”[xv] For example, they do not teach their parishioners that every believer has the power to “demolish (emotional) strongholds which go contrary to the knowledge of God.”[xvi] And so even believers today rarely achieve a biblical understanding of demonology, or why Jesus sent his disciples out to spend most of the day casting out demons – in one instance, many at sunset.[xvii] This kind of healing, in the words of Jesus, is the “children’s bread”[xviii] – meaning that the deliverance ministry is for believers (“children of Abraham”). If you’re inclined to look into this further, be advised that the term “demon possession” is nowhere to be found in the original Bible manuscripts – it is a liberal translation of the Greek word daimonizomai which means “to have (or be oppressed by) a demon.”

Let’s move on now to the more extreme significance of low self-esteem: gender confusion. In preparation for marriage a child (or young adult) identifies with the parent of the same sex – an impending disaster if this same-sex parent has low self-esteem or, which is essentially the same, self-rejection. We see, assuming a biblical understanding of manhood and womanhood, that when a parent has low self-esteem the same sex child is more likely to experience a sexual reversal – the consequence, I am proposing, of the father having lost his place of authority in the home, together with a loss of his self-esteem. This means, for example, that if a girl grows up with a mother who is spiritually speaking a man and a father who spiritually speaking is a woman (spiritually castrated so to speak), she is likely to seek a mate who is similarly reversed – setting the stage for further and more serious self-esteem issues in her marriage. Sooner or later, perhaps in a succeeding generation (where reversal has deepened), “emotional” comfort will be found in a homosexual relationship where, strange as it may sound and thanks to spiritual reversal, a “normal” heterosexual relationship is spiritually achieved – for it comes as no surprise that in most if not all homosexual relationships one partner is the dominant “male” while the other is the more submissive “female” – as biblically prescribed! We are becoming a nation where to a grievous extent men are becoming more and more like women and women are becoming more and more like men – women in men’s bodies and men in women’s bodies.

Further variations occur. For example, incest can be explained as the consequence of low self-esteem and related unmet needs on the part of the husband or wife, causing one or both to look to their children for the missing intimacy; and, conversely, causing a child with low self-esteem to be sexually attracted to a parent – in the ilk of a Freudian Oedipus or Electra complex. As a physician, I have been stunned with the frequency with which actual incest does in fact occur – almost never between mother and son, given the strong taboo against this in all cultures, but with an alarming frequency between father and daughter; or between the child and some non-nuclear family member. I recall one daughter describing an affair with her father that lasted well into her college years.

Now for a biological and neuroscientific slant. Given that every state of mind has its parallel in the brain, there is yet another consequence of spiritual reversal – “emotional” and physical disease. And this is not all that surprising when you think about the neurological changes produced in a reversed individual – between brain activity and the truth of one’s procreative anatomy down below. When, for example, guilt (defined in previous posts as an intensified tension between the two divisions of the autonomic nervous system) is prolonged, our God-given defense mechanisms can be easily overwhelmed. After all, we have not lived a life in line with God’s instruction manual. Should self-rejection (closely tied to guilt) be strong, the immune system will begin, quite logically, to attack normal tissue as if that part of the body had become foreign – as if an intruding antigen. Autoimmune diseases – logically linked to self-rejection – are in fact increasing at an alarming rate. Many, understandably, will seek medication, fulfilling a prophecy in Revelation that all nations will fall prey to the deceptions of pharmacology.[xix]

Breast cancer may develop when, consequent to sexual reversal and related self-rejection, women lose their sense of self worth as a nurturer – statistically linked (as studies around the world confirm[xx]) with the loss of a loved one – with whom the woman played a nurturing role. Indeed, research shows that in women experiencing such a loss, the electrical signal from brain to breast is significantly altered[xxi] – perhaps to the exact measure that with the loss of a loved one, it is (with respect to brain activity) as though the breast were no longer there or had lost its significance. It is unlikely to be pure coincidence that, with the passing of several generations, there has been a sharp rise in breast cancer, to all appearances paralleling an increase in guilt and self-rejection, a change linked in time to increasing societal disrespect for paternal authority – and, not surprisingly, for the true, biblical worth and equality of women.

Meanwhile, gurus in ivory towers, replete with their own spiritual reversals, proclaim disease to be “environmental” or “genetic” – failing to consider that the one sure cure for at least some disease is reconciliation with God through the guilt-neutralizing blood of Jesus. Unfortunately, because of increasing disdain for the Bible – in large measure because evolution has “proven” it to be false – there is little recourse other than to search for new and more powerful medicines, whose side effects can be worse than the disease.

Liberals attempt to resolve the problem of guilt and rejection by denying the existence of sin – an anti-god belief nicely accommodated by an evolution perspective – while, ironically, reprimanding Bible believers as the worst kind of hypocrites or sinners: misogynists and hate mongers – even picking and choosing Scripture to “prove” that their point of view is godly! The truth is that everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God[xxii] and therefore needs to reconnect with their Creator, Jesus. (Formal religion, especially that which replaces true, blood-based Christianity with the Golden Rule, makes matters worse by preaching that all will be well if people will just do their best to tolerate others – a message that puts political correctness above principle and whitewashes the guilt and chaos engendered by spiritual reversal.[xxiii] )

As violence increases, new gun laws will be enacted. Executive orders will be given, not coincidentally by a President who was raised in a spiritually reversed home and whose anger and personal guilt have caused him to be intent upon saving the world with his own ideology – seemingly oblivious that in the eyes of a holy God our most righteous acts are but “filthy rags.”[xxiv] As the Bible puts, we can only please God by faith and “not by works lest anyone should boast”[xxv] – a teaching which expresses the fundamental faith-based nature of the Universe. It is, at any rate, revealing that liberals (which I define as those who take liberties with the Word of God) are, increasingly promoting tolerance for all religions – with the exception of biblical Christianity!

Not coincidentally, an increasingly tyrannical government is doing its best to turn us all into mindless zombies, a government no longer of the people, by the people, or for the people[xxvi] – or under God in whom we live, a God who sustains everything from superstrings to the complexities of the human brain by the anticipated, immersive nature of an image.

If nothingness ever truly existed, then something – anything – would be logically impossible. True nothing, as contrasted with the quantum fluctuations described by physicists, would by definition have no mechanism for creating either matter or energy. Nothingness would therefore reign eternally. A Big Bang singularity (the point at which everything did in fact began) is an absurdity apart from the anticipating mind of God who must therefore exist, exactly as the Bible teaches, outside of space and time. Only God can create ex nihilo, out of nothing. The only option – claimed by atheists and certain religious cults – is that matter is eternal. This, however, is also absurd insofar as matter consists of tiny particles which go in and out of existence. Where do these particles go and what is the logic by which they vanish and then reappear? We need in my opinion, and as explained in my three (soon to be four) books, to understand how the relationship between something and nothing is exactly equivalent to the relationship between the finite and the infinite, the specific and nonspecific (as describes the anatomy of the brain) – and therefore depends upon a transcendent observer who stabilizes this relationship by the expectable specificity of an image.

This specificity is actually created by its anticipated, but momentary absence — a paradigm beautifully housed in the cortico-limbic design of the human brain! At the deepest physical level, brain activity, including the peaks and troughs of the standard EEG, depends on the unceasing activity of infinitesimally miniscule superstrings which annihilate and recreate themselves in such tiny fractions of time that the distinction between the finite and the infinite becomes blurred — analogous, at the level of the brain, to the way an image represents, actually is, an interface between existence and nonexistence.

For a more complete analysis, presented in an amplified version of this posting, read Consciousness Finally Explained: A Perfect Synthesis of God and Brain. This and an earlier book (an in-depth study of how brain anatomy depends upon infinity) can be accessed through the “Home” tab at the top of this page.

Apart from an image nothing can be created or sustained. The gist of the argument is that every image is actualized, consequent to its anticipation in tiny quanta of time, by the implication of its absence: weightlessness – or some regressive change in this direction. This means that everything is perceived on the basis of novelty and related arousal. Consciousness is accordingly a vector between the familiar and the novel – a fact which brings other parts of the brain into the overall logic; for example, the brainstem reticular formation which “just happens” to be tightly connected to the limbic brain. The reticular formation is in fact a key structure by which immersion (and an equivalent energy-sufficiency relative to the body mass) is implemented. However, the point for now is that the anticipation of an image – in the more encompassing sense of tending the body mass toward survival – results in the action needed for enhancing the probability of remaining finite. Just remember that an image does not really cause this enhancement. In a God-centered universe, an image is the enhancement.

Perception is anything but a passive process where visual and other stimuli flow passively into the brain. Indeed, extrapolating from neural design, anticipation is responsible for the creation of all matter and therefore the Universe itself. Look at it this way – in order for an image to be anticipated, it must fulfill two criteria; it must be finite and must accordingly have expectable specificity. It takes little thought to recognize that the finite and the specific are inseparable, giving us reason to believe that the specificity of an image is inseparably bound to the specificity of our body mass and the specificity of its movement through space and time. By simple extrapolation, the Universe, specific and orderly, is a finite image in the mind of God. As for what is beyond this finite Universe, that is a question raised by materialists who cannot grasp (it is very difficult to grasp) that beyond this Universe there is neither space nor time. There is only one transcendent God, outside of space and time, in whom we live and move and for whom conceptualizing an outer edge makes no sense. Reality is neither spatial nor temporal. God, not matter, is fundamental.
