RIPPLE (XRP), NEXT BIG THING TO HAPPEN IN CRYPTO MARKET

Popular payment based crypto company, Ripple, which controls the fourth most valuable cryptocurrency by market capitalization, recently unlocked 1 billion XRP, worth about $177.6 million, from an escrow account.

Market transaction movement monitored by Whale Alert, occurred in two different 500 million XRP transactions, in real-time.

Ripple owns more than half of the total supply of XRP. In late 2017, the company vowed not to sell all of its tokens (XRP) at once, keeping up to 55 billion XRP in protected escrow accounts.

It then set up a plan to release about 1,000,000,000 XRP monthly for sale to be used as funding for its operations, and to invest in startups of interest, with the rest kept back in the escrow accounts.

Ripple (XRP) plays dual roles as a payment platform and a currency. The platform is an open-source platform that is created to allow quick and cheap transactions.

Unlike its crypto rival, Bitcoin, which was never intended to be a simple payment system, Ripple has gained the attention of major global banks, like Standard Chartered, and Barclays for international transactions worldwide.

Recall that a few months ago, the U.S Consumer Financial Protection Bureau looked excited about Ripple as a tool for bringing simplicity and openness to the financial industry.

It said: “To the degree banks and credit unions increase their reliance on closed network payment systems for sending remittance transfers and other cross-border money transfers, the Bureau notes that this could result in greater standardization and ease by which sending institutions can know exact covered third-party fees and exchange rates.

“The Bureau also believes that expanded adoption of SWIFT’s GPI product or Ripple’s suite of products could similarly allow banks and credit unions to know the exact final amount that recipients of remittance transfers will receive before they are sent.”

Muhammadu Buhari, Sunday 30th May 2020

President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,

Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dear Mr. President,

MR. PRESIDENT; PLEASE BELONG TO ALL OF US.

“One of the swiftest ways of destroying a Kingdom is to give preference of one particular tribe over another or show favor to one group of people rather than another. And to draw near those who should be kept away and keep away those who should be drawn near” Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio.

I have been prompted to write you this open letter, Mr. President, by the loud sounds of drums, singing and dancing that erupted within many groups in the last few days on the grounds that you attained the 5th year in office as President of Nigeria. It comes as no surprise that enthusiasm for the celebration is not shared equally by segments of the public. While your admirers and supporters believe you have performed well, many others believe the five years you have been in office as our President has not met the yearnings, expectations and change promised Nigerians.

Mr. President, you know me well enough and my position on issues to realize that I can be neither a rabid supporter nor a fanatical opponent of yours. I believe being a responsible citizen is enough reason to wish you well and to work for your success. As we have seen all too clearly these past few years, your success is ours as is your failure. We swim or sink with you!

You might wish to recall that after the results of the 23rd of February 2019 presidential elections were announced, giving you victory, I addressed a press conference during which I urged the runner-up, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, to concede defeat. The reason was clear: tensions were running high and little missteps by the leaders might ignite violence, as often happened after major elections. Some supporters of Abubakar Atiku disagreed with me and told me off. As it happened, Alhaji Atiku went ahead to mount a legal challenge to the outcome of the elections up to the Supreme Court. Mercifully, his actions did not result in an outbreak of violence as we feared.

At the same occasion, I counselled the declared winner, your good self, to use the opportunity of your second term to redeem your pledge of being a leader and president of all Nigerians.

On the occasion of the first-year anniversary into your second four-year term, I feel there is an urgent need to revisit this subject matter.

Mr. President, you have often expressed the hope that history will be kind to you. It is within your competence to write that history. But you have less than three years in which to do it. You may wish to note that any authentic history must be devoid of myth. It will be a true, factual rendition of the record of your performance.

And truth be told, Mr. President, there are quite a lot of things that speak to your remarkable accomplishments, not least of which is that for the first time in our democratic history, a sitting President was defeated. That feat was achieved by Muhammadu Buhari. The reason was the public belief of you as a man of integrity.

The corollary to this is that at the expiration of your 8-year tenure in 2023, your achievements will not be measured solely by the physical infrastructure your administration built. An enduring legacy would be based on those intangible things like how much you uplifted the spirit and moral tone of the nation. How well have you secured the nation from ourselves and from external enemies?

At this time and in the light of all that have happened since you took office, any conversation with you Mr. President cannot gloss over the chaos that has overtaken appointments into government offices in your administration. All those who wish you and the country well must mince no words in warning you that Nigeria has become dangerously polarized and risk sliding into crisis on account of your administration’s lopsided appointments which continues to give undue preference to some sections of the country over others.

Nowhere is this more glaring than in the leadership cadre of our security services.

Mr. President, I regret that there are no kind or gentle words to tell you that your skewed appointments into the offices of the federal government, favoring some and frustrating others, shall bring ruin and destruction to this nation.

I need not remind you, Mr. President, that our political history is replete with great acts of exemplary leadership which, at critical moments, managed to pull this nation back from the precipice and assured its continued existence.

A few examples will demonstrate this:

In February, 1965, the NPC-led Federal Government was faced with a decision to appoint a successor to the outgoing Nigerian Army General Officer Commanding (GOC), General Welby Everard, a Briton. Four most senior officers were nominated; namely, Brigadiers Aguiyi Ironsi, Ogundipe, Ademulegun and Maimalari. The first three were senior to Maimalari but he was deemed to be more qualified due to his superior commission. He was the first Sandhurst Regular trained officer in the Nigerian Army. His being a Muslim Northerner like the Minister of Defense, Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu and the Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa granted him added advantage by today’s standards. But to the surprise of even the Igbos, and opposition from some senior NPC members, Minister Ribadu recommended Ironsi, pointing to his seniority. The Prime Minister concurred and Aguiyi Ironsi was confirmed as the first indigenous GOC of the Nigerian Army.

When on 13 February 1976, the Commander-in-Chief, General Murtala Muhammed, was assassinated in a failed Coup de tat, General Olusegun Obasanjo, his deputy and the most senior officer at the time, was sworn in as his successor. The Chief of Army Staff, General T.Y Danjuma, a Northern Christian, was next in line to succeed Obasanjo as the Chief of Staff, SHQ and Deputy Commander in Chief. General Danjuma however waived his right and recommended a much junior officer, Lt. Col. Shehu Musa Yar’adua, for the post. Shehu was promoted two steps up to the rank of Brigadier and appointed Chief of Staff SHQ and Deputy Commander-in-Chief. Lt. Col. Muhammadu Buhari was appointed Minister of Petroleum. This was done to placate Muslim North which was deemed to have lost one of its own, Murtala Muhammed.

Both the chief of staff, Mr. Sunday Awoniyi, and the personal physician Dr Ishaya Audu to the Premier of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, a direct descendant of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio, were Christians.

Barely nine years after the civil war in 1979, the NPN Presidential candidate, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, picked an Igbo, Dr Alex Ekwueme, as his running mate. They enjoyed a truly brotherly relationship as President and Vice President. President Shagari’s political advisor, Dr Chuba Okadigbo and National Assembly Liaison, assistant, Dr K.O Mbadiwe, were both Igbos. His economic advisor, Prof. Emmanuel Edozien and his Chief of Personnel Staff Dr Michael Prest, were of Niger Delta extraction. Remarkably, all his military service chiefs were Christians with the exception of his last Chief Army Staff, General Inuwa Wushishi under whose tenure he was removed in a military coup de tat.

Mr. President, as a witness and beneficiary, it is our expectation that you would emulate these great acts of statesmanship. Which is why we have continued to engage with you.

You may wish to recall that I had cause to appeal to you, to confirm Justice Onnoghen as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria a few days before the expiration of his three months tenure of acting appointment to be replaced by a Muslim Northerner. We were saved that embarrassment when his nomination was sent to the senate by the then acting President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo. When he was finally confirmed a few days to the end of his tenure, he was removed after a few months and replaced by Justice Muhammed, a Muslim from the North.

May I also invite the attention of Mr. President to the pending matter of appointment of a Chief Judge of the Nigerian Court Appeal which appears to be generating public interest. As it is, the most senior Judge, Justice Monica Dongban Mensem, a northern Christian, is serving out her second three-month term as acting Chief Judge without firm prospects that she will be confirmed substantive head. I do not know Justice Mensem but those who do attest to her competence, honesty and humility.

She appears eminently qualified for appointment as the substantive Chief Judge of the Court of Appeal as she is also said to be highly recommended by the National Judicial Council. If she is not and is bypassed in favor of the next in line who happens to be another northern Muslim, that would be truly odd. In which case, even the largest contingent of PR gurus would struggle to rebut the charges that you, Mr. President, is either unwilling or incapable of acting on your pledge to belong to everyone — and to no one. I hope you would see your way into pausing and reflecting on the very grave consequences of such failure not just to your legacy but to the future of our great country.

Champions League Referee Arrested During Police Raid

A 40-year-old referee who officiated Champions League game between Genk and Liverpool this season was detained in a cabin in Bijeljina where authorities also discovered nine women, 26 men and a cache of weapons and seized cocaine, weapons, and cash.

The Slovenian referee, Vincic, have reacted after he was arrested at a party as part of a probe into a prostitution and drugs ring.

It was reported that Vincic was arrested alongside with Tijana Maksimovic, who poli believe was the ringleader of the prostitution ring.

Bijeljina police said: "During the search of the house and vehicles used by the suspects, 14 packages of cocaine, ten pistols, three suits of body armour, over 10,000 euros (£8,996) in various currencies, phones and laptops were found and seized."

Vincic, who has now been released said he was invited to a business meeting in the Bosnian city of Bijeljina and just happened to be at the party by chance.

He confirmed he was allowed to return home on Friday after he was questioned by officers as a witness.

Speaking to Slovenian news outlet Vecer, Vincic said: "I found myself on this ranch by chance. I have my own company, I was in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a business meeting.

"I accepted an invitation to lunch, which turned out to be my biggest mistake. I regret it.

"I was sitting at a table with my company, all of a sudden the police came and what happened, happened.

"I have nothing to do with the group that was arrested and detained, nor do my business partners.

"Yes, they really took us to the police, asked as witnesses, when it turned out that we didn't even know them, we were able to go."

Vlado Sajn, the president of the Association of Football Referees of Slovenia has come to the defence of Vincic, who he said was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He said: "According to the information we gathered from official and unofficial sources, and last but not least from Slavko himself, he is not suspected of anything, no proceedings have been instituted against him.

"He found himself in this place at the wrong time. He was invited to a party where there was a large group of people - he did not know the vast majority.

"There was a raid, 15 people were arrested, and all the others were allegedly brought to the police station to testify as witnesses.

"Slavko is already in Slovenia. I consider this story to be a web of unfortunate circumstances."

Presidency Accuse Sahara Reporters As Fake News Factory, But Trending Video Proved Otherwise

The Spokesperson to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Garba Sheu have accused an online news house, Sahara Reporters as the country's fake news factory.

This was seen on his official Tweeter handle @GarShehu. He said; The country's fake news factory, @SaharaReporters is at it again. President Buhari addressed the conference yesterday. We were there. We all saw it.

But contrary to his claims against Sahara Reporters, a video in circulation proved that Mr. Garba Sheu's revelation may not be correct after all, because it clearly showed that, the President indeed was out of connection while delivering his speech at the virtual United Nations (UN) meeting.

A Tweeter user, @massTofa however cleared the President Assistant's claim with his post.

He said; Show whoever said there was no technical glitch this video.

Protesters Unanimously Reject George Floyd's Autopsy Results

Protesters took to Twitter to unanimously reject the result of George Floyd's autopsy which stated that there are “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation", but noted that Floyd had underlying health conditions.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner released these findings after conducting an autopsy on George Floyd on May 26.

The preliminary results of the autopsy were included in the statement of probable cause for charges against Derek Chauvin.

The statement said: “Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.”

The medical examiner noted that Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck for “8 minutes and 46 seconds total. Two minutes and 53 seconds of this was after Mr. Floyd was nonresponsive.”

The statement also notes that police are trained against using this type of restraint because it is “inherently dangerous.”

The result of the autopsy angered people and they took to Twitter to say that George didn't die because of his underlying health conditions. They pointed out that he would still be alive if Derek Chauvin had not knelt on his neck.

Online publications on Madagascar's Covid-Organics and the WHO have included two main claims: one purporting that Madagascar has left the WHO, and another stating that the WHO has offered Madagascar's president, Andry Rajoelina, 20 million dollars to poison Covid-Organics.

The case of Madagascar quitting the WHO

According to the claim, Mr Rajoelina has announced that his country has withdrawn its membership of the organisation and has further advised all other Africans to follow suit, by allegedly explaining that, "Europe created organisations with the desire for Africans to remain dependent on them."

Other articles that have also made this claim referenced an interview the Mr Rajoelina had on France 24 to be the source of the president's announcement to quit the WHO.

The case of WHO offering Madagascar $20 million to poison Covid-Organics

According to the claim, Mr Rajoelina has announced yet again that the WHO offered him 20 million dollars to put a little toxin in the Covid-Organics because Europeans have hacked the Covid-19 cure. He allegedly cautioned that, "People be vigilant, the World Health Organization that we have joined by thinking that it will help us, is there to kill Africans".

Several other articles that have also published this claim have attributed the source of the claim to a Tanzanian local newspaper, 'Tanzania Perspective'. In addition, a Kiswahili-based local newspaper, 'Fahari Yetu', which shares the same publishers with the Tanzania Perspective, also published this claim, indicating that the source of the Madagascar president's declaration is the interview he had on France 24.

Verification

Dubawa found the interview with France 24 where Mr Rajoelina is purported to have made both claims. In the interview, the president of Madagascar is seen addressing the criticisms Covid-Organics had received so far. He stated that it was because the cure was from Madagascar and not from a European country that such sceptical reactions have been given to the cure. Mr Rajoelina stated in the France 24 interview that, "No country or organisation will keep us from going forward."

In the interview, however, the president of Madagascar made no mention whatsoever of the withdrawal of his country from the WHO nor of any 20 million dollar offer from the WHO to poison the Covid-Organics as purported.

Meanwhile, Madagascar is currently listed under the African countries that the WHO operates in, indicating that the country is still a member of the organisation.

Dubawa further contacted the WHO country offices in Ghana and Madagascar to verify both claims. Both offices stated that both claims were false.

"The information is not true," the WHO Ghana office stated, in response to the organisation's alleged 20 million dollar offer to the Madagascar president.

"It is absolutely fake news. Madagascar is still a member of the board for the past three years now," the WHO Madagascar office confirmed when asked about Madagascar's membership of the WHO.

Conclusion

The claims stating that Madagascar has quit the World Health Organisation, and has been offered 20 million dollars by the organisation to kill the Covid-Organics project is false.

The interview purporting to be the source of the president of Madagascar's declaration of both claims does not reveal any such information. Furthermore, the WHO country offices in both Ghana and Madagascar have also stated that both claims are false.

US To Terminate Relationship With WHO

Donald Trump has announced that the US will be "terminating its relationship" with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Speaking in the Rose Garden at the White House, the US president said he wanted to redirect funds to other organisations in an anti-China address over the coronavirus pandemic.

He accused the WHO of failing to adequately respond to COVID-19 because China has "total control" over the global organisation.

He said Chinese officials "ignored" their reporting obligations to the WHO and pressured the group to mislead the world when the virus was first discovered.

It comes after weeks of criticism of the WHO by Mr Trump who has accused the organisation of not acting fast enough on the coronavirus outbreak.

The US is the biggest single contributor to the WHO, paying in around $450m (£360m) a year, with Mr Trump saying that China only contributed around $40m (£32m).

His move to cut ties with the organisation is expected to significantly weaken it while in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a revealing publication by a United States based news house and quoting President Muhammadu Buhari by saying that late General Sani Abacha, former Nigeria military Dictator, may have stolen close to $1bn between 1993 and 1998.

This was made known in an article published in Newsweek, a United States-based publication, while appreciating countries that have hitherto returned looted funds back to Nigeria.

Although the President did not directly mention Sani Abacha directly, however, it was clear that he was referring to the late dictator.

Buhari served under the late Abacha as head of Petroleum Trust Fund.

He said, “And we can now move forward with road, rail and power station construction, in part under own resources, thanks to close to a billion dollars of funds stolen from the people of Nigeria under a previous undemocratic junta in the 1990s that have now been returned to our country from the US, UK and Switzerland.

“That these friendly nations agreed to return these funds after so long is testament to the fact that Nigeria is rightly seen as an increasingly stable and beneficial place to transact and invest. It is much the same across the continent, with sub-saharan Africa now outpacing Asia, Europe and North America by some measure in terms of foreign direct investment inflows-to-GDP, perhaps for the very first time.”

Hundreds of millions of dollars stolen by the late Abacha and kept in foreign accounts have since been recovered by various Nigerian governments.

In 1998, General Abubakar Abdulsalami recovered $750m from the Abacha family; in 2000, General Olusegun Obasanjo recovered $64m from Switzerland; still in 2002, Obasanjo got another $1.2bn from a deal with the Abacha family and another $160m in 2003 from Jersey, British Island. Obasanjo got another $88m in 2003, $461m in 2005 and $44 in 2006, all from Switzerland.

On his part, former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan retrieved $227m from Liechtenstein while President Buhari got $322 in 2018 and the last $311 in 2020.

Canadian Rising Star, Houdini Shot Dead

Fast rising Canadian rapper has died of gunshot in Toronto.

Houdini, 21, was reportedly gunned down on Tuesday evening outside a hotel in the downtown area of the city.

He was one of three people taken to hospital with injuries but was pronounced dead later in the day. The two others, a woman, 27, and a 15-year-old boy are expected to recover from the attack.

Toronto Police believe it was a targeted shooting after gunfire broke out outside the hotel sometime after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Toronto Police Chief, Mark Saunders described the shooting as "very brazen" and revealed cops responded to reports of gunfire yesterday evening.

He said the attack was planned and suspects had been waiting in their car for around 40 minutes before opening fire.

Saunders explained: "It turns out the suspect vehicle, based on the evidence we have right now, was waiting for about forty minutes for the occupants of another vehicle to arrive to their vehicle.

"When they did, the suspect vehicle made a U-turn, came out, and started firing at this group of individuals."

"This was very brazen, this offence that took place,” he said. “However, it’s very solvable...

"There was a driver of the suspect vehicle and we know that the shooter got out on the passenger side."

A firearm was reportedly recovered from the scene and police are appealing for people with information to come forward.

A witness told CP24: "What we heard was like a bunch of fireworks. There were lots of echoes – about six to 10 shots. It was quite startling and then you hear all the sirens afterwards.

"I think a lot of people have power outages in this area too, so people were out for a walk I guess. It’s quite shocking to see in this area."

Fellow Toronto rapper, Tory Lanez took to Instagram to react to Houdini's death.

Donald Trump Orders FBI, Department Of Justice To Investigate George Floyd's Death

President Donald Trump has promised justice as the death of an African American man, George Floyd in Minneapolis sparked protests.

In tweets, President Trump said he has already directed the FBI and Department of Justice to look into the death of George Floyd.

Video shows a Minneapolis police officer pressing his knee on Floyd’s neck while Floyd said he couldn’t breathe. Floyd was pronounced dead at a hospital after being detained by police.

The President further tweeted;

“I have asked for this investigation to be expedited and greatly appreciate all of the work done by local law enforcement,” the president added. “My heart goes out to George’s family and friends. Justice will be served!”

The president’s tweets come hours after Mayor Jacob Frey called for the officer involved in the arrest to be charged with Floyd’s death.

The Minneapolis Police Department has already fired the four officers involved with the call.

State leaders along with the Hennepin County Attorney say a thorough investigation into Floyd’s death is underway but declined to say if and when charges could come down.

Lagos State To Create More Islands For Infrastructural Development

In order to readily make available land and space for housing and infrastructural development, the Lagos State Government has disclosed efforts put in place to continue to create man-made islands on its waterfronts.

Arch. Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, the Honourable Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, made this known at the Year 2020 Ministerial Press Briefing at JJT Park Alausa, Ikeja, to mark the first year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

He said work has commenced on the reclamation of 100 hectares of the land proposed for mixed-use development named “Ostia Islands”, beside Orange Island at Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The Commissioner added that approval have also been granted for reclamation of 54.58 hectares at Makoko axis, while the Majidun-Awori Island project will be embarked upon to bring commercial and residential real estate development to the Ikorodu corridor.

Abdullahi stated that the projects will be financed through Public-Private Partnership. He listed other upcoming projects such as King’s City Island, to be constructed on 150 hectares and located 300 metres north of Victoria Garden City; and Olumegbon Royal Land (Palaver Yard Extension) with proposed 6.6 hectares of land.

While giving report on current projects, he said Lagos State Government along with its partners have been working round the clock on the Orange and Gracefield Islands construction during the period under review.

Woman Call 911 On Black Man, But Got Fired By Her Employer For Racial Intent

A White woman, Amy Cooper, who called 911 claiming an African American man was threatening her life have had her employment terminated hours after she was placed on administrative leave.

Amy before the incidence was the Head of Insurance Investment Solutions at Franklin Templeton, but was fired immediately after the May 25th incident in New York's Central Park.

The announcement was made on Twitter by her employer.

Franklin Templeton tweeted via its official Twitter account: "Following our internal review of the incident in Central Park yesterday, we have made the decision to terminate the employee involved, effective immediately. We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton."

This announcement comes hours after the company issued a statement to reveal Amy Cooper has been placed on administrative leave after she called 911 to falsely claim that Christian Cooper, an African American man, was threatening her life.

African American Man, George Floyd Brutally Killed By Minneapolis Police Officer (Video)

An African American man was killed after a Minneapolis police officer was filmed kneeling on his neck, making it difficult for him to breathe. He was identified as George Floyd. All officers involved in the incidence have been fired.

According to activist Shaun King, George Floyd "was beloved". He was "from the 3rd Ward in Houston and was well known all over Houston. He was up in Minneapolis for work."

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that 4 Minneapolis police officers have been fired over George Floyd's death. Though only two police officers were caught in the video making the rounds, another video shared by the victim's brother has shown that there were 4 officers at the scene.

It was announced on Tuesday, May 26 that police officers involved have been fired following the death of George Floyd on Monday, May 25, after an officer knelt on his neck while he was handcuffed on the ground, shouting that he couldn’t breathe.

Warning: Disturbing footage

Police Chief Medaria Arradondo announced their terminations during a news conference. Although he did not publicly identify the officers. However, Shaun King has shared the identity of two of the police officers involved.

"It is the right decision for our city," Mayor Jacob Frey said of the firings. "We’ve stated our values and ultimately we need to live by them."

The horrific video shared online shows an officer pressing his knee into Floyd’s neck, while Floyd is pinned face-down on the street. Floyd can be heard repeatedly pleading with officer to get up.

"Please man, I can’t breathe," Floyd said.

However, the officer did not listen. Within minutes, the video shows Floyd closing his eyes and no longer speaking. The officer appears to keep his knee on Floyd’s neck, even as onlookers begin shouting that he isn’t moving and demand that officers help him.

Police called for an ambulance but Floyd died shortly after arriving at a hospital, the Minneapolis Police Department said in a press release.

Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating Floyd’s death. The bureau said in a statement Tuesday that it will present its findings without recommendation to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review.

The FBI has opened a separate federal civil rights investigation into the matter at the request of the Minneapolis Police Department, Arradondo said.

NSCDC Inspector Murdered By Suspected Herdsmen

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders have murdered an Inspector of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Joseph Ochogwu, in Benue State.

The was confirmed by the Media Assistant to the Commandant General of the NSCDC in the state, Ekunola Gbenga.

According to Mr. Gbenga, the Commandant of the corps in the state, Isah Ado, confirmed the killing during the handing over of over 460 cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen that were impounded by the Livestock Guards for violating the anti-grazing law of the state.

Speaking on his officer’s gruesome murder, Mr. Ado, said Mr. Ochogwu was killed in Guma Local Government Area in his line of duty, a fortnight ago.

He said an investigative panel has been set up to investigate the murder of the gallant officer whose corpse has been deposited in the morgue.

He stated that the North Central Zonal Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Danladi Ciroma, was cooperating with the corps to apprehend the perpetrators for possible prosecution.

Mr. Ciroma, who also reportedly confirmed the killing of the NSCDC officer, said Mr. Ochogwu was murdered while trying to ensure peace in the state.
