When it comes to eating Thai food in Thailand, I’m going to tell you a secret:

It’s all pretty damn good!

A few places may make your favorite dish a little better than others, but that’s about it.

It really doesn’t matter where you order it from. Thai’s make Thai food good whether you are at an expensive restaurant or eating at a small shop along the street. All it really comes down to is how much you prefer to pay.

Personally, I like to pay no more than 60 baht (2usd) for a Thai meal.

With all this in mind, if you are anything like me, before I came to Thailand I had no idea what to order. I knew some of the basics like Fried Rice, but that’s about it.

Unless you have an Asian food fetish, there is a good chance that you’ll play it safe when you first order Thai food. I was the same. Here is a list of “safe” Thai food to order:

5 Safe (non-spicy) Thai Dishes:

Chicken Fried Rice
Chicken Pad Thai
Fried Chicken Cashew Nut
Chicken Satay
Chicken and Rice (Khao man gai)

These are some great dishes to start out with if you are a picky eater or just haven’t developed the taste palate for Thai food yet. You can easily exchange chicken for pork or beef and these dishes are not spicy, unlike most Thai food.

However, as time goes by you will probably branch out to more “traditional” Thai food. Here is a list of 10 other Thai dishes worth trying:

10 Must Have Thai Dishes:

1- Chicken Panang

2- Massaman Curry

3- Chicken Coconut Soup

4- Som Tam

5- Khao Pad Gai

6-Tom Yam Goong

7- Kuay Tiew (Noodle Soup)

8- Geng Kheaw Wan Gai (Green Curry Chicken)

9- Gai Pad Pongali

10- Kao Niew Moo Yang

For the above Thai dishes, be sure to say “not spicy.” Even if you think you can handle spicy, you will quickly find out that what you thought was spicy, isn’t even close to what Thais consider spicy

In 2009 when I first moved to Thailand, a friend gave me one piece of advice that I will never forget:

What is good in Thailand, is really good

And

What is bad in Thailand, is really bad

It took more a couple of years of living in Thailand to really understand these words and believe them whole-heartedly. And after five years of living all over Thailand, they ring true to this day.

So what do they really mean?

It really comes down to what you focus on when you are in Thailand. If all you see are the negative things like:

– Lack of sidewalks
– Garbage
– Visa runs
– Traffic
– The Farang tax (paying more for the same service or product because you are white)
– Etc….

Then your Thailand experience will suck. There is no location on this planet which is perfect. Each city / country has their pros and cons. Trust me, I know. I’ve been searching for heaven for the last 10 years scouring Europe, Asia, and South America.

However, Thailand has a hold on me and always will. Because the good of Thailand, is really fucking good:

– Low cost of living
– Amazing food
– Beautiful women
– Beaches with crystal clear warm water
– Outdoor scenery that rivals Hawaii
– Free sex with stunning Thai women is easy. (You don’t even need to leave your apartment, they come to you if you know how to do it right)
– International friends (I now have friends from all over the world)
– Partying (Where else can you get a VIP table with a bottle of Vodka or Whiskey for 60usd while surrounded by gorgeous women???)
– Safety (One of the safest countries to life in. Very little crime or scams. Try saying that about Amsterdam or New York)
– Etc…

As with life, you can focus on the good or the bad. The choice is yours…

Throughout the last five years, I’ve traveled to Bangkok as tourist, I have lived in Bangkok as an expat, and I have attended some of the best parties of the world in Bangkok.

So when it comes to Bangkok Nightlife, I know my shit!

These 4 Golden Rules are what you NEED to know about partying in Bangkok. This is a quick guide that will offer the first timers some much needed advice about the nightlife of Bangkok Thailand.

Golden Rule 1: Dress Nice

Do NOT show up to a club in Bangkok wearing flip flops and shorts. Wear a nice pair of jeans, dress shirt, and shoes. You don’t need to go all out, just dress like you care a bit.

Not only will you look nice, which will increase your appeal to more women in Thailand, but this will open up more options in Bangkok because at some clubs/bars a dress code is enforced.

Golden Rule 2: Bangkok is a Bottle City

When you go clubbing in Bangkok, do NOT get a beer and hang by the bar. Bangkok is a Bottle city! Which means, if you are more than one person, get a bottle of vodka or whiskey. Drink, chat, find a girl, take her home, and then fuck.

Not only do you get free entry for purchasing a bottle, but you also have a “home base” in the club.

Note to Solo Travelers: Standing alone at a table with a bottle does not look very cool. In your case, get a mixed drink and mingle. Do NOT hang out alone at the bar for hours!

Golden Rule 3: Table Placement in Everything

When you order a bottle at a club, the staff will take you to a table. Table placement is everything in Bangkok. If the staff tries to put you around a bunch of men, say no. Give the staff a tip of a hundred baht (3usd), and request to be around women.

GoT Tip: If there are no open tables. Approach a table full of women and kindly ask if you can share their table. Thai people are naturally friendly and more times than not, they will agree.

Golden Rule 4: After Party Clubs

The women of Bangkok LOVE to party. Going home with a new sexy Thai girl at 2:30am when the “normal clubs” close is much more difficult than going home at 5am.

Thai Girls Want to Party Late!

Which is why it is WAY easier to take home a girl from an after party club like Mixx and Insanity, then it is when a normal club closes at 2:30am (Route 66, Levels, etc…)

If you meet a girl at a regular club, expect to move the party to a Late Night Club before taking her home.

Aromatherapy is a popular treatment that goes hand in hand with many of the other holistic health practices found throughout Thailand.

Aromatherapy is done with essential oils. These oils are extracted from plants, most frequently those with pleasing scents or which are believed to have healing properties. Common choices are scents like peppermint, lavender, and rose. While flowers and herbs are popular, essential oils can also be extracted from bark, seeds, or other sources. There tally of essential oils is usually put at about 150.

Treatments involving aromatherapy are increasingly popular. Certain scents and the oils themselves are thought to be able to relieve pain, increase energy levels, reduce stress, clear the mind…you name it. Essential oils are rubbed into the skin to treat muscle aches and improve your mood. By stimulating nerves, these scenes affect your brain and nervous system. Each is believed to have its own special abilities.

A few properties of various essential oils include qualities of anti-inflammation, antiviral, and even anti-depression.

In Thailand you will find that nearly all the massage shops offer an Aromatherapy option.  But many are shit. A good rule of thumb is, if the price is under 1,000 baht (30usd) for an Aromatherapy massage, you should skip it.

I’m often asked, “Is online dating in Thailand really worth it?”  Or is it just a scam where website owners get a referral bonus for referring customers.

On a good night of partying in Bangkok, I may talk to around 10 hot Thai girls and get around 5 phone numbers. I will probably sleep with one of the girls that night, and another one later that week.

On a bad night, I may get 3 phone numbers from hot Thai girls, and not sleep with any of them.

With online dating in Thailand, I can easily get 10 phone numbers in an hour just by sitting on my sofa in my underwear. Out of those ten, I will usually sleep with two of them.

Not to mention, there are thousands of hot Thai girls across the dating websites we recommend.

Easy:
It’s so fucking easy to get a Thai girls phone number using online dating. Setting up the date usually requires a couple of hours chatting back and forth. But once you have the date, you will have about an 80% sex ratio…if you play it right.

Thailand has something for everything.  If you like meaningless sex with kinky hookers, Thailand has you covered.  If you meaningless sex with “good girls”, Thailand also has you covered.

The more people that take a couple of weeks to enjoy this paradise of the east, the more prices will rise and more competition there will be for the beautiful women of Thailand.

The fact of the matter is, Thailand is a fucking amazing place.  And if you do it right, you will have the time of your life living like a god.

The only problem is, for 99% of the men out there, this amazing time must come to an end.  They have to leave the fantasy-land and return back to their normal…very boring lives.

So they go home and within one day they are missing Thailand.  By day two he is trying to figure out when he can return.  By day three he is looking at all of his pictures of the pussy that he slayed…wishing he didn’t leave.

Then the depression hits hard.  The job seems less fulfilling, all the shit that used to matter like bills, daily to dos, playing games, and visiting friends…..seems so dull.

This happens to just about everyone I have met who had a great time in Thailand.  Shit, this even happens to me when I do my yearly trip back to the States.

There is something about Thailand that you miss so much when you leave.  It could be the unlimited amount of easily attainable beautiful women.  The great weather.  The freedom you have.  Or it could even be the awesome friends you met along the way.

Whatever it is, Thailand is a place you will miss.

So How Do You Get Over This Feeling?

1- Acknowledgement
Everyone goes through this, men and women alike.  So understand that this feeling is completely natural.  It sucks, but it’s something everyone goes through.

2- Workout / Fill The Void
Fill the void with something.  I prefer to hit the gym.  Exercise is proven to increase your happiness level and it keeps you busy an hour every day.

3- Give It Time
For me and quite a few others, it usually takes about 2 – 3 weeks to start to feel normal again and the longing gradually lessen.

My Final Advice:

Don’t party back in your home town till you start to feel like your old self again.  Getting drunk and not having countless women approach you will only put you into a bigger funk.

Try to get back to your normal everyday life as soon as you can.  Then plan your next Thailand adventure.
