Soi Cowboy is one of three major red-light districts in Bangkok Thailand (the other two are Nana Plaza and Patpong Road). Soi Cowboy is a street which is about 150 meters long and is created for one thing, sex and prostitution in Thailand. It is located between Sukhumvit Soi 21 and 23 and is full of “girl bars” and “gogo dance clubs”.

About Soi Cowboy in Bangkok Thailand

Colorful, sexy, fun, and relaxed are the best descriptors for Soi Cowboy, where there are nearly always crowds and plenty of girls inviting you in to this or that bar. The go-go bars here are loud and bright. Each one features a center stage and some feature other areas for dancers.

You won’t find too many Thais hanging out in the bars of Soi Cowboy, but there may be a few. It’s especially popular with older male expats and with tourists from Japan or Western countries. Everybody is pretty friendly and it is very laid-back. There aren’t any entry fees, and you can be confident that drink prices are set.

You can generally choose seats close to the stage or further back. Pole dancing is the main show, performed by scantily clad girls late into the night. Most bars close between 2:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Usually, a drink will cost between 100 and 150 baht (3 – 5usd). Some places are little more expensive, and you may have to pay nearly 200 baht (6usd). Some venues charging the latter include the well—known Midnite. Unlike some areas of Bangkok, at Soi Cowboy the girls aren’t usually too forceful about buying drinks. But if you want the girl to sit and talk with you, it is expected that you purchase drinks for her or tip continually.

Midnite Go-Go Bar

Midnite Go-Go Bar is one of the best venues in Soi Cowboy. It is a little more expensive than many others, but in return it is quite nice overall and is always kept up properly. Enjoy the large center stage, complete with plenty of comfortable seating. Most beers cost about 180 baht.

Baccara

This crowded, much-frequented go-go bar is one of the top nightlife spots in Soi Cowboy. If you head here, do your best to get in early, as it can be quite hard to find some space later on. Baccara is so popular in part because it does have some great, comfortable sofa seating (even if it isn’t always enough!). Clean, modern, and well-lit, Baccara has a center stage that gets as crowded as the rest of the place. Still, there’s lots of fun to be had here, and it’s especially popular with Japanese visitors. A bit more expensive than other go-go bars, Baccara makes up for it in popularity and style.

Déjà Vu A Go-Go

Drinks can be had for about one hundred baht at Déjà vu A Go-Go, one of the top go-go bars in Soi Cowboy. There’s a big stage here, complete with all the necessary poles for the girl dancers. These shows usually take place on Fridays through Sundays. One major attraction of Déjà Vu is that its employees, including the dancers, typically speak English better than those of other venues.

First of all, who the fuck am I to tell you if it is “okay” to fuck a Ladyboy while you visit Thailand?  You are an adult and you can make your own decisions…

Studies have shown that up to 20% of all Thai ladyboys have HIV.  This is a HUGE statistic that you need to keep in mind before you put unprotected dick inside the “he-shes” of Thailand.

2- The Date Rape Drug

Ever woke up the next morning with a giant hangover only to find that all of your money, electronics, and valuables are missing – with no memory of the previous night?

If so, there is a good chance that you accidently took home a ladyboy and she slipped you the “date rape drug” so that you would pass out.  12 hours later you wake up without being raped and without any of your valuables.

This has happen to a couple of my friends, and when they report it to the police, the police says that this is almost always done by ladyboys.  (Video footage uncovered a couple of days later proved that to be true in these cases.)

3- Stage 5 Clingers

If you thought it was difficult trying get a Thai girl to leave your hotel in the morning, that is nothing compared to trying to kick out a ladyboy the next morning.  Even if you thought you took the “he-she” home for free, you will be in for a rude awakening when the “he-she” simply refuses to leave your home until you pay 5,000 baht.  Or better yet, they will just cling onto you and play the role of your “GF” looking for the perfect chance to rob you.

Below is a true story that literally just happened 3 days ago to an acquaintance of mine in Thailand, which is what motivated me to write this article: 

Man meets lady.  Man takes lady home.  Lady stays with him for a couple of days.  Man doesn’t know it is a ladyboy…but we do.  When we try to tell him, he doesn’t believe us.

Man goes to the ATM and pulls out 20,000 baht (650usd).  Man puts 19,000 baht into the “ladyboys” purse while he takes 1,000 baht and enters the pharmacy.

Two minutes later the man exits the pharmacy, the ladyboy and “her” motor bike are gone.  Man never sees the ladyboy again.

Is this guy an idiot?  Probably.  But this just goes to show, even if the ladyboy plays the “perfect girlfriend” role enough to build your trust, the “he-shes” are just waiting for the chance to rob the tourist when opportunity presents itself.

It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Thai ladyboys.  I have nothing against being gay, but I do have a problem with men tricking other men into thinking they are a woman just so they can drug and rob them.

Some of you may be reading this and think this is the most prejudice piece of shit that you’ve ever read.  But let me tell you, this isn’t just one man’s biased opinion regarding Ladyboys – nor am I making this up.  This comes from 5 years of living in Thailand and knowing hundreds of men who have had encounters with Thai ladyboys.

In fact, I’ve even sat down with a few Ladyboys and have discussed this face to face.  And their response is always the same, they just laugh and feel no shame for what they do.

Now is this true for all ladyboys in Thailand?  No, not all.  But this is true for such a vast majority that you should NEVER let a ladyboy enter your room.

If you want to fuck a ladyboy, go to one of the Ladyboy GoGo clubs in Nana Plaza (Obsessions, Casanova, Cascade, etc..”  or use a legit ladyboy escort agency in Bangkok.  But don’t touch freelance ladyboys that you meet on the street or in the club.  It isn’t fucking worth it.

Great question.  In fact, I was discussing this same topic with my buddy a couple weeks ago.

Anal sex in Thailand is kind of a mystery.  Whenever you ask a girl if she likes it, the response will always be the same:

Personally, I enjoy ending my trip in Bangkok. You can do a little shopping and the women in Bangkok are second to none. (Except maybe Pattaya…if you don’t mind “working” girls.)

2- Fly to Phuket. Stay there a couple of days. The main hot spot is Patpong Road. Try to stay near there or in a nice hotel along the beach.

3- Visit Koh Phi Phi Don. This place is beautiful. No Thai girls around, but a good selection of tourist girls and awesome adventure activities.

4- Go to Koh Samui a few days before the Full Moon Party. Samui is one of my favorite places. Stay in the city Chaweng near Ark Bar.

5- One day before the Full Moon Party, go to Koh Phangan (if you can get a hotel). This is a 20 minute boat ride from Samui.

(I prefer to go to the Full Moon party the night it is happening. It’s only a 20 minute boat ride from Samui. For 20 dollars you can get a two way ticket and leave the party as late as 6:00am.)

6- If you’re interested in Scuba Diving, go to Koh Tao. A lot of fun and they have some nice bars full of foreign women. I got my open water certification done at Ban’s.

7- Pattaya time. This place is heaven if you love hot Thai girls and don’t mind paying.

8- End it in Bangkok

Hold her hand as soon as possible
Hug her as soon as possible
Grind her as you dance as soon as possible
Kiss her as soon as possible
etc…

“Push the interaction physically as far as you can until she says no or you sleep with her”

But among Thai people.  That isn’t how they do it.  You will rarely see Thai people kiss in public or at a club.  That is a sign of acting “low class”.

Take her hand, but don’t try to grind her with your dick or make out with her.  This will instantly turn off most “good girls”.

Be talkative.  Be playful.  Hold hands as the night goes on.

But do nothing more.  Then as the night closes, lead her from the nightclub to the taxi and then to your hotel room.

Then in private you can start kissing and playing with her.

Rule #1 Do NOT Try To Kiss Her At the Club

I’m serious. Some of the high-society girls I met told me that they would never date a guy with dark skin because their parents would kick them out of the family.

Another reason why high-society girls are usually whiter than low class girls is because of their origin. Most of the poor Thai girls, including bargirls, come from an area called Isan, which is the poorest part of Thailand. The people from this area are usually very dark skinned, at least when you compare them with people from Bangkok.

In addition to that, high-society girls don’t have to work outside and have more money for whitening beauty products.

The Way they Dress

Even though Thailand is one of the major sex tourist hotspots on this planet, it’s a country that has a very conservative culture. Why is Mixx Club Awesome?

Mixx is hands down the best late night club in Bangkok and you should not be coming here before 2am. But after 2am on certain nights, this place is FUCKING AMAZING!

It will have the hottest freelancers and the hottest good girls found anywhere in Bangkok after 2am.

Mixx has two different dance areas with two different DJs: Hip Hop and House. And each side attracts different types of girls.

Although spiders don’t really bother me, I do have some friends who are deathly afraid of spiders to the extent that they will run out of their house and refuse to enter again until they have proof that the spider is gone. So arachnophobia is nothing new to me.

Advice about Spiders in Thailand:

1- This will be less of an issue in larger cities like Bangkok than it will be in places like Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.

2- Personally, in over three year, I’ve only seen 3 large spiders in my apartments. All three were not poisonous and easy to trap and kill.

3- I tend to stay in “nicer” and more expensive places than the typical backpacker tourist will. Which means, “nicer” places in Thailand have a lower rate of insect and critter problems.

Anyways, not much to be said on this topic. Is it possible that you may encounter a spider or two while being in Thailand? Yes.

But is that possibility really enough to keep you from visiting Thailand???

Only you can answer that question, however I would hope the answer is no.

1- Table Location is Everything

Because you won’t have multiple trips to the bar, you will be at your table all night so you don’t want to be in the back corridor, wedged between the toilets and the fire exit. A table with lots of other tables around ensures lots of chances to mingle. Get there early, reserve or give a tip.

Get a table near other tables with girls. A lot of the time, when you are partying in Bangkok the girls you meet will be the ones with tables right next to you.

2- Dress Up

There are many high-end clubs where stern-faced bouncers won’t let you in if you are in your backpacking gear. Don’t show up to a club wearing shorts and flip flps.

3- Bottle Service is Standard

Waiting to get served at the bar is only for Westerners. In Thailand, you get a bottle, a bucket of ice and some mixers at your table. No more “I’m just going to the bar. You want a drink?”

4- Be Uncomfortable

Don’t travel to the other side of the world just to go to Irish pubs. Yes you can find the food, drink and music that you know well, but why not have some different experiences? Travel will change you and open your mind to the extent that you feel uncomfortable.

5- Pay The “Farang” Tax

Thai’s will often get in the club for free while foreigners will have to pay cover. Don’t make a scene about this or you look even more like a loud, obnoxious foreigner.

This is just an extra “tax” for being a foreigner. Illegal in most countries, but expected in Thailand. Foreigners pay more.
