Hi and welcome to my Go Eco Friendly blog. I started this blog on my sister's birthday (August 29, 2009) because I am a average person that is extremely interested in eco-friendly sustainable products and going green in my everyday life. The intent here is to spread my limited knowledge, leads, articles and assets and share them with my reader's and for my reader's to spread their knowledge, leads and assets to everyone reading this blog. So, if you are visiting my blog and you are interested in any aspect of going green in your life, I encourage you to post your comments for the benefit of everyone following this blog. I am alway's glad to collaberate with anyone who share's a common interest and I look forward to your views and follow.

If you've noticed what I said above, I mentioned that I am a average guy that has limited knowledge about going green or being Eco-friendly. But I am very interested in knowing more and implementing green habits in my life and in return spreading my knowledge to the world, that I can have a positive impact on others and this world. This blog is dedicated to all the responsible people in this world who are making a difference everyday by living their lives by the green standards. If you happen to stumble upon my blog, and you are one of those people I mentioned, I sure would appreciate your comments and links for the benefit of others that visit this blog.

O.k. now I would like to run down some basic's, or what I consider the basics in going green and helping out our environment. My list is going to be incomplete, so by all mean feel free to add as many as you wish to the list for everyone's benefit.

Going Green starts at home!

If your not already doing it, you should recycle your trash. Call your trash collection company to see if they offer containers for you to use, so that you can separate your recyclables. It's very simple to recycle your trash, just separate your cardboard, paper, plastic, glass and put them in the approved containers for weekly pickup. Also, think about composting your food scaps. I will cover this in another blog post, so please come back for the read.

Monitor your homes energy output daily and on a monthly basis, become energy conscious. Turn off all unnecessary lights in your house if you don't need them on. Replace all your incandescent lights bulbs with new fluorescent low wattage bulbs. Yes, everyone has seen them and yes, they do cost more, but they last longer and are extremely cheaper to operate. Check the age of all your appliances i.e. dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, microwave, washer, dryer, hot water heater and HVAC. If they are more then 10 years old, chances are, they may be consuming most of your energy costs. You can cut down those costs by replacing all dated appliances with new energy star rated appliances that are more economical which will in turn help the environment and save you a lot of money.

So, I think this is a great start for this blog post. And like I mentioned earlier, I am not an expert on this subject, but I would like to learn and grow with my research and blog posts and hopefully help others in the process. Thanks for reading.
