Pirate Themed Party

Brooxs' 3rd Birthday, December 2011

Right before the holidays, we designed another one of very fun themed parties. This time it was 3rd Pirate Birthday. There was tons of little details that we designed for it. Sweets table was one of the larger focal points in the room. We had pirate cupcakes and cookies, chocolate gold coins, candies that were pirate's color palette. Another large focal point in the room was the set up of the table where all the kids were sitting. We had two pretty large ship centerpieces in the middle of the table and a lot of little additional elements that were decorating it. Each place setting was set up with black chargers, pirate hats and baggies with treasure map. We designed each treasure map for kids and that was a fun entertainment for them. Parents walked it with kids, where they were finding little rewards along the way. Entire event took place in Gold Fish Swim School in Farmington Hills. Kids got even huge blow-up plastic swards that they went to the pool with. Our clients, Brooxs' parents Niccole and Jay, were wonderful coming up with ideas as well as managing all the kids during the party. Niccole is always great with making sure that both of her kids have memorable events. If some of you remember, few months ago we designed for Brooxs' sister Bella, a very fun Lady Bug 1st Birthday. Elegant red and black fall wedding.

Brandie & Joe, November 2011

Our end of the year was so busy that it was difficult for me to get caught up with all the blogging. Here is my little catch up!

One of the most unusual weddings that we have done this season was Brandie and Joe's wedding that took place in Cherry Creek Golf Course. With a beautiful elegant setting and one of a kind personality of our bride and groom we couldn't design something expected. The combination of red, black and white transformed completely entire room. We had two different table settings. We had black manzanita branches with red accents on red linens with black chair covers. And on every other table we had full red rose centerpieces on black linens with white chair covers. Those two table designs together gave a visual interest to over 30 tables set up in the room. We designed our own table numbers as well as we had a lot of fun little details such as red candles and crystals that added extra charm to the room. To add some spunk into our elegant look we used in moderation, fun polka-dot-patterned elements. Our bride and groom looked absolutely stunning.

2012 Wedding Trend Colors

2012 is here!

We have been planning 2012 weddings for quite some time already. I have done a little research, and what did I find out? In all of our estimates that we created for our 2012 clients some colors stood out more than others. Below is a list of colors that I noticed are trendy for this year. Lots of purples and deeper shades complimented by pale and lighter warmer colors.

Vibrant Purple Fall Wedding.

Monica & Pat, October 2011

It is difficult not to be inspired by fall when you have a fall wedding in Michigan. Colors are just plenty to work with, they are romantic and always elegant. For those brides that don't like to be exactly traditional but still want a touch of fall, purple is the way to go. Monica and Pat wanted a more unique wedding that was fall inspired but wasn't exactly expected. That's why we designed arrangements for them that were very vibrant. To make our centerpieces pop we had entire room covered in champagne satin linens. Our purple candles, when the lights were dimmed gave a nice purple glow on all the tables. Orange and purple LED lighting was provided by a DJ and it added just a bit of accent. We decorated the ceiling with our fabric drop. Entire wedding was beautiful and Monica and Pat really lucked out on a gorgeous fall weather. I am extremely excited to see photos that Mishelle Lamarand took (probably as excited as Monica and Pat is!) Good luck to both of you!

Michigan Fall Wedding

Nancy & Karl, October 2011

I love fall weddings. Especially, here in Michigan our fall is spectacular. All the changing colors of trees are a true inspiration. For Nancy and Karl we really wanted to bring those colors into their hall. Nancy brought me few months ago samples of colors that she liked. Chocolate brown, burgundy, orange were our primary color palette for flowers. Reception was in the American Polish Cultural Center and because of the dark wood everywhere we really wanted to brighten up entire hall by using a lot of champagne in linens and chair covers. We had some accent up lighting in amber shade to warm up the walls and bring some of the details of the wood out. We also had set up a really elaborate cocktail hour section as well as a delicious sweets table by Flower to Flour bakery that was made out of 5 tables! A nice touch of fall, were small wine bottles that Nancy and Karl gave away as their favors. It was a beautiful wedding that looked extremely fun. Nancy and Karl were super sweet and I loved working with them. Happy married life to both of you!

Purple Anemone: Kara's Bridal Bouquet

Every bridal bouquet I design we put a lot of love into it. We always pick the top shelf flowers and do our best to make them original to fit style of the wedding. (Not to mention that we package them safely and keep them well hydrated). Few weeks ago we designed this featured Anemone bridal bouquet for our bride. She knew she wanted a mix of purples with a touch of white. As you can see, we used plenty of flowers and shades to get this rich and full effect but our Anemones were the gems of it all. Those beautiful flowers are pretty tricky to work with just because they are really delicate and they don't come in many colors. (They are also not the cheapest option). I was really happy we got to use them one more time before the end of this season. Who else is a fan and really wants an Anemone bridal bouquet?

I have been posting recently quite a few weddings that we have been planning and designing but I noticed I am slacking on very important inspiration and tips section. I really hoped on growing this part of our blog over past few months. So I refuse to give up and will continue on trying! When I came across this wonderful set up of a traditional dinner table I figured all of us could use a little reminder and would benefit from seeing this before the next event we plan or attend. When I was a little girl my grandma actually tutored me in everything that you see below so when I saw this it really touched me and reminded me how important it is in an event design to properly know table set up and properly know how to behave at the dinner table. I hope you can enjoy this little guide to dining as much as I do!

Polish Summer Wedding.

Benia & Roman, September 2011

One of our last summer weddings that we have done this year was Benia and Roman's wedding. It was a very traditional Polish wedding that had over 320 guests. Benia knew from the beginning she wanted her wedding purple so we concentrated on bringing a lot of purple shades in our flowers. The reception as well as the wedding, took place in Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Sterling Heights. Benia and her family really stepped up and helped in decorating quite a bit. They set up a wonderful sweets table and a traditional midnight snack buffet. All of them really did a fantastic job on preparing for their big day. Romantic Princess Wedding.

Marta & Arek, August 2011

We really couldn't wait this year for Marta and Arek's wedding. Marta few years back, helped us with setting up some of our events. In that process she really did learn quite a bit about weddings. She also got plenty of inspiration and got to see what works andwhat doesn't. Direction that we received from Marta was to keep everything very elegant and romantic, with the use of soft blush and champagne colors. After looking at Marta's (gorgeous) gown I knew that everything that we will do, will have to have some glamour in it. I wanted a heavy look with a delicate twist. I even personally gave direction on color and style of bridesmaids dresses! (This never happens). Wedding ceremony took place in the Polish church, Our Lady of Czestochowa. Reception followed after in American Polish Cultural Center. Our champagne textured linens and ivory chair covers really brightened the dark hall thatthe event was in. We also had LED lighting set up around the room to add extra warmth . Behind the head table we had fabric with our wonderful couple's initials and florals. Marta and Arek had a large bridal party so we decided to split the head table into two tears. It became more visually appealing. We had many details designed especially for Marta. Our table numbers, door welcoming signs, cake label were all custom made with crystals and pearl papers. Documenting entire wedding day was Marek Dziekonski, as always he outdone himself with capturing everything perfectly. The best part of Marta and Arek's wedding was that we actually gotto attend it as guests. Everything looked absolutely stunning once it was finished and filled with guests. Our couple looked amazing. In the end Marta concluded that everything looked exactly the way she imagined it. (I never get sick of hearing that!) Congratulations and good luck to both of you!

Bridal Bouquet: Royal blue accent.

There aren't many flowers that come in royal blue color. Frankly, there aren't many flowers that are blue at all. Sometimes it is nice just to add your unique color as an accent. Keep majority of the bridal bouquet white and then pick one or two flowers to keep it in your color palette. Below is one of bridal bouquets we have done for one of our brides last year. Our bride really loved white calla lilies so we added quite a few of them in there. We also had white roses and white spray roses. Our accent of the blue, were the blue corn flowers and royal blue delphinium.

Vintage Inspired Wedding

Brittany & Chris, July 2011

This summer has been simply wonderful. We had so far many wonderful clients and we are extremely excited to be creating more unique and elaborate events. I especially appreciate, how detail oriented our brides get. Brittany, was one of those brides that really concentrated on a lot of details. It was wonderful to work with her and her mother on completing their vision. Vintage table numbers and guests seating cards are fully their team work. We had a very unique color combination to work with. Burnt orange/deep coral isn't one of those colors that is often seen in weddings. To complement we picked few additional colors to complete the look. We chose gold chavari chairs and champagne table linens. On tables we had burnt orange satin napkins that added contrast to the tables. We used our new vintage iron stand for half of the arrangements. Low arrangements were set up on the other half of the tables. As you can tell on the photos we had LED lighting that we carefully set up to match our color combination. When we were done setting up everything looked extremely warm and inviting. We were excited for Brittany and Chris to enjoy their fully dressed up ballroom in the Dearborn Inn. Now we can't wait to see their professional photos. Congratulations to both of you, you looked beautiful.

Little, charming wedding in Clarkstone

Tami & Gino, July 2011

This was one of the cutest wedding we had in a long time. Tami and Gino only invited 70 exclusive guests to join them on their special day. They wanted a small and very intimate wedding party. Both ceremony and the reception took place in Shepard's Hallow Golf Club in Clarkstone. If you never had a pleasure of visiting their venue, it is truly romantic. In the middle of woods, quiet and very country-like. For thereception instead of traditional round tables we had long rectangular tables that made it easy for everyone to talk to one another. We had long centerpieces in the middle of the tables to complement their shape. Tami picked out her colors (so we can't take full credit for it) but we did help balancing all the hues together. We had champagne linens, gold chavari chairs, gold chargers, brown satin napkins, gold containers for our flowers and majority of color was in our floral centerpieces. We designed a lot of unique pieces for this reception. We had a welcome sign outside, front door piece, floral arrangement for one of the angel sculptures, floral arrangement for a small chair provided by our client. There was a spectacular candy bar and seating card table that featured all the guest name cards on tiny gold iron chairs. (Super cute!) It was a beautiful day and Tami and Gino's wedding was a perfect balance between casual, yet very elegant. We were extremely happy to be part of their wedding day. Congratulations Tami & Gino!

Summer Wedding in Rochester Hills

Summer in Michigan is really beautiful and it was wonderful of our bride and groom to take a chance and do their ceremony outside at the River Crest. The colors we worked with were tiffany blue, champagne and brown. For variety we added a hint of lime green. Outdoor we designed a simple decor for the arch. Entire rope of flowers that you see below is all made out of many fresh flowers. In the wind out white fabric really looked amazingly romantic. The aisle we decorated with more fabric and floral pieces that highlighted arranged rows of chairs. For the inside of the hall we really wanted to bring in more tiffany blue. Our linens gave us a lot of color. We had champagne chair covers with tiffany blue sashes. Our centerpieces were made out of few separate containers with flowers, LEDs and floating candles. They were simple yet really dressed up tables and looked charming. Favors that Kim made were in brown boxes that added that extra touch of brown. Some of the tables were round and some were oval, which made a really nice and different combination to work with. One of the photos below is also showing Holiday Market's wedding cake, which looked stunning as always. Kim's bridal bouquet was really unique and I can't wait to show you what it looked like, but it will be featured on another post because that's what it deserves! Kim and Kenneth, you both looked gorgeous, good luck to you and congratulations from everyone in our team.

Classy Summer Wedding: Refreshingly Orange

We have done quite a bit of our planning with our bride Amy and her family over long distance. Living in Florida and planning a Michigan wedding can become really difficult being so many miles away, yet we had a lot of fun working with each other. Amy was so organized and had such a wonderful sense of style that it made work on our part a lot easier. Our goal was to keep their reception in American Polish Cultural Center, classy yet vibrant and cheerful. We had low centerpieces with branches and oranges that brightened up all the tables. All the linens were champagne which gave us a very soft look that fit the hall very well. Instead of traditional head table, Amy and Neil had a captains table. Amy did a wonderful job designing all the details such as; table numbers, menus, favors, seating charts. For late night snack Amy requested to have a little bit of Polish traditional food so there were Paczki and Chrusciki for every guest to try. It was a beautiful day, beautiful family, gorgeous looking couple. Everything was just great. Best wishes Amy and Neil, enjoy your life together!

White Bridal Bouquets

Recently, we have been designing quite a bit of white bridal bouquets. In past years there was a little bit more variety and majority of brides actually chose to carry colored bouquets since they stood out from their gowns. This year it is visibly different. White or off-white bouquets became really popular. They are nice because they are very delicate. On photos, they look soft and really don't take away focus from the gown or the bride. (I personally grew on them also). There are quite a bit of flowers out there that are white. But 100% white flowers that are extremely white, are rare. Usually, most flowers are actually ivory. You can see below how different shades of white flowers photograph. Even if you put two roses side by side that seem at first white, on photos they will often look different. With unique shapes of flowers and variety of shades in the same family, we create different textures and looks that complete the gown and the look of each bride. If you are set to have a white bridal bouquet make sure when talking to your florist you specify how white you really want your bridal bouquet to be.

TIffany blue & pink: Sweet looking wedding.

I was thrilled once I found out we will be working with Angie on her wedding!In 2009 we have done her sister's wedding which was a lot of fun, so working with Angie and her family again was just a joy. Angie knew from the beginning she wanted blue and pink combination for her wedding. First we were eye balling the blue shade of the bridesmaids dresses, later when we got to see the actual dress we realized that the blue color is a lot closer to the tiffany than we expected it to be. Our tiffany blue linens matched it perfectly. Our table arrangements weren't big but they gave a nice amount of color that balanced all the blue in the room. In Monte Carlo, where reception took place, we also had pipe and drapebehind the head table and our ceiling fabric drop to accent the dance floor. For favors Angie and Scott came up with a neat idea of creating original cooking spice mix because both of them enjoy cooking. We helped Angie tweak her design a bit so it would fit her color scheme better. The wedding ceremony took place in St. John Vianney Church in Shelby Township where we had also set up alter arrangements, unity candle piece and pew decor. Angie and Scott looked gorgeous, they are leaving tomorrow for their honeymoon. We wish them all the best and lots of sun!

Tulip Love

Marta's Bridal Shower, June 2011

I am extremely happy that our bride to be, Marta chose yellow as one of her colors for her bridal shower. Not only yellow is vibrant and happy but also there are quite a few flowers that are available in that color. Both of us shared the same vision for her event. We wanted to pull off a look that was elegant, romantic yet still cheerful and fun. Light greens and whites that we used in our linens gave us the romantic look we were looking for. Unique centerpiece design and bright yellow tulips, energized the room in a fun way. We wanted something simple because we will go all out for Marta's wedding in August (can't wait). Little details that we worked on were: over sized sweets table, Bailey's favors, seating chart design, cake florals and Martha's corsage. We were thrilled to help Marta complete her bridal shower vision and we can't wait till August!

Purple Delight

Last week, I have helped our dear friends Angie and Dave in decorating their mom's surprise retirement event. To make things easier, we decided to go with purple and lavender shades because those were their mom's favorite colors. We created low arrangements for all the tables. We had satin runners and deep purple candles. Purple LED lighting gave the room nice vibrant and warm feel. We made our decisions quickly and everything came together very well. (This is what happens when you work with a group of professionals!)

Antique Engagement Rings

When I found an online store by Erica Weiner I was truly in heaven. This isn't your typical jewelry store in your neighborhood. In there you will be able to find something that probably nobody else has. These engagement rings will make you think twice before getting Tiffany Co. The rings are valued at good prices and for sure they showcase the work that the artist put into creating it. I am usually a fan of modern and slick designs but these rings do make me feel really happy. They are little, precious pieces that are just timeless. You have to check Erica's page on daily basis because the rings on there change every day. A lot of them sold quickly because they are so uniquely beautiful. I am checking her website once a while and I am tempted to get a ring from there just for fun. Would you consider actually wearing an antique engagement ring?

Boy's Communion in Green.

Decorating events for boys is always more challenging. Boys don't like anything overly floral. We see a lot of blue Communions and Christenings which are nice but they became with time very traditional. If you are looking for something more unique, variety shades of greens seem to be an interesting and neutral combination for a lot of events. For spring especially, greens are just perfect. With Evan's mom we were bouncing off ideas and we finally decided to go with greens. We wanted to keep everything simple and clean. We kept table linens white, chair covers shimmery olive green and flowers were a mix of whites and greens. Very fit for a Communion, we decided to create simple low arrangements with candles. Evan's Communion event took place in The San Marino Club which has nice, high ceilings. For that reason on every other table we created tall modern arrangements that filled up the room quite nicely. We had a a really good time helping out Evan and his family and we were excited to make his special day just a bit more colorful. Congratulations to Evan and his family!

A little girl's dream: Communion in pink!

Victoria, May 2011

When you are a little girl Communion is the biggest day you are looking forward. Victoria's parents really let her pick anything she wished for her Communion knowing that the memory of it will stay with her forever. Victoria wished for pink and white color combination. Tall centerpieces with spring flowers. She even knew how she wanted her napkins folded on all the tables. (How cute!) We were really happy to bring everything to life for her and her family. Victoria's mom had requested for the centerpieces to be unique and not something that you would see normally done for a wedding. We decided to take head wreath as an inspiration and created circular centerpieces that floated in the air. Victoria had a great day and even through she was exhausted she still smiled on all of her photos!

Tiffany Blue Spring Wedding

Spring comes in many colors. Pink and green weddings are a bit more popular during spring season but the above combination is anything bout usual. In the past few years we have actually seen more and more tiffany blue wedding and I must say they are growing on me. This particular color combination that Sarah picked was really wonderful not only for spring but for any season. In the Stefan's Banquet Hall we had tiffany blue linens, champagne chair covers with tiffany blue sashes. Flowers were a nice spring mix with white tulips and tiffany blue orchids that added a little bit of purple accent. The LED lighting changed colors throughout the night and added a lot more energy to the room. This wedding was a complete make over! Sarah and Robert were really surprised that decorations can really change the venue so much. I wish all of you could've been there because it really looked great when it was all completely set up. Spring Wedding with Cherry Blossoms

This was a real spring wedding! For the past few months we worked with Natalia and Yuri on designing their dream wedding day. For their reception, as requested, there was lots of pink and quite a bit of blooming cherry branches. We tried keeping everything very airy and princess-like because of the spring season and how elegant our clients wanted everything to be. We had pink floor lighting and pin spots on all the arrangements. Blooming branch-theme was incorporated into the cake design baked by Militello's Bakery and some of the details as table numbers that we designed. Reception took place in Macedonian Cultural Center in Sterling Heights. To complete the romantic spring feel, our bride and groom decided to go with sweetheart tabled instead of the traditional head table. It really worked well and it made the evening even more special for them. Since it was a true Russian wedding, you can see an amazing amount of food being set up on all the tables. The smell was teasing us for entire time we were setting up. Natalia and Yuri had a great day and we wish them even better lifetime together!

5 Last minute tips for your wedding day.

1. Clean your rings!

Those close up shots of your ring and wedding bands will require extra sparkle.

Also a lot of guests during your wedding will want to see your rocks.

2. Get an extra set of shoes.

This one is pretty important. No matter how comfortable your current wedding shoes are. Make sure you pack an extra pair for the photos and reception. In park you might need to walk long distances and your feet might get tired. After midnight anything goes and it is better to have shoes on, than walk around barefoot.

3. Pick up an umbrella.

No matter if it will be sunny or raining, it might be helpful. It always looks cute on the photos and in case of rain it will save you. You can check the weather ahead but if there is any chance for rain at all, you are better off just grabbing one - just in case. (Below photo is taken from a wedding we did this past October, it was a rainy day but it was extremely romantic.)

4. Get snacks and water for your limo. (If you have one)

Nobody has time to eat during your wedding day. Often in the limo it is the only down time you will have that day. Guys get always cranky when they are hungry, so this one is a must in my book. Especially, if you are having your photos taken outdoor in the middle of summer. Those bottles of water will come in more handy than beer.

5. Get a good night sleep!

You need your beauty rest. I know it will be tough falling asleep your last night as a single lady but you will feel a lot better on your wedding day. It is a long day and you will be exhausted by the time everything ends.
