#7.Psychedelic Jungle - the Cramps
released:1981

this record has it all, you've got the man himself Lux Interior handling all of the growls, hoots & hollers, Poison Ivy doing away with your ears on her screeching guitar and Kid Congo Powers laying waste to your gray matter with his classic style of guitar playing, Nick Knox banging away like a madman thumping his victims, while keeping the beat of course; all while you travel through the wires looking for your way out. i can't begin to explain why this is my favorite Cramps albums, mainly because i haven't the words or talent, but hell i'll try. the first half feels like i've been given this tab of acid created in the deep reaches of space, it's been through the atmosphere and landed in the jungles of the Amazon where it was found by these freaks and brought to me. upon dropping it, i'm sent into this world nobody can imagine with the dead dancing around me, a violent washed up wrestling hero, and a slime beast searching for oral sex, to name a few of the monstrosities. when suddenly i hit the peak, i'm on the other side by now and a voice instructs me to not eat what i find on the floor, naturally i don't listen and lose my mind. i make my way out of the clouds and i find myself in the middle of a jungle where there are dances and the trading of things i've never seen before. finally, i'm out of that steamy jungle and walking in the shadows, fearing for my life. for with every turn, there is a danger. i start to wonder if there is anything wrong with me, i've floated away with reality. the green door opens and i'm home.

#8.Closer - Joy Division
released:1980

when those tribal drumbeats kick in & Ian Curtis directs me into his house of despair, i am already immersed in this album. this all happens within the first song and to me, that is what makes this a classic record. a staple in the post-punk scene; it containing some of the group's well known hits (Isolation, Heart & Soul & Twenty-Four Hours) along with my favorite Joy Division song A Means To An End. while listening to this i can't help but feel helpless and directly connected to Ian's words. in them i hear my pain, my shame & my fear. i cannot say more than what has already been said before me.

#9.Music For Pleasure - the Damned
released: 1977

one of my favorite Damned albums, i first experienced it on a cassette that was missing the last two songs because of a bad dub but hot damn did i enjoy what i had. it wasn't until the folks over at Digital Meltdown brought it back into my life with a real nice piece on it. a lot of my favorite Damned songs are on this record: 'Politics', 'Your Eyes', 'Cry Wolf' & 'You Know', not to mention the stand out tracks that are good regardless of what i think of them: 'Stretcher Case', 'One Way Love' & 'Problem Child' for example. there a many folks that would say the Damned have had some hits & misses throughout their career, but i can't really agree. while they may have dropped their 'punk' roots and moved into darker territory, i feel they still put the same amount of talent into everything they've done since their debut. well, except for Grave Disorder but i can excuse that.

i have decided to do a top 10 series.
i'm going to start with my ten favorite punk albums then move on to psychobilly & hip hop.
now then, the genre of punk spreads out all over the map of sub-genres, these are going to be included in my list, so make note of it. i really don't know why i feel i have to explain myself to you.
you could give a shit less, so why bother? i guess it helps me sleep.
onto album number 10.

As The Eternal Cowboy - Against Me! (anarcho)
Released: 2003

the statement made at the beginning of the album is very clear, 'the party's over/a CD skipping/it's the same hook repeating/grows more grating with every passing second', the fun is gone but not forgotten. i remember when this was passed onto me, i didn't know what to expect, i had heard of AM! before but wasn't much of a fan yet as soon as i heard 'Mutiny on The Electronic Bay' with my favorite line 'when an invasion can bring a country its freedom then unconsciousness is true happiness' i knew i was getting into something much more than i thought. aside from the fact that it is much more 'clean' than their previous releases and it lacks the anger that was very present in their demos & first album, Eternal Cowboy will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my favorite Against Me! albums.

Los Angeles - X (punk)
from start to finish this rip roarin' adventure of an album socks it to ya raw. weird thing is, i had never experienced this entire album before this past month. believe it readers. i had heard wild gift & other albums BEFORE this one and i really do not know why. i can listen to this one from top to bottom without skipping a single track, which in my book makes a perfect album. organ duties are handled by the master himself Ray Manzarek which only adds onto the sheer beauty of this record. speaking of the Doors make sure to listen to their cover of 'Soul Kitchen'.

Smell of Female - the Cramps (rock 'n roll/live)
like i have said before, i am not big on live records, i honestly can't answer why seeing as how i really enjoy a lot of live albums. but this, this is something more, it is a glimpse into the greatness that is the Cramps. i'm sure you're all well aware of what an entity the Cramps were onstage, but now you can experience it. recorded in 1983 at the world famous Peppermint Lounge over the course of two days, we have a perfect moment in time captured forever for everyone to enjoy whenever the hell they want. Congo Powers & Ivy shine ever so brightly on their guitars, Knox as always bangs the shit out of his drum skins and Mr.Interior howls like no other. experience greatness at it's finest. plus, you get Surfin' Dead.

Girls In The Garage vol.1 - Various Artists (garage)
a perfect compilation of chicks making some raw tracks. it is chock full of hits and interesting bits from a slew of girl fronted groups. most of the songs are from what seems to be the mid to late 60's, seeing as how there are some references to the Fab Four. a lot of gems are hidden in this comp and you're going to have to find them yourselves. i'll let you in on two of my favorites: 'Nightmare' by the Whyte Boots and 'Come Back' by the Belles. happy hunting.

Bedtime for Democracy - Dead Kennedys (hardcore punk)
i feel this classic album is underrated, the kids i know that were introduced to DK through Fresh Fruit tend to avoid Frankenchrist & this one here, i honestly do not know why. in fact, my first taste of Jello & co. was with this record. i remember the guy that let me borrow his copy told me that he liked the first half only, he said that the rest was too preachy. i took it home and listened to it over & over again, after each listen i could not find anything remotely preachy. with that, i decided to close my mind and become an ignorant shithead, when i hit 'Chickenshit Conformist' i realized that is what made him call the album preachy. i kept his copy. he forgot, grew up and moved away, i wish he still lived here so i could punch him in his stupid face.

Moon Gas - Dick Hyman & Mary Mayo (space age pop/lounge)
spacey as fuck but hot damn is this one of the best records i've heard in a long time. this album was brought to my attention by a mixtape Lux Interior made that somehow got onto the internet, the song For All We Know was played at his funeral and i felt that it was a fitting farewell song. anyway, Dick Hyman as you may or may not know is a famed jazz musician and has gone through a number of transformations, musically anyhow. Mary Mayo on the other hand is probably only well-known to die hard fans of space pop, seeing as how she has gone uncredited on several of her releases, but you might remember her from the coke ads in the 80's, i sure as hell don't. well i can't find this album anywhere else really, so i figured i'd add my chip to the plate.

A Scandal In Bohemia - the Jazz Butcher (music)
i first heard these fellas on a psychobilly comp, an unlikely place to find a group such as this but i am glad i did. although i will admit there seem to be some rockabilly influences here & there, though not enough zombies (that could be funny, but it isn't). what i love most about this group is the way they handle multiple genres of music and twist them into a wonderful beast of a sound. the leader of the band Pat Fish is a brilliant dude that has a swell way with black humor, 'Caroline Wheeler's Birthday Present' is a fine example, with the lines ''Caroline Wheeler's birthday present was made entirely of the skins of dead Jim Morrisons''. i got a chuckle out of that one, maybe you will too..

this is the beginning of the end, the end of boring music and the rebirth of rock 'n roll. the second you hear that raunchy guitar intro, you will know that this is nothing you have ever experienced in your pitiful life. from it's autobiography of a mutant fly to the sorrowful cover of Mr.Nelson's Lonesome Town, this debut EP is a staple in music history.

In Sickness & In Health - Demented Are Go (psychobilly)
one of the first psychobilly bands i was introduced to. i can remember hearing them for the first time and being blown away, they were something wicked & my mind wasn't prepared for them. sparky crawled into my brain and had his disgusting way with it, leaving me a sick spazmoid; to this day i still don't mind and gladly let him run wild in my gray matter. another fine debut album.

Greatest Hits - Lighter Shade of Brown (hip hop)
i was a kid when i met these fellas and from what i remember they were nice dudes, then again i used to act like Godzilla every time i was in a japanese restaurant (which wasn't often, but believe you me every chance i was around any person of asian descent, i would be roaring like a motherfucker). back to the music, this is a fine example of 'chicano rap', i hate the term but it's what the kids called it then. it's a greatest hits compilation so you can expect to not be too disappointed by this.

Philosophy of the World - the Shaggs (outsider sunshine pop)
these gals have been hailed as the pioneers of outsider rock and i completely agree. i will admit it took me a few listens to truly find their genius, seeing as how it didn't follow my 'groove' for music. it took what i thought was right and chewed it up and spit it back in my mouth; the taste was amazing. i can think of a few people that i could show this group to and because they're full of shit, they would be repulsed by this band and shun them. if you're open minded and have an ear for music, you'll look past their idiosyncratic sound & find the real band hidden within.

Debasement Tapes - 45 Grave (death rock)
a slew of demos & live tracks, it is a definite must-have for fans of la tomba 45 & death rock in general. which brings me to this: does anyone have any Vox Pop recordings? all i have been able to find is their cover of Paint It Black and i really want to hear more. if anyone knows anywhere i can find it, please pass along the information.

Jack The Ripper - Link Wray & his Ray Men (surf/instrumental)
one of the kings of guitar. a very influential dude indeed, Link & his Ray Men certainly did a number to the surf rock scene, hell, overall music. his influence is widespread; from teenage garage trash to graveyard rockin' psychobilly, Link Wray is the man and always will be.

Neil Young - Tonight's The Night

The second album in Young's The Ditch Trilogy, although released third, this was recorded 2nd, (first being last weeks Time Fades Away, and the final On The Beach) Continuing with the Live album format, Young cruises down the lonesome road, dealing with death and drug use. Tonight's The Night, see Young at possibly his most darkest hour, singing despondently over the piano and playing over loose, rock blues rhythms. The band was going through much internal turmoil, and Young himself has been noted as being intoxicated throughout most of the tour. In an interview he once said of this album that it was the closet he'd ever come to making art. This is not your Dad's Neil Young.

Damaged - Black Flag (punk/hardcore)
i have finally experienced Black Flag, before all i had truly heard was the Nervous Breakdown EP. i wish i had the chance to listen to this while i was in high school, i am sure i would have found a way to somehow relate. it was interesting to find out that Rollins had only joined a few weeks before the recording of this album, i figured i'd share that with you. this is their first record and is considered one of their best along with being a staple from the early 80's hardcore scene.

Primary Colours - the Horrors (post-punk/shoegaze)
a drastic change from their debut album & EP, this sophomore effort shows no signs of a slump. a lot of people i know consider this change to be a bad choice, at first i was on their side and felt it was a mistake to change until i actually sat down and gave it a listen. i found that while they may not be as raucous as they once were, the direction they went is just as impressive. i am glad i had a chance to catch them live this past year, they performed a lot of songs off of this album and it was great. although i left their set early (my opinion hadn't changed yet ;P) i still had a excellent time.

All Meat No Filler - Fat Boys (hip hop)
the three stooges of early hip hop shine brightly on each track in this compilation. these dudes were about food, girls, food and...the Beach Boys? yes believe it, they cut a single with the kings of sunshine pop. i can remember watching the music video on tv as a kid and always wondering what those chubby dudes were doing with the old surfers. moving on, this is a perfect way to get yourself into them, it contains all of their finest cuts and hopefully you can find yourself eating a bit more. more of their music of course, lord knows you do NOT want to go out like Buff, bless his soul. plus you get the jam they recorded with the master of dreams himself, Freddy Krueger.

Neil Young - Time Fades Away (1973)

We are going to begin Neil Youngs "The Ditch Trilogy"

This a three album series depicting a darker, moodier, and all around despondent Young. He had recently suffered the deaths of two close friends, and inspired by their loss went down a path that took him away from his recent mainstream success, (His previous album Harvest had a #1 hit with Heart of Gold). Speaking of Harvest and the material after Young said "This song put me in the middle of the road. Travelling there soon became a bore so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I saw more interesting people there."

Time Fades Away is a live album that sees guest appearances from both David Crosby and Graham Nash. Hard to find but critically acclaimed, Time Fades Away documents a man struggling with success and death, and doing it in front of the viewing public.

i recently got into this duo, all i had heard before was the song that was playing when richie valens died. i wish i had heard everything else before, because they have much better songs. their rendition of 'Over The Rainbow' is heart wrenching, 'Tequila' is always a blast to listen to and 'Teardrop' could be considered a much better 'Sleepwalk'. there are many more songs to be heard though, so make sure to get this.

New Hope For The Wretched - Plasmatics (punk)
wendy o. williams you wonderful woman, your vocals are simply amazing and your band is just as great. this is the essential album to start with if you want to get into them i guess. i don't know.

Ultimate Collection - Arthur Alexander (r&b)
dig this guy, he was covered by the beatles and whatnot. so i guess he's influential, perhaps he could influence you and your lack of creativity.

Miami - Gun Club (raw blues rock 'n roll)
kid congo powers isn't back on this one, plus it has mother of earth on it. any female vocals can be blamed on debbie harry. they make the song about that fateful craps game that dylan & the silver apples covered worth listening to and well it's another piece of jeffrey's genius which means it should be listened to & appreciated.

s/t - Motörhead (heavy metal)
there is nothing wrong with a little bit of motörhead. this is their second album and it's great. they got some great tunes on this one, a sweet cover of 'The Train Kept A-Rollin' and a song from their previous band Hawkwind (which should have some attention as well). also, their umlaut reminds me of my girlfriend, so they get a special spot for today.

Scumdogs of the Universe - GWAR (heavy/thrash metal)
if you have ever wondered where to begin with GWAR, this is the album. sure there is one before it, but their sound changed on this one and is the sound they continued with, rather than the thrashy noise punk from the previous album. this cut also explains how they came to Earth and enslaved us all and we get a taste of our nation's favorite game show 'Slaughterama'. hopefully with this, you'll get into them and go off into the full story of GWAR's rule and adventures. one more thing, how do you hide money from a hippie?

The Evil One - Roky Erickson & the Aliens (music)
Roky Erickson's whole mentality is one that i most certainly can get along with. i have recently gotten into his work (solo & 13th Floor Elevators) after first experiencing him through the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack. released in 1981, Roky had traded in his psychedelic chops for a more heavier sound and with that he has a number of great tunes on the album: 'I Walked With A Zombie', 'Don't Shake Me Lucifer', 'I Think of Demons' and 'If You Have A Ghost', these should be listened to at least once. what i like most about this album is his lyrical content, ghouls and goblins, vampires & cosmo demons, just the type of things i really enjoy.

Ralf und Florian - Kraftwerk (electronic/krautrock)
as the title states, this album was worked on by two men, respectively named Ralf Hütter and Florian Schnider and is seemingly sought after, in the real world anyway. it is nearly an instrumental album save for a few wordless yodels on a couple of tracks and it seems it isn't as rhythmic as the albums that followed. it was released in 1973 and it is their third album, the tracks to listen for are: 'Tongebirge', 'Heimatklänge' and the epic 'Ananas Symphonie'. all in all i'd say if you already are a fan of Kraftwerk but you have yet to hear this album, get it. if not well give it a couple spins regardless, it'll grow on you.

Come On Pilgrim - Pixies (music)
instead of thinking of something interesting to say, here's my review of this album that i did for a 'zine: what starts off with a sweet riff and ends with an echo of religion & anger, Come On Pilgrim to me is an essential part of any Pixies collection, hell, any music collection. it's raw, it's beatuiful and i can't get enough of it. Frank Black's vocals are so pained on Caribou, i always get chills when he growls 'REPENT'. Mr.Black's spanish shines on both Vamos & Isla De Encanta, i especially love the line 'Nuestro propio animal canta a la gente par gratis' in Isla. Ed Is Dead has some fantastic bass playing from Kim Deal displaying those sweet bass lines she has been gracing us with for so many years with Pixies & the Breeders, also the infectious chant E-I-D at the end of the track is fun to sing along with, if you're into that kind of thing. The Holiday Song is my favorite track off of the EP, one of my all time favorite Pixies songs in fact, although i prefer the studio version. It stands out to me considering it's such a lovely story, it paints the tale of a boy who makes out with his sister, makes sweet love to her, impregnates her and they both die, by far one of the most endearing tales of incest i have ever heard. Not to be outdone, Nimrod's Son follows with it's acoustic guitar scratchin', distorted guitar riffin' chronicle of more incestous antics, my favorite line being 'You are the son of a mother fucker', sums it all up nicely don't it? I've Been Tired is a conversation Frank Black & a whore with disease, or so i'm lead to understand, the bass line is what stands out to me most, simple yet effective. Levitate Me is the end of the line for this wonderful EP, it's chorus constantly makes me laugh, 'won't you please run over me?'. In conclusion, i suggest you pick up this record whenever possible, it's a definite must-have and i hope this review will give you things to say if you're ever given the dreaded 'poser test'. adios.

Return of the Living Dead - Various Artists (punk/death rock/synthpop)
one of my favorite soundtracks from a classic film. if you've seen the movie, then with a few listens you'll be able to relieve the scenes that had the songs presented here. for example, Roky Erickson's 'Burn The Flames' is playing during Frank's suicide scene, when the punks are driving to Freddy's place of work, the Damned's 'Dead Beat Dance' is blasting out of their boombox. i feel that aside from the classic scenes & new ideas that this movie brought, the soundtrack helped make this movie what it is. if there is any soundtrack to get from me, it'd be this one.

what wonderful music that is on this compilation. i wish Lord Sutch was still with us, lucky for him he got to escape this damn blasted planet. i don't know what i can say about him that hasn't been said before, although i do feel he & Jay Hawkins ought to be recognized for their efforts in the music world. it's a shame that there are people who believe Alice Cooper & GWAR are the originators of the shock rock theatrics, when in fact it's thanks to Screamin' Jay Hawkins & Screaming Lord Sutch that we have those types of shows today. thanks go to both of the men, wherever they may be.

In Heaven - the Meteors (psychobilly)
this is one of my favorite albums of all time, i can listen to this in it's entirety without jumping tracks. it should be included in all of those lists of greatest albums and then some. released in 1981, this is the Meteors' first full-length album. after a slew of EPs & a short film, this bad boy was unleashed on the world. a product of the brilliant minds of Paul Fenech & Nigel Lewis, their destruction of the drab rockabilly world and reconstruction of music as we know it is presented here. i suggest finding a spot to sit and playing this album front to back with headphones on, expect to never be the same when it's over.

Acoustic EP - Against Me! (anarcho)
this EP is what got me into AM!, a friend had sent me a few of their songs off of this EP and i couldn't believe what i was hearing. at the time i had never heard of anything that was even remotely anarcho, let alone acoustic anarcho, i was blown away. it is a quintessential album to listen to and hopefully after your experience, you'll grow to enjoy more of AM!'s work. which is what we're all trying to do, right?

Trans Europa Express - Kraftwerk (electronic)
a classic album for hip hoppers & electronic junkies. the hip hoppers dig it 'cause of it's influence on hip hop in general, having some of the first samples (used by Afrika Bambaataa) and with that it helped jump start the Electro Hip Hop movement. released in 1977, this is Kraftwerk's sixth album and definitely one of their finest. i've read that the group went to train stations and listened to the sounds of trains to create music with, they found that it wasn't that easy to dance to, so they tweaked it to their own image thus giving the world an awesome album. it's a staple in electronic music and it revolutionized it, putting Kraftwerk on top of the game forever.

Showcase - Patsy Cline (country)
as i said yesterday, i am in love with Patsy Cline and her wonderful voice. released in 1961, this is her second full length album. like all of her other Decca releases she is backed by the Jordanaires. it has the single she is well-known for: 'Crazy', which was recorded after a car accident which she luckily survived. the tracks to listen to are: 'The Wayward Wind', 'Seven Lonely Days' and 'San Antonio Rose'.

A Lesson In Crime EP - Tokyo Police Club (post punk revival)
i remember this guy i used to sit behind in high school, big and brawny dude that wore death metal band shirts and those pants with the unnecessary pocket. well he introduced me to this group, he said they were doing something no one else was doing in the mainstream, that and he used to love getting stoned to 'Nature of the Experiment'. i wonder what happened to him. i am glad that he introduced me to these guys, had he not i wouldn't have been able to experience them at Coachella in '07.

Those Are Not My Bongos - Fuck (lo-fi/noise pop)
i rarely see this album anywhere, let alone the band itself. this is their last studio album, although i've read there was another but it has yet to be released. i hope to see it out there soon, i'm sure it is as good as their other work. this album is fantastic, once you begin with your listening session of the album, you will be sucked right in. the first track is what got me hooked, 'Motherfuckeroos' it's called, with that i didn't want to leave my seat. tracks to listen to are: 'Jazz Idiodyssey', 'Hulk Baby' and 'How To Say'

The Official Adventures of Grandmaster Flash - Grandmaster Flash (hip hop/turntablism)
let me begin by saying if you do not have this yet, you better get it now. a necessity if you are a hip hop head or anyone that is into any form of scratching & mixing. Grandmaster Flash was first and like the man says 'first is forever'. i remember hearing this when i was a kid, my pop had it on cassette and i remember he could 'cover' The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel, i am sure he still can. this essential compilation of all of GMF's exploits is something out of another dimension, to this day it still can get a party jumpin'.

Two of Us - Yarbrough & Peoples (funk/r&b)
straight outta dallas, texas comes Yarbrough & Peoples and they bring some funk with 'em. this album has their biggest hit 'Don't Stop The Music' and it doesn't stop there, it contains some real gems such as 'Want You Back Again', 'Third Degree' and 'I Believe I'm Falling In Love'. i have yet to find any of their other albums so if you have any of them, send a link my way.

s/t [the blue album] - Adolescents (punk)
orange county's own brand of punk, here is the Adolescents' debut album from 1981. i've read somewhere it is the second best selling californian punk record trailing behind DK's Fresh Fruit. it contains the hits 'Amoeba', 'I Hate Kids', 'LA Girl' and 'Creatures'. a classic album that should be in every music collection.

Sentimentally Yours - Patsy Cline (country)
i have fallen in love so deeply with Patsy Cline. i have listened to this album again & again ever since i bought it. the tracks on arranged perfectly, i feel it's one of those albums that one can listen to without skipping any songs. it was released in 1962 and was her final studio album before her untimely death. it is chock full of a lot of Hank Williams covers and she handles them so beautifully especially I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You). this album has been the soundtrack to my heartache and it helps in so many ways. if you're into female vocalists, golden age country or sorrowful tunes i would make it a point to get this.

Various Artists - Hell Comes To Your House (punk/death rock)
groundbreaking stuff here. this is one of the first compilations that contained mostly death rock, it served as an introduction to it for america. containing some of the more popular groups in the death rock scene such as 45 Grave & Christian Death, while throwing some great punk bands in the mix (Social Distortion, Secret Hate & Red Cross). if you want to get into death rock or some great music in general i suggest getting this compilation.

Honeymoon In Red - Lydia Lunch (post punk/no wave)
the Birthday Party backing Lydia Lunch who could ask for more. released in '87, Honeymoon In Red is a showcase of great minds coming together and creating some amazing tunes. although i have read that the group had a falling out with Lydia, we can be thankful that this had a chance to be released. Nick Cave also appears on a few tracks and the two dark entities mesh beautifully. i would recommend this to anybody who is interested in Nick Cave, Lydia Lunch or the Birthday Party. don't expect too much influence from Teenage Jesus, there are some tracks that are reminiscent of the group though.

this is a re-upload of a dead link. released in '68, this album has one of Brazil's best bands Os Mutantes, if that isn't a reason to immediately get this, well then you just don't understand music. kidding of course. this album has a hint of influence from Sgt.Pepper then again, what album from '68 didn't? don't expect a copy though, what i mean is how Pepper broke boundaries, this album did the same for the tropicalia movement in Brazil.

In Blood - Billy Childish & Holly Golightly (lo-fi/garage)
two great musicians together on one album. it displays both of their genius without there a bumping of heads or one upping each other. if you are a fan of either of these musicians it is a necessity for your collection.

The Good Things - Holly Golightly (lo-fi/garage)
we have here Ms.Golightly's first album, a dark toned solo debut if i do say so myself. not to say it's depressing, it has a tinge of sadness but to a point of relation rather than feeling utter despair upon a quick listen.

Debaser: A Japanese Tribute to Pixies - Various Artists (music)
what a find this was, i didn't know what to expect. it's pretty wild and fun to hear, i'm sure it's how people in other countries react when they hear us speak their languages. all in all it's a fine tribute with a lot to offer.

Low - David Bowie (ambient/electronic)
the second Bowie album i have ever truly listened to. it's good and..well i don't know what to say about it. the Eno influence shows though, i think that's why i like it so damned much. first in the Berlin trilogy.

Through The Looking Glass - Siouxsie & the Banshees (music)
an album full of covers. my favorites are 'Strange Fruit', 'Hall of Mirrors' & 'The Passenger'. a must have for any Siouxsie fan.

Hyæna - Siouxsie & the Banshees (post-punk)
what could be better than robert smith in the banshees? an album with him in the banshees, believe me it's as great as you imagine. this is easily one of my favorite albums, with it's crashing drums, Smith & Severin wailing away on their instruments, coupled of course with Siouxsie's vocals creating a noteworthy experience.

The Sky's Gone Out - Bauhaus (post-punk/goth)
after an ample listening to this, i feel that it's my second favorite out of the three albums i have listened to fully. i really fancy the Three Shadows bit. a must have if you appreciated the last two albums i have put up.

Experience Blues - Blind Willie McTell (blues)
another fine blues record for you all to spin, just as amazing as the last few i have put up. something about a man losing his eyesight, truly brings out some inner pain. not saying you have to be blind to know the blues, but it sure as hell does help.

The Eye - K.U.K.L (anarcho/post-punk)
this is probably the only Björk album i will ever enjoy. don't get me wrong, she has some hits & some other random goodies, but K.U.K.L is where it's truly at. this is her first band and i wonder how things would have been had she stuck around with them, ah, i can only imagine. now that's a show i'd like to see. reunion! reunion!

s/t - Hound Dog Taylor & the Houserockers (blues)
i've been getting deeper into ol' Hound Dog lately and i most certainly like what i hear. there's a definite sign that this feller influenced a slew of other musicians especially Jack White. what i savor most about this dude is the raw feeling in his recordings and judging by yesterday's live album, i just know that he was definitely the man.

Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground -Blind Willie Johnson (blues)
mr.Johnson was not born blind, it seems his step-mother got into a tiff with his father and threw lye, not at his pop but at him thus blinding the unsuspecting child. with that, he took his cigar box guitar and started praising the lord with some of the best blues guitar playing and that voice! not to mention that bass thumb picking. one of my favorite masters of the blues, that is a fact.
