Gokarna is a place of temples. It is a town of god and goddesses. It is a place that gives peace of mind and ability to fight against rough and tough of life, boosting your willpower strongly in entire life. It is a place of natural beauty. It is a place of devotees.

The main temple of lord Ganesh, Mahabaleshwar and goddess shri Tamragouri is located very next to sea side, just 5 minutes walk able distance from main bus stand.

The temple is beautifully architected and designed and probably has been constructed by thousands of years ago as illustrated in the book. Lord Mahabaleshwar i.e. Atma Lingam has been investiture by Lord Ganesh to safeguarding the universe by villainous Ravana, the belial. Elude Atmalinga was investiture by Ganesh and hence this place is called as “Bhookailas”(a place where lord Shiva and Mata Parvati lives).

There are many temples nearby seashore like, Shri Rama Temple, Hanuman Temple, Bharat and Umamaheshwara Temple which is located in hilly region. Mahabaleshwar temple committee serves maha prasadam to all devotees every day. There are no restrictions on community, caste and religion. Even worship and performing puja by touching the atma lingam is also not prohibited in the temple. But every male visitor must take bath and remove shirt and banyans, and hang a towel on the left side of his shoulder before entering the temple. They must follow the rules and regulations of the temple management committee strictly. They should co operate with the management in maintaining the temple policy without any objection. They must maintain silence, cleanliness in the temple premises.

All the Brahmins and priests perform and chant Vedas and Mantras in the temple premises until the Mahapuja ends. Every day different types of puja will be performed from morning till evening in all the three temples (i.e. Lord Ganesh Temple,Mahabaleshwar Temple and Parvati Devi Temple). During this period of time thousands of devotees chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’ mantra continuously, including little child, youth and old age people.

At that time the whole town flutters with ‘Om Namah Shivay’. There is no persecution on any devotee in performing puja. Every festival here is celebrated with great pomp and show and people from all around the town and from different villages gather to attend the festive occasion and also contribute their selfless service towards society in all ways.

The biggest celebrated festival of Gokarna is “Maha Shivaratri”(during the month of March to April), “Shri Ganesh Chowthi”( during the month of September to October), “Shravana Maasa”(July to August), “Dussehra(during the month of September to October)” and”,” Bandi Habba”( during the month of April to May). Maha Shivaratri festival is celebrated for five days. Festival ends with“Rathotsava” where thousands of devotees and tourists visit this place every year to be a part of it. Please note that smoking and alcohol is prohibited in Gokarn town.

Sri Mahabaleshwara Temple.

The great almighty Lord Shiva resides in Gokarna and is known as “Sri Mahabaleshwara”. The idol of Lord Shiva is called “Atmalinga” here. The temple is located near sea shore of beautiful Arabian sea of Uttara Kannada district of coastal Karnataka, India. The name Gokarna emerged Since the place is in the shape of “Cow’s Ear”.
Sri Mahabaleshwara temple is one of the holy and popular pilgrimage places of India attracting thousands of devotees every day. Just as “Shri Kashi Vishwanath” temple is famous and most holy place in North India Lord “Mahabaleshwara” is popular in South India. Hence, this place is also called as “Dakshina Kashi.” Great river Maa Ganga (River Ganges) flows in Kashi (Varanasi) and the great Arabian sea and “Koti theertha” play the same role here at Gokarna .
Why the name Mahabaleshwara?
The meaning of ‘Maha’ is “Great” and the meaning of “Bala” is “Power.” ‘Ishwara’ stands for “Lord.”The combination of these three is Mahabaleshwara, i.e. Lord with great power.
What is “Atmalinga” and why it is famous for?
Ravana is the name of a great and powerful giant (Asura) who lived in Lanka (Now Sri Lanka) a long time ago. He was the King of Lanka and also a great devotee of Lord Shiva just like his mother. She would devotionally perform and worship Shiva lingam every day for the prosperity of the Kingdom and especially for her son King Ravana. Her intention was to gain deadliest weapons, strength and power from lord Shiva for her son to make him powerful than Devendra, the King of Heaven. Obviously, “Devendra”, the king of “Sura” was jealous of this. In those days giants, by setting out years of ‘tapas’(Penance) would try to impress Lord Shiva and also Lord Brahma to gain powers to destroy deity, Dharma,(Religion)Nyaya(Justice/legitimacy)and Neethi,(equity) the four spirit of universe. Therefore, Devendra planned to steal the “Shivalinga” to discontinue her worship towards Shiva with an intention to save the universe. Accordingly, he did the same. By this act of Devendra, Ravana’s mother gets furious and sits for a fast-unto-death to reveal her disappointments. Ravana, the most idol son who comes to know about the incident promises his mother to bring the “Atma Linga” of lord Shiva. As promised, King Ravana sets out to Kailas and starts rigorous penance without food and water for impressing Lord Shiva. The impressed Lord thus grants the wishes of his devotee by giving him away “Atmalinga” (A part of heart of lord shiva). Further Shiva also tells Ravana that “Atmalinga” once placed on earth cannot be moved from that place as the entire power and spirit of “Atmalinga” gets sucked by mother earth and they would become inseparable. Ravana becomes happy and sets his way back to the kingdom. But due to this act of Lord Shiva, the entire heaven, Brahmaloka, and Vaikunta (All god and goddesses) fear that Ravana might use this power for wickedness or to destroy the universe. To find out the solution for this problem they set up a meeting with Lord Vishnu and request him to give solution. As a result of this meeting, they send Lord Ganesha to Bhuloka(Earth) to bring back the “Atmalinga” [or placing Atmalinga on the earth before it reaches Ravana's Kingdom] from Ravana. Shri Ganesh agrees and disguises himself as a brahmachari,(Small kid about 8 years old) and appears at the same place as Ravana. It was evening time and Ravana wanted to perform evening prayer (periodical rites) which had to be done every day without fail. Ravana had never missed evening prayer and moreover as he belonged to Brahmin community performing the prayer was a must for him. But Ravana was much worried about “Atmalinga” because it should not be placed on the ground. But with holding Atmalinga, he couldn’t perform prayers. The place he was standing was a sea shore (Now main beach of Gokarna) and there was no suitable place to keep “Atmalinga”. Fortunately he sees Ganesha, and requests him to hold “Atmalinga” until he completes the prayer.
Ganesha agreed on one condition that he would call Ravana three times (as the “Atmalinga” is very heavy and cannot be held for a long time) and if he fails to reach before above said time, he would place “Atmalinga” on the earth. King Ravana agreed and sits for a prayer towards sun. Ganesha called Ravana twice with a gap of few minutes and again called Ravana before he completes the prayer. King Ravana was helpless and he cannot get up unless and until prayer completes. Using this opportunity, Ganesha placed the “Atmalinga” on to the earth. The “Atmalinga” once placed got firmly entrenched in the earth. Ravanasura learned that he had been tricked by the Gods. “Atmalinga” gets absorbed by the earth before Ravana could reach the place. King Ravana becomes angry at Ganesha and gives a big hit on his head. (You can view this pit on top of Ganesha’s head at Lord Maha Ganapati idol in the Temple at Gokarna). Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara bless Ganesh for his great victory and ask him to reside at Gokarna for the sake of his devotees.
After this incident Ravana becomes furious and was deeply agitated, he tries to pull up the “Atmalinga” from the ground, but the linga will not budge a little. Ravana tries to rip out the “Atmalinga” but he fails to do so at all the attempts. But he manages to break five pieces of “Atmalinga”. He angrily throws away the five pieces of “Atmalinga” which are now known as “Murudeshwara”, “Siddeshwara”, “Sajjeshwara”, “Gunavanteshwara”, and “Dhareshwara”. Now the same “Atma Linga” temple is called as “Sri Mahabaleshwara” Temple. Millions of devotees visit this temple. This place is also called as “Bhookailas.”(Bhoo means Earth and Kailas means where Lord Shiva lives in)
The disappointed Ravana tries to kill himself but the mightiest Lord Shiva appears in front of Ravana and his mother and thus fulfills Ravana’s wishes.
“Atma linga” is covered by headstock and arranged with systematic seating. There is a peep hole provided to see the top view of “Atmalinga” to devotees. They can touch this tip and offer bilva patra to Shivalinga along with Panchamruta.(Panchatruma is a mix-up of Milk, ghee, curd, honey and sugar)
Mahabaleshwara always blesses innocents and devotees, who wholeheartedly serve poor, helpless people, and those who respect elders and parents, and also who are sincere and hard working, who believes work, is worship, naive devotees, who serve food for helpless old age people and devotees who worship him sincerely without expecting anything for themselves.
WHAT IS ASHTABHANDA?
Maha Shivaratri and Chariot festival
Maha Shivaratri is a festival celebrated in Gokarna with great pomp and joy. This day is special day for everyone. People perform and worship Shiva and fast whole day. They perform pooja with bilvapatra which is a favourite of Lord Shiva. The Next day of Shivaratri car festival takes place where idol of Shiva and Parvati is kept in the chariot and people pull the chariot from Maha Ganapathi temple to Sri Venkataramana temple at car street. During this time people throw banana on chariot to express their happiness and devotional feelings towards Lord Shiva.
ORIGIN OF THE CIVILISATION
Brahmins community and also other few people who belonged to other communities migrated from the Gomantak region to get rid of mandatory conversions by the British and Portugal authorities and settled in and around Gokarna in the 15th century. They found the place safe as Lord Mahabaleshwara resides at Gokarna. This region was under the regime of Sondha and Vijayanagar kingdoms.(Hindu ruling) At the same time the Konkan area was ruled by Portuguese including Goa. Most of the temples were destroyed by Portuguese during their regime.

Ashta bandha is a ritual methodology performed by the temple for every 60 years. It is a re installation of Headstock of “Atmalinga”. Ashta means “8” and bandha means “bond.” During this period, complete top headstock (Atmalinga covered by this headstock) will be removed by chanting mantras and performing other related religious activities in the temple. After removal of the cover (Prana peetha) people can see the top view and depth of the “Atmalinga” above the earth surface level in which the actual shape can be seen. Public can see this miracle personally for 8 days or 12 days. Again this “Atmalinga” will be re installed using herbal adhesive (using 8 types of herbs) prepared by priests with Veda and mantra. Herbal adhesives are poured inside to strengthen the “Atmalinga” after thorough cleaning. During this period of time millions of devotees visit here for watching “Ashtabandham programme.

It is a history that the Tibetans came to India for their survival and were provided with the amenities. There are many colonies of Tibetans in India. The Colony at Mundgod in Uttara Kannada is one of the attractions. The Tibetans are experts in Weaving. Since they are worshipers of the Buddha the temples with the idol of Buddha attract the travelers. With an entry in to the Colony the onlooker feels to be in a different world. The Beauty of the Colony will be a recipe for the travelers.

Attiveri Bird Sanctuary:

Attiveri was declared as a bird sanctuary on 17th August 2000. It lies around the Attiveri reservoir and spans across 2.23 SqKm. It was formed as a result of the construction of a dam across Tayavvanahalla River in the village of Attiveri. This reservoir which was plenty in aquatic life attracts many birds, especially aquatic species, and was therefore developed as bird sanctuary. The agricultural fields around the santuary are full of aquatic creatures, which are a major source of food for the bird life of about 79 species, including migratory birds from 22 countries. For information visit

GOA

The Coolest Place in India

‘Now our road takes us to the magnificent kingdom of Goa.The people of this kingdom are strong, prudent and very hardworking. The kingdom of Goa is the most important in India. It is civilized, having famous orchards and water. It is the coolest place in India and it is the most plentiful in foodstuffs.’

‘The white people make a practice of going to the kingdom of Goa to enjoy the shade and the groves of trees and to savoir the sweet betel.’

These revealing remarks on Goa come not from the hippies or ‘flower power’ generation of the sixties and early seventies who thronged the beaches of Anjuna, Vagator and Arambol in search of salvation and ‘peace’. These remarks were made over five centuries ago by the Portuguese Ambassador to China who visited Goa around the year 1511. They serve as a vivid precursor to the generations that followed in our times to the fabled land of Goa.

In those tumultuous and rebellious times in the sixties, it was then not the ‘sweet betel’ that was the prime attraction but a different kind of ‘weed’. But Goa, since those days of the angry generation, has moved on to attract a multitudinous, peaceful and cosmopolitan school of visitors from all around the globe.

Down the corridors of time Goa has been different things to different people. To the Portuguese conquerors it was ‘Golden Goa’, the El Dorado, and the ‘Rome of the East’. Such was its beauty and grandeur, that a traveler was moved to remark: ‘Whoever has seen Goa, need not visit Lisboan’-Lisbon, which was then the grand epicenter of the Portuguese dominions.

While the contemporary traveler may not come to modern, thriving Goa ‘for the sale of all sorts of merchandise’, the ‘fair’ is still very much on. The traveler is here to find something different: a balm on the busy mind, to enjoy days of freedom on Goa’s magnificent beaches, to parasail or swim with the tide of fellow visitors from all around the globe, to savoir its unique cuisine and imbibe its spirits, to take a long and invigorating trek in its unexplored interiors, to marvel at its majestic temples and churches, in short, to be at one with the most friendly people in the country.

In the sixties and seventies, it was, as we have remarked, a haven for the hippies. Since then Goa has moved on to full-fledged Statehood, its own Council of Ministers, a magnificent new Assembly complex, its citizens among the most literate in the country with a per capita income the highest in the land. At the hub of this prosperity, is the Tourism industry. At the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), we take a humble bow in acknowledgement, in some small measure, of putting Goa on the tourist map of our country. Read more

GOKARNA!!!

Why people visit Gokarna?

One of the best pilgrimage, Holy and Tourist places among all in India is Gokarna. Why? Because of pilgrimage and religious town, its natural beauty, beautiful sea shores and attractive clean beaches, mountains and waterfalls, covered by thick forest, holy rivers, world famous temples like lord Mahabaleshwara Temple, the Bhoo Kailas temples and much more. Yes, all the above specialties are attracting people from different parts of the country and world towards this holy place.

Gokarna is located at coastal belt in Karnataka. District Head Quarter is Karwar and Taluk is Kumta.

Millions of people are visiting this place every year from different parts of India and different parts of the world. People arrive here for sightseeing, performing special pooja (religious activities), to worship lord Ganesha and Mahabaleshwara. People also visit this place with an intention to have enjoyments, fun, and to get relaxed, meditation and trekking during week end. The specialty of trekking here is, few mountains are plain whereas some consist of big rocks where the person can make trips without much stress or strain or much trekking tools. That is why Gokarna is attracting many adventurists from all over the country.
Sri Sankaracharya had visited Gokarna on his way to Himalaya. Sri Sankaracharya had stayed at Gokarna for spiritual and vedic cultural discussions. Today we can see a beautiful sri Sharadamba Temple in Gokarna built by devotees of Sri Sankaracharya. Thousands of pilgrims visiting this temple every year and performing religious activities specially during NAVARATRI festival.

LET US GET TO KNOW A BRIEF LIFE SKETCH OF SRI SANKARA

‘He who declared, “ I will come whenever virtue subsides”,
came again and this time manifestation was in south, and up rose that young
Brahman of whom it has been declared that at the age of sixteen he had
completed all his writings, the marvelous boy Sankaracharya arose.’

(Swami Vivekananda)

The greatest philosopher of all times and the greatest Hindu
of his time, he is generally supposed to have been born at Kaladi at Kerala on
the west coast of the Peninsula in A.D. 788. While one tradition has it that Siva
was the family deity of Sri Sankara, another affirms that he was by birth a
Sakta. Every page of Sankara’s life scintillates with so much of spiritual
wisdom, so much of logical subtlety and so much of philosophical profundity
that for centuries, this boy, from his granite pedestal, will point out to all
men the way to blessedness and peace, and ages hence, every traveler on the
rugged path to the Highest Heaven will say in his heart, “the truest vision of
the Supreme came, perhaps, here”.

Even as a boy he attended the Vedic school. His sharp brain
went praying in to the soul of the sacred Vedic Lore and formulated, with
astute genius, accurate definitions and exact analysis, a synthetic philosophy.
He renounced the world before his mind could be contaminated by its vilest and
embraced monasticism, dedicating his life to God- realization and, also, to
bringing backs the Indian world to his pristine purity.

Assuring his mother that he would be at her bedside at her
last moment, this passionless recluse went in search of a teacher, who could
formally initiate him in to the mysteries of sannyasa and show the way
to the supreme. At Omkarnath, on the river Narmada, Sankara found his Guru
(mentor) in Govinda Bhagavatpada. He stayed with him exploring every feet of
the supreme truth, and humbling himself in the modesty of wisdom.

In fulfillment of the mandate from his Guru to establish
Advaita Vedanta as the meeting ground of all monist and dualistic views,
contradictory though they might appear to be, the young genius went to
Varanasi, the ancient seat of Vedic religion and culture, and started spreading
the gospel of unity and diversity. He held disputations with the learned
leaders of various schools of thought, and by uncovering false assumptions and
questioning assumed certainties, he established the supremacy of his system of
thought. Here the first of his four disciples, Sanandana, later known as Padmapada joined
him.

From Varanasi, the spiritual colossus journeyed on to
Badrinath with his disciples, spreading the message of his synthetic
philosophy. He visited many holy places such as Prayag, Hardwar,
Hrishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Nandprayag, Kamarupa and Gomukhi, worshiped
the Deities on the way, and thus demonstrated that a knower of Nirguna Brahmana
is not devoid of devotion to Saguna Brahmana. Here in the calm of the Himalayan
heights, Sankara wrote commentaries on the ten Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita,
and the Brahmana sutra, the triple canons (prasthana traya) of the Hindus, and
established his doctrine on a firm foundation. In the words of Thibaut, “the
doctrine advocated by Sankara is, from a purely philosophical point of view,
and apart from all theological considerations, the most important and
interesting one which has arisen on Indian soil; neither those forms of the
Vedanta which diverge from the view represented by Sankara , or any of the
non-Vedantic systems can be compared with the so called orthodox Vedanta in
boldness, depth and subtlety of speculation”.

Then he wandered about from place to place engaging himself
in discussions with leaders of diverse creeds and sects, and, by his superb
dialectic skill, he went on deflating false dogmas and puncturing erroneous
presumptions. Tradition has it that it was during these peregrinations that Sankara
met Mandana Mishra, the greatest champion of the Mimamsa system which
upholds Vedic ritualism as against the way of Self-knowledge and the monastic
ideal. Sankara engaged Mandana in disputation and, on defeat; Mandana became a
disciple of Sankara with the name Suresavracharya.

Sankara travelled all over the length and breadth of the
vast sub-continent four times, established four principal monasteries at the
four cardinal points of India, the Sringeri Math on the Sringeri
hills in the south, the Sharada Math at Dwaraka in the
West, the Jyotirmath at Badarikashrama in the North, and Govardhana Math
at Puri in the East, and appointed his four chief disciples as pontiffs of
these Maths to promote the spiritual well-being of the monks and the laity
within their respective jurisdictions. He also assigned to each Math one Veda.
Thus Rig-Veda went to Govardhana Math, Yaajur-Veda to Sringeri Math, Sama-Veda to
Sharada Math and Atharva-Veda to Jyotir Math.

Many obnoxious cults had vitiated the Indian society then, and
temples were in the hands of a coterie of corrupted priests dabbling in hideous
forms of worship and animal sacrifice. Sankara, with the help of spiritual
evidence and his dialectic skill, proved that these militated against the very
spirit of the Vedas. He reformed these corrupt practices by infusing into them
the noble principles of Vedic worship and transformed them into means to self
realization. He reformed and re instituted the worship of the five Deities,
Ganapati, Shiva, Narayana, Sun and Sakti, and demonstrated that ideas of image
worship too had a place in the Vedanta philosophy. The whole object of worship
is by constant struggle to become perfect, to become divine, to reach God and
be God.

His deep affection for his mother triumphed over the rules
governing the order of sannyasins, and, on her passing away; he performed
the funeral rites of his mother in the face of stiff opposition from his
relatives. He passed away in Kedarnath on the Himalayas, at the age
of 32, according to tradition.

It was Sankara’s genius that organized the great body of
wandering monks in India into ten well-knit orders (the dashanami sampradaya).
It is not without significance that Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, the prophet of
modern India was a disciple of Swami Totapuri Maharaja, who belongs to the line
of Puris among the Dasnamis and that the monks of the Ramakrishna. Order
is, therefore vitally linked with Sri Sankara.

Thus Spake Sri Sankara

Here are few meaningful quotes by Sri Sankara which describes about life and death, and soul and body of a human being

IGNORANCE (Avidya)

IDENTIFICATION of the Self with the aggregate of the body
etc. is Avdiya or ignorance.

‘Just as a piece of rope is imagined to be a snake (in the
darkness) and an oyster to be a piece of silver, so is the Atman determined to
be the body by an ignorant person.’

‘Just as the stump of a tree is mistaken for a human figure
and a mirage for water, so is the Atman determined to be the body by an
ignorant person.’

‘The illusion of samsara is duly solely to an
illusory notion and is not an absolute reality’.

‘Atman is verily one and without parts, where as the body consists
of many parts; and yet the people see these two as one! What else can be called
ignorance but this?’

‘Action cannot destroy ignorance, for it is not in conflict
with ignorance. Knowledge alone destroys ignorance, as light destroys
darkness’.

‘It is only because of ignorance that the self appears to be
finite. When ignorance is destroyed, the self, who does not admit of any
multiplicity whatsoever, truly reveals itself by itself, like the sun when the
cloud is removed’.

‘The world is filled with attachments and an aversion etc.
and is like a dream; it appears to be real as long as one is ignorant, but
becomes unreal when one is awake’.

‘Avidya or nescience, inscribable and beginning less, is
called the cause, which is an upadhi superimposed on Atman (Soul)’.

‘As the movement that belongs to water is attributed,
through ignorance, to the moon reflected in it, so also agency, enjoyment, and
other limitations, which belong to the mind are falsely attributed to Atman.

The ignorant man longing for results engages in action’.

‘The impression of ‘I am Brahman’ created by uninterrupted
reflection, destroys ignorance and its distractions, as Rasayana (medicine)
destroys disease’.

‘Just as the trees are thought to be moving in a direction
opposite to that of a moving boat by a man in it, so transmigratory existence
is considered to belong to the self’.

‘Ignorance is nothing but a superimposition of the non elf.
The destruction of ignorance is liberation. Darkness cannot remove darkness.
Wisdom, being incompatible with ignorance, puts it to flight’.

‘Ignorance produces perishable result that rises with the
dawn and dies with the dusk’.

‘The ignorant long for results and engage in action with the
idea of doership and enjoyer ship. The ignorant are deluded and think’, I act
‘I cause others to act; I enjoy; I cause others to enjoy’ and so on.

‘The ignorant set up the panorama of objects, each being
governed by his previous karma and linger in life bemoaning their lot’.

‘Avidya or Maya is the power of the lord. She is without
beginning, is made up of three Gunas and is superior to the effects.
She is to be inferred by one of clear intellect only from the effects she
produces. It is she who brings forth the whole universe’

‘She is neither existent nor nonexistent nor partaking of
both characteristics, neither same nor different nor did both; neither composed
of parts nor an indivisible whole nor both. She is most wonderful and cannot be
described in words.’

‘Maya or Avidya can be destroyed by the realization of the
pure Brahman, the one without a second just as the mistaken idea of a snake is
removed by the discrimination about the rope. She has three Gunas known as TAMAS,
RAJAS and SATTVA, named after their respective function’.

‘There is no ignorance outside the mind. The mind alone is
the Avidya, the cause of bondage, of transmigration. When that is destroyed,
all else is destroyed.

‘Atman is the ruler of the body, and is internal; the body
is the ruled, and is external, and yet the people see these two as one! What
else can be called ignorance but this?

Atman is all consciousness and holy, the body is all flesh
and impure; and yet the people see these two as one! What else can be called
ignorance but this?

Atman is eternal, since it is existence itself; the body is
transient, as it is non existence in essence; and yet the people see these to
as one! What else can be called ignorance but this?

‘Just as a jar is all earth, so also is the body, all
consciousness. The division, therefore, into the self and non self is made by
the ignorant to no purpose.’

‘Just as to a person suffering from a defect in the eye
(jaundice), white things appear yellow, so does a person on account of
ignorance see Atman (Soul) as the body.’

‘Just as blueness in the sky, water in the mirage and a
human figure in a post (are but illusory), so is the universe in Atman.’

As its name indicates the beach is in the shape of a half
moon, as per the local residents of the town. Visitors opine that this beach is
silent, calm and quiet and shy like a bride. Since the beach is away from the
town and people frequently visited it in earlier days the beach got a silent
remark. ( I am pointing just history of this beach about 30 years ago) But in
recent times the beach has regular visits from tourists worldwide.

This beach is very beautiful, clean, free from pollution,
free from crowd and free from dirt. This is a beach suitable for water spot
games and swimming, and visitors too prefer this beach of all mostly due to its
privacy. Tourists may have to suffer slightly to reach this beach as there is
no direct road, but there are few ways easily manage to reach via Om beach. But
I suggest you to take assistance from local guide who can make you to reach
your destination by short cut roads or may be providing conveyance under
unavoidable circumstances.

One more suggestion is pack up your food and drinking water
along with you. That does not mean that, no food is available there. The first
reason is that your budget may affect your planning. Secondly, if unfortunately the restaurant is
unable to provide dishes or snacks as per your requirements immediately.
Because only two or three hotels/resorts are actively serving tourists.
However, nowadays resort constructing work is under progress and hence no
worries in future.

The half moon beach of Arabian sea is one side covered with
coconut trees, jack fruit trees, mango trees and other forest tasty fruits
enhancing the beauty of the beach. Advance intimation is a must if you want to
stay here. You can reserve your booking with any known person of you or any
local agents to avoid inconveniences. Stay and enjoy!

PARADISE BEACH

Paradise beach is one more attractive beach of Arabian sea
at Gokarna among all beaches. This beach has few facilities including
accommodation, food and water. This is because; this place was unidentified as
this place is isolated. But when you compared to other beaches, this place is
quite different in the setting and big waves are swat the rocks and making big
sound which is mesmerizing.

You can reach this beach by walk via half moon beach or consult
local residents who are happy to serve you honestly. Pack up food and water
with you before leaving and have a fun, play, trek rocks and relax till
evening. Amazing beach keeps remembering you forever.

OM BEACH

“Om” is welcome to the god according to Hindu religion and
belief. You might have been observed that, every mantra starts from Om. This Om
has a specific and unique symbol as shown in sketch. The beach is in the shape
of this Om and hence the Om beach. This beach is a combination of shape and
devotion and that is the reason behind this name.

Om beach is located near Gokarna at about 8.25
kilometers and can be reached by auto or taxi. There are two cut short roads
which lead to Om beach. Enquire with local people for more information.
